Title: 🏆 If You're New to Crypto Here's Some Stuff I Wish Someone Told Me Early On
Post by: breske on August 25, 2025, 09:43:53 PM
Been in crypto for a bit now not a pro, not rich, just someone who’s been around long enough to make some gains, lose some coins, and facepalm at my own mistakes
If you’re just getting started here are some real advice from someone who’s been through it

Bitcoin has always 8 Decimal and the smallest fractions is 1 Satoshi = 0.00000001 BTC
Since bitcoin was born most of people have lost their access to their bitcoin by not saving and securing their secret seed don't be one of them!
Pay attention to  Security > Everything
Use 2FA don't click weird links NEVER give out your seed phrase no one legit will ask for it not support not admins not even your dog

- Don’t leave coins sitting on exchanges
Not Your Keys, Not Your Coins If your crypto is sitting on an exchange and you don’t control the private keys you don’t really own it !!!!!!
Dont get fooled from Earn Daily Rewards or Airdrops that are worth cents
Seriously if the exchange goes down gets hacked, or decides to “freeze withdrawals” your coins are toast
THIS HAS HAPPEN MANY TIMES ON THE PAST IT CAN HAPPEN TOMORROW TOO

Get yourself a wallet write down your seed phrase store it somewhere safe You’ll thank yourself later
You can use Bitcoin Core or Electrum  https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet?step=5&platform=windows (https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet?step=5&platform=windows)

- Learn the basics
You don’t need to become a developer, but it helps to know:
What is a wallet?
What’s the blockchain actually doing?
What is mempool?
Trust me it makes everything less intimidating
https://mempool.space/ (https://mempool.space/)

- You can buy a tiny bit of BTC
Most of people say now days that bitcoin is only for rich which is a big mistake
You don’t need to buy a whole Bitcoin you can throw in $10 and just learn how sending/receiving works don’t let the price scare you off

- Ignore any Email related to update your Wallet
most of people lost their bitcoin by clicking malware links or phishing

- Be careful from Drainers
there are website that ask you to connect your wallet to get an Airdrop (free coins of an project) 99% them are scam
once u connect your wallet your Coins will be gone ( even if you have 0$  but you add balance to that wallet after few months they will be gone )
Read more about Drainers here https://usa.kaspersky.com/blog/what-is-a-crypto-wallet-drainer/29713/ (https://usa.kaspersky.com/blog/what-is-a-crypto-wallet-drainer/29713/)

Use 2 wallets  1 Main for Long term which you only store your Bitcoin as an invesment and dont touch till you are a millionaire
and the 2nd wallet for any payments or thing u need daily

That’s all I got just wanted to throw this out there in case it helps someone dodge a few mistakes I made early on
Anyone else got tips for the newer folks? Drop ‘em below

This one of the thing hindering folk from investing in bitcoin . Most people think that to for them to start their journey they need 1 BTC or more thinking 1BTC is the minimum amount to purchase while investing bringing the idea that bitcoin only for the rich .

Which is quite wrong because bitcoin is for everyone and is not necessary to start with one BTC or more you can start with what you can budget for , even as low as $10 you can even choose to start employing dca method in your buying .

Many people think that to start investing in Bitcoin, you need additional knowledge or a lot of money, but this idea is completely wrong. Basically, to start investing in Bitcoin, it is very important to have some basic perspectives as well as a prudent income. Over time, a person can gain complete knowledge about Bitcoin and become more aware of his confidence and cash. By patiently following the right rules, long-term investment plans can be expected to have good things in the future.

We can easily buy Bitcoin through the DCA (dollar-cost averaging) method, for this you do not need additional money, some specific amount of money and regular investment is very important. To manage long-term investments properly, an emergency fund for three months is required, because we do not know anything specific about the unknown dangers of the future, so it is better to have a special fund to manage long-term investments.

You should always protect yourself from fraudsters, for this it is very important to gain knowledge. People face various financial risks due to greed. By investing too quickly due to greed without knowing or understanding, you end up losing all your money.

If you are new to crypto, just get started first and be ready to learn, relearn, and unlearn some false information you probably have gotten from sources that are not legit. i have found out that the most difficult part of the journey has always been on how to get started. so many people that would have been strong bitcoin holders are not invested yet because they have not crossed that resistance that stops them from getting started because of the false information they have hard from sources that are probably anti crypto which always paints a wrong narrative about bitcoin and crypto in general.

