Title: ever bet with friends where the loser buys the beer?
Post by: Kasabus on November 01, 2025, 11:39:51 PM
I have a friend and we usually make small bets whenever there’s a close game, like when two teams are evenly matched, he takes one side, I take the other.
But instead of betting money, the loser has to buy a case of beer.

So if I win, I don’t spend a dime but still end up drinking with the boys. If I lose, well… at least we still drink.  ;D

Anyone else tried something like this? those friendly bets where everyone ends up happy no matter who wins?

That's healthy gambling, I like it ;D

You don't risk a lot of money and still have fun with friends which is healthy and strenghts the relation with your boys. It's also very fun to say I told you so when you win or just banther when you lose but still have fun

And no addiction because there is no flashy lights or animations in your face like many casinos

Such bets are popular among friends who are sports lovers, but it all happens in different ways depending on what is being proposed on the table. Sometimes it's a bet made on one favorite team over another by a friend who might be against your team raising such a bet, like if your fan team ever wins this match I will pay for everything etc., I can't recall if I have gone into live betting with anyone recent over who pays for a bottle of beer.

yeah bro!! that kind of bet is the best kind no real losers, just good vibes!! it keeps the game fun without the stress of losing money i have done something similar with friends too sometimes it is food instead of beer! like, loser buys pizza or suya. it is more about the bragging rights and laughter afterward than the actual bet itself and truly that’s what betting should feel like lighthearted and social not something that causes tension or regret

There's something similar in my company. When we get together and decide to gamble, all winnings are always shared among the whole group. This includes not only beer but also good drinks at good restaurants and clubs. I've written about this more than once: gambling is always fun for me, so much so that I don't mind spending the money I win.

I do that type of thing with my friends all the time. It is probably the most harmless way to prove a point (or fail to prove) . These harmless bets show us that gambling actually can be fun unlike many people think. You know so many people are obsessed with gambling because they want to make a living out of it and they don’t want to accept the fact that some people only play to have fun. These “winner takes the beer” bets are a perfect example to show them it is not always about winning and earning an income. I’ll take this one step further, I say these are probably the most funnest bets you’ll ever be making. It is like betting against someone on polymarket but there is not middleman or a casino here. It is pure p2p face to face gambling. It can’t get any better than this.

I think everybody here does that even once in their life. Some grown-ups now may have been doing this for fun. Especially when every boys are gathered around to watch their favourite sports.
Me and my friends normally root for the same team. So, we place a bet on who scored the most. I mean, the player who scores the most, assists, rebounds, and every other stat line that we could think of, and yeah, we are fans of the NBA and some local basketball league. Whoever loses will pay half of our bill, and all the other boys will split the other half, so it won't be too expensive for the loser. We were hard drinkers by the way, so it will be very expensive if it's being paid by only 1 person lol.

When beer’s involved, you call it a friendly bet, nobody really loses in that kind of setup. People say betting can be stressful or even addictive, but maybe this is the perfect fix. After the game, everyone’s laughing, getting tipsy, and that’s where the fun kicks in. As long as it stays responsible, no harm done… though let’s be honest, one case of beer probably won’t be the last.  :D

Of course, and I'm not surprised that the answers so far have been affirmative. Beer or drinks in general, or who pays for dinner, things like that. It's a low-risk bet that benefits everyone, so it's totally cool.

People say betting can be stressful or even addictive, but maybe this is the perfect fix.

Well, the difference between this type of betting and betting in general is that there is no scalability. You can go to a casino, go on a gambling spree, and lose too much money. Here, you're limited to a round of beers, or maybe two rounds if you push it, but that's it.

Nevermind because one day someone will break your head with bottles ,how you possibly win and you are still drinking with person who lost ,just be careful maybe when you win ,try take your own bottles and go home, you will think you are having fun,but the other parties are feeling so bad for losing but you will never knew, just be careful gambling bring so many enemies when you loss
U keep saying it,no amount of money someone will loss today in gambling you must feel it ,just be careful staying with them when they loss

This betting could seriously harm your health 😂
Just kidding, of course!
This is one of those reasons why you should be happy and carefree, spend time with friends having fun, no matter who wins or loses, at the end of the day it's shared, so bring on the bets.
I personally don't do it because I don't like alcohol in general!
If you want to bet with me, we can play for a nice barbecue! The loser pays. 😂

That's what we called gambling for fun because their is more to it than just gambling. Their is nothing like drinking with genuine friends, because it brings love and togetherness more than anything else, and with that pattern of gambling where the loser will have to pay for everything, it will be real fun and it's a type of gambling that you and your friends will be looking forward to, hoping that the week ends fast,  so that you can try it out again.

Another sweet fun game I played this year was at a birthday party were we were given numbers, and if your number is called, you are expected to respond and call another number of your choice, once you fail to respond fast or taken unaware, you must drink, and since it's a very strong alcoholic drink, everyone is trying to stay competitive as ever in other not to fall victim. Sometimes we even stake money among ourselves that Mr  A falls victim before you.
So that's a true definition of healthy gambling, since their is no way you can get addicted.

Insane experience isn't it? I've tried something similar with my friends and I still sometimes remember the whole fun days, now they are married and scattered across the continent, I am now a boring person living his secluded life.

I work remotely and this type of gaming for fun might never happen again, it was so much fun in those days, there is no money risks on the table all you have is true challenges among your friends, no panic attack just pure challenges.

I can remember doing something this similar on my birthday and a friend's birthday too, they got themselves drunk because I won several times, the challenge isn't about buying beers but drinking certain amount of the beers.

