Title: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: Hypnosis00 on October 09, 2025, 12:03:35 PM I just want to say, I’m really thankful that Bitcoin was invented. Without it, we’d still be fully under government control, every transaction tracked, every move monitored, and every rule forced on us even when it’s unfair.
Bitcoin gave us something that banks and politicians can’t easily touch, and that is financial freedom. You can send money across borders without asking permission, protect your savings from inflation, and support causes even when governments try to silence them. Look at what’s happening in countries with abusive governments... people in places like Venezuela, Nigeria, and Argentina use Bitcoin to survive hyperinflation and avoid frozen bank accounts. Even activists and journalists in countries with censorship rely on Bitcoin to receive support safely. For me, Bitcoin is more than just investment or profit. It’s proof that no matter how powerful governments become, people will always find a way to take back control. Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: Alone055 on October 09, 2025, 12:43:37 PM Well, most people don't look at it that way. Nowadays, people barely care about privacy or anonymity when it comes to their transactions or financial activities, maybe some people do, but most people don't, and it is also because they believe they can't get out of the chain they've been in not for decades but for centurie,s because their ancestors have been in the same system as them.
Those who understand what Bitcoin actually can do and how useful it actually is will find that the profits generated through Bitcoin will become of secondary importance to them, and they will start liking its functionalities and properties. Most people these days, unfortunatly, don't even know why Bitcoin was created in the first place, all they know about it is that it's an asset that people can use to make investments and make money. People like you who understand the actual use case of Bitcoin are rarely found anymore, and that's very unfortunate, if you ask me. :) Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: henry_of_skalitz on October 09, 2025, 12:47:44 PM Bigger countries play it smart and just implement BTC into their existing services. So it's still up to you whether you want your custody or not, with BTC or any other crypto, imo.
BTC is true freedom, yet because of it, all the parties may use it to twist said meaning and true purpose. Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: Cryptohygenic on October 09, 2025, 01:10:01 PM For me, Bitcoin is more than just investment or profit. Bitcoin was not only made for the valuability of preferring profits of holding values but also other use case such as it unification network consensus that transactions can be made across borders while users privacies remains intact and still keep self custody of users funds without the impact of a third party nor authorities to give directive of when and how to use your funds under regulatory system. So there are lot of factors that drives individuals interests globally on the adaptation of bitcoin. Let's us recognize it digital factor that it keeps values safe against natural disasters which is also one of it characteristic that bitcoin is breaking the terror of uncertainty and the tension of loosing economic values and the deprivation of individual monetary rights. Yes, apart from the fact that there are people who don't care about privacy and, for example, buy bitcoin and store it on CEX, there are also very restrictive laws such as those in the EU. So we haven't gotten off that lightly. If you live in the EU, you can't spend bitcoin or exchange it for fiat without KYC within the law. The only thing that escapes this are p2p exchanges, but they represent a very small space. And BTC is emerging as a great and almost unique opportunity for citizens to have some certainty and security for the future It is not yet commonplace in the daily lives of most of the population, but people are asking more about BTC, wanting to know how to protect themselves, etc Sometimes we think we will never really need something like this, but when the situation starts to get worse, it is an immense privilege to have a little BTC saved for the future Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: Bright0515 on October 09, 2025, 02:26:33 PM I just want to say, I’m really thankful that Bitcoin was invented. You are very right that bitcoin is a financial freedom but do not forget that Bitcoin transactions can also be tracked and monitored as well. Nowadays even mixers are beginning to request for some KYC. So I'm trying to tell you that Bitcoin transactions as very much transparent. The most important thing is that it can not be controlled by the government. You can always have full control over your Bitcoin asset when you have your passkey and your seed phrase. But people who normally keeps their crypto asset on exchange don't really know what they are actually doing because their are not in control of the asset in the CEX. Bitcoin transactions can be monitored by the government but if you’ve not used it for anything illegal, then you don’t have an issue with that. Transactions here are public and cannot be denied to not be tracked by the authorities when used illegally. When you’re using bitcoin for illegal stuffs, you can be tracked because spending it mostly goes through centralized platforms which you may have KYC’d on. Bitcoin was actually invented to serve as an alternative to the fiat currency, so it is very clear that bitcoin is already serving its purpose with the drift into its use by many people. Inflation has been a very serious issue that affects many businesses and households, but with Bitcoin, it has now served as an edge against inflation. The decentralization of Bitcoin till date is what has made Bitcoin stand out amongst other cryptocurrencies, without it being decentralized, we wouldn’t have come this far with the adoption of it. It is absolutely true that btc has really opened us up. We can transact completely without any worries. I can do my transactions as I please, no one is in control. We are really happy to have such a medium. Bitcoin allows me to transact completely freely and move forward. At the beginning no one could have imagined that Bitcoin would become like this.Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: Ambatman on October 09, 2025, 04:11:16 PM I just want to say, I’m really thankful that Bitcoin was invented. In Bitcoin every transactions can be fully tracked and monitored hence why it's considered a public ledger The privacy in it is pseudonymous. What Bitcoin gave was the ability to be in control of your funds without relying on the government or other third parties. Quote people will always find a way to take back control. Or find a way to give control back to the government as we can see with users holding on CEX Or relying on third parties to hold their Bitcoins. Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: yhiaali3 on October 09, 2025, 04:40:29 PM Yes, we are very grateful for Bitcoin for many reasons, including that it gives us real control over our money and frees us from the absolute control that governments exercised until recently, before the advent of Bitcoin.