As long as you are just a newbie, all you need to know is the basics about crypto and to be more specific, it is better to get started with bitcoin and maybe when you have stayed long enough and has gained enough knowledge you can try out some good altcoins. get started with bitcoin, work on getting a good portfolio, ensure the security of your asset, avoid anything that looks too good to be true, aim for the long term and not the short term, make proper provision for your emergency fund and keep yourself updated with recent security information that will help you and you asset stay protected from any form of hacks and theft, with that, you will have a smooth transit from being an ordinary newbie to a strong investor that has things well figured out.

Anyone who thinks, they need to be able to afford 1 bitcoin before they can invest isn’t ready yet to invest because with the help of the DCA technique, people are already advised to invest any amount consistently without paying attention to the market contains and price fluctuations but rather focus on buying at every little opportunity that they get.

Op you’ve done a great job with your writing and sincerely I must appreciate your great work and also say rhag, everything you’ve written so far are correct and it shows that you’ve learnt some things in course of your crypto journey .

Let me append a rather simple one. Almost all altcoins are a scam, and just because something can be profitable that does not mean that it is not a scam.

Rightfully disagreed. I've seen this argument many more times than the number of people I have seen who believe this. Over half a decade of reddit I have seen a few users believe that they can't buy fractions of a Bitcoin. It is quite a basic concept.

Centralized exchanges are similar to centralized online platforms which are not good to store your bitcoin. You must store your bitcoin in non custodial (self custodial) wallets as with them, you will have private keys that means you have control of your bitcoins. In addition, if possible, choose open source wallets to use as it is safer than close source wallets because you and community including technical guys can not reproduce that wallet and test it from source code.

More warnings on centralized exchanges.
Reminder: do not keep your money in online accounts. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5421039.0)

If many would have been well informed earlier before now and things could have been more better for them, because the earlier we got informed, the better it is for us to prevent ourselves from any harm now or later.

Make use of a non custodial wallet for your security sake, because doing this will render you access to the required keys to where your asset was kept on the blockchain, exchanges are custodial storage and can't give you the necessary keys to your asset, some newbies don't know about all these until they are affected, we can use an exchange to buy bitcoin, after which we are expected to move them to a non custodial wallet, which we can have control over it.

https://mempool.space/ (https://mempool.space/)
This is the first thing any beginner should start with, which is the basics that he should be familiar with and the common terms that he will read a lot in this field. Indeed, this will make him more open-minded and more flexible in understanding.

- Ignore any Email related to update your Wallet
most of people lost their bitcoin by clicking malware links or phishing

We should be cautious with emails and never click on any links or download any attachments without conducting the necessary research and verification. No open source wallet will require you to update it by sending you a message, as most of them do not have customer support. Also, you should never enter your secret phrases into any of these email-linked pages.

- Be careful from Drainers
there are website that ask you to connect your wallet to get an Airdrop (free coins of an project) 99% them are scam
once u connect your wallet your Coins will be gone ( even if you have 0$  but you add balance to that wallet after few months they will be gone )
This is absolutely true. Therefore, if someone is interested in airdrops, they should use a new alternative wallet instead of their primary wallet. They should always make sure to interact only with the original and official links. Once a wallet is connected and a transaction is signed, it may be drained by scammers, and many people have lost their funds through this type of scam.

I’m quite confuse what are you disagreeing on . Is like we saying same thing here , that most folk see bitcoin as sometimes that’s too expensive for them base on its value . That they can’t afford it knowing they can focus on buying fraction of it or rather making use dca method to keep buying some fraction of it in a fixed time either monthly or weekly . And also they are good altcoins but are not easy to find so instead of wasting time finding a good altcoin with potential just focus on trust worthy project like BTC .

I am saying that you are wrong. Very few people don't understand that you can buy a fraction of Bitcoin. You must really have a low IQ or low level of education to be confused by something like this, fractions. Especially when every currency in the world has fractions. You are saying that most people don't know this, I am saying that only very few people don't. Is it clear now?

If you have intended to convey something alternative such as that people know they can buy small amounts of Bitcoin but that they still believe they shouldn't start their journey without at least buying 1 Bitcoin, then that is something else entirely. The language that you used does not convey this idea as I have indicated in the first part of my post.