Definitely, we've done it before but through online. We were all on a Discord group and we are watching Dota 2 TI and while we're watching we have our own beers and we tease each other which team on the Game 1 will win and whoever wins will buy the rest a beer and some food and we all agree, 2 people in our group lose and bought the rest a beer and food. The thrill is there and we're all having a good time, we do this most of the time and I think it all started during the pandemic where we can't hangout physically and now we're doing it online since most of us are working virtually.

I don't drink alcohol, and I don't gamble with other people in my country either. But I've seen many people from my country making those kinds of bets; from what I could tell, they bet beer, money, and other things. The problem is that it always ends in fights that I can hear and watch from my house, which is only 20 meters away from where they are. Unfortunately, alcohol and gambling are the worst combination. When people drink alcohol, they lose control, they lose all self-control, and anything can turn into a fight.

Many people should learn from this.
Why all the excitement? The whole purpose of this game is to have a great time, it's all about fun.
Buying bear doesn't cost anything I believe, even the loser will be eager to buy the beer and have a good time.

This should be eye opening example to why gamblers should seek for fun and exciting gambling experience rather than money here and there, I learnt that risking small money on gambling to get some fun time is worth it more than risking high money for the purpose of making higher returns.

I would rather have my gambling experience be like this rather than using gambling to change my financial life.

ALWAYS! specially while watching Basketball games or Boxing match. The loser will pay all the bills.
That is one of the most thrilling bet we can have with friends watching an exciting games while drinking and if you will, you will go home happy without spending a single penny.
And you will notice that the game was ended and winner has beed decided yet the  boys are still there drinking and laughing, creating best memories.

Yes, I think it's normal in our country to have that kind of friendly bets. No money involved and both parties very happy at the end of the day.

So it's a win-win situation. And maybe that one case of beer is not enough, Lol, and so there will be someone who's going to volunteer and buy another round for the boys. Like in basketball games, even local games here, we sometimes bet on who's going to win and loser buying the beer.

We have played a similar game with friends while watching sports. We have played under a rule - bet a symbolic, yet "a good" high risk bet aka a bet which is unrealistic to win. And whenever someone wins it, he has to spend all the money on beer for everyone. So its a collective decision making bet (because everyone wants beer :D) The goal of such betting is spending time with friend and have fun, it is never goal to earn.

Good for us if the goal is just to get drunk, right? You enjoy the game, and no matter the result, you still end up drinking so everyone’s happy. Even the losing side joins in once the bottles open. I used to do that with my officemates before. Back when I was younger, I didn’t even need a reason to drink; I’d just go out to the bar for fun. But once I started a family, my priorities and interests shifted.

It's a common thing here in Brazil to bet a beer or a soda
Especially when the teams we support are playing
And when I say it's common, I mean it's really common, hehehe, we always hear: Want to bet a beer that my team will win?

It's a form of socialization, since in most cases, both will enjoy the prize

You’re Brazilian, bro? Nice to know!

Well, same here in the Philippines. I guess it’s not really about which country you’re from as it’s happening everywhere. Betting just brings real fun. No stress, just pure entertainment. Let’s be honest, it’s always a good time when you’re having a few drinks with your buddies.  :D

Shots! Shots! Shots! Shots!

That’s how we do it! At some point, we even forget about the betting once the beer keeps coming... it’s all just pure fun.

Hopefully, the talks stay positive though, not the kind where someone starts bragging about winning while the loser gets salty for footing the bill.
Or maybe throw in some real money on top of the beer, make that the main bet and keep the beer as the side pot, that sounds fun too!

I still often do it with my friends, especially when we intentionally gather to watch a match at a certain place. Not just drinking, but sometimes we bet, with the loser paying for all the orders.
Betting with friends like that is really fun. There’s no disappointment or anger when losing. It feels different when we gamble money on sports betting sites.

I have only had some funny challenges when winner (in a money based competition) buys beer. I think its unfair to ask loser to buy a beer. He is the person who face something negative and require to be cheered. A winner should buy beer, to share positive moment. Its about friendship after all. It more real (or fair) to have «I owe you beer» in exchange for something situation, than loser buying beer to someone.

I don't try again because I still lose on my side. I can not enjoy the drink because  it can make me lose control when I drink with my friends. I can not bring anything home but only get drunk and cause other problems. The loser may win from the bets although they lose the money, they don't lose the drink so they are still in the winning position. They get a free drink and they can drink many.

this is good practice for your betting skills and allows for you and your friends to bond and since it is just beer i am sure you guys would not be fighting for when someone loses unless you all decide to suddenly bet something bigger and more valuable

We are always doing this whenever we have an argument on sports. We settle it on bet like this so that no matter who win we will enjoy the bets and at the same time someone will prove his point correct.

This is fun way to gamble with friends because the lose money is still being shared to the losers.

It’s the best way too on settling argument on a peaceful way.

Sounds like nice trick to enjoy the moments of watching a sport. When you some stake into a game that too a close one, I am sure that you must be getting lots of excitement along with the progress of the game. Moreover your ideas of even the loser will be joining the party must be a real highlight of your gambling. I really like this part. Because, the next time when your friends will be calling for same type of gambling, I guess that you will not be having any hesitation even you have lost your last bet and you have sponsored the whole party. Definitely I am going to discuss this with my office friends as we already do watch lots of matches together.

This arrangement is very popular among friends, some might not place bets directly on a bet site they will casually make the bet among themselves, loser will buy drinks for everybody. Sometimes bets are placed on a bet site and because each person is sure that their team will win they can do side bet where loser will pay for their drinks. Gambling should be about having fun with amount that you can afford to loose or drinks that you can afford to buy, where it will no longer be fun is if friends are betting among themselves with significant amounts, it then becomes a stiff competition among them.

Seem like fun.
I haven't tried this though but hope to some day however with some non-alcoholic beverage or some other stuff. One of the advantages of this is that it prevents chasing losses and truly brings out the true purpose of gambling which is for fun and entertainment purposes except for those who do it as a form of work.

