Title: How easy it is to be addicted to gambling?
Post by: Moreno233 on September 25, 2025, 03:35:41 AM
I have been gambling for years, maybe I have been addicted to it at some point even though I never noticed, however I'm a little in control of my gambling activities. Something still get me confused regarding gambling addiction that is a hot topic here and I want to get opinion of others on these areas:
  • How do you know you are addicted to gambling
  • How easy it is to be addicted to gambling?
  • Can an addicted gambler work himself out of that addiction without help from anyone, if yes, is it still addiction?

It's easy to know you are addicted to Gambling,  how you know you are getting addicted is that you often gamble than never before. You take it serious like never before, you spend more time doing some analysis and prediction than other things, you gamble more than you can afford to lose, you keep losing and complaining yet you still find yourself gambling. Another way of checking if you are getting addicted is to check and compear you Gambling activities before and now, maybe by checking your online gambling app to see the amount you stake per week, per month and annually. You could as well check how you can stay without gambling for a day or two. If you can't stay two days without gambling, then you are addicted. That is my own way of understanding about knowing if one is addicted or not.

  • How easy it is to be addicted to gambling?
It's as easy as possible. Getting in is easy, going out is difficult just like any other type of addiction like smoking, drinking and taken of drug etc.

  • Can an addicted gambler work himself out of that addiction without help from anyone, if yes, is it still addiction?
Working ones way out by yourself depends on the type of person in question, some people are more decicive than some, so if you are determined and decicive person then you can do it alone but if you are the type that can't do things alon without help from others then you will need a therapist or someone to cancil you.

I just think when an addict to gambling realized his priorities in life is, that is when he change, the life before will be all gone, and focus on making his life better, sadly some people never change but some does, a person is addicted to gambling when he gambles the money for his family simple as that, a person can be hook for can be addicted to gambling when he starts loosing the urge to, return the money that has been gone, make them addicted.

Well, first of all, there are several ways for a person to know that he or she is addicted to gambling, but one of the basic and simplest way to find out is when and if the person gets an urge to gamble, he or she becomes restless until he or she has gambled, it's like when you are hungry, your body is shivering until you get something to eat, so also it is for a gambling addict, you are not at ease with your self, you can't think straight until you have satisfied that urge to gamble, this is one way to truly know that you are addicted to gambling..

And secondly, how easy or hard it is for someone to get addicted to gambling depends on the individuals and their different attitude towards gambling, those who lack absolute self control and gamble every blessed day are likely to get addicted faster than the one that gamble maybe 4 to 5 times in a week, the more frequent you Gamble, the faster you get addicted.

And thirdly, yes, it is possible for an addicted gambler to work him or herself out of that addiction without any help from anywhere or someone else, but this will have to depend on the level of addiction, some one who is slightly and or newly addicted or just about getting addicted can work him or herself out easily, but for the person who is already deeply addicted to gambling, it will most likely will be very hard for him or her to work himself out without external help.

  • How do you know you are addicted to gambling
When the drive for gambling is higher than the drive to engage in productive tasks and when you gambling interferes with your activities in an unhealthy way and you're unable to control yourself and how often you gamble. Worse still, gambling more even when you're already dealing with a big financial loss

I actually did work my way through. I had to quit gambling for some years, replaced my grabbling urge with a digital skill which gave me money and returned a more disciplined and cautious gambler.

It’s very simple. The reason we work hard is because of money, to have the funds for our needs and wants. And gambling, aside from the entertainment, is mostly about money too. In fact, many gamblers wish they could win a life changing amount and then quit. But we all know that’s very hard to achieve. Still, gamblers are persistent and won’t stop until they think they’ve reached it. Greed for money is one of the main reasons, wanting more, whether you’re just an average joe or a high roller.

Imho gamblers have different levels of addiction. A person who gambles often or regularly, and a gambler who thinks all the time about his losses, how to recover them and where to get more money are both addicted to gambling. However their behaviour and attitude towards gambling differs. Even a person who frequently only visit online casino to collect tiny amount of free crypto (few sats) is also addicted, but his addiction is harmless :D

Gambling addiction shows when you keep playing despite losses, hide your gambling, or cant stop thinking about it.
It’s easy to develop because gambling releases dopamine and creates a strong urge for more.
You can quit on your own, but its very hard and even if you succeed, it was still a real addiction that you managed to overcome.

Addiction doesn't start overnight it is usually a gradual process and most times the gambler wouldn't know that he is drifting off and the signs begins to be noticeable by others. The easiest way to be addicted is when a gambler can no longer control himself, he will feel incomplete until he gambles and that is when he will have peace. When a gambler is constantly broke because of gambling, when he uses most of his money to continuously chase loses that is a serious sign of addiction. An addict needs to first come to the realization that he his addicted and makes up his mind that he needs help, that is the first step to recovery. If he cannot stop by himself he needs to get help from loved ones and professionals.

In my opinion, it's so easy that you don't even realize you've become addicted to gambling.
To answer the questions, how do you know if you're addicted? You simply gamble often and always want to.
    The ease is disarming.
You can certainly overcome addiction, but the desire to do so must come first and foremost from the person involved. Those who are psychologically weak clearly need
    help.

Very easy to become an addicted gambler, you have a taste of gambling victory you get lured even more, you lose money you get mad for losing the money and you want to get the money back, both the left and right of gambling is full of addiction.

There is no side with its own good ending but one logic triumph over all, that is risking money you can let go if losses comes, and it is clearly that lose finds gamblers more than they will win.

Erase the idea of making big money, it is a trap, that is where the crazy race begins, and may people don't ever recover from the race, you put yourself in a very discomfort place if you plan to be wealthy through gambling.

Exactly - I have seen it with people I know when we used to work right beside the
"Bookies shop". My colleague would just pop next door at least 3 times 'every day'
to place bets...and then would stop at a different one on his way home to make another
bet - it seemed like it was the biggest thing to the forefront of his thinking.

Personally I think there are certain types of people who have an addictive nature and
who get addicted quite easily to things and probably dont realise it. Maybe other people
who need money and turn to gambling to make money as a last resort and find they
    grt addicted.

Yes as above it is possible but not everyone can. There is a reason there are addiction
services being provided for all manners of addictions because not everyone can
    do it themselves.

Yes, it's easy to be addicted to gambling, specially that it is accessible more than ever. Before the pandemic, online gambling is not that huge as far as I know. But now, it's different, if you have internet and then mobile phone and seeing a lot of ads, then perhaps you will be enticed to play. To answer your questions:

    1. You know if you are addicted if you are playing like everyday.
    2. As I have said, easy access today, so very easy to get addicted.
    3. Not really sure about this question, but if someone whats to get out of addiction, then first he or she has to acknowledge it before others can give the help needed.

Addiction is something serious that affect a person and most times they are not aware of it yet until it grows too high to certain extent. It's easy to know when you're addicted to something but the problem is that most addict don't admit that they are addicted. When you think too much of gambling and you keep gambling even with your last money then you're definitely addicted. An addicted gambler finds himself chasing after his losses and sometimes gambling has direct effect on other aspects of your life which most times is a negative effect.

How easy? It's not difficult to get addicted, most of the times you won't even notice it or know you're doing anything wrong.

I personally don't think it is possible to overcome addiction by oneself.

These days, its easier than people think to get addicted, uncontrolled gambling, chasing losses, lying or hiding expenses, ruining careers or relationships &  unsuccessful attempts to cut back are all enough to make someone addicted to gambling, you probably dont need to reach a low point to become addicted. The combination of the ease of access to apps, nonstop 24/7 service &  variable rewards rewires the brain like other addictions.

Ive seen many people recover naturally from addiction however if you feel like you are addicted or are worried about your financial & mental health, seeking professional help right away or using structured support like blocks or selfexclusion can greatly reduce your chances harm. dont let ego be the thing that fu*k you over.

Some people can get addicted to almost anything, and you can become addicted to gambling very quickly.
However, you can also prevent that from happening.

Work on your mental strength and ask yourself: When I look in the mirror, do I want to see a gambler, or a strong, productive person doing great things?

Easy choice, right? Think strong, be strong.

Sure, gambling can be fun—but that’s all it should ever be. If you’ve got 20 minutes to spare and some money you don’t need, go ahead and enjoy yourself. Just never let it take control over you.

The fact that you have not noticed anything that could indicate addiction probably means that you are still at the right path lol. It just means that no effects of gambling especially bad ones have been too obvious enough for you or anyone to notice. If you are addicted in gambling, you would have problems of financial means already.

Gambling can become addictive when you cant stop despite losses, constantly think about it, or gamble to escape stress, and while some people can regain control on their own, professional help usually makes recovery more likely, though it’s still considered an addiction even if self-managed. However for the cases of small gamblers thats when the problem start when they become one. Borrowing money and got deep debts waiting for doing so.

If you are still playing but you don't need to, or the purpose is not to enjoy it anymore. I believe that's gambling addiction already or near it.

Also, if one person is spending hours gambling, that can also be a sign of gambling addiction. Then, checking yourself can give you some hints too. If a person gets easily mad with simple or small problems, that's a sign too. If a person doesn't want to socialize anymore could also be a sign of addiction.
I think it can be detected easily when you monitor a person, but it won't be seen in plain sight.

Probably not so easy to know, but simple litmus test is trying watch a match with money on your account and money in hand (bank account or crypto wallet) and see if you will have that edge to gamble, if that money stays untouched then you are in the clear as this shows control and mind isn't really invested in gambling.

Very much possible, talking to someone is just one step of acceptance... Almost similar to a grieving person, but only this time it's gambling based and you can navigate yourself out of it.

But when it gets to the point were you feel uncomfortable if you haven't gambling for a day, when the first time you think about every day when you wake is gambling, you find out you are spending more time than you usually do when you started gambling, just know that you are getting addicted.

Yes that's if you know that you are addicted without anyone telling you, and you truly have this desire to come out of addiction. You can pull yourself out of it, it will be hard at the beginning, but if your desire to come out of addiction is greater than your passion for gambling you will come out of it.

There are guidelines to know whether a person is getting addicted to gambling, one can have a self-check whether he is developing addiction or is already addicted.  Without self-testing on addiction, one can never realized or notice that he is addicted especially if he is somehow carefree.

Gambling addiction us a gradual process, it does not start immediately you start gambling, it takes time and it depends on how you get yourself involved in gambling activities.

