Title: HOW DO YOU HANDLE BEAR MARKET
Post by: Tonimez on September 26, 2025, 04:31:10 PM
"A bear market is when the markets experience a prolonged or continuous downward price trend. During a bear market, the prices of stocks, exchange traded funds (ETFs) and index funds may drop by over 20% from recent highs due to negative investor sentiment towards the market."read more (https://www.vantagemarkets.com/en-za/academy/bear-market/?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22979212314&gbraid=0AAAAA_it4z50KEuKh2VWr7NBgh-WYcRYB&gclid=CjwKCAjw89jGBhB0EiwA2o1On8Hr3fgrr7EQIrMEMhJgGpJE4GUeNACCdSABgHVS4eUB-bCGA7d_HRoCCjwQAvD_BwE)

Bitcoin volatility is real like many other altcoins out there. This implies that it could go up or come down at it's own time based on the influence of News, rumours or sentiments. For decades bitcoin has maintained its originality and decentralised state allowing it to be very independent. Investors have different attitudes to bitcoin depending on the behaviour of bitcoin at that moment. Oftentimes, investors slow buying of bitcoin when they feel the price has gone too high that they're speculating a decline. Based on the starting price, some tend to sell all or part of their bitcoin during those highs, this period is usually seen as the bull market or bull run when the price favours sellers more.

However, the next market order than the bull market causes panic among investors especially those investors who don't know exactly what next to do during this period., this period is referred to as the 'Bear Market '. This market condition is a crucial part of bitcoin as many investors use this opportunity to accumulate more aggressively to boost their bitcoin holdings. This is the basis of this thread to equip our minds on the best way make the best out of this market condition. The crypto market is experiencing a backpull and investors are supposed to be proactive. Every market is red, ETH, SOL, XPL, XRP and the almighty BTC and many other altcoins. Some possible ways to make the best out of this period includes;

1. Concentrate your efforts now on accumulation of bitcoin this period and pay less attention to the chart for the time being.
2. Do not sell your bitcoin holding under panic, if you can't buy more, then don't sell the ones you have.
3. Find alternative income source in addition to your main income source to cushion the effects of the fund you are holding in bitcoin (Useful for Bitcoin traders who didn't plan for long-term holding initially).
4. Reduce your focus from altcoins and channel your energy mostly into bitcoin accumulation.
5. Stay positive always and don't panic during this period (History has had bitcoin behave worst than this and still regained its strength).
6. Ensure your wallet is secured and don't misplace your seed phrase out of frustration, so don't give room for frustration.

This is just a secular bear market know to be caused by financial policy, slowed economic growth, bursting market bubbles and various market sentiments, so investors should not loose focus during this period.

I agree with you op  d because we see market volatility as one major part of investing that we cannot remove And because of that every investor has to stay calm and avoid panicking. Let me just say the very essence of investing in Bitcoin is to first build your psychology of investment  Always invest what you can afford to lose and always have an alternaative source of income because it is  very wrong to just rely on one source.

Lastly you can always handle the bear market by diversifying your portfoliio into different assets because it would be wrong to put all your  eggs in one basket That's just it.................

Bear markets are periods when you should even be more serious with accumulating Bitcoin since you've the opportunity to buy more quantities at cheaper prices. For me I'm already piling up funds from my regular investment amounts and waiting for it to come so I'll be able to lump sum on the nice dips that would occur and increase my portfolio nicely while I keep holding since long-term holding is the goal.

You can diversify into the wrong coin and lose all. You investment in Crypto-currency is your decision but putting your eggs in different basket is not a complete advice, newbies are looking for easy precautions and they can take this the wrong way. Before choosing different basket where you will put your eggs ensure you have done your research properly. For me I choose safety and that's why I choose Bitcoin.

True Bear market is one season in crypto circles were interested individuals in crypto should double up their hustle by making use of the Bear market to accumulate more Bitcoin. People should not relent in their Bitcoin accumulation but should continue to invest because in terms of the price the bear season offers much opportunities.