This gambling type is just for fun, and i would actually play gambling like this, as long as its for a beer, others do way more which is not fun, some do gambling like if you lose you treat everyone to a meal that you don
t need to ask how much or there is no limit, some people do really know how to have fun that not gonna hurt their pockets, this people are really your friends, as long as its not too much its okay.

Yes. We do this every year. I have a neighbor who always asks me what team I am rooting for when the Finals of the NBA are near. The bet will always be food and drinks, but we will all consume them. The punishment is buying the drink and cooking food for everyone, but we will all have a good discussion about the game while consuming it.

In the past, I did this with my friends, but ever since I moved to another place, it has stopped. Thankfully, my neighbor is also a fan of the sport.

I’ve got a different setup. We drink too, but we’re not betting against each other, we’re on the same side. We put some real money on the game, grab a few beers, and just enjoy it while watching. If the game runs long, the drinks last just as long. Sometimes we even end up watching two games back-to-back, so it turns into a full session. I don’t know why, but there’s just something about drinking and betting at the same time that makes it way more fun.

On the one hand, it seems like a friendly bet, but on the other, a case of beer isn't that cheap. Have you ever compared how much you could have spent on the bet if you lost, and how much you'll spend on beer if you lose this friendly bet? It doesn't seem that profitable to me, unless you're looking to get drunk, because a case of beer will definitely get you and your friend drunk, and leave you with a nasty hangover in the morning.  ;D

This is better off than gambling with cash because physical gambling don't usually end well, it is either you end up fighting with friends or having a quarrel with them. But this way I think nothing can come between you and your friends, rather you can only end up getting tipsy LoL.

Though I have never tried something like this before, even if I try bringing this idea to my friends I'm sure that they Will not find it interesting since it's all about drink and nothing else that is attached to it.

Yes, inviting to drinks or paying the round of beers is quite a classic between friends who also like to bet. Friends, sports, beers and bets make an infallible combo. I have had to pay more than once but I've also enjoyed some free drinks paid by others who lost, in a party atmosphere, especially in great events like World Cups or Grand Finals in general.

The clue is in what you said about the fact that everyone ends up happy, no matter who wins, because this way everybody wins somehow.

This is the kind of experience I like not something I’d do regularly, but during big games like the playoffs or the finals. I’m not really into soccer, but when it comes to the NBA, I usually bet big once the playoffs start, especially during the Finals. It just feels great to watch and bet at the same time, knowing the whole world’s tuned in it’s like celebrating together.

It’s honestly a nice feeling being a sports fan. It works like a stress reliever, something that takes your mind off things.

And at my age now, I don’t think I’d love the sport this much if I wasn’t betting on it.

This is really the definition of gambling for fun, I have gambled with friends on something similar, in our case we buy drinks with a good volume of alcohol collectively, and we bet on games as well the loser will take one full glass or more of the the alcoholic drinks. The fun here is that,  if the losers of the bets are not good with alcohol, he will start making fool of himself and display characters of drunkareds and we will laugh at that person. But if he is someone that can carry alcohol, he is good to go. But we make sure the losers get a good portion of alcohol.

Although apparently a fun activity, these activities may have hidden to it a darker aspect of social interaction. The pleasure may culminate in sufferings or even vices, particularly the alcohol. Other individuals will be compelled to attend or feel coerced to obey regulations that are outside their comfort zone. This may hurt their emotional and physical health. A rational enjoyment and preserving the dignity of every person is preferable to putting a person into a position they may not like.

To me this isn't gambling but you guys were just catching funs. There was a time I also got involved in this kind of game, though it wasn't similar to this one . It was a card game and we do set money the winner will have to go with the money. It was really fun and entertaining and we don't normally get ourselves bothered since we used to gamble with only small amounts of money.

While this seems harmless, there should still be caution because indirectly some persons may be cultivating the habit of gambling, and when there is no friend around to have this sort of bets, they may cultivate the habit of gambling just to maybe replicate the thrill they had from such bets.

This may be the doorway to addiction some people will face later in the future, hence the reason I say caution should still be exercised. If not addiction to gambling, it could breed addiction to alcohol.

This is what i call gambling for fun and not that which we really do at the casino, with this you get to have fun even when you loose and have to pay for the drinks but at the casino you will not completely have all the fun, you will still have it in mind that you have lost money but with this you still get a drink even while losing your money, i have not tried it on drinks before but i have tried it on food, where we were discussing about something and we tried looking up the actual fact about the subject of discussion and the person who was wrong had to pay for the food, we all enjoyed the meal even when it was a reward of someone's gamble.

I strongly recommend this for a fun gamble, if you want to experience fun gambling, you get it most if it is this way other wise, you will still have some resentments about the fact that you lost some money gambling even when you try to pretend you were having fun.

I always do this with a friend who shares my interest in sports. If we are betting on the same boxer, we will do a coin toss, and the loser will have no choice but to pick the other boxer.

The last time it happened was on the Crawford-Canelo fight, we both picked Canelo to win the battle, so we turned to toss a coin and the winner would have no choice but to choose Crawford. My friend lost the coin toss and ended up betting on Crawford.

As we all know, Crawford won by a unanimous decision. It's fun doing this kind of bet with friends; there is no pressure. We are joking about our bets after the match, which is good for bonding with one another.

This IMO would be the best scenario for people to bet. Low cost and have a good time with friends is much better for your mental health vs wagering big and losing the house causing divorce or suicide.

Obviously that's a worst case scenario, but a true 1 nontheless. People don't realize when they are making a bet what consequences may arise from losing the bet.

I've made a lot of bets like this with friends, especially during the World Cup. I often make bets with my friends where the bet is to eat at a restaurant, or have a beer, or some other type of food or travel.