If you are someone that observes himself properly, even out of gambling, you will know when things are going on well or not going well with you, involving in various activities with timing for each thing you do makes you know when you are over doing a particular habit or activity and if you are truly sincere to yourself, you will adjust yourself.

In getting addicted in gambling, you find yourself, neglecting order of your activities for gambling alone, you always want to be in the casino or gambling shop placing odds, everything about you is only gambling and nothing else, which shows you are getting addicted gradually and if you don't re-trace your steps you will get fully addicted which will be difficult for your to handle and if you are fast to know that you are already addicted, then you don't have a choice than to start working yourself out of it by reducing the time and amount spent in the casino, reduce your gambling friend and time you hang out with them , avoid discussing gambling often only when you are at the casinos and when out, forget about gambling, focus on other areas and  activities in your life more, this will help you come out of addiction .

It is simple to know but a gambler that is addicted to gambling may argue that he is not addicted. They know they are addicted when they have the feeling to stop gambling or to stop the addiction. But anyone that is frequently gambling and losing money than usual, the person is addicted.

It is very easy to be addicted to gambling but most gamblers are only losing money and not get to the point of addiction.

Yes, addicted gambler can stop the addiction. This could begin when he knows that gambling is not a way to make money. But if self help is not working, he can go for a rehab instead.

It’s easy to fall when you’re not responsible .. that’s why they always say “gamble responsibly,” even casinos have warnings about it.
And it’s important that you’re at the right age and mature enough, because minors can get addicted easily, that’s why they’re not allowed. At the very least, follow the rules, that’s the first step.

Self awareness is very important in every aspect of life, this is what you wake you from sleep when you are passing your own boundaries, and you ate simply a fool if you ignore the warnings.

Every gambler must have a target before they start gambling, you will know that you are doing something wrong the moment you start to break your own rules and ways, e.g risking more than you are used to, spending more times in the casino than the past. These are all linked to gambling addiction, to work yourself out of addiction can be tough if your mind have not been made up, you must first be ready to give up on irresponsible gambling, get help if you think you really need one, but the solution is inside of you.

If gambling is your only leisure activity, it's quite easy to develop a gambling addiction. How do you know if you're becoming addicted to gambling? All your thoughts, all your plans, and all your desires are always focused on the game. People tend to think about things that resonate with them. Catch yourself in these thoughts from time to time and see where they're directed. Some people love to drink alcohol and are eager to obtain it, while others love to gamble, and their thoughts are always focused on the game. As long as a person understands that they can become addicted, they have the power to control themselves, but there comes a point when this understanding disappears. In these cases, gambling addiction literally sets in, which can only be treated by professional psychologists.

Getting addicted to gambling is easy but we will not know for sure. We will feel that we are okay but the fact is we are addicted to gambling. We will not see that but other people will see and if they care about us, they will ask us to help stay away from gambling.

Although addicted gamblers can work themselves out of that addiction, they need other people to help them stay awake and stay away from gambling. Other people can ask him to do many things and make him busy so his mind will not think about gambling.

It shows great courage and self awareness to ask about gambling addiction which is mainly defined by how much control activity has over your life with key warning signs including trying to win back lost money and failing to stop gambling and lying about it and risking your job or relationships. Addiction can be easy to fall into for some people because gambling triggers brain reward system and modern betting is available everywhere but some individuals can recover on their own but it was still addiction and getting professional help is always strongly advised to increase chances of staying recovered.

I think that overcoming gambling addiction is hindered by an inflated ego, because a person believes they are too smart to admit defeat and to see themselves as a loser. This is what provokes reckless actions, which in turn lead to debt problems and conflicts with others. This same reason also prevents people from seeking professional help, because such actions would confirm their weakness, and others might see it.

Agreed, when you're getting addicted, the signs will be there but lots of people choose to ignore this signs because they're having fun or it seems like that's what they're doing without realizing that they're putting their finances into trouble. You'll be losing more money than your usual losses when you're addicted, the reason is because you'll be gambling more often. There isn't a way you'll be addicted and still be making money. It's a rare situation that addicted gamblers are getting more profits than the losses hence when you begin to see yourself losing more and you're not stopping then begin to know you're getting addicted. When you aren't addicted, you're supposed to stop for a little while if you're losing constantly to regroup before going back to gamble .

I have been gambling for years, maybe I have been addicted to it at some point even though I never noticed, however I'm a little in control of my gambling activities. Something still get me confused regarding gambling addiction that is a hot topic here and I want to get opinion of others on these areas:

      • How easy it is to be addicted to gambling?

I think there are some signs to understand if you are addicted to gambling, such as: increased attention to money, frustration or initiative when you stop gambling, reluctance to do important things in life or loss of relationships, inability to quit gambling. If your money and time are out of control, that is a big sign of addiction. It is very easy to become addicted to gambling. When you win a few times in gambling, greed will work in you and you will gradually want to take more risks. There are also some who, even after losing, continue to play again and again just because of the addiction in the hope of profit. Since gambling is mentally stimulating and exciting, it easily creates addiction. However, the level of addiction is not the same in everyone. Getting out of gambling addiction takes some time. This requires strong will and awareness. In some cases, gambling has a deep impact on them mentally and physically, making it difficult for them to overcome this impact. So in that case, I think it is important to get help or try on your own.

      • How easy it is to be addicted to gambling?
Very easy, one factor is the environment, maybe you, your families and extended families are into gambling, then obviously if will spill on you. Or maybe someone just influence you the first time and then you become hook.

      • Can an addicted gambler work himself out of that addiction without help from anyone, if yes, is it still addiction?
Yes, there's always a way out from addiction, just like in any vices. But you really need to have the mental toughness to go and you are willing, your mind and body. For sure many of us here who was once are addicted, but they snap from it. They could be still gambling by today, but it's not like before wherein they just dedicated their time and money to gamble.

If you are addicted to gambling, then you won't have self control over your desires to gamble, you might say you are  ot going to gamble today but before you realize it, you will find yourself doing it, you might say you don't want to gamble with a certain amount that you have set for a specific purpose but before you know it, you have spent the money on gamble. There are more symptoms but I can only think of a few now, to get addicted to gambling is very easy if you allow yourself, that's why when you start seeing these symptoms, don't allow them to overwhelm you.
An addicted gambler can help himself but it depends on the self determination.

It is actually pretty easy to get addicted to gambling because of how the brain works with reward and excitement..  The joy of winning makes people rush, and even when they lose, they still chase that next win hoping to recover. Over time, this cycle can trap someone without them even realizing it.
That is why setting limits and knowing when to walk away is so important, otherwise it can quickly go from fun to a real problem…

Tried gambling today and hit the jackpot prize. I will tell you that starting tomorrow, you will be gambling again, spending more, and becoming addicted. Not all, but it is a usual thing to happen.

Many people gamble for the reason of just having fun, but guess what happens next? From just saying it was an entertainment, it has become a habit already. Honestly, a lot of things change from an early win. Because greed is already in ourselves. Once we've been given the chance to win, we ask for more (and more).

When you are spending more time and money on gambling than necessary, you should understand that you are moving towards addiction. When you are spending more money on gambling instead of meeting your daily needs or giving importance to gambling even in the midst of family poverty, then you should understand that you are deeply addicted to gambling. Basically, addiction means that you do it again and again even though you know that it will harm you and later regret it. It is very easy to get addicted to tempting things if you are weak in self-control. It is not easy to get addicted to anything if you have self-control. No one can get out of an addiction alone, there must be a second person in some way or the other. Either to wake you up or send you to rehabilitation.

It's not hard to tell if you're addicted to gambling, because you'll often look for a way to do it. You'll always find a way to gamble,
Even if you don't have money, you'll find a way, even if you have to borrow, just to satisfy your desire.

Especially if you're a rich person, you'll surely make the casino your second home, or you'll often be online gambling as well.
      for sure.

Gambling addiction is a gradual process and the moment you start seeing gambling as a means of survival or where your means of making money lies, then at that point you are getting addicted to it. And also the moment you start getting yourself into so many controversies and problems all in the name of gambling activities but even after getting out of those controversies, some of which might even be life threatening , yet you didn’t limit or quit gambling, at that point you’re deeply addicted to gambling. But for someone who only gamble for fun, you gamble not necessarily because you depend on it for your survival, that means you can have a little bit of control and you can decide when to gamble and when not to gamble.

It is easy to get addicted once you start loving some slot machines games as they are the number one reason for people to get addicted  in the first place. The following signs continue after you love them and play them almost every day, you start believing you will win the max win, you start watching streamers to reinforce this view on yourself and the most important indicator, you start depositing like crazy in trying to chase your loses. Once you are in this last step you are definitely totally addicted, you don't come here that fast but once you come then there is trouble waiting for you. I was in such condition and my way out was as soon as I needed to gamble I thought to myself, this money better in my wallet than that of the casino, here I am proud recovered person.

Becoming addicted to gambling is certainly very easy you just need to instill the mindset that you can get rich by gambling. Because by doing so, you'll continue gambling, even if you keep losing. You won't think about the risk of loss, but rather, winning will become your top priority, which will inevitably lead to a gambling addiction, driven by the desire for big wins. Becoming addicted to gambling doesn't require finding a way even doing it yourself will become addictive over time, especially if your focus is solely on winning.

Your questions makes me reflect back when a mad man is walking under Sun and said "this sun could make someone mad". Lols,
Usually when you are addicted the signs are over attention or zealous to what you are doing it must not be gambling but to whatever you are addicted to. To know how you are addicted to something is when you can't do without that particular thing in a day or two, from them you should be able to detects that you are gradually sinking into addiction.

      1. Some may not even know they are addicted in gambling.
      2. Those being addicted didn't planned it, it grow at the course of time.
      3. He can try to, but believe me its not that easy to achieve doing, its something that pile up over time, every gambler should understand why they have to be discipline in gambling.

Most times you dont really know you are addicted. At some point, you get addicted and come out of it. Well, I will say it is the mindset and self awareness. When you get addicted, you wont know unless you realize later that the habit is becoming part of your daily routine and that you cant stop yourself from gambling. When gambling becomes a hindrance to your life, growth and fulfillment, it becomes an addiction. At that moment you should quit gambling, if you dont, you begin to find yourself getting deeper until it becomes very difficult to quit.