However, I fear that governments could indirectly circumvent the great advantages (we have gained through Bitcoin) through centralized third-party services and by imposing KYC and AML restrictions. Government can monitor how are funds move, if they want to keep record. For me, Bitcoin is more than just investment or profit. It’s proof that no matter how powerful governments become, people will always find a way to take back control. It is hard to keep a decentralized body without the government not trying to control part of it, the access to botherless transaction, at our convenience, faster and cheaper fees is the other part of bitcoin that tells us about its decentralized state and not controlled by government. Without it, we’d still be fully under government control, every transaction tracked, every move monitored, and every rule forced on us even when it’s unfair. Bitcoin was majorly introduced in serving as an alternative to the fiat currency we all have been using over years, but it pains when you see that some are given this same privilege and yet they couldn't realize to why it is needed of them to join the decentralized network and have the necessary freedom with their finances, some are not adopting doesn't mean that every does the same, if we have the opportunity, then the earlier the best we grab it and take advantage as many of us already have done by bitcoin adoption. Bitcoin gave us something that banks and politicians can’t easily touch, and that is financial freedom. Government couldn't have done anything related to this in life for us if not for bitcoin, because they had always wanted to be in control of our financial stand, that is why every protocols in centralized finance is base on their regulations to control and authorize, but bitcoin served as a game changer for them all, we don't have to be in fear of taking over what belongs to us, because its all about a decentralized system this time with bitcoin. It’s proof that no matter how powerful governments become, people will always find a way to take back control. Many bank accounts in my country were frozen because the government suspected that the funds inside came from illegal means. At a point people were forced to sell off all fgw foreign currencies in thier account because the Central Bank wants to promote the us of a declining local currency. The government also restricted bank transactions to a certain amount because it claims to be fighting money laundering. But most of these claims are fake. The government simply want to control the financial life of all citizens. These situations made many people use Bitcoin to bypass these restrictions. Bitcoin's biggest advantage is not profit but freedom, privacy and decentralisation. Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: Versatile_choice on October 09, 2025, 05:06:18 PM Speaking of being free from government control, I think it all depends on the country you're coming from because in my country there are some certain platforms that restrict users from making purchase through bitcoin, Here in my country I barely see people purchasing goods and services online unless they will have to make the order outside the country and before this goods will be delivered it can take probably 3 to 4 weeks or so before the goods can get to the owner. Which there are some certain things that we May want to get as soon as possible then we will have to convert our bitcoin to fiat before we can get those stuffs. Those who are coming from those countries where bitcoin is made a legal tender can boast themselves about gaining financial freedom as they have been giving the right to decide either to hold bitcoin or fiat.but here you can't use bitcoin to make purchase.

You can literally send bitcoin anywhere without the need to ask for permission, using bank you'd more likely to be asked where you sent the money, with bitcoin the blockchain just don't care it will process your transaction regardless. So there's lesser hassle, middle men, and fee involved. I've rarely used remittance service these days, bitcoin already do all that for me, truly revolutionary. The government has savings schemes in place which offer 2% AER which doesnt really offer much when inflation is at 1.7%. so after 10 years your money is no better off for a "savings scheme" Bitcoin offers among other things a secure place for everyones wealth. The key though is to be fully independent and take full custody of it. Bitcoin constitutes a huge threat to the status quo and to the poet's that be. As such, we should realize that Bitcoin will be attacked from all sides and angles.
That means on and off ramps, exchange regulations, financial censorship, and the weakest link in my book is the core team. I think it's easier to infiltrate core than try to take control of all exchanges and wallets. This is why I believe the current spam war is the most imminent danger to Bitcoin right now. While Bitcoin's initial purpose has shifted somewhat, the general expectation now is for it to be used as a means of payment in everyday life. Perhaps, as interest in Bitcoin grows in the future, we may see banks gradually phased out. However, it wouldn't be wrong to say that the possibility of banks leaving the system is currently impossible. The banking system is currently essential for many economic values. The demand for bitcoin is growing and even growing rapidly but unfortunately most people are entering this market to invest, speculate and get rich quickly. No one uses it as a replacement for banks or traditional payment methods. So even if it becomes globally popular, banks will never be weakened or gradually phased out. Worse yet, banks will integrate bitcoin into their systems and people will deposit bitcoin in banks. Just like how many people are investing in bitcoin through ETFs and CEXs. If they trust centralized institutions like ETFs, there is no reason they would refuse to deposit bitcoins in banks. Ultimately, we will never stop depending on and cannot escape from banks and governments. Centralized exchanges currently dominate the market, while institutional investors (Wall Street) and mainstream governments are going all in Bitcoin. This is far from breaking "free" from government control, imo. While you can use Bitcoin in a non-custodial way, you'd still need a Fiat off-ramp to turn it into cash. The only way to do this is by depositing your BTC at a centralized exchange. P2P trading platforms and decentralized exchanges are great alternatives, but they often have low liquidity. People prefer convenience, so they will CEXs instead. I'm afraid Bitcoin will become "Wall Street's Coin", as it slowly moves away from its original purpose. Hopefully, the community will take action before it's too late. As an electronic currency system, Bitcoin's widespread recognition, which was previously only known to a select few, has helped achieve freedom in several ways, such as transactions that don't require a third party, thus providing transparency for its users. Bitcoin operates independently without aiming to eliminate others, but banks consider Bitcoin a rival. That's the closest thing to understanding how governments are involved. And I think we never fail Satoshi for that, because bitcoin has increasingly seen its usage across borders, where security and convenience are still visible. And having bitcoin as a good store of value comes a bonus. The more you save bitcoin, the more you will gain financial freedom from the selfish government and banks that until now have shown less sympathy for bitcoin.
