Title: AI & Crime Post by: Bitco55 on September 30, 2025, 09:05:28 PM Ai is moving way faster than most laws, and they can't keep up. Around the mid of 2025, government from US, EU, and even in Nigeria began rolling out rules to control AI's reach. Nigeria can't even boast of a substantial amount of involvement in AI, yet, the little we have is now used for cyber crimes. Ai now writes codes, trade stocks, design ads, etc, beautiful advantages, but with that much power, unregulated Ai could cause havoc to economies and spread chaos.
What do you think can be done to regulate the rate at which people misuse AI? Cause without argument, AI is quite important and needed. Everything with advantages has its disadvantages. So, how can we better curb the disadvantages of AI? Title: Re: AI & Crime Post by: Ambatman on September 30, 2025, 09:13:53 PM So in a nutshell, you want stricter censorship than AI already have.
And they can't do more than they are programmed to do. Quote What do you think can be done to regulate the rate at which people misuse AI? Misuse is inevitable If they are able to close the door, people would use the window. AI doesn't directly increase crime rate, their job is to make jobs more efficient. And preventing some misuse would require censoring or access. Title: Re: AI & Crime Post by: Donk1 on September 30, 2025, 09:26:53 PM Op The answer is simple there should limit the potential of every AI because It is certain that all AIs are programming. Well they can just reprogram them to have limits because the way I see it, ai is turning to a technology that doesn't have limitations even with that most of this advance AI are even evolving. And because of it people are now using it for various crimes. So for me I suggest that they simply create security features so it won't be able to create any fake content.
Furthermore the use of AI is spreading and not everyone who makes use of it really knows its full potential so I suggest they should only be taught how to know when dey are dealing with an AI so dey won't fall for any foreign activities. That's just it So that is the very best I could think of. Title: Re: AI & Crime Post by: Evergreenpost on October 01, 2025, 05:32:20 AM Everything in life has two sides, and the same applies to technology. It can be used in both positive and negative ways. Every AI site or app usually includes instructions stating that it must not be used to promote criminal or harmful activities. Therefore, it is not the fault of the developers if someone decides to misuse AI for fraud. The intention of developers is for AI to reduce stress, improve efficiency, and promote effectiveness.
My suggestion is that there should be campaigns and public orientation on how to use this new invention responsibly. In schools, students should also be educated on the positive ways to use AI. God gives wisdom and resources, yet some people choose to misuse them for evil; that is simply how life is. But we cannot say that because some people use AI for criminal activities, it should be banned entirely. Cause without argument, AI is quite important and needed. Everything with advantages has its disadvantages. So, how can we better curb the disadvantages of AI? Fact is that AI has come to stay and that means that it is going to come with some abuses not just in Nigeria but globally, with that knowledge, there is already a serious conversation regarding it regulation that is ongoing but the reality still remains that there is little we know as to what AI will bring to the world because it has literally changed the way we do things generally in the world both positively and negatively.Everyone that is using the cyber space should try to become conversant with AI generated content and real content because that is the place we currently find ourselves where cyber crime takes full effect when you do not know what is real and what is fake. we are enjoying the good side of AI regarding how it is helping us do things fast and we are not complaining about that, it only calls that we also get ourselves prepared for anything that can come from the possibility of being affected by the bad side of AI. Title: Re: AI & Crime Post by: Bounty_ popular MGT 0.1 on October 02, 2025, 10:27:02 AM Brother, I think the topic you are discussing is very important. In fact, as much as AI is giving us benefits, it has also become a source of inconvenience. AI is working instead of humans in many areas such as factories, accounting, translation services, etc., and less skilled workers are losing their jobs. Not only that, AI is also being used to deceive people by talking like humans. AI has many other bad aspects, so we think that AI technology has done more harm than good.
Title: Re: AI & Crime Post by: Kagaru on October 02, 2025, 05:30:03 PM To be honest, AI is now developing so rapidly that laws and policies often lag far behind. However, it is not enough to blame the government or policymakers alone; users, developers, and organizations all need to be aware.
In my opinion, three things need to be emphasized to prevent AI misuse:
Title: Re: AI & Crime Post by: Mr_Brilliant$ on October 05, 2025, 05:11:11 AM The thing be say, AI don grow pass wetin our law fit handle for Naija, and na the truth be that crime no dey ever finish, whether with or without AI, people go still find ways to use tech do bad things.. The real issue no be to ban or over regulate am, but to create better understanding and structure around am.. Most young guys wey dey enter cyber stuff no even get proper knowledge of the power wey AI hold, dem just see am as fast way to cash out….
So if government fit invest in AI education from secondary school level and push for tech hubs wey go teach people how to build legit solutions instead of scam, e go reduce the misuse.. We also need laws wey no go choke innovation but still punish abuse, something like national AI labs or certification for AI developers.. But make we no deceive ourselves, crime no fit ever stop completely, na human nature be that…. The only thing we fit do na to channel that same energy wey people dey use do wrong into building better systems wey go benefit everybody… |