*Very easy, Gambling games was designed to entertain people which means you will keep playing regardless if you win or lose because you are being entertained. Too much entertainment is the common trigger to become addicted.

You should know that there are different stages of addiction, the last as well as the worst stage is where you cannot live without it, you need it everyday even when you dont have the money to gamble, you check Livescores everyday to check out the results of different matches and get ready to bet the next time whenever money comes your way, if you are a regular earner, then you bet everyday and it becomes a habit that you leave with it.

Working yourself out of any addiction is when an addict has decided to change, when gambling suddenly irritates you, when you cant feel the vibes off it anymore, for sport bettors, it happen when you no longer watch football matches anymore, score results doesnt freak you anymore, and so the urge to quit is becoming strong while sooner of later, you stop gambling forever.

You cant force stop it yourself, these mood swings has to come to your spiritual system to enable you release the gambling habit, ideas, situation that no longer serve you.

Once you start doing things that does not align with what gambling represents then you should know that is either you are addicted or you about to get addicted to gambling but I'm some cases people won't know that they are addicted, they think that they are the same as they use to be when they have not gone that far, gambling addiction starts when some gamblers want to try things they were not doing before.

It is easy and very difficult for some people to get addicted in gambling, it is just a matter of how people are able to control themselves by gambling without giving much of their time and energy to it.

Sincere speaking, it is very difficult for an addicted person to be free from the shackles of addiction on his own with anyone's help but he has to start from some where first because I believe to some point that someone who is addicted knows that he is in some shit, so if such person can identify that then coming out of it will not be a problem but people must help by whichever means they can.

How do you know you are addicted to gambling
Gotta love how the sheep talk about these things in a superficial matter. There is no easy way to determine whether you are addicted to gambling or not. It is only easy to determine it if you are extremely addicted. There is no clear point at which a deep habit turns into an addiction. There are signs to watch out for, but it is not as easy as these empty brained mongrels make it out to be.

          Quote
Signs and symptoms of compulsive gambling (gambling disorder) can include:

          • Being preoccupied with gambling, such as constantly planning gambling activities and how to get more gambling money
          • Needing to gamble with increasing amounts of money to get the same thrill

Big emphasis on the can word, but I doubt many will understand the implications.

How easy it is to be addicted to gambling?
I would not say it is easy when compared to something like heroin or crack where even 1 time use could get you hooked. However, neither it is very hard like getting addicted to completely non addictive substances or actions. It is medium. It requires a fair amount of initial time. Returning to play over and over again but after a while it gets you.

Can an addicted gambler work himself out of that addiction without help from anyone, if yes, is it still addiction?
Yes and yes. Some people manage to quit heroin cold turkey on their own, but that requires a determination and willpower that very few people have. Those that argue otherwise argue it because they are weak willed people and their project their weaknesses onto the world instead of looking at the objective reality of it.

It is simple to know but a gambler that is addicted to gambling may argue that he is not addicted. They know they are addicted when they have the feeling to stop gambling or to stop the addiction. But anyone that is frequently gambling and losing money than usual, the person is addicted.

It is very easy to be addicted to gambling but most gamblers are only losing money and not get to the point of addiction.

Yes, addicted gambler can stop the addiction. This could begin when he knows that gambling is not a way to make money. But if self help is not working, he can go for a rehab instead.

Indeed gambling addiction occurs gradually and in most cases gamblers falls the victim without realizing it earlier, on general point every gambler is vulnerable and prone to getting addicted regardless of what purposes you are gambling for, someone who gamble for fun can end up chasing losses and gradually become addicted, immunity for gambling addiction is not really something anyone should be proud of because it can swift you up even when you even expected it can, while it can happen to anyone what matters is how we respond or react to it after which we have realized what we have gotten in to, there is enough hope for every addict provided they are willing to work towards a positive change.

Others can discuss the rest of the questions but I will dwell on this!
Firstly the thinking that you can escape addiction allow is where you will never get out of it, I always suggest that seeking of help is the most important thing anyone can do and that alone can get you off it! the courage of asking for help only signifies that you are fully ready to receive a method of help that will be offered. Hence I suggest you should heste to do the necessary by asking for helping hands.

          • How do you know you are addicted to gambling

Though there are too many signs of addiction but I'm going to point at one of the sign, that's mood swing. This sign is very common among gamblers even those that are gambling with the intention of having fun still experiencing this mood swing most times, rather they have thier own way of handling it whenever they experiencing it, while those that are not discipline enough may handle it roughly and they will be surprised to see themselves doing the opposite, and sometimes you won't even discover that you're literally turning into a gambling addict not until you run into trouble.

          • Can an addicted gambler work himself out of that addiction without help from anyone, if yes, is it still addiction?

Sure is possible for an addicted gambler to work himself out of addiction, but I would say that it all depend on gamblers because some gamblers are facing financial crisis due to thier bad gambling habit, they have sold everything just in the name of gamble, yet they can't let go. While other gamblers who are also facing similar challenge were able to realize that it was gambling that put them in that mess so therefore they have to let go.

          • How do you know you are addicted to gambling
          ...
Most times you dont really know you are addicted. At some point, you get addicted and come out of it. Well, I will say it is the mindset and self awareness. When you get addicted, you wont know unless you realize later that the habit is becoming part of your daily routine and that you cant stop yourself from gambling..
I’ll agree with this point… a lot of people don’t even realize they’re already hooked.
The worst part is that you usually realize the addiction only when you’re already in deep, and without iron self-control (which not everyone has) or outside help, it’s extremely hard to get out. The key is to be honest with yourself early: “Yeah, I’ve got a problem” - and deal with it before it consumes you. Sure, gambling can be fun, but when that fun starts dictating your choices and running your day, you’ve crossed into addiction territory.

Gambling is a trap and I believe if newbie gamblers started with that awareness and mindset, there probably would be lesser records of addiction. No one person initiated to be addicted to Gambling but it's designed to hook the brain in ways similar to drugs or alcohol.Setting boundaries before addiction strikes should be prioritized.

          You have raised a good question of enquiry here. At least this would also help members who do not know they are at the early stage of addiction, be able to detect it after reading through the replies and comments. As for your questions, here are my own simple opinions about them;

When you are addicted to gambling, your urge to gamble now and then increases, and you gamble with every and any little funds you have, you have no limit to how and what you gamble on, you set no boundaries for yourself, and you always have the chase for losses to recover them all, which is very dangerous and the result is addiction.

It only takes discipline for one to first minimize the rate at which they gamble. When this has been put in place, it is easier to achieve because the focus is on reducing the rate at which one frequents the casino. No one stops addiction so easily without the help of a therapist who would help guide them to make sure they follow all necessary protocol to achieve their aims. So, stopping addiction by oneself can be a bit difficult when you have no guidance from anybody.

          • How do you know you are addicted to gambling
There are ways but to make it conclusive, try to stop your gambling for couple of week and if you can wait out with no problem then your are fine but if you have urge to gamble as soon as possible then it's time to make the changes.

          • How easy it is to be addicted to gambling?
If you keep doing anything with no limit then it is addiction which can happen over the course of few months.

          • Can an addicted gambler work himself out of that addiction without help from anyone, if yes, is it still addiction?
It is possible but unlikely to work it on by the person itself if the addiction is kind of in a severe stage, he can stop it with no problem with cold turkey method but he will end up after a while and then play it hard so need a working strategy like gradually reducing the time spent or better a rehab if no method is working.

I think that not all addicted understand this step. Even if they lose small amounts (larger for their pockets) they don't realize their condition:
          Quote
urge to gamble despite harmful consequences to one's life, relationships, work, and finances
Substitute "gamble" with other verbs and you have a definition of all ::) addiction.

I think that people that can't stop to gamble or have binge session/strange gambling habits harmful must immediately seek help from others or at least start to take seriously the matter like any other harmful addiction!

One thing that can definitely be seen if you are addicted to gambling is the increased gambling activity compared to your previous habits. The amount of money you allocate to each session is uncontrolled, and you begin to lose control over your financial management.

A gambler may gamble more frequently but may not necessarily increase their deposits. I'm not sure how easily a gambler can become addicted; I think it all depends on the awareness of each gambler.

An addicted gambler can address their own problems, but it also depends on how severe the addiction is. If they are still new, a gambler's awareness to improve their activities can be achieved.

Gambling addiction means that you will have an obsession to continue gambling, whatever your purpose in gambling, you will continue to do it every day. You should be aware of this situation. Addiction also has levels that you can find within yourself. At what stage is your addiction?

Gambling addiction can easily take hold of a person because it involves emotions. Gambling is filled with the emotions of winning and losing. Everyone has their own way of managing their emotions, but if they lose control of their emotions, addiction will take hold.

Of course, it is possible without anyone's help, namely your determination to stop your gambling addiction. If your determination to stop is strong enough, you will be able to control yourself from addiction and be free from it. However, this will happen again if you still have emotions that you cannot control, even if you have successfully escaped addiction through your own strength.

It is really easy to get addicted to anything, basically  you start doing more often or more than usual becomes an habit and the reason why this happens is because your Brain starts getting used to it. When you start deriving pleasure from something you light not even notice that it's gradually becoming an addiction, it's easier to get addicted to something than trying to break free from it and to answer your last question an addicted gambler can work on himself alone

It's not that it's easy to become addicted, but I think some people are more prone to addictions in general. It's very important to observe how much of your time and money gambling is taking up. If you notice yourself putting casinos ahead of your priorities, like work, family, or friends, or if gambling becomes your priority, there's a good chance you're addicted. I believe that when gambling becomes more important than anything else, and you do everything to make money for it, addiction has already set in. No one becomes addicted overnight; it starts slowly, once a week, then three times a week. Before you know it, you'll be gambling daily, any time of day, anywhere (if you realize it).

You are absolutely right, getting addicted to gambling is neither easy or hard, it simply depends on the gambler, and like you've have right said, addiction to gambling isn't something that happens overnight, it's always a gradual process which If the gambler will take note of on time and retrace his or her steps, he or she may likely savage himself of herself from the situation.