Thanks to Satoshi for making this possible. While fiat has slowly losing its value, bitcoin on the other hand is now creating its own identity, not just as a good store of value but most importantly, as a great access for financial freedom. It’s proof that no matter how powerful governments become, people will always find a way to take back control. Thank God for Satoshi Nakamoto, who invented bitcoin and has given us some level of freedom using bitcoin. Bitcoin is a decentralized cryptocurrency, which means no body is in control of it, and every one is the custodian of their own fund and wallet, and we can make transactions without consulting the bank or any other third party agent. Bitcoin transaction is safe and secured, and requires very little transaction fee to execute your transaction, and has also giving us some level of privacy, unlike before, if you want to make any financial transaction, you will move to the bank and fill some form, before you can be able to make your transactions and sometimes because of network challenges, your transaction may not go through immediately, couple with extra charges from the bank, and you might even be forced to remain on cue, so the whole process was just very rigorous. Today, you can conveniently transfer and receive money at the comfort of your home without disturbance, you can even send money internationally without extra charges and that makes bitcoin very unique. Before now, there are times when even your own bank account would be monitored and some times, there can even be a ban on your bank account, and you won't be able to withdraw your money, today the use of bitcoin has set us free from all this problems. In many developing countries, Bitcoin isn’t just an investment anymore, it’s survival. When inflation wipes out savings or accounts get frozen, people turn to Bitcoin because it’s the only thing they can truly control. We still have a long road ahead but the fact that we now have a tool that gives people real financial freedom is already a victory. Bitcoin has changed the game for good. Like what is happening in our country, there is so much distrust to the government now due to massive corruption that's happening. And even the banks, they've got become stricter on how much we can withdraw per day on them. So, having our money in bitcoin is a savior and we don't have to worry if the government shutdowns and if the banks are not going to allow withdrawals. They can work on their own but I feel bad for our countrymen that has no idea about Bitcoin. If they just know how it can be used for situations like this, they'll have nothing to worry with.

Bitcoin poses a threat to them right from time and they knew it that's why they tried so hard to stop it. Although the revolution has been going on right from time but I guess the government has Lost because Bitcoin is growing wilder and stronger. Bitcoin is indeed a life saver. I could recall a person that has problem with bank and all asset including houses where sized was luckt enough to have alternative which was having Bitcoin and that was the only way the person was able to have something otherwise it would have been a total lost for him. That is why we should embrace Bitcoin and or Blockchain technology.

It's almost impossible to make financial transactions without using the banking system. Even after creating bitcoin to curb with this, we see how bitcoin itself shifted a little bit from itss major goal to limit banking culture within society. There is still assumptions that bitcoin will be widely used in everyday transactions but always under banking control. Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: laijsica on October 12, 2025, 01:30:20 AM The adoption of Bitcoin is still in its infancy. I would say it is still a long way off. If the governments of those countries considered digital assets more than investments, Bitcoin could have been used to fight inflation in those countries. Mass adoption by the general public and the accumulation of Bitcoin fractions could lead to strong economic growth.
The mass adoption of Bitcoin is beginning to transform into digital gold. Countries that have understood this have formulated reserve policies. The world's powerful financial institutions are hoarding Bitcoin and continue to buy it frequently to increase their holdings. By further increasing the mass adoption of Bitcoin as a global asset and using it for intra trade transactions, it is possible to establish a truly strong financial system. That is why governments need to buy Bitcoin to increase their reserves. Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: Adams0001 on October 12, 2025, 05:46:44 AM I guess all this factor listed by you is the reason government has been fighting against Bitcoin ever since creation knowing the damages it will cause them since they have plan to take full control of the financial system. Anything that government can't control he will always fight to get it under is control but they try with bitcoin but they failed and that is the main reason why government always don't want to be hearing about bitcoin because they can't get access to it or control it. Everyone have is freedom to used it without any collecting of tax. And banks are still fighting any transactions you mistakenly do and put crypto they will do anything possible to banned your account because they don't like any transactions that link to bitcoin and making it difficult for them to track. Bitcoin is growing everyday and no one will control it and many people are having more interest to invest in bitcoin and get control over your coin without feeling sad or thinking you will lose your funds in it. Let us continue investing in bitcoin and we will have peace of mind. And others are still thinking negative about bitcoin. So I also don't expect a bank controlling Bitcoin it will never happen. Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: ThemePen on October 12, 2025, 07:33:48 AM Yes this makes Bitcoin seen as tool of human rights and freedom other than money. You are right that invention of Bitcoin moves power away from governments and banks, and it provides people with real financial freedom as it allows them to send money without requesting permission and save their money without losing it due to inflation. To people in such nations as Venezuela or Argentina, Bitcoin is what they must have to live to avoid economic unfairness and purchase most basic of goods, and it is also used by reporters and activists to receive support safely without being silenced. So Bitcoin is strong proof that people will never stop trying to get control and freedom over their finances.

BTC and other cryptocurrencies don't completely help us break away from government control, but they do help in this context to a decent extent which is itself a proper miracle in my honest opinion.