These bets with friends are a lot of fun and there is no sorrow in winning or losing in gambling. Both the winner and the loser enjoy the winning of that bet with great joy. I don't call these real gambling, it's just celebrating with friends while enjoying the game. These things add more excitement of watching the game.

How many cases of beer have you already had to buy for your friends? :) This is how I try to assess the degree of "success" of your forecasts.

Such friendly bets add an element of even greater "interest and excitement" to watching sporting events together. And while no one will be a loser no matter the outcome (even the person buying the beer won't be left feeling offended), the key to such shared events is spending time together. Will have to try organizing something similar. :)

This is the first time I'm hearing something like this and  I think it's not a bad idea, at least to strengthen love and friendship while having fun at the same time.

Sometimes gambling shouldn't be all about making profits or chasing of big win and stuffs like that, but should be all about catching the full vibes (fun) in it, as a matter of facts I can tell you that If you keep chasing profits in gambling you rarely see it, you will keep recording persistence lost always, but once you forget every possible gain and catch the groove all the way you start seeing big wins that you didn't expect.

Gambling and betting on who wins and who loses, they have to treat the winner, that was our betting method when we were in high school, at that time crypto online casinos didn't exist yet, besides at that time fiat online casinos were also accessible, yes, this kind of betting became an attraction for teenagers at that time, we usually did it when watching sports matches such as volleyball, football, basketball.

Since the advent of crypto-based online casinos, we have never done such bets any more, each of us can access the online casino and place our own bets, only whoever wins is treated to eating and drinking together, and whoever wins pays.

You have gotten yourself a real lovers of sport that has zero anger issues in them and you should keep them mate, I haven't seen a gathering of sports lovers like this that the would have to still buy drinks for everyone even after losing but this is a good idea and I will introduce it to my friends and I'm sure they will definitely accept it because it's also a way of having fun with friends while gambling in a healthy way. Gambling shouldn't be just for the money alone, sometimes it should be based on something else among people that understand each other.

Beer is affordable and even if you end up spending on a bottle or two there is not going to be any regrets because it's for your enjoyment and relaxation..This form of gambling is better than the type that you lose money so I would call it a healthy replacement, that's what evey gambling addict needs to replace their activities with if they find it hard to quit totally, buying the beer isn't the main thing. It's makes you gamble responsibly

You don't risk a lot of money and still have fun with friends which is healthy and strenghts the relation with your boys. It's also very fun to say I told you so when you win or just banther when you lose but still have fun

And no addiction because there is no flashy lights or animations in your face like many casinos
Though a beer can indeed be healthy but as long as you only consume it in moderation. They are talking about one case there but maybe there are also plenty of members in his circle. A single beer can also be expensive now and how much more if it is one case? There are alternatives out there like playing board games that are truly inexpensive or even free and then healthy that we can use to bond with someone else.

Addiction doesn't only come with flashy stuff but it can also come from within, especially on these idea where one can just drink a free beer. People always love free stuff and then beer itself is already addicting.

Others people are more excited by sports betting as it is much more directly related to real life thus we experience the tension of every game. It is not that you only hope regarding winning and just being able to cheer your favourite team or athlete. Casinos on the other hand focus on randomised games as well as a new atmosphere. It is a question of taste in the end, however, a large number of individuals like sports betting due to its relatable and entertaining quality.

I only remember this happening once, but it was a long time ago and spontaneous. We were watching a World Cup football match at a friend's house with a big group. Someone predicted that Spain would win, while another friend said it wouldn't, so they decided to add excitement and make it more fun for everyone else. That's exactly what happened; we found the match more interesting and enjoyable to watch, and of course, the loser bought it, because there were a lot of friends and he couldn't cheat. As for me, I was betting on beer against another player in CS 1.6. We were playing 1x1 because he thought he was better than me. I ended up losing and had to buy him a beer. I was really upset, and after that, I never wanted to bet on beer again.

I wish I had friends that I could make such bets with but unfortunately they are all interested in making money and not buying a beer as a reward. There's is nothing wrong with this because it is a way to get your mind off spending a lot of money on gambling, if there's anyone that's dealing with gambling addiction i would recommend this as a means to help reduce the effect of negative influence of gambling.

Somehow this is part of the gambling for fun, and what gambling is all about just testing your skills and luck and whatever the results you just move on with that at once, this is when greed have not stepped into a gambler.

Any ways keep enjoying the game with your friends, ultimately I have participated in such games with couples of friends before but we just gift the winnings instead alcohol.

I've tried it a few times, and I find this type of gambling scenario more fun than gambling alone. However, when I'm with friends, we usually bet a few packs of cigarettes.

We gather somewhere when the match is about to start and watch the game together until it's over. No one is allowed to leave the venue before the match ends, no matter what the reason. When the match ends and the winner is announced, we usually go straight to the store to buy cigarettes and some regular drinks, as agreed, and enjoy them all together.

I think this type of gambling scenario is healthier, because we get everything from the adrenaline rush and the thrill, and the loser still gets to enjoy the results. ;D

Old memories came to mind. Yes, when we used to watch games with a few friends, like you, one friend would bet with another friend. The two friends would support two teams and bet on different teams. Instead of money in the bet, we would bet on cold drinks or other food items like you. And in the end, the loser would feed us. We would all eat together, which was a lot of fun. The amount of our bets would also be very small so that no matter who lost, there would be no pressure on his financial condition. Things were really fun.

It's fun and exciting, it adds excitement and interest to the match, and it'll be something to remember years later. Most importantly, it didn't put financial pressure on anyone, because otherwise, it would have affected the loser's life. He could have a family and elderly parents who need constant support. I also only bet with all the risks in mind and don't plan to exceed them, so I don't feel bad later or experience discomfort. I generally didn't have this experience with my friends, because they all preferred brick-and-mortar slots and played alone.

