It seems odd someone of that age would have a constant flux of money to place bets in different gambling games in a frequent basis. For me, cases of that nature don't sound an extreme issue. Parents just need to cut the income they provide to their children, besides punishing them accordingly, while educating them regards gambling's consequences. If the teenager still want to engage on disfunctional behavior after that, I guess he is by himself and will inevitably have to face the consequences of his decisions, without holding parents accountable in anyways. Absolutely, but nowadays it's very hard to control teenagers because they believe that they can take care of themselves both financially and others areas of their lives and with the way the world is now, teenagers are no longer thinking about the future, their education etc. All they think about now is just how to make money, even when you are trying to caution them or advice them that the world isn't the way they are seeing it yet they won't adhere to it rather they will do what it's in their mind. So just as you have stated earlier, since they have been caution yet they still went ahead to do anything either illegal works just to get funds to satisfy their urge for gambling, whatever bad results that comes out they will be the one to pay for their consequences and not to hold their parents for their actions. It needs different approachment to getting close to them. They will curious to many things so we must teach them what they can do and don't. We should cautious if they are doing something strange and try to communicate with them.
If they don't feel comfortable staying at home, that is a big question and needs to communicate. But we must talk to them as individuals and not as parents because sometimes they are hard to accept it. They want someone who can be close to them as a person and not as their parents. We don't have to get mad if we know they gamble but we can talk to them about why they gamble. We can explain the risks and the danger of gambling. If we can tell them carefully and always be close to them, they will understand that we care to them. It cause reckless spending lifestyle 3. Lost of focus 4. Unstable and less relevance to family 5. Mental imbalance and lots more 1. It can leads to drug addiction - Gambling is different from drugs, But an addicted kid in gambling can do everything to get money just to sustain the addiction which he or she can sell drugs to make money but not to use drugs. 2. It cause reckless spending lifestyle -If they win then they can buy anything they want. anything they need. but this is not for a long time as winning is not everyday. 3. Lost of focus - lost of focus in life as more of hteir hours will spend in playing, they are focus on winning. 4. Unstable and less relevance to family - If the time will all spend in gambling then yes! this is the most possible among all. This depends on how addicted is one person. 5. Mental imbalance and lots more - we are focus on winning and winning, losing focus in other part of life. But there are some people very few, Who are into casinos and gambling more often but can handle life. those are people who can sustain their habit. It can leads to drug addiction That is a bit of a stretch. It would take a whole lot of bad influence around the kid for him to end up addicted to drugs. I don’t think gambling leads to drugs necessarily. Unless he has friends he has met during gambling that introduced him to drugs. But it’s not a direct correlation. It makes more sense if he was addicted to drugs THEN got addicted in gambling in that order. Because being addicted to drugs destroys your brain and the need to buy more drugs may lead you to risky money making activities like gambling. Drugs and gambling are two different addictive vices, but it doesn't mean when you do one of these, it will be automatic you'll get hooked up with both. However, gambling indeed will have some negative effects to the teens if they're not being guided properly. I think sports betting could just be the right gambling for them at this stage of their lives, since it involves sports as well. It's the safest way of gambling for them that I could think of. Title: Re: Effects of gambling on teenagers and the mental status Post by: lovesmayfamilis on November 16, 2025, 05:25:59 AM All five points are true. One thing is clear: gambling is simply dangerous for teenagers with their fragile psyches. It's quite difficult these days to keep track of all their interests, as the internet offers not only good opportunities but also things that can have a detrimental effect on our children. It's imperative to monitor your children, build a trusting relationship with them, and, as a result, explain all the consequences that gambling can lead to.

I didn't actually start with large amounts of Money, my parents used to give us small money every market day, we have a local market then, I proceed to selling drinking water to marketers, from there I begin to involve in packaging garri bags for foreign business men who came to our market to buy, that's I started to locate corners when guys do play games and betting money 💰 for real, I thought that's lesser stress than my normal hustle, and that's how I gets to involve Title: Re: Effects of gambling on teenagers and the mental status Post by: ZeroVinsonN on November 16, 2025, 05:33:35 AM Gambling is so effective to extend of one living the lifestyle I remember as a young child I started Gambling at early 13th where I could do anything to keep meeting my desires for Gambling, my parents do all them can to stop me from going to play game of money but they couldn't stop me because i was addicted to it already and is so weird this days seeing little children engaging in Gambling like sporting belt, WHOT, dice and lotto. Our teenager's today can not exercise patience to schooled through quality education process and becoming a better citizens rather they engage in Gambling and live a lifestyle of fraud and gaming. Why would a 13 years old child be gambling in the first place, this is why better parenting should be encouraged to prevent children from engaging in such activities, their is an age range for gambling and when people who are below this range start gambling the end point id never good, it's hard enough for adults to control their gambling impulses so it's expected for it to be even harder for a child to do so, hopefully you got out of your addiction because for children/teenagers who get addicted early the side effects are usually grave. How Gambling affects teenager's 1. Yeah you're right, though most of us experience life the hard way because where we grow any child can start bad life if there's no watch or guides on your children and which most children have nobody to help mode your characters and proper directions, me personally I grow up seeing myself doing things on my own because our parents cannot afford our education and that's how I chose or know gambling earlier because we live street life. Title: Re: Effects of gambling on teenagers and the mental status Post by: Kelward on November 16, 2025, 05:47:49 AM In my early teens I gambled ones and the regret of losing money that I was meant to use for something important was lost, I never went near gambling till I became an adult. I was lucky that I was able to caution myself and flee but a lot of teens would get hooked and continue to chase loses till they become addicted. Children and teenagers brains are not yet natured enough to handle responsibilities, they can make instinctive decisions that can be destructive to them. The best solution to minimize teenage gambling is to educate them about the dangers, most of them are still under the care of parents and guidance, they don't have any business in gambling.

There are few strange thing in your stories, so I don't believe it.
Usually teenagers fall to gambling because when they are still young, the parents ask them to work. This will make the teenagers understand if having money will make them able to buy anything they want. The situation getting worse if the parents can't fulfill everything what asked by their kids. So if you have a baby, make sure to fulfill everything. It can leads to drug addiction You actually brought up a serious issue with gambling and teenagers and it is something that can really mess with their heads and lives if it is not properly managed by someone of better experience in gambling. Your point about drug addiction is a dark path that can happen when gambling get out of control especially at that foul age. I agree that compulsive gambling or gamblers usually focus on betting to chase money and not spending on drugs but just thinking in your own direction that just making a big win can lead to reckless spending and behavior especially that they are teenagers who get easily influenced by peers or in the case of losing big that can push them to drugs in trying to escape the sadness and depression with substance. So either ways, gambling for a teenager is something that is of great concern because their brains are still developing and that can make them chase quick happiness without thinking long term. Gambling can mess with their mental health, bring stress, anxiety and even depression in worse cases particularly when they gamble with money they cannot afford to lose like in the case of students that use their school fees to gambling and can't go back to their parents to get the money back. I have heard severally where students have been withdrawn from school because they used their school fees to play bet and struggled to meet up with deadlines. |