Even world governments that tried to ban them like fools recognized their value over time which proves how useful they truly are. Crypto freaking rules. If their citizens save their money in USD, Euro, GBP, Swiss Frank and other currency, they'll combat local inflation because the exchange rate will change according to inflation. Bitcoin simply shines here because it's a deflationary currency and long-term, it always increases while no other fiat currency matches the rise of Bitcoin's purchasing value. For me, Bitcoin is more than just investment or profit. In short, here we only have our own rights over our money, we can use and control it as we wish. Currently, people from different countries are using Bitcoin to keep their money safe. However, we should not forget the risk aspect of Bitcoin. Its price fluctuates a lot, so it is not always safe. Using Bitcoin requires some technical knowledge, otherwise we can lose our money with a small mistake. Bitcoin is a medium where we can control our money without any government or center. Therefore, before using it, it is important to have awareness, risk management, and knowledge about safe use.Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: RealNoblee on October 12, 2025, 10:59:34 AM Bitcoin plays the best role in terms of security, discipline and freedom. We all know that we can't use Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies for everything in the world, at least not for the time being, so it's clear that we need to use fiat, and if we need to use fiat, we need to use banks and bank accounts, which means that we are not yet free from that dependence that we have on these systems, and it is not going to end soon, at least I don't think so. Countries and their governments know that it's not going to be a very good thing for them if they allow Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies to completely replace fiat systems, because then they will lose control over the finances and financial activities of their people, and they can't afford to let that happen. After all, a government wants to have complete control over their people, because that's how they will continue to have control over the country and everything happening in it. Without it, we’d still be fully under government control, every transaction tracked, every move monitored, and every rule forced on us even when it’s unfair. That's the actual goal of Bitcoin. The creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, wanted to create something that can't be controlled by anyone, and money can be sent worldwide just by a single click without any third-party involvement. As a result we got Bitcoin; neither government nor politicians can control Bitcoin. Means they can't trace us as well. This is the original financial freedom for us. We spend, and we know only; none of the legal authority can trace it. Bitcoin gave us something that banks and politicians can’t easily touch, and that is financial freedom. You can send money across borders without asking permission, protect your savings from inflation, and support causes even when governments try to silence them. Yes, as I said above. But it matters to protect your privacy. If someone else knows about your holdings and knows the address, then it's pretty easy to trace you. Remember, everything is traceable unless you protect your privacy yourself. We are only one contributor too to handle our funds and protect the privacy. Just make sure to use a true noncustodial wallet and secure wallet credentials along with protecting privacy. Are there many people that are using Bitcoin more than banks? Well, I agree with what you said that there are governments in certain countries where there really is a corrupted government, and for us living outside those countries, there's nothing that we can do. I also agree that we will always find a way to take back the control to ourselves, but let's not forget that governments will always find a way for us to be like their puppets, and that's the sad reality. As for my question, we know that there's more people that are using banks than Bitcoin that's why we can't really say that we are out of control of these governments already, and that's the sad reality. There are many people that are comfortable using banks and they don't have the time to learn about Bitcoin so they'll just simply ignore it. As for my first question, do we really achieve "FINANCIAL FREEDOM" if we use Bitcoin. I capitalized it because we know what happened a few days ago. ;) Many lost their money because of that unexpected event. Many lost thousands and even millions of dollar just because of one tweet. I know, and I believe that Bitcoin can help us achieve financial freedom, but let's not sugarcoat the fact that it can destroy our lives faster than we expect. :) Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: Botnake on October 12, 2025, 11:59:19 PM That’s definitely the original purpose of Satoshi why he introduced bitcoin to us, and thankfully we are getting closer to it. Financial freedom is the ultimate goal, and that will only be highly possible if the government already grants us global adoption for bitcoin. But for now, it’s still a long working process though, but everyone is rooting for it.
However at the moment, bitcoin is more used as an investment asset or tool. And I’ve say that creates high advantage for us most especially for those who are risk takers and are patient enough to wait for the peak price of bitcoin. And just by simply buying and hodling, we can already expect some future profits. But moreover, bitcoin as a currency should still be the final goal, so let’s keep working on it. Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: Iranus on October 13, 2025, 01:48:16 AM with time bitcoin will definitely replace fiat and then through financial freedom will set in. Bitcoin offer financial freedom that fiat doesn't, there are countries in which bitcoin is used for transactions, some countries are even settingup bitcoin reserves and if every country of the world should accept bitcoin as a means of transaction or exchange then it will definitely take away the power of government and banks since bitcoin isn't controlled by the government nor bank. I believe it just a matter time and we are going to enjoy the total financial freedom that bitcoin offers. While you expect bitcoin to be added to national reserves soon, on the other hand you say that over time it will take away the power of governments and banks. Do you know what you are saying? Did you forget that only governments and banks have the right to decide to add bitcoin to national reserves? We can not undermine the role of government in bitcoin adoption, even when they can not control it, they still have some influence over the global adoption. Government controls the economic and if they find trust in bitcoin then they will adopt it as a national reserve this will help to get many investors to invest in bitcoin. We still need government to investment or make policy that will help influence bitcoin in their countries. What's funnier is that most of us, including you, use bitcoin for speculation, to get rich quick. How are we getting closer to that goal when most of us are just treating it as an investment and at the end of the day, when we get profit we convert it to fiat? Or how many people are using DEX to avoid government oversight, or are most using centralized exchanges and even investing through ETFs? How can we say that we are pursuing the goals that Satoshi originally set for us? Financial freedom is a goal for all of us, but the freedom people are seeking is financial wealth, not freedom from government control. Most people aren’t being honest about how they use bitcoin. >:( >:( Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: nemesis_incarnate on October 13, 2025, 02:23:15 PM That’s definitely the original purpose of Satoshi why he introduced bitcoin to us, and thankfully we are getting closer to it. As of now, many more people see BTC for different end purposes and while we all define our own goals for ourselves (profit, ideals, ideas, or something in between) - we can't be saying that we are down the road that was probably intended for BTC, but we are still here and we appreciate it even more because it's the path of adaption, not just something ideal from the get-go. In this case, we basically do not have financial control or financial freedom.