It's just a bear. You never paid $5 for a friend to get a bear and have fun? ???

When gambling some people spend money of a monthly salary and lose it all, it is very different. The bear is very harmless if you are just drinking with friends sometimes, we are not talking about drinking every night! For gambling online you have a lot more easier access because you just need a phone anywhere you are to gamble in slots or other addicting games

Sure, there are obviously situations like that when you want to just engage in this kind of contest with a friend, which the purpose is just for fun and not really for the money. When I was in secondary school, I involved in some kind of bets like this but it was not really about buying of beer but some items was used as the price to be won if the team we bet on was to win.

The kind of bet which I often go into with my friends almost every week is the type where we can all contribute money to buy what we need for a sit-out and start to play a card game; whoever loses will have to drink more of a specific drink, and if you lose on a streak and happen to drink up to a certain amount, you will have to bail yourself out with enough money to refill the entire table. The reason for the bailout is to have enough reserve money for entertainment and also to avoid one person getting drunk.

I think every gambler has had those exciting moments. In my neighborhood, the most common game for betting with friends is dominoes. It's really just for fun, and intended to make the game feel a bit more serious.
Sometimes, most gamblers still treat their friends to food or drinks when they win at the casino. I think this is quite a healthy thing within a circle of friends, as it helps strengthen emotional bonds.

I missed college days reading your comment because we do this a lot during weekends. I frequently asked my mom for an extra allowance for the “group project” which we are just hanging out on friends house.

We usually have this kind of betting game that involves food that we will rest of the rest of the day that we decided on a card game. The winner will choose what food we will purchased using our combined money.

I have had similar bet multiple times in the past, we don’t even make use of bear. Sometimes when one of us is suppose to perform a task, and nobody wants to sacrifice, we will decide to bet, and whoever lose will be the one to do the task, sometimes who so ever win will be exempted from doing what we are suppose to do, then others are going to do it.

Bets like this are always so interesting because at the end nobody will be addicted to gambling, nobody is going to lose big, and nobody will be winning anything serious. People that participate in bets like this are people that gamble for fun, you know you don’t have anything special to win, all you will be winning is a bottle of bear.

yeah bro!! that kind of bet is the best kind no real losers, just good vibes!! it keeps the game fun without the stress of losing money i have done something similar with friends too sometimes it is food instead of beer! like, loser buys pizza or suya. it is more about the bragging rights and laughter afterward than the actual bet itself and truly that’s what betting should feel like lighthearted and social not something that causes tension or regret

I'm Sure that this kind of bet is even going to be more fun than betting with cash, and yeah I would prefer doing with food just like you said instead of beer! Since I'm not that good in taking those drink. But even as that I think is still going to be fun especially to those that like taking beer. though I have not done this with friends before and we never thought about this before I think I will try and introduce this method of gambling to my friends but I won't go with the idea of buying beer I will go for food like pizza or suya just like you said because this things you mentioned here don't cause any harm to the system.

Love doing this with friends when I have the opportunity; it's fun and it reconnects us and creates a strong bond. It's not a serious kind of betting, and whoever wins the bet, all of you will be happy.

I won and lost doing this with friends, and it never hurt my pocket to know it would go toward our drinks and that we would all have fun while discussing the game, our jobs, and our views on many issues. It's great to create camaraderie with your close friends.

Pretty much a way to enjoy that bet whether it's win or loss, we will still get to drink which seems the goal. :D

It's been a very long time since I made a friendly bet and to be honest those friends are moved to different places from where I am living and now things are just stuck with chats and sometimes a call other than that, the betting is not involved in the friendship for years now.

Usually it's not loser that's buying rounds, but loser who needs to drink, and if it's a skill game we are playing (other then sports betting), someone who have lost at the start keeps losing, as they get more and more drunk.

Personally i don't understand the appeal of loser buying drinks for everyone, as that can get costly fast depending on the group size and where you live. And when i am drunk i am not doing wisest financial decisions anyway, so i could easily top my budget and didn't even remember what happened next day. Beer and gambling doesn't suit me.

If no one among your friends win the bet then no body is entitled to get the pay because none of you won. This is just a simple bet, so times it might not be something related to sport, maybe just a little discussion that leads to some simple arguments like that is red while the other person say it green but at the end when you both and it's red the person who said is green get to pay the other person. But if in any case whereby none of you guess the correct color no body will be paying anyone because none of you guess the correct color.

That's right. Such betting is harmless. I've done it multiple times. Sometimes when we watched a game with friends we'd bet together and if we won we'd buy food and drinks with the money, or we'd bet for fun and the looser would have to pay for food that evening :D

Why do I call it harmless betting? Because the money is so low you won't ever feel a loss, sometimes you can make it so that when you win all of you get to enjoy it.

Although I have also had this type of bet with my siblings and the loser owes the winner something, it could be doing the dishes, laundry, a new cloth or sponsor the person transport to where ever the winner wants to go.

You can always bet on matches where there cannot be a draw and they go into penalty kicks, or just bet on other sports like the UFC where these things almost never happen and there just has to be a winner.

Yeah that's the best kind of bets on my opinion.

Even better when you play the sports yourself. You let's say play a 1 Vs 1 on a basketball court or match each other in a small race of running and bet that whoever wins buys the other's drink or meal.

It's a very social way to stay more competitive and have some fun while also being athletic.

Yeah, these are friendly bets and this is common in our country. If someone has to lose, they're the ones that's going to treat us. In a circle of friends, this is done just to have fun and when the others can't afford to buy any beer or any beverage and food that we want to share it. It's also a way to share with others that we pretty much love the most. And these people are the ones that we want to be with and so, we do this and if they agree that they're part of it, it saves us from spending. Pockets are not going to drain with this kind of bet and yet, you will have fun.