It’s good you’ve known most of the important things you need to know now as a newbie it goes to prove  you’ve done a proper research and is ready to learn and know more.
All you’ve listed are really important and essential. I’ll like to point out that the  most important thing in bitcoin investment is getting started, you must not wait till you have all the knowledge, once you’re able to understand the basics and know how to buy and secure your wallet provided you have discretionary income available you can start your investment journey. Discretionary income is the money you can afford to lose, the money after you’ve accounted for all your basic expenses, that money you would want to use to have fun, that’s what is needed to invest you don’t have to use money meant for important stuff to invest cos if you do so you’re gambling and in the long run you’ll be forced to sell when you’re not supposed to.

Newbies should be educated about this prior to entering bitcoin accumulation or investment. Let’s not normalize learning after losing, at least they should be responsible already before taking the risk investing in bitcoin.

Any well informed newbie will only be quick to learning and slow in actions, this has a lot of meaning in determining for what we choose to go for, having the opportunity of discovering this forum is an added advantage, whereby some have taken it serious to learn and develop some knowledge from the opportunity they had, to an extent, we all have started being a newbie, this forum is welcoming enough in giving information to everyone that seek to have it, because you will know more about cryptocurrency and be able to stand independent.

Of course, any newbie that wants to start his bitcoin investment needs to know that he should only buy and continue buying without selling for one circle or more. When you plan to be a long-term hodler, you will have the flexibility to be investing and learning at the same time. Whatever area of bitcoin that you feel is important for you, you learn it as you are investing in order not to put your bitcoin investment at risk.

I could remember when I just came to this forum, I was a noob but with gradual learning, I started understanding more about bitcoin and that has given me a little knowledge on how to go about my bitcoin investment. I am still learning because bitcoin is broad and cannot be learned in a month or two. It's traders are prune to losses because they are following the market waves.

Available time for investment position and holding your bitcoin depend on your own conditions which can be different than the other investors. No investors are the same as the other investors so what you said can be wrong with some investors. They only can afford to invest money in bitcoin for 1, 2 or 3 years and it does not make their investment practice is bad.

They only have to know that by investing in Bitcoin in 1, 2 or 3 years, they might have higher risk of getting loss than getting profit. If they can hold their bitcoins for four to five years and longer, risk of loss would be very small or almost eliminated. This means they will almost have profit by holding their bitcoin for four, five years and longer.

My biggest regret as a newbie was failure to learn. I was depending on some people who called themselves professionals for information about the crypto space. When I later found out that they were scammers, I just concluded that the crypto industry had nothing to offer. My failure to read about Bitcoin made me join the industry late. My advice for Newbies is for them to verify all information before believing or implementing it.

Any project that promises a get-rich-quick coin or an airdrop should be avoided because many of them could be scams. Scammers are devising new ways to exploit the vulnerability of newbies; there is a need to be cautious and alert at all times.

This is best that you do not click emails you do not recognize on the mail connected to your financial dealings, better if you have a dedicated email account for your exchanges and co and never use it for anything else, so whenever a new mail, even recognized ones pops up, you don't click anything from the email, you go to the account of interest, log into it and check if the mail exists in it's notifications and attend to such from the relevant app and not from email notifications. It would help you only attend to verified information. Additionally, use a separate device for your bitcoin and other crypto activities.

Yeah, actually although most times you wouldn't want to pay Tx fees on every UTXO that hits your exchange account, so possibly the exchange account can serve as a consolidation point for your coins until it reaches a definite amount and you send it to your non-custodial wallet. I set a limit of coins existing in my exchange to not more than $3k, as soon as that sum is achieved, off it goes to my decentralized wallet.

Point 3 is interesting. Many beginners assume Bitcoin is only for the rich, but that's not the case. Bitcoin is for anyone willing to take risks, as anyone can buy Bitcoin for a small amount. That's why it's important to have knowledge before diving into the crypto world, broadening our perspective on Bitcoin and enriching our understanding.

All of the points you've mentioned are fundamental points that beginners must know. Once you've mastered or understood these, you'll be able to manage the risks involved. This is especially true if you've mastered proper wallet management and understand the risks of storing assets on exchanges. Many beginners don't prioritize this knowledge, even though wallet security is paramount for owning Bitcoin, especially if you're looking for long-term goals.