But Bitcoin has broken this rule. We can exchange money anywhere we want without any permission. Bitcoin is not just a means of making profit, it has brought us financial freedom. Those who basically see it only as a means of making profit do not know its real power. Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: Y3shot on October 13, 2025, 05:15:32 PM Bitcoin is here for a good purpose. I'm just wondering if Bitcoin did not exist, how would low earners survive inflation? The rich can invest in other assets that may not be affected by inflation, but the low earners, who have only a little savings, won't know how to secure their money from inflation.
It would simply be left in the bank, but we have Bitcoin as a good store of value that can protect individuals from inflation, especially common people. Apart from control, inflation, and other factors, Bitcoin has been a significant advantage for the people because it has been adding value in different ways. Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: Nothingtodo on October 13, 2025, 05:16:58 PM Haha, our government in Bangladesh will never approve Bitcoin, so we can only earn Bitcoin by hiding it from our eyes, we cannot use it in any practical way. Since it is not legal in our country, the government does not take any serious steps regarding this Bitcoin. The citizens of this country invest as much as they can in Bitcoin and hold it in their wallets. Since it is not legal, our tax issue will not come here, but we convert it into our local currency through p2p in various central exchanges and then use it according to our needs. Although in this case, some of our local currency is given to local agencies as a token. Since it is not legal in our country, we do not use Bitcoin under the government.

Even activists and journalists in countries with censorship rely on Bitcoin to receive support safely. For me, Bitcoin is more than just investment or profit. It’s proof that no matter how powerful governments become, people will always find a way to take back control. I don't know what's happening in Venezuela and Argentina but I can tell you that there is nothing like freedom here in Nigeria that Bitcoin has help us with but I can 100% agree that Bitcoin can has help people that aspire to be financially free and independent than the government has helped us ever since that country had its independency, corruption has consumed the country to the extent that they don't see any value in Bitcoin like other countries. The government has succeeded in chasing all the exchanges, it's not all the exchanges that are working right now in Nigeria, we don't have p2p services that were everywhere back then, now we have to used the ones available and I'm sure that the government might be looking out this exchanges and be monitoring the movements of coins because they claimed the crypto exchanges are been used for money laundering which was all lies, it's because they don't want Bitcoin as competition. Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: Orpichukwu on October 13, 2025, 05:35:34 PM …So we can keep our fiat money in Bitcoin form and sell Bitcoin when we need money to fill our needs. But that will not stop the government from tracking the transaction because they will ask for help from the bank to know the transaction. If you exchange your fiat money for Bitcoin, it's no longer keeping your fiat money in Bitcoin. If you want to store your fiat digitally, then the right thing to do is to convert it into stablecoins like USDT. When we save in Bitcoin, we are not just trying to escape inflation, but we have a chance of making a profit while holding it for a long time instead of the usual way, where our savings value keeps on decreasing in our local banks.Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: SuperBitMan on October 13, 2025, 05:48:50 PM In a government or bank controlled financial system, they would monitor our transactions and decide how we would use our money. Bitcoin is not just a means of making profit, it has brought us financial freedom. Those who basically see it only as a means of making profit do not know its real power. You are right bitcoin has given us good financial freedom and the financial freedom is something I really love so much, one of the reasons I trust Bitcoin so much is it's decentralization and freedom, some set of people just like you said are only investing in Bitcoin because of the profit they can make why some people are investing in Bitcoin because of the freedom and also the profit it gives them, whichever reason one thing I know for sure is that the reason why majority of people are investing in Bitcoin is because of the freedom it gives and this decentralization it has no government can control Bitcoin, Bitcoin is something that is control by the community and not an organization or set of people, investing in Bitcoin right now is one of the most safest and most profitable investment right now in the world and I see no reason for being scared except you are going into bitcoin as a trader. Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: Makus on October 13, 2025, 06:55:22 PM The government of every country wants to be in charge of everything, they don't just want to monitor transactions and control everyone's financial life they also want people to always be beneath them. Bitcoin has not just taken away this control but It has also given people financial freedom. People no longer rely on the government for jobs or anything that can put them in a better position because Bitcoin exists. In some countries the government frowns at this, that's the reason why they try to ban the use of cryptocurrency

Not only you but the whole world is grateful for the invention of Bitcoin. With the creation of this Bitcoin, we have been able to free ourselves from various obstacles, especially since the invention of this Bitcoin and by having Bitcoin among us and working on Bitcoin, we have been able to free ourselves from unemployment. Inflation and unemployment rates in my country are very high. The importance of Bitcoin in my country has become immense. If this Bitcoin had not existed, we would have really destroyed ourselves by dragging the rope of unemployment. Not only my country, there are many countries like mine where this Bitcoin has liberated people to a great extent and eliminated unemployment.Bitcoin gave us something that banks and politicians can’t easily touch, and that is financial freedom. You can send money across borders without asking permission, protect your savings from inflation, and support causes even when governments try to silence them. So bitcoin only gave individuals the financial ground to become stronger in finance than ever before if only they recognised the opportunity in the early days. Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: allthebitandbobs on October 14, 2025, 06:56:09 PM Bitcoins have a lot of such benefits and have always proved to stand true when it comes to real-life use cases. Bitcoins give us freedom and ability to hold our money without any third part intervention. Ruling out the government was never the intention but making us the real owner of the money we own was the motive which was well achieved. Opposing governments can just make things hard so let's not do that instead let's just appreciate the ability bitcoins gave us to fully control the money we own without actually having to report to anyone.
