When you have a rogue regime in Washington that is attacking literally everyone, that means everyone is going to first de-Americanize (that includes de-dollarization) then seek an alternative; and what's better than a powerful bloc like BRICS with 3 superpowers in it already 8)

Here in Venezuela everyone used the USA dollar, all prices are tagged in dollars and can be paid both in cash USD or using our currency (equivalent price in USD).
Here nobody cares about the Chinese yuan or the Russian Ruble, so it would be foolish to believe there is a de-dollarization going on here, it is completely the contrary.

From poor selling slices of cake to survive, to ice cream stores and movie theaters, all of them tag their products and services in Dollars, and that is not going to change soon.
I mean, even the government sell their gasoline in gas stations for dollars.

Anyone telling you this place is moving away from the USD is laying to your face, as simple as that.

I love your post and your frank words about how he United States is helping Venezuela and Cuba to join BRICS.
Many countries the US had fought against have turned to BRICS for support so that the US and other Western countries do not use their influence to crumble the economy of these countries. Trump could be indirectly helping BRICS to grow stronger and bigger than NATO in coming years with the way he had been flexing excessive power to punish countries that do not support his authoritarian regime.

The Chinese and Russian government have their own international payment system that have been used to bypass the world most used SWIFT payment system. The Cross-border Interbank Payment System known as the CIPS that is developed by China and backed by many countries due to the vast trades China has with almost all the countries of the world, this has enabled China and BRICS to create their own constitution and payment system that will dump the USD reducing it impacts and making each countries to trade together without the need to use USD. This will enable them to bypass international sanctions on BRICS countries so it will no longer have serious effect on them.

BRICS is growing very fast and their will be more countries that will join them soon due to the hash tarrifs Trump is using to punish countries that go against his will. His anger on Venezuela will attract other vulnerable countries to join the BRICS which is going to affect the United States supremacy as a world power.

It is India and possibly Brazil, as they are the quartet that makes up BRICS.

They are indeed a powerful bloc as they account for more than 41% of global GDP or 50% PPP, hold more than 50% of global population and labor, 60% of industrial output, 45% of global minerals, 55% of nuclear weapons and finally 63% of technological patents.

It can be said that they are a real counterweight to G7 or NATO at the present time and it will not be too difficult to surpass in the future when most of the world wants to join and support them instead of G7 and NATO.

Most of you are over-estimating BRICS, honestly.
A year ago people talked continuously about an hypothetical currency being issued by BRICS and how it was going to take down Dollar off supremacy, that never happened and the United States dollar continue to be the most important currency around the world, being used even in countries which are against the USA.
I will continue to believe BRICS is just hot air and useless until I see they mint their own currency or their own infrastructure to push payments around the globe, in order to replace SWIFT. Since none of that has happened, BRICS continues to be a nothing burger.

Trump clearly has not learned any history lessons about how while he can indeed help line the pockets of oil executives by conquering Venezula, he will actually be known as a bad president just like Bush was. It seems like a plainly stupid decision just like his decision to throw the liberty caucus under the bus as a clearly anti-libertarian attack on his own party allies. We never have to worry about Trump becoming a king but its exceedingly obvious like most presidents he can violate the USA constitution and get away with it with impunity. The Democrats will impeach him for whatever nonsense people have all forgotten about because it made no sense, but they don't mention impeachment for a summary execution of dozens of people without a trial, boldly admitted by Trump himself? Trump has clearly taken a clear shift from anti-establishment to establishment, and his support by libertarians is essentially gone for that reason, so he will become quite unpopular until he apologizes to Rand and Massie and re-aligns himself with some moral values. I'm predicted a record low popularity figure as inflation continues to wear people's appreciation down for him.

Trump has to go to Asia where BRICS has got its most members to just settle some thing with China. While China doesn't have to go with these new allies that they have just for them to join. While he boasts that the meetings he made in the Asian countries are successful, this one has happened. As for looking for some news about it, did Brazil just vetoed this request of Venezuela?

Note one major thing. I am totally in favor of the American people. Americans simply have not understood how their Federal Government has betrayed them by manipulating Big Media the wrong way.

The best thing that Americans could do would be to recall essentially all their Congress people, and elect some honest ones.

The second thing they should do is recognize that all the laws in the US use the word 'person' when talking about people. But the legal definitions of the word 'person' refers to artificial entities and not to men and women, except when people agree that they are the 'person'.

Wow, Cuba and Venezuela joining BRICS. Both these countries is such powerful economics that now USA and Trump must be in panic that they're joining BRICS. These news is so irrelevant that's not even worth to discuss.

Yeah, so far it was only words and promises. I'm still waiting when they will become huge force that will end US dominance.

I am neutral here and all I care about is peace not conflict that could lead to severe war involving the BRICS nations and NATO.
It is too early for the world to experience another war again because the last war was devastating that took the lives of people that never initiated the ideas. Let's call for peace and not the drama we have been seeing with Trump and Venezuela president.

Do not forget that the United States has caused more harm/conflict than any country in the world and this has to stop.
There are so many wars that had been linked to the US but the world is not saying anything. The US will always be the first country to accuse others of bad leadership, embezzlement and corruption when they US has outgrown this level.

I choose to be neutral on this but frown at the bad energy coming from great nations from the West that are supposed to cancel any idea of conflict/war that will bring the whole world into a state of stagnation. We love peace and we should embrace it not by saying it but displaying the opposite.

Remember one thing. People don't do things that harm themselves or that have no benefit for them. War isn't good for anybody who is killed by it. So, why do people fight in wars? Because they are tricked by their leaders into thinking there is something good in it. The only other thing is when it is self-defense that they can see happening... like when they see an armed enemy coming over the hill a mile away.