I also sometimes do things like this when I'm hanging out with some friends and watching a game, there's always the same situation even though I prefer to bet on food where the loser treats the winner.
But the situation is not much different from this and indeed this is actually gambling but I see this more as something healthier and indeed regardless of losing and winning we still feel pleasure.

Sometimes this situation also makes us more familiar and a little forget about gambling on online sites because we already feel that this is a gamble but it is indeed in a friendlier way than betting in casinos :D

Lol when we were younger and in school, we were so competitive and we fought for the pettiest things ever this is why it’s better to do this kind of betting with friends when we are mature enough to not escalate things for the worse.

if neither him or his friend win of course thier will be no drink for the day since non of them were able to predict correctly the rules is whoever that win will buy a bottle of beer maybe if they are three in numbers the other can decide to go for draw but this option is almost the hardest among all the options because it doesn't happen more often but they wouldn't mind choosing that option since they are sure that thier money will not go in vain. You know if gambling will work like this I'm sure that no one will ever regret being into gambling in any day because the excitement is way too much.

To be honest, one can bet in easy solutions, such as food together, in order to have fun together without making serious bets. Although it remains a gambling activity, the community and fun are the center of interest and not money. Such situation is more healthier since serious gambling habits are discouraged. Unless it makes one addicted, it can be a refreshing activity to have fun with friends as long as the intention behind the activity is purely fun.

I think what you are betting is something you can afford to lose, and that is why you call it a "small bet", the actual amount of a small bet depends on one perspective, but whatever it is, anyone who bets that way is willing to lose it. I think that is the essence of gambling, we have to know our limits, the goal is entertainment, not to over-expect wins and not to over-think losses, and I think what you are doing can be applied to the gambling we do in casinos. Personally, I used to do it a lot with my friends, but now we are all busy with our own things.

haha yeah that’s a classic! We do that too sometimes it’s beer sometimes it’s a round of street food or even milk tea if we’re chilling somewhere else. The fun part is the trash talk before and after the game then everyone still ends up laughing and drinking together anyway. Win or lose is still enough cause it’s all about the good vibes with friends.

I've certainly done this with my friends, and the highest-level bet I've made with friends is on a property we both own, and we agree on different properties, so the loser gives the winner the property they desire.

This kind of friendship is unfortunately, not the one that I have. I guess this is one of the disadvantages of being an introvert and at the same time, not into gambling that much.

Anyway, I've experienced this once when me any my cousin tried to put a bet on a team that will win the title in the 2022 NBA Finals. I went for the Warriors since it's my team, and he picked the Celtics. We know who won on that one, but we didn't drink beer at that time but instead, we just had some snacks in a nearby restaurant. After that, I haven't experience this kind of "friendly bets" anymore.

I wonder when will be the next one. :D

Wow, that's great news because not every time that a gambler expects to win. Sometimes doing something like that can bring more fun and entertainment, because instead of betting on a team that you're not sure about, it's better to bet with your friends and enjoy some beer together without losing anything. Although I haven't done it before, I think it's worth trying since it involves having fun with your friends.

We have done this so many times and although not directly related to gambling it can be called gambling. Some of my colleagues really like to play billiard and they use this who loses pays the games and the beers. Someday they didn't have a person to be playing with and they called someone who was not a part of their group who played with them. He told them that I don't know to play billiard well and that you are just losing time with me. The group answered maybe you don't know how to play but we are sure you know how to play as we are missing the dude that pays here, a lot of laugh happened and all the office laughed when they learned such thing.

I remember back in high school when my classmates and I would play basketball and make a small bet that the loser would have to buy soft drinks and snacks that is,
the wager was just food and drinks.

Even when we lost, everyone was still happy because it was genuine bonding that happened during those times, which could be called healthy gambling since no large amount
of money was at stake. It’s nostalgic to think about those teenage years.

Last time I did that with my friends. I am winning with some friends and two of my friends lost on that bet. So he needs to buy all of the winners snacks and drinks ;D

Not much for him because he comes from a middle-class family but that means something for some friends. We enjoy that moment and some of them say that we need to do this again ;D

I know that I don't have much luck so I just say that I will consider that. But I also say that I can not buy you many things and only cheap snacks and drinks ;D

It use to be fun and a nice way to entertain ourselves during the weekends. If you have lovely friends that are gamblers, you guys wouldn't miss this fun because it's one in a million whereby, both losers and winners are happy.

Your post is a reflection of how different all of us are. In the topic alcohol and gambling people discuss that it a very dangerous combination, because by separate each can bring lots of troubles, but a mix is deadly. And you combine alcohol and gambling to get even more fun out of those two. That is incredible how bad for someone is good for other person. I have also noticed how a lot of people prefer to gamble individually, because money can spoil friendship, while others prefer to do it together to maximize fun.

This is the kind of gambling that everyone needs to benefit from. I think this kind of gambling is just about fun, and there is nothing like being sad and regretting it for the loser.

I think in games like this, there is not much expectation of a particular outcome because you already have in mind that the outcome can be anything, and in the end, it will be something that puts a smile on your face by the end of the day. I call this healthy gambling, which is very encouraging for anyone to partake in because it will definitely relieve daily stress in one's life.

We used to do that sometimes when we were younger and still not committed or with responsibilities. Those were the times when we used to hang out all the time, spending as much time together as possible without any worries or any major responsibilities like a family, kids, etc. We used to play games, such as pool or foosball, and bet on the games on such games. We used to play in teams, like 2 players each, and do a challenge that any team that loses will give a treat to everyone in the gang, and then we used to play.