We do have a lot of positive sides but there also are a few negative sides which includes not having any ability to recover lost funds. As no one actually controls bitcoins so it is never possible to recover lost funds and that is what might concern someone who might loose funds in future maybe because they stored the private keys somewhere and forgot or someone got access to their accounts. It’s proof that no matter how powerful governments become, people will always find a way to take back control. Without Bitcoin, people did make a way to survive without the support or barrier from the government sector, This is possible in countries where everything is not totally under governmental control and where taxes are not placed on working citizens, yet, the finance of the people are still under the control of banks and the banks are tamed by the government. But the presences of Bitcoin made a total change of everything. Bitcoin came to give a total freedom to every and anyone who can harness the possibilities in it. The countries which you mentioned above are countries that faces high inflation in almost everything, and the chances of survival with salary is way too low for carrying out daily expenses. But with the presence of Bitcoin, there is a freedom from monthly minimal payments, whereby meeting up with the different expenses can easily be managed. I wonder why many governments never wanted bitcoin reason why they want to regulate bitcoin yet they can’t achieve the aim of regulating bitcoin. Bitcoin seems like a threat to them, we all know the common creation of bitcoin was to give many financial freedom as op mentioned no doubt as time pass by the value of bitcoin increased and bitcoin is considered an asset now, many are more concerned about the value viewing how they’ll benefit from the market if holding for long, definitely the politicians also make use of bitcoin for anonymity purpose.
Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: Sammye3 on October 14, 2025, 09:28:30 PM Bitcoin has really helped to diversify means of saving and investments as well as providing security and anonymity as you mentioned. Providing access to manage funds and also financial freedom has being the biggest advantage the invention of Bitcoin has being to humanity. Unfortunately it is a little naive, BTC is now only useful as a semi-anonymous cash alternative as long as it remains a BTC transaction. The second you trade it for fiat in order to take care of life in the real world the governments take their tax out of it. Legislation has been introduced now that means your use of any of the exchanges is reported to governments; So, sadly it is far from anonymous and far from untraceable. I just posted about my recent experience with Coinbase, who are now demanding live face time chat as part of their ID and KYC processes. So, yeah that's really free from government intervention isn't it!? Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: Raflesia on October 14, 2025, 10:00:23 PM Well, most people don't look at it that way. Nowadays, people barely care about privacy or anonymity when it comes to their transactions or financial activities, maybe some people do, but most people don't, and it is also because they believe they can't get out of the chain they've been in not for decades but for centurie,s because their ancestors have been in the same system as them. This situation is unavoidable for several reasons and resigning oneself to the existing conditions is always one of the reasons that cannot be changed but in reality there are always loopholes that can be exploited. The problem is that even those who are involved in bitcoin are sometimes still unaware of anonymity because many of us still keep our assets on Cex which ultimately proves that not everyone involved in crypto, especially bitcoin understands the goals to be achieved. There are still some people who seem stubborn even after being informed, but that is their business. However for some other Bitcoin is always the answer especially for those who are fed up with their government's policies as I am feeling right now. Although I am still not completely free from it as the role of fiat currency is still vital for daily life at least with the presence of Bitcoin I can minimize some of the government's control measures aimed at restricting us to comply with existing regulations. So bitcoin only gave individuals the financial ground to become stronger in finance than ever before if only they recognised the opportunity in the early days. Just want to respond to this point as I see it a lot. Governments and Institutions are getting involved for different reasons. This is like being kicked out of a party. And then the rejects (we) decide to start our own party outside. And now, the cool kids (government and institutions) want to join the party because they realise a lot more is happening out here. Top institutions are losing clients to crypto and really fast. JP Morgan, Blackrock and other could see the writing on the wall. Thats why they jumped in to offer ETFs and blockchain products. Governments on the other hand can see the debt level across the board continue to spiral out. Again the writing is on the wall there. So it cannot last for long. They have two choices 1) try to control it (and they failing at that) 2) join in by acquiring a small amount and issuing their own versions In reality, both would rather not be involved in crypto. Buts the momentum is already there. The quicker they can join and influence it, the better for them. We need to give credit to the devs, the nodes and miners. Because the governments and institutions are trying thier best to ruin it! Yes, and the person responsible for all of this is, of course, the creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi, because even though we don't know who he is, he is definitely a good person and also a super genius. Because he was able to create an asset or currency that is truly decentralized, like Bitcoin. So I am also truly grateful that Bitcoin exists on this earth. Although I believe that most holders are more concerned about Bitcoin investment profit than it's privacy and freedom, they don't mind submitting KYC to buy and sell their Bitcoin. But for those who still hold their Bitcoin for privacy purpose nobody can deny them of their freedom and choice of holding and transactions, they can hold in none custodial wallets and do p2p transactions with only a second party. Bitcoin is decentralized and it gives choice to it's holders, it is something that any government cannot control.