I must admit, even though you're a beginner, your understanding is quite good. This is certainly thanks to your diligent learning, which has enabled you to quickly grasp the most important aspects of the crypto world. This thread can also help other beginners to be more aware of the things that must be learned in the world of crypto so they can optimize the risks when holding bitcoin for the long term.

I'm also of the opinion that strategies are probably not most important but helpful when setting up a good Bitcoin portfolio. Investors with large capital should buy large fractions while investors with small capital can invest with what they have available and accumulate over longer period. Both large scale and small scale investors can DCA, the only difference is in how much fractions can be accumulated over the same period.

OP made helpful points, one thing is understanding Bitcoin, having the capital and securing the investment throughout the process of holding before profit taking. Altcoins are not the best place to spend our capital, especially the new altcoins that lack utility and wouldn't reserve their spot for the long run, instead investors should prioritize Bitcoin investment.

When I saw the topic, the first thing that came to my mind was, this thread is own by newbie. And as I checked it is. Op most of the things you made mentioned are not new in the forum. We have discussed those things in many time.   Real investors of bitcoin would not keep their coins in an exchange for long term but to sell within a short period of time or they can keep it for trading purpose.
Non custodial wallets has no email so there is no way someone will receive email from the wallet. It is only centralized exchanges that have email. And centralized exchanges would not send you email and if they want to discuss with it is through your account in the app. You can see a pop up to update and auto update of the app from the phone.

Well you are right that everything that is listed are not new to us. But let’s just think that this post will be benefited by the newbies that are constantly coming in, and for that this is still helpful for them and for the future bitcoin investors.

There are still topics that no matter how repeatedly it is discussed, there are still good reasons to make it as a constant reminder to be always cautious with our investment, crypto or not.

The issue is most newbies mistaken exchange for wallet and thereby underrate the importance of securing their private keys. Once they registered on exchange, they'll assume they already have a wallet not realising they aren't in control of the wallet under exchanges.

If we can constantly practice everything being discussed here, we'll definitely have fewer cases of coin lost or falling victim to petty scams that involves link clicking.

The cryptocurrency is a game of patience!

I sincerely wished I was told earlier. Many would think of investing in cryptocurrency as a means of getting rich quickly.  Often time because of the success of others we’ve seen we often think ours will happen over the night. It doesn’t always work that way. Nonetheless here are some few things that can help:
1. Be patient: every good thing takes time. Be patient with you investment think more of long term than short term investment
2. consistency: if it doesn’t work today it will tomorrow so keep doing it. It might be slow but it sure. It better slow and sure than to be fast and fall.
3. Invest more in knowledge before investing in assets: note your knowledge will always give you an edge in life. It also applies to this space don’t just follow others. Do Your Own Research
4. Trade with caution: be careful with each trade. A good trade might end up in tears if care is not taken
6. Avoid Greed: Very important. Greed might send you to your early grave. And finally:
6. ensure you are safe: keep you account or wallet safe. You might loose good figure if your loose your wallet key. Make sure you are safe.

- You can buy a tiny bit of BTC
Most of people say now days that bitcoin is only for rich which is a big mistake
You don’t need to buy a whole Bitcoin you can throw in $10 and just learn how sending/receiving works don’t let the price scare you off
Throwing in $10 is not a bad idea at all, but it only makes sense if it’s done consistently and with intention. You’re right in saying Bitcoin is not just for the rich, but it does take steady accumulation over time to turn it into a truly meaningful investment.

Imagine someone who can only afford to buy $10 worth of Bitcoin once in a very long while they’ll likely end up with gains so small that it hardly makes a difference when the bull run comes.

The bit of Bitcoin you mentioned is called the fractions of Bitcoin. Many people believe only the wealthy can invest in Bitcoin, but that's a misconception. The smallest unit of Bitcoin is called a 'Satoshi,' and it can be purchased, making Bitcoin divisible. When I last tried to convince my friend that Bitcoin investment isn't exclusive to the rich, he disagreed. I explained that buying fractions of Bitcoin is worthwhile, and even small amounts can add up. I told him, "A little drop of water makes a mighty ocean." You don't need to accumulate a whole Bitcoin; you can start with fractions using a preferred strategy like Dollar-Cost Averaging (DCA).