Every gambler can avoid getting addicted to gambling by simply gambling while adhering to every rules that pertains or relates to responsible gambling, who ever is gambling responsibly will hardly get addicted to, and responsible gambling is very easy to practice, but the issue is usually that most gamblers out of greed ver off to gamble in their own way and this is where that addiction starts from.

first you must know what it means to be addicted. Being addicted to gambling doesn't mean you are always showing up. It means you gambling with no sign of stoping. So many gamblers lose alot of money every single day, trying to make that big bag. They failed to see that you can't hit a jackpot by losing too much. You have to be abel to preserve your bankroll as a gambler. When you get addicted, you might notice how you no longer are able to do without placing a bet every single second of the day. You are always checking to see if there's a chance to win.
Can you work it out on your own? Yes of course. Addiction is more like a psychological thing. If you are able to evaluate your self and knowledge you are addicted, then it's possible to stop your self..

Gambling over the years doesn't just become an addiction. Any kind of addiction is very harmful. So in my opinion, there is a special way to recognize addiction.

          1. If you start spending your days without doing that thing, then you need to understand that that thing has become your addiction.

          2. No matter what your financial situation is, if you can't quit gambling, then you also need to understand that gambling has become your addiction.

And I believe that there is nothing a person cannot do. If you can force yourself to put yourself in that situation, then you can get rid of any addiction. First of all, you need to make a strong commitment to yourself. A commitment to stop gambling. You have to make that promise in exchange for something that is very strongly connected to your emotions. If you ever break your promise, you will lose that emotional object. And you need to keep all things related to gambling away from you. That is, you need to change the environment around you. A change in environment can also normalize an addict.

Gambling addiction starts with an action of doing and when such an action is done repeatedly for more than 21days, it is stored in the long term memory  and new neural pathways is formed. It is more or less a conscious effort becoming an unconscious activity later on.

If one stops on their own after experiencing the ills of gambling excessively, they often reinforce other activities with action to keep them distracted from going back to gambling, otherwise one may be tempted to mostly at free time when no one is around, give it one more try because they feel lucky.

It is as easy to stop gambling as it is as easy to say 'No'.

Of course as a gambler that normally have control when gambling might not no know if he is addicted to gambling because you are fully in control of yourself, just like as you didn't noticed. However, it is when a gambler have no control over his gambling activities he would start noticing it. Without being told, because by then all your focus would be on how to becoming rich overnight that is how addiction would be increasing more and more because you are no longer in control of yourself anymore.

I get to know that when my energy is driven towards gambling irrestibly without control and it's much easier yo get addicted more especially when you tend to be idle and doing nothing. Of course an addicted gambler can walk out of that situation at any time provided such person is ready and discipline with their decisions but it takes awhile though.

Sometimes some people don't know when they are addicted because they will be feeling they are playing normal or the way they are suppose to play gamble and those of them with this feeling won't and can never listen to you instead they will see you as someone that doesn't know what he or she is saying. One way to understand or know you are an addict is gambling often regardless of your loss.

It is very easy for someone to be addicted in gambling in fact someone can use as minimum as 2-4 days to turn an addict by constant gambling especially those people with the mindset of greed and making a living through gambling.

One can work himself out if he observe this early because if they don't observe it early and they have started, they will hardly accept or recognize they are addicted because you can only work on something if you know and believe that Is wrong.

Yes, if you have willpower and really want to, it's just like a smoker or most smokers quit smoking, because they find the courage and the desire to do it.

One of the thing about being addicted to gambling is not knowing if you are addicted to it or not . Most time you belike am not addicted to gambling until you realize that you can’t stay a day without placing a bet, addiction usually start from the mindset of thinking you can get rich through gambling, you have already feed your mind with such thought and it would want to work towards it

That’s why when you lose money you will have more urge to continue same with when you win too but is more when you lose , at that moment what you be looking for is what will cover up those losses for you which may lead to you placing random bets hoping one will it the jackpot , and at then you are already getting addicted to it .

Yes you can very much be free from the grip of gambling addiction , but first you have to first agree to the fact that you are addicted to it and you want to reduce the urge of gambling all the time at then you have already set your mind to such goal that you have to be free from the gambling addiction.

Just take hold of some moment and reverse your gambling app now and then. How often and consistently have you been on this game? You can tell with the amount you have spent so far gambling because it's not how often you spend. Especially when you gamble beyond what you earn, and even when you are ready to risk what you have, like your last card, just to gamble, this is addiction. It's just like any other addiction, of course, when you are going the extra mile just to gamble.

Another way to know is, what comes to your mind first once you have money? Is it to double it with gambling or use it to fix the important things in your life? Or if someone sent you on a monetary errand, do you feel like doubling it first and then using the other to fix the stuff? These are signs of addiction.

Yes, you can stop addiction by yourself. Firstly, you have to accept that you are addicted to gambling, then you have to plan on how to work on it.
Set your rules first. Like, you can set some setting amount to use for a week, and once it's done, you let go for the week, either win or loss. Once you win, don't use the higher amount to gamble again. Use less of it or just go home with the win. Be self-disciplined; when money comes, make sure you fix your needs before you gamble. That's how to overcome addiction.

The moment gambling shifts from being an entertainment and begins to affect your finances, relationship or even your day to day responsibility, and you still feel you can't do without it, then you should know it is  clearly an addiction. It is quite easy to become addicted as gambling combines chance, reward and the emotions so much in a way that the brain get hooked. Though some may be able to struggle their way away from it but only with strong discipline and will, yet some requires support system. When you can quit by yourself and yet no relapse, that can be said to be a bad habit instead of a complete addiction.

          • How do you know you are addicted to gambling

Addition is an act or behaviour that you keep doing consistently against other activities or behaviour. So if you find yourself always gambling despite your loses and you pay less attention to other areas of life, not giving attention to family then you know you are addited to that thing taking your attention. So if you are gambling excessively and to the detriment of other aspect of your life, you sure know that you are addicted to gambling.

          • How easy it is to be addicted to gambling?

Very easy and I think if you are playing for the money (of course many gamblers do), and you are losing then you keep playing and chasing your loses. This is the fastest way to be addicted. Greed is the main reason for addiction in gambling.

          • Can an addicted gambler work himself out of that addiction without help from anyone, if yes, is it still addiction?

Yes, it is possible. If you have lost and get broke to an extent you can come back to your consciousness. This most times happens if you are not missing gambling with drugs but if you are also taking drugs while being addicted to gambling, it is difficult to help yourself out. But, if you are only a gambling addict one day you may decide to let go of it.

Yeah, no one plans from the start to get addicted to gambling, for some who get addicted along the line, it started as a means to get away from other activities, maybe a way just while away time and have fun,  and then at some point, for one reason or another, they find themselves devoting more time and putting more resources to fuel their gambling lifestyle, and that’s how they saw they were addicted, while some may have actually saw it coming but took no actions to combat it. Either ways, it all starts from a gambler’s mindset and approach towards gambling.

Firstly gamblers who are addicted have zero idea about their gambling habit so it’s very difficult identifying the fact a gambler is addicted while identifying the act of addiction is different from quitting. Quitting addiction is very difficult compared to healthy gambling practice, viewing gamblers experience shared on the internet they got a good help from therapist mostly family members although even with the right help and attention if an addict fail to change obviously they’ll never quit gambling activity.

Then the aspect of chasing after your losses is also another means of becoming an addicted gambler. To gamble responsibly you must understand that there is a balance and that you need to focus and if it's broken you will find it hard correcting that.

When you can not stay without gambling this a typical example of addiction because you are deep in it that the day you don't gamble you will feel lost in your whole body and you can't concentrate unless you look for a way to satisfy yourself by gambling. There are other signs of addiction like gambling even when you are on a losing streak and lack of self control but the most common one is the gambler not being ok until he gambles.

A person's behavior and speech can tell whether he is addicted to gambling or not. In short, a person addicted to gambling behaves differently from a normal person. In particular, a person addicted to gambling will not want to come near people, he will always think about something, and will always feel restless and hot-tempered, he will run from door to door to collect money. All these signs are found in an addicted person and only by seeing all these signs will it be understood that he is addicted to gambling or a drug addict.

A person can easily become addicted to gambling. Gambling addiction is not complicated. If one allows oneself to participate in gambling beyond control and if gambling is done irresponsibly, a person will easily become addicted to gambling, especially spending excessive money on gambling and repeatedly participating in gambling, which plays a very important role in becoming addicted to gambling.

When a person becomes addicted to gambling, it is not easy for that person to get out of the gambling addiction. Then of course the help of very close and intimate relatives or friends is needed, besides, one must make one's own efforts to get out of the gambling addiction. Without one's own efforts, it is never possible to get out of the addiction.

You would know if you're slowly getting addicted if you find yourself spending a ridiculous amount of your time and money gambling and if that time and money spent continues to increase.
As to how easy it is to get addicted to gambling or anything else? It's quite easy to get addicted to an activity. Regular and increasingly constant indulgence in that activity would slowly bring about a form of dependency on that activity. When that begins to happen, addiction isn't far away.

I think a gambler who's addicted needs all the help and support he can get. A person going through addiction would need help and understanding from everyone around. While love and understanding from family and friends would help a lot, the addicted fellow would need to develop a strong resolve to want to beat addiction.
While love and understanding would help along the way, the addicted fellow would have to be steadfast in his resolve to sucessfully do away with addiction.

It's not very hard to become addicted to gambling and as others have said that getting out isn't easy. Once a person experienced gambling for the first time and doesn't have self-control then there's a chance that person will become addicted such as gambling right away when he/she has money. If that person doesn't have money will find a way to have money like borrowing money just to use it in gambling. There are other behavior that you will notice when someone wants to gamble like selling own gadgets for example.

It’s very easy for someone to get addicted to the gambling. A moment a person is into the gambling, and he does bet every day; there’s no way that this kind of person will escape from getting addicted to the gambling. Because one thing about gambling is if a person is into gambling and always wins a lot of his bets, instead of him to have a full stop for himself since he has won a lot of money, but he will not.

This winning will be encouraging him to bets  more to the extent that he will multiply the amounts of money that he used to bet before so that it will get bigger profits, but after a while he will end up losing all the money, and then from there he will begin to chase the gambling for him to recover what he has lost back, and from there he will be addicted to the gambling.

And before anyone will go see a therapist, the first step usually starts with the gambler, which is admitting that they are addicted to gambling. This will give the therapist the chance to act, and even if the therapist gives them the guide to follow, without them also being determined, it's never going to work. It's as simple as that. I even consider a close relative staying with the gambler to monitor the gambler rather than the therapist, who will stay far away, and they see only by arrangement.

