Are you required to verify your identity (KYC) before using a Bitcoin ATM? If not, how do they avoid transactions being used for tax evasion or other purposes ?

As mentioned above, if you have multiple questions about ATMs, better make them in one post.

But to answer your question, different countries --> different laws and regulations. Some of them would allow you to buy or sell using your phone number only. You could find that data by going to CoinATMRadar: https://coinatmradar.com/

Just select the country then the address/ATM you want to use, and it would show you the limits, whether KYC is required, etc.

It depends entiurely on the country where BATM is and their regulation.

For example, here in Croatia we don't have to go throuygh KYC when using them as long as transactions are below 1k euro. So yeah, its up to you whether you want it to report it to the tax offcie or now and you can imagine what majorify of people are chosing.