Which is quite wrong because bitcoin is for everyone and is not necessary to start with one BTC or more you can start with what you can budget for , even as low as $10 you can even choose to start employing dca method in your buying .
Yeah, Bitcoin is for everyone but, not for every body. in the sense that its free for only those that are interested or are ready to risk money into it. Many people have been an observer since from day one of bitcoin, they follow all the bitcoin news but they never use their money to invest. Most people believe bitcoin is for big investors, they can not use $10 to buy, to them the profit will not be much.

I keep saying, any day you fail to buy bitcoin as an investor, you will regret the next day.  I bought Bitcoin with $30 when bitcoin was $48k, i made good profit, when bitcoin hit $1k ATH. start at your level, if you have spare $10 or $20, buy and hold for long. in the future if bitcoin hit $5k, you will make enough profit. Do not wait till you have enough money to buy high quantity, just have the mindset to be among people holding bitcoin for the future.

If you can only afford to buy bitcoin once in a while because you don't have frequent discretionary income, it's good that you buy and hodli. It's better than not buying at all. As time passes on, you can look for a means to increase your income so that, you can have a regular discretionary income which will enable you be consistent and persistent with your DCA overtime. What really matter is that you should have a fraction of bitcoin in your possession for a long time.

Pay attention to  Security > Everything
In a world where the attention span of people are getting shorter by the day, paying attention especially to the security of your is a rare because people think that "it cannot happen or be them" And that's where they get it all wrong. I have seen a Bitcoin OG lose a lot of his Bitcoin to a simple security flaw which he refused to address while it lingered.

Yeah, alot of people feel that bitcoin investment is for the Rich only That is why they have decided to get a stable source of income or waiting to get all it takes before getting started. most of this guys were given the opportunity to invest in bitcoin during the early phase but this feeling made them not to take advantage of it during the early stage Without knowing that no matter how small thier discretionary income is that they can still get started, just imagine if they had started the accumulation journey from the early phase and were able to maintain the ongoing buying of bitcoin no matter how small thier discretionary income is I'm sure that they would have been talking about owning 1BTC by now. even if they can't get to this point but they would have cross the middle, so this isn't about being rich or poor so Long as you have a discretionary income you're free to get started, But your consistency is what matters.

Exactly investing in Bitcoin is for anyone willing to start regardless of how much money they have. Biggest challenge is not price but you have some courage to begin. As your own story shows even small investment can grow much over time as Bitcoin value has increased to over $100000. Your advice is great do not wait start small with strategy Dollar Cost Averaging and plan to hold your investment for long term because Bitcoin has proven it can grow significantly over time.

- Ignore any Email related to update your Wallet
most of people lost their bitcoin by clicking malware links or phishing
I still receive this in my emails from time to time. And many of the newbies are those whom these scammers are targeting. The links that they give are unknown, and even the email domains that they use are suspicious. A knowledgeable user will avoid them, but sadly, there are new users who are not aware of it. They might give them a heart attack and will panic for them to click on those attached links if it says that they are hacked or there are some giveaways that they need to participate or some updates that needed to be done. Always verify the source, beginners but it's best to ignore and avoid them.

I guess you meant $100k and $500k and not $1k or 5k..  Its good for anyone who uses bitcoin to invest in it today. When you invest in bitcoin, you own the platform the more and want to have everything to do with it. Also have the plans of starting little and expanding until it gets bigger by the day. This is what we regard as DCA approach in bitcoin . Another good strategy but requires real serious consistency to be able to sustain your investment plans with the very meagre resources you could afford at that particular time.

- Learn the basics
You don’t need to become a developer, but it helps to know:
What is a wallet?
What’s the blockchain actually doing?
What is mempool?
Trust me it makes everything less intimidating
https://mempool.space/ (https://mempool.space/)

Thank you for this thread. I have covered few of these topics you've recommended. I am actually new to this forum, although I have made threads on topics I have learnt so far including mempool. But I must confess, even though I am still learning the platform seems to be difficult for me to cope alone, I wish I could have a professional who could give answers to all my curiosity in this platform.

OP has pretty much summarized all the basics a person needs to get started with bitcoin. So good work with that OP.
I liked the part where you mentioned to have two wallets, one as a main wallet and another for other things.
That is how I do it too. It's good to diversify our coins into multiple wallets to minimize the risk of loss of coins.
One hot wallet for all the regular payments and transactions is sufficient to keep things running smoothly.