The BRICS vs. Western banking is a rather peaceful war for the people who live in Western countries. They are tricked by the media so they don't see much of the fighting and death that it took the banking system to expand as it has around the world.

BRICS may be partly this way, too. But BRICS is a voluntary thing. It is competition for the Western banking system. Why would anyone want to compete with the Western banking system? Because that system is quietly taxing people who use it, gradually taking up ownership of the world. And most of the people don't even realize it.

One of the best ways out of the Western banking system is doing barter in Private Membership Associations in the US. BRICS might be helpful for PMA members to do things where barter can't seem to manage.

You are kinda out of luck, except if you live out in the woods where nobody bothers you, and raise your own vegetables and meat. If you are living in the big city, and using the banking system, you are part of the war without even knowing it.

Iran.
There is no other country with soft power as strong as Iran (every other "ism" is dead: communism, liberalism, globalism, ...) that also is technologically advanced and has vast amount of resources and infrastructure to match them. I was hoping you would mention Saudi Arabia. They have enough resources to sponsor or support any weapon, coup and provide fire-arms in case of conflict. Probably the richest in the Middle East, of Asia.
Iran on the other hand is very advanced, I can go for them as well. You have a good point.

I was talking about superpowers not powers. Although I still wouldn't count Arabia as a powerful nation either. As unofficial part of NATO they have some strength but that's about it.

al-Saud is just a family dictatorship that is more like usurper of Arabia that has even changed the name of the place to their family name. They lack legitimacy.
Their soft-power is Wahhabism (you've seen it in ISIS and al-Qaeda) and that doesn't really have regional followers let alone global for them to have anything to say on the global stage!
They also have no real infrastructure (industries, high tech or normal) and most important of all they have absolutely no independence. This family may be rich (but not as rich as you'd think), Arabia itself is definitely not rich though. All the money they earn by selling their oil goes back to US in a vicious circle. Have you seen how Trump refers to them? Cows to be milked! They basically sell oil to buy weapons from US and then give those weapons back to US or use it for the US.
That's more like a proxy is not a superpower.

It could be BRICS is slowly turning into something different than what it used to be originally, now it seems membership has more to do with ideology and anti-Americanism, rather than creating an actual block of emergent economies for the sake of free trade and improvement of the living standard of their people.
If BRICS was a serious economical and trade organization, the founding members would demand people interested in joining to have a minimum Gross income and a minimum of technological advances in order to get in.
It is not the case, economies like Venezuela and Cuba will just be an anchor for actual giants like China and India.

honestly i don't konw why Donald Trump refuse to understand that the more the U.S tries to pressure or isolate countries the more those nations look for alliances elsewhere BRICS is becoming that alternative voice for countries that don’t want to depend on Western systems anymore!! Because they are arrogant and have no respect for the rest of the world. They think that because they are a superpower and have dominated the world for over 100 years, and no one dares to challenge, confront or threaten their position. But they forget, they have the position they have today because the world has respected and trusted them. The world once trusted in the leadership of the US and hoped it would create a fair, peaceful and prosperous world. But now, the monopoly, bullying, intimidation and willingness to attack anyone who opposes them.
The world that has the power to lift them to the highest position can also pull them down from a position they no longer deserve.

BRICS was born a bit late, but fortunately, most of the world finally realized wickedness of the US and dared to stand up and protest.

BRICS has less to do with Washington, and more to do with bypassing sanctions. Otherwise they might as well prefer any other currency to USD.

I don't believe for a moment, that group of regions that are afraid of sanctions would be somehow willing to commit to rules amongst themselves, or be transparent when they are literally being rejected from everywhere else because of their opacity and rule breaking.

If the West can't formally get into BRICS, they are trying to get in through sanctions. China and Russia and all the rest of the non-West countries have been gigantic and strong for thousands of years. It's the manipulation of the peoples of the world by their government controlled media that doesn't reveal this to the humble people of the world.

The non-West doesn't really need the West, just like the West doesn't really need the non-West. And both of them are not really united enough within themselves to need themselves.

The whole thing is an attempt, behind the scenes, by the super rich to take over the world, like it always has been, at least since communications and transportation have become what they are.

Actually, there is a very strong dependence of the west of cheap labor, so the United States and the European Union continue to have access to cheap products and services, of not for the cheap labor of Asia, then most of products which people from the West get would skyrocket in prices, that is fact, there is a good reason for companies to manufacture all their products in China, India, Taiwan and so on. Even if leaders from the west wanted to move those production lines to the United States or Europe that would imply to self-inflict a very strong inflation on their own societies.

So there is actually dependence on the East, at the same time the East needs money to continue to come from the West.

That dependence is a false dependence. Quantities of certain raw materials may be found at other places than the US. But the US has within itself enough of these materials that the US doesn't need these other countries.

The thing that the US needs is to stop depending on these other countries. But big business isn't set up to move out of those countries. So, they are fighting US independence.

This goes into the tariffs. The tariffs are a good idea. But they are only half the story. The other half is regulations and incentives in the US for average citizens to start manufacturing the things they get from other countries, right in their garages or back yards.

If regulations had a stair-step increase depending on the size of the company, and if the little guy working out of his garage had special incentives to get his business going, PLUS government advertising of the availability of those incentives, people all over America would be starting their own businesses, and manufacturing anything Americans need.

It's a money problem. Big business has enough money to bribe Congress to not ease up on the regs for the little guy. Trump did his part with the tariffs. Now Congress needs to make it easy for the little manufacturer to get going.

If things were done like this, America wouldn't need anything from anywhere else. And other countries wouldn't need anything from America if the other countries did it like this as well.