Volatility is one attribute about crypto that many people don't fully understand. understanding of what Volatility is helps them in their crypto journey as it will shape their view about crypto currency.

You can handle bear market also by seeing it as a short term opportunity to accumulate Bitcoin with strong hands, it doesn't mean aggressively spending on buying Bitcoin but using the opportunity that each dip mean buying cheap and bigger profits when the price trace back upwards.

There is no two ways to go about it, every investor should be ready for the double phase that comes with Bitcoin investment, both dip and bull season of the market are important, if one can't go through both without compromising, all because of selling pressure, then they aren't prepared to be an investor who makes fortune from holding Bitcoin.

Things beginners don't know about bear market is that, it provides them with the opportunity to keep on buying Bitcoin aggressively with the amount which they can afford. Actually those who panic about the bear market are those that only have the intention to invest for a short term. Because I believe we already know that someone who knows all this things and intend to invest for a long term will know that the bear season should be the opportunity to continue buying Bitcoin hoping that in the future, Bitcoin will skyrocket again.

Bear market is supposed to be the time to consolidate on ones bitcoin portfolio and never a time to freak out like some people do. But most of the people that get worked up during market are actually short term investors who just want to see their portfolio in profit almost immediately and every time. The people that play long term usually do not have problem with bear market because they are patient and not pertube by whatever the market does since they are not looking to sell any time soon.

The reality in this is that bitcoin is such a great asset that I will say yes you can actually put your eggs in one basket. My major reason why I usually say investing in other coins aside bitcoin is actually a gamble is the fact that Altcoins have tendency of not actually coming up again while bitcoin is the head of any pump in the bitcoin market.

Buying any other coin during dip is seriously a huge risk because the coin might not actually facing bearish sentiment like bitcoin but actually heading down to die because other community members are actually taking out liquidity from the coin. If you look at some Altcoins in the last cycles bearish market like in 2022/2023 you will noticed that hundreds of this coins are not even back to entry that it was bought nor the ATH.

But investing and accumulating bitcoin is actually the right thing because you know that even if it is one coin that will pump during the bull market it will be bitcoin and without its pump there will be generally no pump at all so in this case put all eggs in one Basket

Majority of the altcoins that entered the bear market or real dips don't return back with the market. Most of them get reduced to zero and there's nothing anyone can do about it. It should be a basic knowledge among investors especially those who have been in the game of investing in cryptocurrencies for some times possibly months to years. Every now and then, altcoins get liquidated to nothing and investors loose their money.

Only bitcoin has proven to survive every of the bear market. The Mt Gox era in 2014 bitcoin theft is still the worst experience any cryptocurrency has seen. This led to bitcoin dipping by over 36% after they closed down all trading and an alleged loss of 744,408 BTC to theft. Being a major bitcoin trading company as at that time, it caused a serious dip and panic.
https://talkimg.com/images/2025/09/28/UQcf0G.jpeg

Having survived that period and subsequently returning back to the top, every wise investor would choose bitcoin over and over again, hence, putting all of your eggs in such basket as bitcoin would not be a financial mistake based on it's records.

This has been the case of newbies who diversified their investment in the wrong coins, instead of Bitcoin. Many investors have actually lost a whole lot of money when they thought they could make it big with altcoins. They didn't know that would be their downfall.

Take for instance, those who invested in altcoins last year or early this year. How many have recovered their investment? Is it not a losing investment they are into, praying that the altcoin season to come so that they can recover their losses

To me I will say accumulating Bitcoin during bear markets can be a good strategy if you believe in its long-term value and you’ve planned your finances accordingly. But it’s not a magic formula as prices can keep falling or stay low for a long time, and you may need the money before the next bull run.
I think a safer way to approach it is to set a fixed, affordable amount you’re willing to invest and keep an emergency buffer so you’re not forced to sell at a loss. Combine that with diversification into other assets you understand, and the bear market becomes less stressful and more of a disciplined plan instead of a gamble.