Everything you said is important, especially for beginners, but the part I quoted is the most important I think, because anyone can be a victim of fraud. So let me explain more about it, people should be aware of scammer traps, most people who experience fraud are usually due to negligence or ignorance, therefore it is best to avoid anything that seems "Too shiny" or "Too Good to be True", and avoid anything that gives you extraordinary expectations, such as "Free Crypto" for example, so remember that nothing is free, and there is an important saying that "if something is free, you are the product" ( I found that it was from the words from Richard Serra, in 1973).

Regarding the using of multiple wallet is also important. Just imagine if one day we are careless and fall into a scammer trap, then we will most likely experience a big loss if the wallet we use is a wallet for storing and also for daily use of the cryptocurrency or Bitcoin that we own. Therefore, we should differentiate between wallets for daily use and wallets for storage purposes, for avoiding major losses due to the possibility of something undesirable happening. Personally, I keep my wallet for safekeeping or storage in a careful manner, I try to keep the wallet off the internet as long as possible and store it encrypted on a drive, as for the paper wallet, I also store it very carefully.

in the current economy, there is literally little to nothing that your $10 can buy for you let alone investing it once in a while in an asset as bitcoin and calling that kind of strategy an investment strategy that you are hoping will work out.

Even though it looks like an hard truth, newbies ought to know and understand that you do not get profit by investing so little. you might assume that you are investing the $10 as something you can afford to loose but the other part of such decision is that with such small amount, you can not earn well from your bitcoin or crypto because the way things works is that the higher the amount you put in the higher the returns you tend to get from it.

Yup, like any other high risk investments, it's extremly advisable to invest with money that you can afford to lose. And with literally every investment you put your money into, you ought to do some good research to be well versed with it less you face the risk of losing out on your money cause you failed to realize it was a ponzi scheme and not a viable investment opportunity.
Some newbies to bitcoin could hurriedly invest with a good chunk of money and then, get jumpy due to its volatility further down the line and would then sell off his coins, likely at a loss.

To know some of the basic and most mandatory terms that surrounds the use, accumulation and trading of Bitcoin and the Blockchain ecosystem is a good addition to take serious note of when in the shoes of a newbie just joining the Bitcoin bandwagon.

Any newbie to Bitcoin that hurriedly sell off their investment has been a victim of FOMO and while it would help to know the meaning of FOMO, it is good to increase one's vocabulary on the subject matter of Bitcoin and the Blockchain ecosystem.

If you are new in this forum make sure you study the rules carefully, for you to be able to stay long to be impactful with the knowledge of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies which are the major things we are discussing in this large forum, don't forget to visit or locate your local board to catch up on time because some of the local board members know how to use their mother tongue to explain and teach their newbies bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, and where to post with their mother tongue and where not to post with English league, buy in the dip and sell high is a common sense newbies should apply once they achieve the knowledge of bitcoin and have some funds to invest in bitcoin because it will open their eyes to know how to take advantage from bearish season and bullish season.

Very important for a beginner, and another thing a beginner needs to have in mind, is to invest small amounts and not rush in with a huge amount, especially when there is not much understanding of Bitcoin.

Some beginner investors make mistakes by investing too much, and after some time, if the market is not going the way they want, they end up selling their Bitcoin out of panic. Understanding Bitcoin better is very important because it is the understanding one has of Bitcoin that will enable one to stay calm in the market, and this understanding also helps one to make good decisions about one's investment.

The advice is actually not mandatory, but I have been doing it for quite a while. Separating assets for several wallets is not only aimed at protecting our consistency for investment but also at protecting the assets we have from hacking attempts. When we often engage in online activities with devices that we also use for wallet transactions, there is a risk from scammers. Just avoid activities that frequently connect to the wallet.

Have a separate email for your crypto investment, as well as your personal email. That way, you won’t be putting too much exposure on your crypto email account. The more private and silent it is, the safer your investment is.

And this is what I’ve been telling to everyone, always control your greed especially when it comes to your crypto investment. Your knowledge and good background on your investment will be left useless if you prioritize satisfying your greed on making more easy money.

Yes, it's an easy way to avoid these emails by avoiding them in our own ways. It's helpful and you don't have to worry.