It is impossible to deny the fact that the gambling involves the procedures that are programmed to fool emotions and rationale. I can agree partly to the idea that making a winner is not going to release one as a person is more motivated by the immediate satisfaction. Taking a closer look, individuals that enter into this trap lose not only their money but also relations and everyday lives. Nevertheless, I do not agree with the point that one cannot escape because that would mean that there is no place to change in any way. Some individuals have been effectively able to run away, relying on the mythical support of family members, knowledge of their own personality, and surroundings. We must point out that one of such things to give up is gambling and this may be coupled with the wish to change self as well.

When I begin to feel restless whenever I an unable to gamble probably because I don't have money to gamble or other things are taking my time. It is never a good sign if I suddenly can't do without gambling in a day.

          • How easy it is to be addicted to gambling?
Very easy. The tricky part is that you don't even get to realise that you are addicted already until things begin to get affected.

          • Can an addicted gambler work himself out of that addiction without help from anyone, if yes, is it still addiction?
Yes, if he realises on time. There was a time when I was still in the university, I realised I was getting addicted to chatting on social media with random people. It affected my studies greatly, but it was never too late. I restricted myself from my device for a while until I was convinced I can handle everything now. Gamblers who realise themselves earlier will be able to call themselves to order without much stress like a chronic addict.

I don't think it's easy to be addicted to gambling. It really depends on your personal characteristics and traits. For some people it's easy to control their impulses and desires, while for others it's hard. From what I see, if it was easy to get addicted to gambling, we would have much superior rates of addiction in our societies, while in fact what we see is a minor percentage of addicted gamblers. The rest will give up as soon as they understand gambling isn't a profitable practice, without insisting until going bankrupt and losing all their funds.

I am not am expert on gambling addiction whatsoever, but in my opinion and from the experience I have gotten in this ecosystem, it would seem to me it is fairly easy for anyone to become addicted to gambling of they gamble recklessly enough and dedicate enough time to gamble, beyond a regular session and beyond what it could be considered to be a normal session on casinos.

I think in such way because, in the end of the day, all human beings have the same dopamine receptors in the brain and messing which such equilibrium is not that hard if one has the resources to start to gamble.

It is easy to get into addictions and difficult to get off them, that is related with the very definition of what an addiction is.

          In my opinion,
I think gaming addiction is complicated precisely because people don't always realize it. One sign is when gaming begins to impact other areas of life, such as finances, relationships, or routine. The ease of becoming addicted varies from person to person, but the risk is undeniable. Regarding overcoming addiction on your own, I believe it can happen, but in many cases, external support makes all the difference.

          They can.

What they'll do is to survive the effect of it to themselves and have the will power to get out of it eventually. Realizing the bad impact of it to their lives will help them quit it anyway.

They're not addicted anymore if they overcome addiction and it will also make them warn other people to avoid getting addicted.

Can an addicted gambler work himself out of that addiction without help from anyone, if yes, is it still addiction?
          They can.

What they'll do is to survive the effect of it to themselves and have the will power to get out of it eventually. Realizing the bad impact of it to their lives will help them quit it anyway.

They're not addicted anymore if they overcome addiction and it will also make them warn other people to avoid getting addicted.

yeah!! it is possible but it is not always easy. because some gamblers manage to fight addiction on their own through strong will power, selfdiscipline and realizing how badly it is affecting their lives. but for most people!! addiction is very hard to just overcome alone because the urge keeps coming back like once in a while. that is why many of them need external support from family, therapy or joining recovery or support programs. if someone manages to quit completely and no longer feels controlled by gambling then they are no longer addicted. in fact many of them who overcome it end up becoming the loudest voices that warn others because they know how destructive it can be.

Which is true. The way people are talking about addiction and its effects on a daily basis is very scary to me. I do use to wonder if it is so bad as people mention because God so kind I've never been a victim of addiction in the past. However, with all of these, nobody or to have fair let me say only a few people have actually come out to share there stories in regards to their experiences as gamblers and whether they are still addicts or not and if not, how did they solve their problem genuinely.

Some people found their way out of gambling easier than how others actually did, maybe through early decisions towards stopping it before it got really worse and out of control, while some could be through family counseling and other ways myself and you don't know. Let's talk more about thr solutions instead of always hammering on the problems.

          • How do you know you are addicted to gambling
I realized I was addicted when I'd spent a lot of money in one night gambling. Worse, it wasn't my money, but my friend's. I dared to use it because I had enough salary to cover it. It was then that I realized I was addicted to gambling.
          • How easy it is to be addicted to gambling?
I actually find this question quite ridiculous, because I think everyone who gambles knows how to become addicted, even outside of gambling, the answer seems to be the same.
          • Can an addicted gambler work himself out of that addiction without help from anyone, if yes, is it still addiction?
I'll answer yes, because I've experienced it myself. I was able to break free from my addiction on my own, without any help from anyone, and I believe I was able to do this because of my strong will and determination.

I’ve written this many times before: the best bet anyone can make is to pay for a consultation with a medical professional, then to determine if they are, in fact, a psychopath or gambler. You might even discover that you have psychopathic traits without realizing it, or what some call "subclinical psychopathy." Did you know there’s scientific research that suggests people can be "passive" psychopaths, according to the Psychopathy Checklist-Revised (PCL-R)?

If you want to know whether or not you're addicted without spending a dollar on a doctor, a very easy way is to simply stop gambling. If you can easily go for years without it, you're probably not addicted.

Gambling isn't inherently bad; it can be a part of everyday life. But it's a lot like gluten. Years can go by, and you might never realize it could be harmful until you finally discover a problem, at which point you have to quit.

Dude, I understand you... we've been playing for so long that we don ot know if we are on control or if we've already "fallen into the matrix" :P
But I think the clearest sign to know if we are addicted is to try to answer: Are we playing justfor fun, or is it already affecting our finances, work, relationships or even our mental health? Only you know the answer... but answer truly.

About the ease of developing addiction... its too easy, just like any other addictive thing, the dopamine rush with each win is a strong trigger that can drive you crazy and lead you to perdition... it takes a lot of self control to stay on the right path.

Lastly... going it alone: Yes! I believe it is possible, especially if you recognize the addiction early and make firm decisions to stay away of the game.
But when you've been "consumed" by the addiction for a long time, I think it is impossible to do it alone without an professional support or at least from family or friends.

Playing gambling needs limitations so you can stop yourself from playing more. It is the key to avoiding the will to keep playing because that can make you become addicted to gambling. Many people experience this but they don't realize that they are already addicted to gambling. If you really want to stop, you need to build a new activity and keep yourself busy. You also need to distract your mind from thinking about gambling. That will work if you want to avoid the gambling addiction.

            1. You will only feel that you're addicted to gambling already if you feel that it's hurting your relationship with other people, your work as a whole, and even your money itself. If you are feeling that you're chasing your losses already and thinking about gambling for most of the time, that's a sign that you're addicted to gambling already. If you're hiding it to your relatives, that could also be a sign as well.
            2. It's very easy TBH. If you feel the thrill of winning, that could be one of the big reasons for you to get addicted into it because the more you win, the more you will feel that you need to gamble again hoping to make more money. That adrenaline rush that you're feeling if you win will be the reason why you'll get addicted, and before you know it, you will not feel that you're addicted into it already.
            3. I'm not saying that it's impossible, but it will be very hard, and it might come to a point where he might just give up in life. Having a help outside like your family, or some experts out there will be a big thing if you want to recover from getting addicted from gambling. There's also a time where you might got recovered from gambling addiction, but you can easily get tempted to go back again whenever you see somebody winning huge amounts of money, and if that's the case then you're not fully recovered yet.

Well, I hope that you're okay still OP and if you're addicted into gambling, seek some help outside. Don't hide it and tell it to your family members so they can help you.

In most cases it is very difficult for one on his own astain from it so easily, it's mostly through a help of a friend or family members, but I think the greatest and the most easiest way an addicted gambler can get retemption is when he has learned the hard way perhaps gambling has stripped him off his life fortunes, keeping him frustrated and left with nothing then I believe at that time his eyes will now be clear that he will need no one to advice him but rather advise his own self. So very easy. When you have money that you can use for spins, slots or dice or any other gambling games. And by the time you are gambling, it only means that you're prone already to gambling addiction. When you keep on finding it from time to time and your dopamine is rushing and getting you with that. That's how you can say that you're already addicted to gambling. At first, you'll be in denial but the signs are going to be crystal clear and you can determine that.

You know, I've learned so much about gambling addictions from reading interviews and various video interviews that I feel like I could help addicted kids, because I'm sure that often in clinics where they demand a lot of money to help addicted gamblers, doctors don't know much about casinos, because they have to be very well-rounded individuals who are interested not only in psychology, but also have a good understanding of how the psychological levers of casinos usually work for people.

The best way is for you to accept the fact that you are addicted and have the determination of getting out of that state of addiction. You should quit gambling and forget about your losses.

And after that I realized that it was a sign of addiction and also irresponsible gambler then I tackled it.

Doing it more often is even on a good side but when the person start doing it more "uncontrollably often" then they addicted or becoming addicted. Doing something often and still staying in control of that thing, still makes you a boss over that thing but once you can not control yourself again on that thing, you are a slave to it. That's where the addiction lies.

I think it takes time for gambling addiction to develop because of the vicious cycle. Until the player starts the vicious cycle they will not start to get addicted but once they deposit to win back a loss, it starts ans it becomes difficult to hold back.

I also believe it is possible to get rid of the addiction if disciplined enough. But this takes self resolve and help from family and friends.

We should have a optimistic approach towards gambling addicts. Help them out with support but dont give them money.

While the desire to recoup previous losses can lead players to continue gambling even after experiencing losses, this doesn't stop them. Those who understand gambling are less likely to engage in such behavior, especially if they can accept defeat. Conversely, those who can't accept defeat are more likely to reinvest their money into gambling because they can't accept their previous losses. This behavior can recur, leading to addiction.

Getting addicted to gambling is very easy but it all depend on gamblers, because there are some gamblers that already learn about addiction and also know the precautions to take so as to avoid getting addicted to gamble. In this sense they will know the steps to take that would prevent them from falling into the trap, and when you're going with this approach it will be very difficult for you to get addicted to gambling. But for those that didn't learn about addiction and also the right steps to take easily fall into addiction as they will be forcing wining to come, and you know when a gambler is struggling in all means to win from gamble he won't think of taking a break for sometime instead he would want to Stick to it until he achieve his target.