Yea some people believe buying during the bear market which is also the Dip is the best time to accumulate Bitcoin reason because the price of Bitcoin is always down during that period of time but one can still accumulate Bitcoin using the DCA method regardless of the price. The statement or comment you made that price can keep falling and someone might need to sell before the next bull run, remember if you are holding for the long term you should always use what we call discretionary income ( money left after you have removed all expenses money) to accumulate Bitcoin so that you won't have the need to sell when your investment is not matured.

Bear markets are times when the price of Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrencies are on the downward slope which means a decline in the monetary value of assets. Most investors sees this time as time to bag more coin because they could get the coin much  cheaper than they will at that moment but the truth is this in moments as this one should just be careful in the type of Crypto they invest in because not all coin or alt survives the bear as some also crash as the bear market lasts and would never survive it. However if one is to invest during the bear market, they should look for alt that has already been in existence long before now and has survived several bear markets and still standing tall till this moment. As for me, I do invest in projects that I know have been in existence long before now and I am very sure they would survive the market conditions and bounce back after the bear is over.

A bear market is not that easy to deal with, especially for those who are experiencing it for the first time. One way someone can handle a bear market is by seeing it as an opportunity to invest more in Bitcoin but only with money they can afford to lose.If you are investing money that you can't afford to lose during a bear market, it's possible to panic and sell, because Bitcoin's price will likely be going down. This can cause your investment to lose value, and from there, you might start to worry as the price continues to drop potentially leading you to sell at a loss. However, if you invest only what you can afford to lose, you may not be as concerned about short term price fluctuations, because you believe that, in the long run, Bitcoin will recover and perform well.some people to find it to handle bear market and end up selling their Bitcoin not because of anything all because the money invested is not right money to be invested.

There are many who try to buy more and they think that if there is a good price, they will sell it for 50% and grab some cash. A very close associate of mine was involved in such an initiative. Of course, he made good profits at that time, but I told him that you could have waited a long time. I can see now that if he had held on until now and solved the problem with his emergency fund and moved forward, he could have enjoyed the benefits of achieving a much better ATH.

In any case, you have to create such a stubbornness in yourself that you can be patient during the decline, continue the Bitcoin investment process regularly and increase the investment scope if possible during this time. Your current regular investment and holding skills can be a new chapter in your finances.

The concept of discipline in investment is really important to attain long term financial freedom. Because so many people have missed out on bigger profits because of this issue of emergency funds. The feeling of having the money to solve a particular problem but can't just use requires quite a lot of self control and discipline.

To some extent, I wouldn't really blame him entirely if it was life threatening situation. Investment is not done blindly or with your entire expenses so wisdom should be applied when making investments to achieve maximum output.

The bear market can indeed be a discouraging moment for many investors, but if you look at from another angle, it is actually one of the best times to buy bitcoin because you get to accumulate more bitcoin during the bear market than in the bullish market, the bullish market is only a time where you sit back and watch the sats you bought during the bear market grow. So yeah, a lot of investors really gotta learn to appreciate the bear markets and see the advantages, the problem is that a lot of folks just want and expect the market to always be on a bullish trend, which isn’t possible, there are also times that the market drops and  consolidates, and the moment people learn this, the more they’ll be able to appreciate the bear market.

Why will a bear market be discouraging for anyone when that's the time to plant continuously and pile up as many bitcoin as possible for yourself before the bull run. Bitcoin price use to be cheaper during ths bear season and wise investors use that opportunity to stack more while traders and people who bought during the peak of the bull run due to FOMO sell in regret.

Bear market is to be expected if we are hoping for a Bull market as well unless we don't want bitcoin's price to fluctuate which is an unrealistic expectation, an investor should know that things like this are bound to happen and should be mentally prepared to brave them when they do, consistency is one way to pull through the bear market, not letting it to discourage and derail you from your accumulation, and investor should also be watchful of how fear affects their decision making process because the fear of losing too much has led to so many people selling at a loss because they don't want the price to drop to a much lower level, they forget to realize that the price will go up eventually, that the price depreciation is a part of the run and that it won't last forever, especially for bitcoin investment.