Just don't sign up with that personal email in any website that you're interested in. Because sometimes, we get carried away and forgets the need to do that.

And that's the reason why there will be times that we might forget it. But, do practice it and it's very helpful to keep yourself away from those harms in this space.

I think people who love freebies fall for scam the most. I don't know why I don't like free things and I also do believe that there are no free things in the internet. I have never seen myself trying to claim an airdrop, trying to connect my network to somewhere, trying to earn coin by tapping my screen and lots more.

They certainly do and that's why they're quick to sign up those forms using their real email addresses.

I'm also careful about connecting my wallet to websites and if some forms require to do that, it's a sign that they shouldn't proceed with it.

But how naive they are when they use even their main wallet to easily connect to it because they're asked. From the desire to earn and participate from airdrops, they're losing their funds and when asked what happened, they'll deny that they did something.

I don't see the advice that I, and probably the majority, wished someone would have given me early on, better yet with an assurance that it could be one of the best things I can do in a lifetime. And that's to buy as much as I can and hodl it. The rest like avoiding keeping altcoins or investing in NFTs, taking note of the dos and don'ts, learning other technicalities, and others may only come as secondary.

To those who got it and didn't take heed of it, I guess this is easily their topmost regret.

What i get from your advice that is new to me is never to keep altcoins, its very strange to me. The person that introduced me to crypto advised me to buy more promising  altcoins and hodl because bitcoin is very high to buy and i wont make good profit from bitcoin since what i have to invest was not much. I bought some altcoins and during the altcoin bull run i made some cool cash.

I only sold the profit and left my capital, as a write all my capital has gone to zero, i regret keeping my altcoin now, i wish i knew about this long ago. I do not want to sell them, i believe it will rise again then i will sell everything.

Newbies buying Bitcoin with the amount that they can afford to loose is important, they don't have experience yet about how to protect their wallets. If they use significant amount to buy and they don't know how to protect their wallets it can be disasters if they lose their private keys, it is better to start small and start to learn, when they have a better understanding about how Bitcoin works then they can buy in lump sum. But it is better to buy Bitcoin without experience than to buy shitcoins without experience, Bitcoin can dip and recover but shitcoins are scams.

As a beginner,

It’s more important to learn about cryptocurrency security and how to keep your private keys or seed phrases safe as well as making a successful transaction to the right address than having to invest in cryptocurrency.

Yes, investing is important but, of what use would that be to you should you invest only to loose it to scammers or some error transaction. Bitcoin or cryptocurrency security is one of the most important aspects to cryptocurrency since, all you do is digital and most times, you need to have access to a network.

A solution for this;

Is to make an email specifically for your crypto needs and different from your personal transactions and compliance related to job/work or any other personal stuff.

And don't be too excited registering on free stuff online that requires your email to do it. They're funneling the emails of those interested people and scrapes the data into one database for their own usage.

That's why even out of nowhere we receive from emails we don't recognize and that's because we've been sold.
I think people who love freebies fall for scam the most. I don't know why I don't like free things and I also do believe that there are no free things in the internet. I have never seen myself trying to claim an airdrop, trying to connect my network to somewhere, trying to earn coin by tapping my screen and lots more.
Even when I receive such offers from legit exchanges, I don't honour them.
It happened to me to the extent that when signing up in casinos, I skip the welcome bonuses. I think this habit of not liking free things have helped me escape some kind of scams

What's the point of denying when it's their funds they are losing. In this industry, we don't wait to make the whole mistakes ourselves, rather we learn from the mistakes of others.
One thing I know for sure is that the cryptocurrency industry and scam are like 5&6. So, as long as this industry lasts, there must be scam and evolution of it. Anyone who is careless will always fall for even the cheaper scam.
Another thing I think some crypto guys don't have is contentment. Finding unrealistic ways to multiply their money.

I didn't say never. OP is talking about stuff that a crypto newbie would wish somebody would tell him/her. That's one. Newbies have no business playing with altcoins. It's playing with fire.

I also had altcoins. I made easy money from them. I kept many. Almost all of them eventually died. Even ETH, which is the king of altcoins have yielded negative profit in terms of Bitcoin, which is how I prefer to measure my portfolio.