Conversely, those who can't accept defeat are more likely to reinvest their money into gambling because they can't accept their previous losses. This behavior can recur, leading to addiction.
When a gambler keeps losing, he easily loses control over himself, so that his addiction to gambling continues to grow. I have seen many gamblers who keep losing but they cannot quit gambling. Whenever he gets money, he starts gambling again, which further fuels his addiction. When a gambler can control himself, he can protect himself from becoming addicted to gambling. But I've also seen the other side. Many gamblers I know have had big wins when they first started gambling, and these wins have given them overconfidence, which has led them to gamble even bigger amounts. And by doing this, they become more attracted to gambling, and this attraction eventually turns into an addiction for them and they start losing in gambling again. Therefore, a gambler must systematically control himself.

How to know when you're addicted to gambling is this:
When gambling you wouldn't know when is the right moment to stop, even with an exhausted account you can still feel the urge to gamble more  secondly, if you're chasing losses all the time it's addictive sign.

It's easy to be addicted when you ignore all the warnings concerning gambling addiction. And by chance you get addicted to gambling, sharing your feelings and struggle with the addiction problems to your families and friends can make them know how to come infor your rescue.  In all of this, prevention is better than any cure you may get upon being addicted.

Everyone will not easily become addicted if they do not have money - but if they are supported by money, then addiction becomes easier. The more they deposit - the more likely they are to stay in this cycle longer regardless of whether they actually enjoy the game or just want to recover losses. However, there are several things that can prevent them from getting into serious problems as a result of addiction - one of which is gambling responsibly.

The logic is that gamblers without money won't become addicted because they don't have the opportunity to increase their gambling intensity. Those with money are susceptible to addiction, regardless of whether it's from a daily, weekly, or monthly salary.

And those gamblers without money are the ones that are looking for ways to gamble still. They might sell some stuff for them to have something to gamble with.

Those with money are susceptible to addiction, regardless of whether it's from a daily, weekly, or monthly salary.
They're more prone but even those without money. They will find a way to make some money and both are susceptible still with addiction. As they say about having a will and a way.

                I agree, not easy.

If others think that winning against their gambling addiction is easy, many wouldn't fall back for it anymore.

Self discipline is needed and once a gambler is out of it, they'll fall for their own wrong thoughts about gambling. Because the usual reason why they will fall for addiction is because the quick money they can win and take back.

You're correct is very hard for a gambler to know if he's addicted or not until he noticed that his financial status is getting worst than the way it was before, that's when some gamblers will know that they're addicted to gambling. But in most cases they will be pointing at other things not knowing that gambling is the reason behind that, I have been gambling for some years now and I could remembered a day that I was forced to stake more than what I can afford and I was unlucky then I start feeling kinda Way. And after that I realized that it was a sign of addiction and also irresponsible gambler then I tackled it.

Regarding this opinion, I also experienced it as a gambler who only realized that I was addicted to gambling when I placed bets or wagers in conditions far beyond my capabilities, even harming myself & those around me. Because basically, a person will become aware of their behavior when someone has experienced something beyond their own capabilities & I admit that it happened to me. I realized that I was addicted to gambling when I experienced something beyond my capabilities in placing bets, but after I realized it, I slowly began to try to be more in control & responsible in the gambling that I do.

I think this should be a case by case study, because there are people who till date don’t know or still think that they are just a regular gamblers meanwhile in reality they are chronic gamblers and can’t even go a day without gambling and if they don’t have money to fund their account they’ll go to the extent of selling off their assets to get gambling money. There are people like that and also there are people who instantly feels weird by the way they are beginning to handle their gambling activities.

The first set of gamblers, find it very difficult to get out of gambling themselves because they don’t even know that they are addicted to it, and if you tell them they’ll start doubting you until something else happens that will convince them to see that they are truly addicted to it. While the second set can easily get out of the addiction because they know their problem and with a little determination they’ll get rid of the addiction.

the problem we have was the heart of what we perceive of ourselves. The former group reside in the delusion of thinking that they are still in control yet their lives have already become dominated by their addiction. Even they will sell off assets to keep the habit going and by the time, it is much more than money loss. This can be compared to the second group who might also be addicted but have the strength to admit that they have a problem. We may observe that bravery of confronting with reality actually facilitates the escape. It is not about pro strength, but pro who has the heart to open eyes and say he see there is a problem that must be solved.

Those who are addicted to gambling may not realize that they are addicted to gambling. Still, if a gambler has some common signs, he can consider himself an addicted gambler. For example, if he wants to gamble most of the day, secondly, when he only focuses on gambling without considering whether the result will be in his favor or against, thirdly, when the gambler does not have money to gamble and when he gets overly excited due to lack of money or tries his best to manage money. Seeing these signs, a gambler can consider himself an addicted gambler. Now the question is whether the gambler can get out of this addiction on his own, yes he can, but first he has to understand that he is addicted to gambling and he should get out of it. The third thing is whether it is easy to get addicted to gambling, in fact, those who have less self-control, are more emotional, have no sense of responsibility and are young are more likely to get addicted to gambling.

                • How do you know you are addicted to gambling

Most addicts never realize they're addicted. They'll deny that their gambling activity has escalated to the point where they gamble without regard for time and spend vast amounts of money. An addict will realize they're in deep sh*t when they have no more money to gamble and start selling or pawning their belongings. At that time they may have realized that they are addicted but they still try to gamble.

                Quote
                • How easy it is to be addicted to gambling?

It depends on each individual, because there are those who are able to gamble but are not addicted because they have good self-control and understand their limits. But it will be very easy for some people to fall into gambling addiction since they don't understand the limits and they tend to gamble irresponsibly.

                Quote
                • Can an addicted gambler work himself out of that addiction without help from anyone, if yes, is it still addiction?

Yes, some people are able to overcome their addiction without help from others. However, many others need support, whether from family, friends, or professionals, because overcoming gambling is quite difficult and not everyone is able to face it alone.

the problem is they know they are addicted, just that there is nothing they can do about it because some can not longer help them self and gambling every day does not even mean the person is addicted but were the problem is not able to control your self when ever it comes to gambling there people that can not say no to gambling. Another thing is that they have lost total control of there emotions and people are just looking for means to have an extra hustle if not for that i don't think people will gamble. Still, there is a chance that they might win something maybe when luck shines on there side, and they can get help but deliberately they just avoid getting help.

So they should accept their condition to know if they will need help or not, because plenty of them don't even know exactly the position they are in, so the best they can do is to go for is therapy because that will go a long way in helping them.

Yes an addicted gambler can work themselves out of gambling  at any time they decide to work them selves out of it. You only need to want to work on yourself whenever you see that you are no longer happy with how addicted you have been gambling.  The reason why some of them do find it difficult  to exit is because  they literally have not accepted that gambling is affecting them already and they do not want to continue in that direct of addiction they have been and so they find it hard and make it look like it is hard to quit addiction.

When once you notice you are beginning to go put of your way to gamble and it does comes with a very stimulating urge that you only find peace after you must have gambled such that this occurrence is experienced everyday then you are addicted and should work on it to exit the addiction.  Some other person may not gwt to this point because  this point is when ot is becoming chronic, if you actually find yourself frequenting the casino too often, it's a sign of an early stage addiction.

And do you know that when you start doing something more often, the chances of you getting addicted to the thing are very high, and the more you get too comfortable, too attached to a particular thing, it will get to a point where if you no longer get engaged in that thing, it will be as if some part of you is missing, which is a bit of gradually losing control over it, as you can no longer stay without having the thought of doing that thing almost every single day?

Actually, it can, but it's hard because no one else is helping to provide support to stop without doing it again.
Trying on your own and doing it slowly certainly takes time so that you really don't gamble anymore.

But the problem is not his gambling, but an addiction that makes him lose more out of greed to keep winning,
win again and keep trying until it finally interferes with their finances and psychology.

There are many people who gamble but do not admit that they are addicts, they just play and enjoy the games and bets on gambling.

A person's mindset and way of treating anything should be straightened out, on any platform, gambling,
soccer betting games or something like that if they are too greedy then it will not be good and will lead to addiction.

So it's very different per person as I have said. But it's not going to be too late for those who are now addicted to turn their life around and snap out of gambling. We still have a lot of time to get out of it and not get REKT.

If they can’t get out, the best thing they can do is lessen their bankroll and limit their playing time. Even if they keep the habit, at least they won’t end up with financial issues later on. The reason they get wrecked is because they’re betting amounts beyond their means, too much money mixed with too much emotion. Even now, many still believe gambling can change their financial status, which is completely wrong. That dream is what fuels them to keep coming back and risking more than they can afford to lose.

Knowing when you are addicted to gambling is when you can't control yourself until you don't any money with you again, which you have used all for gambling because you are either losing more than your win and you want to recover all your losses or maybe you are winning and yet not satisfied, maybe you want to win a very huge amount of money, this act is as a result of addiction and in this case it will be hard for one to know when to quit or stop and how you can work on yourself when you notice that you are a gambling addict, is by telling your loved ones or a therapist concerning your habit because if it's by your strength alone, you can't possibly stop by yourself which is why it's always advisable for one to gamble responsibly and gamble with what you can afford to lose.

It's really rare that gamblers would be looking for symptoms from themselves and notice their addiction because of those issues.

Usually people notice it because of consequences of their addiction, like lack of money, time and sleep.  And even those aren't immediately linked to a problem, because people who are addicted, often like very much what they are addicted into, so for them, addiction isn't the problem.

They are in denial, so it's not gambling, but reasons why they are losing money in gambling. Like "wrong gambling tactic". And i am pretty sure that in majority of the cases, it's their friends and family who will bring the issue to the table, as addicts are often blind to their addiction. Quitting something that makes them feel good seems counterproductive to them.

                ….
Sometimes it also boils down if a person can easily be influence by others. Because I have seen both sides, I mean there are friends of mine that gambler since we are young but there are also who stay away from it despite being surrounded by gamblers.

And for anyone who can't get out from gambling, it will be hard for the person to even decide how they limit themselves in terms of the time they spend and the amount they also spend; not being able to get out either because of social or peer pressure, it will be difficult for them unless the gambler is able to cut whatever is pressurizing him in gambling; only then can they be able to control their activity in it.