Immediately that happens you're subject to government interference, taxation and legislation. You're not free from anything. You could not live your life normally just by using bitcoin, you cannot buy your groceries with it, you cannot pay your energy bills with it you cannot pay your mortgage with it until it is transferred back to fiat. It has no intrinsic value in normal life until it becomes fiat or a physical asset. While there may be some services and some products you can pay or buy purely in bitcoin, you just simply could not lead a normal life just using it for daily transactions. Don't try and tell me otherwise, after all who are you lying to me or yourself? Governments could turn bitcoin off at the flick of a pen if they wanted to. They'd just legislate to make ISP's block all P2P data carrying bitcoin data and then they'd legislate to ban the use of bitcoin in the country along with banning the mining of bitcoin. What happens to your freedom when that occurs. The ISP's wont listen to you they'll just follow the instruction of government. Bitcoin is now working as a symbol of trust to protect against political instability or revenge. No one can steal someone's assets if they keep their assets in Bitcoin. People have been under the control of the government for a long time, but now they can be completely free. Bitcoin is not only giving people financial freedom, it is also helping people preserve wealth and give the opportunity to create permanent assets. The full benefits of Bitcoin are obtained by keeping custody of your own coins (non-custodial). But people these days prefer convenience, so they will sacrifice their freedom by leaving their Bitcoin in a centralized exchange or wallet. That's far from breaking "free" from government control. Imagine if most of the circulating supply ends up in the hands of CEXs and "Wall Street". It would be an end of an era for good. For now, you're free to use Bitcoin in any way you wish. Hopefully, it stays that way forever. Just my opinion. :) Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: Fivestar4everMVP on October 18, 2025, 01:46:45 AM Look at what’s happening in countries with abusive governments... people in places like Venezuela, Nigeria, and Argentina use Bitcoin to survive hyperinflation and avoid frozen bank accounts. Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: Text on October 18, 2025, 01:53:35 AM Bitcoin represents so much more than just financial gains, it’s a symbol of self-sovereignty and resilience in a system that often feels stacked against ordinary people. What really stands out to me is how it gives individuals in unstable or oppressive regions a genuine alternative, one that isn’t dictated by borders, banks or bureaucrats. I think the real beauty is it restores a sense of empowerment and trust back to us no matter how many regulations or restrictions governments try to impose, the core idea behind it is freedom through decentralisation that continues to thrive, it’s inspiring to see how technology can become a tool for our independence.
Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: CryptoBuds on October 18, 2025, 03:59:22 AM Indeed, Bitcoin has done more good in our different societies and countries around the world than we can simply imagine, bitcoin has not only given us freedom of finance which is something the government initially had full control over, but it has as well made alot of us free from financial stagnation, instabilities and struggles, bitcoin has created more jobs in all the countries of the world much more than the government in those countries, no wonder some government feel threatened by bitcoin and have banned it over and over again, a good example is china.. So yeah, bitcoin indeed have given most of us financial freedom and independence from both the government and people around us. Bitcoin creates jobs, is that true? How can Bitcoin create jobs when it is just a decentralized currency system or a financial instrument? Did Satoshi or the bitcoin whitepaper ever mention this? You confuse me because I read about white paper but never saw it said that bitcoin will create jobs for people. Let's be realistic, bitcoin itself cannot create jobs because it is not an organization, company or founder. To be more precise, it is simply a catalyst for organizations and companies to create new jobs and thereby create more jobs for people. Many governments ban it because they fear losing control of their people, not because they fear it will create jobs or bring profits to their people. If bitcoin can create jobs or bring profit to people then it is good because more rich people will make a strong country. Not everyone who invests in bitcoin will make a profit and become rich. Only those with the right vision and knowledge can benefit by investing in bitcoin. Therefore, Bitcoin only brings financial freedom to those who know how to take advantage of it, not to everyone. Also, bitcoin does not free us from government control, we are still under their control. In the short term, that's true, but in the long term, you probably already know the answer. Because this condition has been proven and repeated over several periods. Next about Government Control, not entirely, but partially. Because not all transactions in the world fully accept Bitcoin as a form of payment. 1. Use centralised exchange instead of dexs and P2P. 2. Still keep their Bitcoin on top cex like Coinbase, they trusted Cex more. 3. They can't take responsibility responsibility of securing their BTC themselves. 4. Many are here for the money making part only. Now many people are using bitcoin on other chains which are centralized and not same bitcoin, people are using exchanges to keep their wallets and whenever they see the market dump they just rush into selling them. There are people that are not into Bitcoin as investment and I'm not sure if some us with Bitcoin are half close to what they have achieved in real sense. Bitcoin isn't about competition, Bitcoin is freedom because you don't get that elsewhere, you can have the fiat you have dream of but it doesn't comes with freedom of how to spend it, when to spend it and how to leave with it. There is no any investment like Bitcoin that's censorship resistance, no any of them come close, this is why government is doing everything to be in control by making everyone to do KYC, make them trace all the transactions as possible so they can be in control where your money follows anytime you sell your Bitcoin. They are trying to bring the same censorship to the bridge where you convert your fiat to Bitcoin and Bitcoin to fiat, the choice is yous to use them or not. To be honest, I feel like they were brainwashed about Bitcoin and thought that it was only used for illegal transactions and etc. It's still quite hard to tell whether they were brainwashed or they knew exactly what they were talking for their own benefit but I feel like they were brainwashed. Btw they also admit that they didn't care too much about regulating Bitcoin in my country because it would be an extra headache for them. Ignorance will give such misconception but once they educate themselves and learn more about this market, I would say, their perspectives will surely change. Because ignorance will give them false expectations and wrong concept of this market, especially if they are seeing news of scammers and all because of crypto. But we all know that the technology itself is actually ground breaking, but the people who are utilizing it are the real problem of this system. And so, people need to educate themselves to really know the true nature of this currency. And I would say, their approach will change once they start learning the concept behind of this currency. Maybe the government is good in countries like Norway and a few other ones but the rest of the world is in a terrible situation, especially countries that were once part of the soviet union. Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: nemesis_incarnate on October 28, 2025, 10:16:23 AM Yes, we will truly get rid of the government if we combine noncustodial wallets with decentralized platforms. In case if we only use noncustodial wallet but still use CEX or centralized platform with KYC for trading. We are still under government control, and I guess most of us do it this way because, as you said, it is convenient and easy. We have not yet achieved the true freedom we think we have. But my question is, do we really want freedom and that's why choose bitcoin, or are we just in it for the profit? Each decides for himself why he chooses BTC. But usually people start to appreciate freedom only when they had a bad situation related to it.. frozen funds, so on. Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: SuperBitMan on October 28, 2025, 10:42:09 AM If the nature of Bitcoin is decentralization, then it certainly believes in freedom. When we keep money in the bank, when I go to withdraw my own money, I have to withdraw the money according to various government regulations. Many times you have to maintain a long serial number in the bank to withdraw money and face a lot of trouble. In this case, if you are holding Bitcoin, then you can sell Bitcoin from that holding Bitcoin to meet your needs. Because in this case, your Bitcoin is under your control, that is, you are the controller of your Bitcoin. Bitcoin is not controlled by any third party and there are no government regulations to withdraw and deposit Bitcoin. You are free here and your free thinking will work. Bitcoin guarantees that transactions can be made without any restrictions. That is only true if you hold the keys/seeds to your Bitcoin (via a non-custodial wallet). You'd also need to use a decentralized exchange or non-custodial P2P trading platform if you don't want to deal with KYC. Only this way, true freedom from the government can be achieved. Many people don't know this, as they're only into Bitcoin for the money. They use centralized wallets and exchanges out of convenience. All without knowing the risks of doing so. But my question is, do we really want freedom and that's why choose bitcoin, or are we just in it for the profit? I really don't think with KYC we are under government control, even if we want to stay away from government control the government still needs to do there duty to make sure the society is crime free and one of the way to do that is making sure criminals using cryptocurrency can still be identified. Now what we mean by being free from government control is that there policy's won't affect our finances any more like in my country because of bad government our currency is losing value but if you have your money in Bitcoin you won't be affected by that. You asked a very good question, people are investing in Bitcoin for different reason, some are investing in Bitcoin because of the profit they will make from it while some are also investing in Bitcoin so that inflation will not affect them, there are so many reasons why people are investing in Bitcoin what ever maybe the reason choosing Bitcoin is a very good option, but I believe majority of people are into Bitcoin Because of the profit they can get from it. Sadly or fortunately, that's how we view things, people do be loving stability and money made from a coin than what it represents.

Maybe the government is good in countries like Norway and a few other ones but the rest of the world is in a terrible situation, especially countries that were once part of the soviet union. And yeah in many countries government officials don’t really care about the potential of crypto because it doesn’t benefit them directly they’d rather maintain the system that keeps them in power and lets them move money quietly through their own networks what you said about your government members laundering money through secret deals is something that happens in a lot of places it’s ironic that they call bitcoin risky while their own fiat system is used for the same or even worse crimes. Some countries like norway or switzerland might have a more open and honest government that actually tries to understand and regulate crypto properly but in many others corruption and fear of losing control are the main reasons why bitcoin is still seen as the enemy so maybe it’s not just ignorance but also self interest they know exactly what bitcoin can do they just don’t want to give up their control over money. Unfortunately, ignorance they say is a disease but many people including those in authority and academia still view bitcoin through the narrow lens of what they see in the mainstream media. Most of these people who belong to the older class of age see bitcoin as scam and money laundering platform. It is unfortunate to me because they rarely take time to even understand the deeper innovation behind bitcoin which includes financial freedom through decentralization and transparency. And like you mentioned, once they genuinely take out of their times to study how bitcoin works, their mindsets will definitely change and I know they will also start seeing it as a tool that challenges the monopoly of centralized finance and gives people more control and ownership over their own money. I'm sure they will also pick interest and will want to give it a try immediately. Their world is not the same afterward. Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: puloweh555 on October 28, 2025, 03:10:12 PM Thanks to Bitcoin, that's what I keep saying every day because if not for Bitcoin, I don't think the thought of financial freedom we look up to in the future, we would have the zeal to aspire to that because the way our government treats and taxes us in everything, you would believe that they want us to remain under their control, so that they can control and monitor our finances and decides how our financial status would look like, not to grow beyond our earnings that we will think of, having something great for ourselves Yes, we should be grateful because with Bitcoin we have freedom, not only to achieve financial freedom but also to protect value from inflation. Bitcoin's original ideals are slowly becoming a reality uncontrollable and a way to achieve freedom. Look now at how corrupted fiat is, under the control of central banks they continue to print money while we accumulate it but its value continues to decline. Furthermore the great thing about Bitcoin is that we can conduct transactions easily, without the hassle of a third party. When traveling long distances, for example abroad, we can easily carry our assets wherever we go. We only need to carry Phase Seed to access them anytime and anywhere. Carrying Bitcoin is even simpler than carrying gold. So Bitcoin is very helpful today in storing value and achieving freedom. Title: Re: Thanks to Bitcoin, we’re slowly breaking free from Government Control Post by: Nexus9090 on October 28, 2025, 04:41:22 PM Yes, we should be grateful because with Bitcoin we have freedom Sorry to bust your bubble; but NO Bitcoin does not give you freedom. Its an illusion. If governments wanted to they could end Bitcoin in an instant and all of you supposed freedom would go with it. Stop deluding yourselves, Bitcoin is like any other asset these days, it is under govt. regulation. As I've said previously in this thread Bitcoin is not as decentralized as you might think. What happens when govt. legislate to prevent ISP's allowing Bitcoin P2P data to traverse "their" networks? Bitcoin is completely reliant on other companies infrastructure, these companies are under the influence of government legislation. It will never be free from govt. interference and frees you from nothing. You cannot buy groceries with it, you cannot pay your bills with it and you cannot live your day to day life spending it. It is not what you think it is. It has no intrinsic value and what value it has is only realised once it is converted to a physical asset or to fiat. Again both of which are subject to govt legislation. So, where is the freedom part exactly? |