Most, if not all, newbies when I started in crypto who went deep into altcoin would have been a lot richer had they focused solely on Bitcoin.

not your keys not your coins is absolutely made many people think that if you don't have full control means it isn't your funds even if it's your funds that you have deposited. There is a chance that your funds will be taken like you did not follow their rules or terms and conditions that's why many people prefer using non-custodial wallets where they have full control of their funds.

I think most newbies don’t take the time to understand Bitcoin properly they just jump in because of hype or FOMO and when the price dips they panic & sell then regret later if the price jumps to the right direction. bitcoin is long term thing, not a get rich quick scheme. if you study the basics like volatility, halving, supply cap and also learn terms like FOMO, HODL or even what blockchain actuallymeans, you will have more confidence to hold instead of rushing out at the first red candle you see. education is honestly the best investment before you pump in the actual money.

Some people are good at buying bitcoin consistently but the problem is that they don't know how to protect what they're accumulating, you'll be suprised that many still do save heavily on wallets in exchanges thinking it's safer cause it's safe in the exchanges wallet, some still don't understand what it means by not your keys not your coins and it's good that threads like these are created often to enlighten more people concerning Bitcoin security.
The non-custodial wallet like you've said is by far the safest cause users have full control of their asset without being under the mercies of the owners of an exchange or so, bitcoin has become a very important asset so it's good to secure it properly in a good wallet and not in some exchange.

- Be careful from Drainers
there are website that ask you to connect your wallet to get an Airdrop (free coins of an project) 99% them are scam
once u connect your wallet your Coins will be gone ( even if you have 0$  but you add balance to that wallet after few months they will be gone )
Read more about Drainers here https://usa.kaspersky.com/blog/what-is-a-crypto-wallet-drainer/29713/ (https://usa.kaspersky.com/blog/what-is-a-crypto-wallet-drainer/29713/)

Use 2 wallets  1 Main for Long term which you only store your Bitcoin as an invesment and dont touch till you are a millionaire
and the 2nd wallet for any payments or thing u need daily

All the points you mentioned are solid.New users should understand the differences between hot wallets, cold wallets, multisig, and hardware devices. For long-term storage, hard ware storage is essential. And keeping in mind that seed phrase should be written down physically in multiple backup spaces are very important because nowadays many prefer to store these sensitive details digitally with the risk of losing it at any time

How does vocabulary add to the knowledge of bitcoin and how to trade or invest in bitcoin. The only thing that I think is important is using the right terms as a trader. As for a long-term bitcoin investor, you don't need any vocabulary to know how to manage your bitcoin portfolio the right way. As long as you understand how to read and write, you can learn about bitcoin. I have gone through some bitcoin articles and the authors don't use big English grammars to explain the message that they're conveying to you

The problem with many is that they don't wait to learn from cryptocurrency before doing anything, because what we don't know will always have an edge over us, while ignorance is never an excuse, we need to understand why we should always play safe and be able to understand the normal procedures before taking steps in cryptocurrency, if we can invest with our money on what  we lack more information about shows we intentionally waste our fund, because mistakes becomes inevitable by us to do.

Money making precede anything to greed people, they don't want to learn but want to make. Like everyone is a literate in crypto until it's time to make money. The crypto market looks so easy to buy but when it's time to buy good thing, they make the wrong choice. I don't know how someone will wake up and say the only thing they have in their mind is meme coin. There are other coins to buy, I will buy any shitcoins before I send my last drop to any meme launcher.

I'm even concerned with how people rush to buy new coins. I was on X doing normal surfing of tweets and this particular coin launched by Trump family, it's something finance, the way it was shill I felt shame for many Trump families. These guys says things about Bitcoin but will never do anything about Bitcoin, they are using Bitcoin influence to push their rubbish coin to make money and gullible people are buying, the exchange don't even think twice before it's listed.

Knowledge is indeed power. When you have the right knowledge, you are as well equipped for your investment journey and can be able to handle everything that has to do with your investment in bitcoin, including scammers.

Just last week,  I received an unsolicited message from a scammer on Facebook messenger. He claimed he wanted to introduce me to an investment called bitcoin. According to him, bitcoin is any investment that multiplies every minute. I can invest and get double of my capital in few minutes.

It sounded so good to be true. I knew it was a scam, but what about newbies who are looking for where to get quick money without proper research? They will fall easily to that cheap scam.

No newbie should make himself a victim, learn alot about bitcoin before releasing money to invest. That's the approach I used before investing.