This used to give the games another excitement; we would laugh, mock each other, make fun of each other in the game, get serious sometimes, but still enjoy every moment, and then we would forget everything we did the other day and start fresh. Those were amazing times, and I still miss every single thing today. Even though we didn't use to have that much money, but we would still have the best time, and now we might have everything, but we don't have that company anymore.

Yeah, friendly bets like that make the game more fun, small stakes, big laughs. It keeps the spirit light and doesn’t push anyone into real losses. Sometimes that kind of wager even teaches better bankroll discipline.

I understand, that way it's good to do it to pass the time and have a different kind of expectation , but I would say that when these kinds of bets are made it's to have fun without looking for money, it's something I do like, but Obviously it should be done with Someone you trust a lot.

Do you guys usually stick to beers, or does it sometimes get riskier with higher stakes?

I still often do it with my friends. In the village, there are still frequent football tournaments between students or amateur volleyball tournaments. Moments like that are enjoyable for us to make bets, whether on drinks or cigarettes. But with such bets, it doesn't matter who wins or loses, everyone still has fun. Bets with no real pressure are truly enjoyable.

If your bet is made just for fun and good vibes, such a game will bring a lot of emotions and memories, it doesn’t really matter who wins or loses. My friends and I used to make this kind of bet quite often, and the outcome was always the same, lots of laughter and good times. Now we see each other less often, and the circumstances don’t always allow us to spend time like that, but those fun memories still warm the heart.

That's what we usually do with the boys, a healthy and fair gamble, I think, because whoever wins benefits everyone, it's quite exciting, especially in El Clasico matches, usually the bets aren't just about beer, but also food and pride, of course, and whoever loses is usually booed and laughed at, but in the end, everyone enjoys it.
That's why I say that even a small bet like that can provide meaningful entertainment, there's no need to go crazy just to find entertainment from betting.

Those are gamblers that really understands gambling as a game and for fun, he does not believe that gambling should be for money but for recreation in other to relax your worn out tissues and be refreshed, your friends aim of gambling is for fun and nothing else and that is why when he loses or wins he his always happy and drink the more, this kind of relationship is a healthy one amongst gamblers and should be encouraged, or do we say it is the unity of beers .

This is also a bet, but when there is a direct financial change, there is more excitement in that bet. If someone loses after placing a bet with friends, there will be no excitement in losing, and if someone wins, there will be no excitement either. I have also participated in such bets with friends, but there is a huge difference between those bets and placing a bet for money in any gambling platform. These bets with friends are generally considered as fun, and there is no pressure if you lose because even if you lose, that person gets the equal advantages to winning.

Making bets with your friends is an exciting experience, this is particularly when you are making bets as a group of people and backing your favourite group. But in the event that you take bet on property, it may cause severe problems. We must understand when pleasure becomes ethic less choices. When it comes to a fun bet, there is no harm and as long as the bet does not concern something big. Actually, we need to draw lines whereby betting will not disrupt the personal and financial relationship that we have established with the people who are closest to us.

Ultimately, I find this more fun than directly betting for money. I've done it, and it's priceless. It's mostly about sharing with friends; it's not about the bet itself, it's about laughs, challenges, and a bit of healthy rivalry. Because after all, we're in those places with friends with the intention of having a good time and spending some money on it, so it's not about winning or spending less, it's about enjoying the moment. This is more common than it seems; many people have adopted this behavior almost as if it were part of their lives in some countries.

I guess that we did this with our peers, most of us did. With any game this can be done, soccer, basketball, boxing, esports, tennis and for all every sport that we're a fan of. This can exactly be done with any other drinks as well, this is more fun because the money that's involved is in the form of complementary drinks or any type of alcoholic beverage that your peers like to have. It's just going to hurt the pocket when you're more than 10 in the circle of your peers.

This is a fun part of gambling and it's used to be fun not because of you taking the responsibility to be a beer when you lose the bet but ability for you to be skillful when you gamble without allowing the surroundings to distract you from getting the kind of results you are looking for. Discipline need to be applicable for us to be independent on the result we are getting from gambling.

Done it a couple of times, most times it’s starts as a joke, we’d just argue about who’s going to win and if we have different opinions on the situation we’d then bet that whoever guesses it correctly would pay for the drinks or sometimes food.

It’s not something I do all the time but when I participate in it, it’s usually fun. If I’m to choose between that type of bet and that of bookies I think I’d prefer this one because of the liberty you have to say whatever you want and back it up with your reasons but then on the other hand you have bookies that gives you way more rewards that you’ll get by just betting on drinks.

Honestly, betting on a beer round is probably the best kind of gambling among friends. Betting for money can destroy friendships and should not be done unless you know how they are going to react to losing.

Friendly bets... Hmm... That area of betting could be researched more heavily. I wonder how deeply ingrained that is in us, as humans?

Having the right people behind you can really help shape your mind in what you could have been perceiving wrongly. I also sense some kind of discipline in friends' round-table gambling, but on the other hand, I also see competition, which is also not a bad thing. The more important thing about this type of gambling is that the true purpose of gambling is achieved, which is fun and entertainment.

This is quite common, especially in youth gatherings, where we often hang out together and watch sports. We often bet just to liven things up, but it's not about who wins or loses; it's more about having fun with friends, especially with friends we haven't seen in a while. And it's not always about football matches or other sports; even when we're together, even small things can be wagered on.

And when someone loses a bet, the punishment varies. Sometimes the loser has to buy everyone on the table, or, like in your story, the loser has to buy beer. But if they don't have the money, we don't force them. Sometimes, in exchange, the loser has to accept a challenge, such as having their head shaved, or something else funny.

What a crazy moment and I'll hope to try it with a friend, I am not a binge drinker though but similar thing would be done, maybe eating together, makes it more mature and healthy. I hate drinking too much, it's not good for me nor to my friend.