That's real, yea, gradually they become overwhelmed by doing one thing that they feel so attached to over and over again, lose control and then addicted already. Early stage on gambling is dangerous especially if the person doing that taste a huge win since they provably find those situations on which they could hit another huge gains.

That's why usually they are easily get affected in this situation then worse totally fall from addiction especially if they didn't manage to handle well to limit their selves on those activities also their spending's done in the casino.

I experience this situation before that's why I think early stage of gambling participation is crucial.

                • Can an addicted gambler work himself out of that addiction without help from anyone, if yes, is it still addiction?
                - In most cases, a gambling addict doesn't know that he already is addicted as he think he's still capable of controlling his financials.
                - It is easy, like you didn't noticed. You only do, when it's too late.
                - Definitely! Nobody can help us out of the misery but ourselves. No matter how many people shared an advice with you, they won't matter when you're not ready to make changes for yourself. So, yeah, it's only ourselves who can make things right, including gambling addiction.

Yes, it’s possible, but I won’t pretend like it is an easy thing to do. Gambling addiction has a way of digging deep into your habits and emotions, so fighting it alone means you are going up against your own mind every single day.
The urges don’t just disappear overnight, and that constant pull to try one more time is what makes it such a tough battle. To break out without help, you would need serious discipline, self awareness, and a willingness to cut off anything that might trigger the habit. That is why most people find it almost impossible on their own..

It is always a trap for those who don't understand how gambling works. And much more for those who are controlled by their emotions and greed. But for those who have been gambling responsibly and learned their mistakes, it is easier for them not to fall for the trick. A reason why newbies should not get too attached to gambling is that, as much as possible, they learn how to limit their time gambling. Because once you get into addiction, it's harder to escape. Just a piece of advice but I believe it works.

If you have the ability to control yourself then you are at the first level of addiction. Usually addicted to intensely addictive cannot be controlled yourself but you have controlled yourself, that is, you have not been intensely addicted so far. Addicted gamblers can often come out of the gambling addiction at the will of their own will without the help of others. Many times, without the help of members of the family, no gambling can ever come out of addiction. But if you are not intensely addicted, you can get out of gambling yourself.

For those who are overconfident or who only think about profit, winning can be a weapon for them to become more confident in pursuing victory in gambling. Many people become addicted to gambling because they want to win, and this is why they tend to be unable to control themselves properly, leading their own thoughts to enter a cycle of addiction that is difficult to recover from. It's important to note that self-control is easy to say but difficult to implement, and each person's goals in gambling can change once they are involved.

                • How do you know you are addicted to gambling
It should be easy because we can see that we're engaging in this activity excessively and it's not like usual, and I think this is a sign that we're starting to become addicted.

                • How easy it is to be addicted to gambling?
                • Can an addicted gambler work himself out of that addiction without help from anyone, if yes, is it still addiction?
It's as easy as it seems or we never even predict it will happen and generally they don't realize they've fallen into the trap of an addictive addiction. Of course, it's possible to break free from addiction, but the intention must be sincere and sincere from the bottom of each addict's heart. Although it may seem difficult, I'm sure it can be done, or you can seek help from others who frequently train gamblers to stop. If the person in question doesn't have a strong intention to stop, don't expect it to be possible for anyone else.

Some of the gamblers its too late to them to realize that they ended up lossing everything and they get too much addicted in playing gambling, well at the first place this could be because of their thinking they have a lot of money, they have assets, there is a salary will come to their balances so they get confident and after that ended up lossing their money because of too much addiction. Now if you want to join with the gambling better make sure you understand whats your limit only, until where you could bring the risk and the game because not all wins are consecutives sometimes its just a reason for you getting caught and trap with the infinite loop of gambling.

I am not yet an experienced gambler like you but I think that by establishing self control you can keep yourself away from gambling addiction. I have been gambling for the past few years and in the early stages I was almost addicted but I was able to overcome it very easily because I did not have much money to gamble with. When you feel that you are unable to stop gambling on your own after starting, you should assume that you are addicted to gambling. If an addicted gambler has sufficient funds, in most cases they will not be able to stop or reduce their gambling with the advice of someone else. To get rid of the addiction, you should try to establish self-control by reducing the amount of money allocated for gambling. Following the bank roll method can be effective in controlling yourself.

It’s actually very easy to get addicted to gambling, because it plays with both the mind and emotions. At first, it looks like fun or just small risk taking, but the joy of winning and the hope of recovering losses can quickly trap someone. Unlike other addictions that rely on a substance, gambling addiction is more about psychology, whenever there’s a win, even if it’s small. Over time, the person starts chasing that feeling, and it becomes hard to stop..

What makes it more dangerous is that the line between playing for fun and getting hooked is very thin. Some people don’t even notice they’re addicted until it starts affecting their finances, relationships, or mental health.

Yes an addicted gambler can work themselves out of gambling  at any time they decide to work them selves out of it. You only need to want to work on yourself whenever you see that you are no longer happy with how addicted you have been gambling.  The reason why some of them do find it difficult  to exit is because  they literally have not accepted that gambling is affecting them already and they do not want to continue in that direct of addiction they have been and so they find it hard and make it look like it is hard to quit addiction. .
It's not that simple to work oneself out of gambling addiction mate, don't make it sound like it's that easy especially when you haven't had an experience in it to know how it's like to be a gambling addict. People that have been into that ugly grip of gambling addiction would explain better, because it's something they would not wish on their worst enemy.

Like we all know, it’s not really that easy to just break out from gambling addiction, especially when it has eaten really deep into the person… addiction is a virus that eats deep into the victim’s mind, his emotions and most time even affect their relationship with people around them.
In my own POV, it takes more than just willpower to break out of it, it also requires support systems, in most cases, professional help to truly help a victim break out from it.

That's true, Moreover even if you can stop the addiction by yourself I'm sure that is going to take long before you can finally pull it out. And I think you're right when you said about wanting to try one more time, of course if you're still starting this battle there's a certain stage where you will be tempted to try one more time and if you're not disciplined enough you would definitely fall for it. and this mostly happen to those guys who are very addicted to gambling,  just like a friend of mine that got addicted to smoking but at some point he realized that smoking is not helping his system so he decided to quit but after some time he got tempted and he was not discipline enough to deal with it, so right now as we speak he has returned back to his smoking lifestyle. Had it mean someone is there to help him out I'm sure that he wouldn't have returned back to smoking.

Yes, if you want to get out of addiction, you can come out unless you make good effort. A gambler who is addicted cannot do whatever he says because even if he wants to, it will not work that way. Many addicted gamblers, for whatever reason, cannot quit gambling on their own. I will definitely agree with you that to get rid of addiction, it is not easy to get rid of it without professional help. There are many who have tried many times but have not been able to get rid of addiction.

And that's where the gambler loses control over themselves. Those who are involved in gambling must maintain self-control, so that they can easily deal with any situation without any major problems. Therefore, it will be effective to keep yourself away from things that create an addiction to gambling, so that you can easily take gambling as a means of entertainment. And those who take gambling as a means of making money, are actually the ones who end up gambling and become addicted to gambling.

As usual, it's always very easy to say something but putting it to action becomes the real work. Many people always try to point out method to help other avoid being addicted or help them who are already addicted to come out of it. But these methods of we try to practice them one our own, you will see how difficult it actually is. Addiction in general is one thing that if someone is not careful enough, he might not be able to get out of it without the help of external bodies. Many people ends up in rehabilitation centers due to addiction. And it takes luck to be abel to recover from it before ones life is completely screwed.

A gambler can become addicted through different means, it could be greed, could be too much devotion to betting or time spent on a casino etc and once any gambler start doing it irresponsibly they'll gradually get addicted before they could even realise, gambling addiction is very bad and messes with someone's mental health when it's become chronic and sometimes may be difficult to detect by the gambler. Self control and gambling responsibly is the best way to avoid being addicted but if a gambler is already addicted then the person would need medical attention or therapy.

Addiction is not a good thing and I don't think a right thinking gambler could ever wanted to be addicted in the first place, but this is something that build up at the stages of time and the more we are gambling, that is why upon every gambling experience we have, we should be more considerable that there should be limit to what we do and why we should be a responsible gambler.

What you said makes sense. Addiction doesn't happen overnight, but builds through habits and excess. Being aware of your limits and knowing when to stop is truly what differentiates healthy gambling from a bigger problem.

But do you know the best way to identify when someone is already over the limit before the addiction takes hold? If so, how?

Too much time spent on gambling. That's one way. But it could only be seen if a gambler has the ability to keep on playing ,which means he has loads of money in his pocket and can play more.
Another is that he cannot stop thinking about it, which means he is restless. On idle time, he will keep on thinking about gambling like a drug addict looking for his drugs. If there's money available, he won't even think twice. He will gamble without any doubt.

Thank you @WhoYouCantKill for doing much justice to this discussion because it seems not many persons has an understanding of the destruction addiction can cause to its victim making him a slave to it. It takes the conscious support of close friends, family and professional support to gradually reform the mind and emotions of the victim and not by just the personal will of the victim.

Most gamblers have almost slip into the addiction side of gambling and have managed to pull themselves out from it , it's very easy to know when you are getting addicted to gambling and that's when you start gambling frequently more than usual or when you are always thinking about gambling. I don't lie about gambling and once I start lying and denying it then I know it's addiction coming in, I know I'm getting addicted to gambling once I start selling properties or using properties as a collateral to gamble. It is very easy to get addicted to gambling once you start taking it seriously because of greed and it's very possible for anyone to quit gambling addiction on their own and yes it's still addiction by they just found a way to overcome the strength of addiction.

Generally, greed is the easiest way gamblers become addicted to gamble. When gamblers become greedy and continue to chase their losses they there's a higher percentage that they will lose everything and also become addicted to gamble. But as a matter of fact, like you have said earlier that self control can be used to control addiction. Without becoming cautious of yourself and how you gamble addiction will continue to increase.

In fact, it is quite normal for gamblers to develop overconfidence when they start winning. But when that gambler starts losing, aggressive thinking develops within him.
I understand what you're saying it's natural to feel confident when winning, as it's natural to think we're lucky, so it's possible for our confidence to increase. And perhaps what's unnatural is having aggressive thoughts, as you mentioned, when losing. By distancing oneself from things that can trigger addiction, this leads to greater awareness among individuals when gambling. If they fully understand that gambling isn't a way to make money, they won't engage in activities that can lead to addiction.

