Title: Be careful of what you Search online
Post by: Ambatman on September 15, 2025, 12:45:44 AM
Maybe not the title I want but it sounded easier in my head.

The essence of the thread is to share a case I came across on how google collect our data.
Not a fan of much talks so I'd share the image.

For those that want to confirm if it's true, I wanted to do the same until I saw a user That did.

As can be seen in the image, Google log our searches (incognito changes nothing) hence their personalized ads.

I'm bringing to awareness to those that ain't aware, Google isn't a search that cares about your privacy
You can check out this thread if you interested in doing better

P.S found it funny because it makes it seem like they are under the radar of the FBI

Not only about Inconigto mode does nothing, there was data leak with Incognito years ago.

After Lawsuit, Google Commits to Destroying Incognito Browsing Data. (https://www.cnet.com/tech/services-and-software/after-lawsuit-google-commits-to-destroying-incognito-browsing-data/)

You can not trust Google with all things happened in many years and how biased they were during the US President Election last year. They're untrustable in data security, user privacy, and search accuracy.

If you want privacy, use Tor on both mobile and desktop.

Well all are searches are log via search engines, at the same time who on earth would put a message on the search engine just to prove something, its not anonymous, incognito just works for you where you search won't show up on you're account history, it does not log it on the cache, although those information are not share with others sensitive or dangerous, or malicious act like, terrorism, or about to commit a crime should really be forwarded to authorities, even a threat is punishable by law,

I guess this topic was moved to off-topic by moderator and not the OP. It will be good if we truly have a board for security and privacy. But the matter has really died down.

I will recommend it for people that want to use it with apps like Electrum but I will not encourage anyone to use it with browsers. Tor will eliminate website cookies and browser fingerprinting better than using Orbit with VPN. I use Orbot while connecting with Electrum, Tor does others.

Incognito mode does not render anonymity. It simply prevents the browser on your computer to save your history. Google continues to keep logs of what you are searching, your IP address and whether or not you are signed in, it associates this information with your account. It is the way they create comprehensive profiles and sell them targeted advertisements.

There are instances of the amount of data held by Google. In 2018, an Arizona lawsuit established that Google stored location data of a user despite the user believing that this was off. This is why, a great number of privacy conscious individuals resort to the use of other alternatives like DuckDuckGo or Startpage, which do not track the search activity. Still, even with those, when you use a product of Google such as YouTube or Gmail, you leave data to Google.

In case of importance of privacy, one may not consider incognito or private browsing to be appropriate. Select search engines and browsers which suit your objectives, and do not confuse your real identity with your Bitcoin or personal exploration. The additional discipline puts a lot of difference in the long run.

At much as they are dangerous for finance, centralized services also create risks for web searching. SearXNG might be a first step in the right direction, but considering the everyday importance, this would deserve efforts towards fully decentralized solutions.

i am not surprised because when the police need to find something on you they might check your search history or your locations if they find anything suspicious on you this is why people ought to use browsers that can protect us

Our data is going on a daily basis but with what the information you are getting from online I think the data is not even enough because things are happening online without data you can't access it,those information you are seeing help our life mostly