Do you guys go in a public place to have this fund or in a private confirement area?

This is the true meaning of gambling for fun, but most of the people don't do this. All they need is to win the bet and make money. Whether they win or lose, they don't get fulfilled and continue. The best part is they don't feel good in saying that they're gamblers, and for that reason they use the term "we're gambling for fun." What OP does is really a good way of gambling. Maybe next time for a case of beer they can go with some alternatives. It'll be even better.

You have made me flashback to my days in the university when I and my friends loving betting between ourselves and end up spending the money together irrespective of the winners.

It use to be fun and a nice way to entertain ourselves during the weekends. If you have lovely friends that are gamblers, you guys wouldn't miss this fun because it's one in a million whereby, both losers and winners are happy.

Gambling with fellow gamblers is truly the most exciting & enjoyable experience, as there's no pressure or fear when gambling with friends or buddies. It's been a long time since I've experienced gambling with my friends or buddies due to our busy schedules. I miss remembering the moments of gambling with friends or buddies because in the end, the results of whoever wins can be enjoyed together & filled with true happiness that can be felt together.

Lol, the whole thing, when we go to play soccer it's like this, whoever loses buys the case , here the case has 36 beers and we all drink, it's really very exciting because you feel like you're playing in a super championship where everything is televised, you play your best and the tiredness goes away, there's only the rivalry, it's really something unique.

This sounds funny honestly to me, because at this, the loser is the sponsor that determine to buy beer for others, sounds ridiculous anyway, but it's actually possible and such situation happens occasionally, but the most common one is when they made it to win, I actually see beer as something most people like giving for free, even if they can't afford to offer you the money, you can take the beer on their behalf.

Actually to me it's not ridiculous because this same thing happens when you are betting on gambling platforms. Although it must not be the fact that you are buying anything for someone but looking at it on the other hand you are giving out your money to the casino whenever you lose. But betting with your friends on this way, even though you lose the bet you still have the chance to drink with your friends when you lose

This type of betting can be called live betting because it's done while we're watching an event and waiting to see the outcome. This is mostly done by friends, perhaps just for fun, like in a soccer match where each side picks a favorite team. I agree this is just for fun, especially since the goal is for the loser to buy a drink or food.

Since both parties ultimately enjoy the drink or food, it's safe to say no one is harmed, as the outcome is shared. However, sometimes there are annoying situations, such as people not keeping their promises. Perhaps you've experienced this.

That kind of bet is really interesting and healthy to engage in. I have seen couples of friends do this, it's another kind of gambling with vibe. What I noticed about the game is it's always fun when there's something to gain at the end. I mean, the expectations make it more fun. It's a harmless way of gambling, and even with your loss, you find happiness. At least there are still people who gamble for fun, it's not the only angle where people gamble to make a living. Gambling should be a game of fun, like the major reason, and I believe lots of people still achieve that fun.

The problem here is that gambling is an entertaining activity when it is done with a purpose of fun and with no hope of making huge wins. The performance may remain desirable even when one loses, due to low expectations and lax attitude of attaining the desired outcome. Nonetheless, the balance is paramount, and in the situation when individuals start regarding it as one of the significant sources of entertainment or income, they may experience the growth of emotional and financial danger. Gambling should be enjoyed, and not harmful, and this is possible by maintaining limits of gambling as healthy.

It’s a very healthy way to take bets and as simple as it sounds, this is likely the means by which gambling came into existence. While taking a beer with friends, anyone could pay and we do this often. Taking a bet on it doesn’t make much difference but, at least all gets to go home happy after having a beer and enjoying the games.
It doesn’t yield any monetary profit though but, should you win, it raises your confidence in predictions.

On the other hand, when someone wins a bet, they'll treat the loser to something to cheer them up. This is just a small example of how some of us make betting more exciting. Especially when watching football together, we're usually divided into two camps: the loser is usually sent shopping, and the winner is the king who can arrange everything as he pleases. lol ;D

In this world there are many ways to have fun and make the atmosphere of hanging out more lively - it could be by betting, it could be by doing other things. Whoever loses the bet has to pay or treat everyone - that happened to me once, but it was a long time ago. The point is - happiness is simple, sometimes a cigarette for everyone is also happy.

You know - betting on what color car will be next on the street is one of the most fun things you can have when you're hanging out. Has anyone here tried it? LOL

That kind of gambling is really interesting,it shows happy gamblers happy ending. The goal here is to be happy, chill and bond with their friends.Friendly bets are very heartwarming, pretty harmless and shows healthy gambling too. So,the goal here is intentions, balance and control. If it’s about shared laughter it’s fine,if it starts being about the reverse motives, then it’s worth stepping back.

I have come across of group of people playing such a game you quoted above, in that game they are all friends but they argued on a particular match and they agreed that the loser side will buy a create of beer why the wining side will only enjoy the drink with them, so when the game ended the group that lost bought a drink cartons and they joyfully drink with happiness, what I mean is that, if it's an agreement that the losing side will buy drink, neither the wining side won big amount of money or not, it doesn't concerns the losers because it's an agreement between the game started

This kind of situation often occurs among friends. I had a bet with some friends where if you win, you don't have to give any kind of treat, but if you lose, you will pay the full amount of the treat. There is a good reason for making such bets. When we make such bets, everyone is afraid of losing and the game carries a lot of excitement. But the good thing is that no one regrets even if they lose. There is so much joy in this type of betting with friends that you can't get by betting with money.

I have certain friends and colleagues I engage with this particular type of gambling time as it's strictly a fun covered timeout. It's not what is to be done with just any set of random acquaintance as it's not gambling that's driven by profit making but for bonding and sharing of special moments with one another. Not every person can be open minded to tag along even if they have to be the losers who's to continue paying for the drinks or whatever stuff as many times as they lose.