Any one who must be a successful in gambling must learn to handle loses, and it's worthy of note that being a successful gambler doesn't necessarily mean that you must have made so much money from gambling, being a successful gambler to me is like gambling but never getting addicted to it, knowing what responsive gambling is and also practicing it to the core.

A gambler who doesn't know how to handle and deal with loses is better off not being a gambler  or not being in gambling because he or she will surely one day become a problem gambler, this is something every one of us must never become a victim too.

You don't need anyone to get rid of gambling addiction, funny enough people that seek some sort of therapy to help them stop gambling don't even get positive results from it because they have not applied that most important thing which is personal effort...if you are not disciplined and you are not determined to stop gambling others can't help much..it's very easy to get addicted to gambling but very difficult to stop

You are right, gambling addiction is very difficult to stop if one is not determined to do so by putting much effort in following up with every processes and modalities they have put in place to stop their addiction. If one wants to stop their gambling addiction, they must be disciplined and focused by following up with whatever ever therapy given to them by a therapist or and expert they had visited for counsel.  So being disciplined will help alot of one want's to minimise their gambling lifestyle and hey must take it very seriously if they must succeed in their quest to minimise their gambling activities.

I agree with you, and the same can be said about winning. Winning players aren't just those who profit significantly from gambling. I also believe those who continue gambling but manage to avoid addiction are winners, because they demonstrate good self-control and a wise perspective on gambling.
The ease of addiction is real; focusing solely on winning without considering the risks is one of its main causes.

For me, becoming addicted is not having control of what we play and the money, apart from not having much maturity in what we do, an adult person knows that the main motivation of an addict is money and stubbornness, it all depends on the type of person we are, personality influences a lot, can you get out of addiction? Yes, can addiction be avoided? Yes, everything is avoidable, everything is in our controls, the addict is addicted because he allowed everything.

Personally, I think most addicted individuals aren't even aware they are. It might seem small, but it's something to take note of. They feel it's nothing to bother because the vast idea about addiction is someone that's gone careless and living a reckless life. But that's not only the case of addiction. One can still live a normal life but addicted to gambling.

The only way to avoid this is to notice it on time. This would help cub the habit. It's not going to be easy because many people might have already taken gambling to be something they find happiness in. But if you are noticing any signs of addiction, the best idea is to reduce your gambling time..

Greed is the main factor, it's that reason reason why most gamblers are trapped in gambling. They find it very difficult to quit even when they win more than enough and when they lose a lot as well. Persistent gambling always comes with a reason, to some gamblers they do it with that hopes that they might be rich one day. Having this mindset is the main reason they will always incur a lot of losses

Gambling is one of the easiest addictions to get into because the consequences seem miniscule compared to the potential benefits.
Lose and you're out of money, same old story. Lifelong misery is only a little bit worse if you lose part of the day's earnings. Many see it that way.
.meanwhile street drugs will knock you out of everything you have if abused. Out of family, out of your home, no friends, no dignity... Nothing.

If greed is a determining factor, why is it that every time we play we must have a profit plan and until we see that we have won something respectable it is better to withdraw with money than without money? It has happened to me that I have won something and because I wanted more money or to multiply it by double, I lose everything. The feeling is not pleasant and it is because of greed, it is a feeling that can hold us back.

You are right. Gambling addiction can easily come to someone especially to those who can't resist the temptation of gambling. The risk will become big when they start to be addicted to gambling and if they don't realize that, the loss will come and make them lose everything. We can't risk what we have because of gambling. Our income is for our needs and not just for playing gambling.

While drugs can tempt you to consume routinely and that can ruin your life. That will not take too long to see your life in a mess and all you have will disappear. So this is what you need to be concerned and avoid it before it is too late.

Yeah, I think too much time spent on casinos (physical) can also be a factor in gambling addiction. Recently, I learned that one of my friends has not stopped playing poker. It all just started on a weekly basis, a type of fun on the weekends, where I was going with him to a poker room that we had been customers of for a long time.
When the pandemic hit and after it, I thought he stopped because I did. Well, I just learned that he is still doing it and I think he ain't going to stop anymore. I guess the companionship in the place of gambling can also be a factor in getting easily addicted to it.

Becoming a compulsive gambler is easy if you have a predisposition. These factors can include stress, personal setbacks, and general dissatisfaction with life, coupled with the joy you derive from gambling. While gambling helps you adapt to real life, it becomes a kind of drug. And the greater your overall dissatisfaction with life, the more powerful the drug gambling can be. But what are the manifestations of addiction? First and foremost, it's financial maladjustment. Losing money, accumulating debt, being unable to pay bills, conflicts over it, and a decline in quality of life. But one way or another, it all comes down to losing money.

Many gamblers gamble more due to high levels of dissatisfaction with life but for that they need to have sufficient funds. If those gamblers do not have that amount of funds then they will not be able to give the expected amount of time. Gambling is like a drug if you do not have control over it. It is easy to become a compulsive gambler but only if those gamblers have sufficient funds. Maybe in the context of my country I am talking more about the supply of money. Gamblers who have sufficient funds use gambling like a drug. Instead of expressing dissatisfaction with life through the loss of their wealth, they should have been self-controlled because gambling causes more mental distress and gradually leads to physical illness.

Right, the big problem is when the gambler loses self-control over himself and cannot manage the gambling game consistently, thereby increasing the risk of losing money. When a person is addicted to gambling, in addition to losing valuable time and money in his life, his loved ones move away, and the gambler does not find the real meaning of life and at some point becomes frustrated. Therefore, we should always manage gambling in a proper manner, so that it does not turn into an addiction. It is just a game for entertainment purposes.

The main reason for not being able to quit gambling addiction is greed. Even if you start playing out of curiosity, the more you win, the more greed will increase in you. You will keep thinking that the more you play, the more you will win. On the other hand, if you lose, you will become more restless. You will then think that you can recoup your losses by playing with more money, and this will continue.

Gambling addiction doesn't hide, it's usually obvious if you look for it, you will see people who keep gambling even when the losing streak becomes unbreakable they can't just bring themselves to stop, they somehow feel like stopping would be the actual loss since they can't make up for what they have already lost, this mentality keeps in the game to the point where they even start taking loans to fund their gambling habits, people like this end up losing themselves to gambling and can't easily escape their addiction on their own without help

You're very correct with your opinion. To a large extent once gambling begins to cross that fine line then it can be related to the behavior of an addict. It becomes more about chasing a highness more like the addiction in drugs and less of the entertainment itself. The fun in gambling gradually fades bricks by brick and the real tragedy begins to come into place which usually revolves around the quest to make quick money, run into debts, unpaid bills, borrowing, broken relationships and in some cases even psychological trauma such as depression.

It does not mean that if you are gambling you must fall into the trap of addiction as it all boils down to the issue of discipline and and self awareness. The simple rule is that you should gamble with what you can afford to lose and to always know when is the right time to stop.

it is very easy to get addicted to gambling, especially when you start winning a few times in the beginning, that feeling of quick profit can really mess with your mind. You start thinking you can repeat the same luck over and over, and before you know it, you are chasing losses trying to recover what you’ve lost.
What makes it tricky is that gambling plays with emotions, greed, excitement all at once. So without strong discipline or limits, it’s super easy to fall into addiction without even realizing it..

                1. One way to identify whether I'm addicted is to examine myself, how often I gamble, and whether I constantly want to gamble, especially when I have free time and money to spare. If I find it difficult to spend even a moment without gambling, then I'm addicted.

                2. Honestly, I don't know how to measure how quickly someone can become addicted, but perhaps an inability to accept defeat and excessive enthusiasm for winning can be signs.

                3. Yes, I can. For example, I recovered from my addiction on my own, and I believe that addiction can only be cured by ourselves. This is why addicted gamblers are often difficult to counsel.

it is very easy to get addicted to gambling, especially when you start winning a few times in the beginning, that feeling of quick profit can really mess with your mind.

Exactly, as i experienced myself, i first got into gambling when i saw a friend gambling. I felt curious, and that curiosity grew even stronger when i saw him win the game and earn so much money in such a short time. i'm sure anyone who saw that would want to try it, hoping to get the same opportunity. The amazing thing is that when i tried it, i did indeed make a profit, though not as much as he did because the deposit amount was different. This was the beginning of the addiction. Now, gambling is no longer just entertainment, it has become an emotional necessity.

Personally, if someone wants to know if he is addicted to gambling, it is very easy to know. In this case, all that the gambler has to do is track his gambling history and find out whether he has used the amount of funds that he cannot afford to lose. And if it is proven that he has used an excess amount of funds while gambling that he cannot afford to lose, then we have to understand that he is addicted to gambling. In this way, I think one can diagnose whether he is addicted to gambling or not.

And recovering from gambling addiction is a very difficult task but not impossible and in many cases it is possible to do it alone because the main thing is to end it with the addicted gambler, to control your emotions. So I think it is possible to recover from gambling addiction alone.

You should find out what the addiction stage is. Gambling for a long time is not an addiction. If you have money, you can gamble all night on the weekend. It may be for one day a week, but you should call it an addiction. Family members may think you are addicted. But gambling for entertainment after receiving a weekly salary is not an addiction.

I think a gambler is addicted when he tends to spend more on gambling than he earns and it affects his personal life. It is easier to get addicted when you have more money. The poor may be less likely to get addicted because they have less money.

To prevent addiction, you need to learn to control your emotions and have control over yourself. Try to keep your gambling budget to a certain amount to reduce your gambling expenses.

                * I probably have deposit every week, though probably just twice a week I think that seems kind of addiction since it doesn't stop.
                * Tbh it's easy, if by chance you keep on winning at first then those wins turn to loss, you'll have that perception you need to get back those losses, that's the first sign you'll be addicted. If you're also losing, you will have that same kind of perception.
                * I think this question is confusing, but I think if you're into something (gambling addiction or anything else) and you want to get out of that situation, you'll need to be consistent and work pays off over time.

The only way to avoid this is to notice it on time.
And I am sure that the person who is falling into addiction detects it but does not give it importance and continues in that cycle that they do not want to end, that is very bad. Personally, the problem starts in the same person and if they do not correct it in time, they are miserable, because they must use other people and other treatments that are not at all desirable.