Why is it exactly called the bear market?

Bear Market = Market sentiment is to SELL bitcoin (value in USD drops)
Bull Market = Market Sentiment is to BUY bitcoin (value in USD increases)

A bear market is when the market experience a prolonged or continuous downward price trend. During a bear market, the prices of stocks, exchange traded funds and index funds might drop.

During this time, an investor should consider accumulating more coins depending on his pocket, he should consider diversifying it's portfolio, keep investing regularly and keep things in perspective

An investor should adopt DCA methods and he should avoid selling it's investment emotionally

Those who have been investing with a long-term investment mentality are not really that worried about bull or bear markets. Even then, there are many times when it becomes difficult to remain mentally stable. But experienced investors take advantage of the bear market and invest aggressively. At this time, new investors, especially those who have started investing for 2 to 3 years, are at the highest risk. Because they are not very experienced in the market, if the price goes down, they sell Bitcoin due to FUD. I think that if the price of Bitcoin is low or falling in the bear market, one should aggressively dca so that he can hold more Bitcoin at a lower price. Because after each halving in the last 2012, 2016, 2020 and 2024,  halved the supply of Bitcoin is decrease and after that the price basically starts increasing and reaches a new ATH. Therefore, it is more important to be patient in the bear market. Analyzing past Bitcoin markets, we can see that the more patient the investments , the more successful they have been.

I agree with you bro, it's good to analyze past Bitcoin market before investing, one of the attributes of a successful investor is Patient as you rightly said, some investors doesn't have patience especially when the market is not favourable, so it's important that one should understand the market very well before investing and also DCA is still the best strategy in investing

That’s why it’s even more advisable for an investor to only invest with a discretionary income in bitcoin as this method will not only reduce anxiety but it will also help the investor to be able to deal with the risk and volatility in bitcoin investment. To be able to deal with the bear market in the best possible way without panicking to sell or being too emotional whenever there’s a little downturn in the market price, we should always try to invest with our discretionary income.

Many people are waiting for a bear market so that they can buy Bitcoin aggressively
And history has shown that every bear market is followed by a bull run
So there is no reason to worry about your investment. A Bitcoin cycle turns over time and the market changes
However, a bear market is profitable for those who want to hold for a long time and invest sustainably
It is also important to know the necessary emergency fund and some changes in your will, such as regular investments such as once a week or a month
Only through the DCA strategy can you survive in a bear market

You're right investing from our discretionary income is the best approach because I could imagine the feeling if one had invested the money that he or she will be needing anytime soon with the hope of it multiplying before the due time not knowing that we are about entering into bear season, I'm sure that those that make this mistake May likely sell their holdings after seeing the market going that dip. this should serve as a big note of warning to those who are attempting to invest with the money that is meant for other important stuffs with the hope of getting a quick profit, is never right to do so because the market is unpredictable.

This is just a secular bear market know to be caused by financial policy, slowed economic growth, bursting market bubbles and various market sentiments, so investors should not loose focus during this period.
I just remembered a situation that happened sometimes last month before the current bitcoin pump that created a new all time high. And honestly I can say that it proved my point in so many ways. So during the last retracment of bitcoin that clearly looked like a bear market, a friend of mine got scared and he called saying he's planning on selling some portion of his bitcoins. Honestly that would have been the worst decision he made this year.
Using my experience with the market i had to calm him down and told him one thing. And that's bitcoin is very volatile. I've seen it grew in a matter of hours, so rushing to sell would be a mistake if you wake up the next morning and see price already broke a new high. Luckily for him he didn't sell and not quite long we saw how bitcoin proved me right.

So it's a very simple thing, when the market is bearish, use it as an opportunity to buy even more if there's money at hand. Don't buy the idea of selling. It might be a financial mistake..
