Title: Could Bitcoin change my life, or will it mainly change when I reach middle age? Post by: pr0phecy on November 16, 2025, 01:31:01 PM TL;DR: I don’t want to give up on the idea that BTC might still improve my life one day, but maybe it will mainly benefit my future kids, or only make a real difference for me around in my 40s-50s. I'm curious how do you see this.
Hi everyone, First and foremost, this post isn't meant to be venting. It’s also not about losing faith in Bitcoin or wanting to escape work. I’m in my early 30s and have around $2,000 saved in Bitcoin. I first heard about crypto and Bitcoin a few years ago, and of course I made the “classic beginner mistakes”: I joined flashy MLM-style projects that eventually collapsed and lost some money. The only thing I managed to avoid was the memecoins hype. Based on my income, in the best-case scenario I can set aside around $100 per month for investing. Sometimes it feels very little, but I’m grateful that I can save anything at all. To be honest, part of me hoped that crypto or Bitcoin could eventually be the kind of investment that might whether gradually or suddenly, give me a significant step forward in life someday. Something like being able to afford a stable home where I could safely start a family, or make a major life improvement. But one question keeps coming back to me recently: what if my current circumstances simply aren’t enough for that? Maybe what feels like small steps now could become meaningful value over a very long period (15–20 years) and could help my future children (if I will have the opportunity to become a father) more than me, or it will only make a big difference for me when I reach my 40s or 50s. But at the same time, I still consider myself relatively young, and I don’t want to give up on the idea that my own life could also become much better one day thanks to Bitcoin. Obviously, I don't expect salvation from Bitcoin alone, because I don't want to be the kind of person who just sits around all day doing nothing useful, not working, etc. I’m genuinely just curious: is anyone else in a similar situation? Or was? How do you approach Bitcoin from this position? What mindset makes sense for someone who earns modestly and builds slowly but consistently? I appreciate you taking the time to read this, and I look forward to hearing your perspectives. Thanks! Title: Re: Could Bitcoin change my life, or will it mainly change when I reach middle age? Post by: Don Pedro Dinero on November 16, 2025, 02:33:55 PM But apart from those $2,000 in bitcoin that you have and what you could save and invest, do you have an emergency fund? Do you have a stable job? For your investment in bitcoin to become significant and enable you to build generational wealth, you will need a lot of time. That is why it is better not to blindly put all your faith in bitcoin, but rather to have an emergency fund first, and then try to increase your income and/or diversify your income.
Using https://dcabtc.com/ I see that, according to what's happened the last 8 years, if you had invested $100 monthly you would have $40,000 today. So good but not life changing money. Post by: Son Of Blockchain (SOB) on November 16, 2025, 02:58:43 PM Saving $2k in Bitcoin is not a bad idea and depending on how long you can hodl it, there's a great possibility that your 2k can change your life being stored in Bitcoin overtime, that's a fact that's proven and early holders of the coin can testify to that well too bad I can't relate with most of them since I didn't get into Bitcoin earlier but history has proven that to me.
There's no harm in adding more to that $2k in your portfolio and everything Don Pedro Dinero asked is fact so you should ensure you have them infact to make your Hodling journey smooth, you made the right choice of investing in Bitcoin anyways, goodluck with holding. bitcoin is something that embrace many arguments if you look broadly. You are not a young man, you can understand clearly that a new monetary system created by no governement continue to gain daily more trust and trust... It's still something really simple to use. DeFi, CeFi, Cold Wallets for storage, multi signatures.... just to mentions some of advantages you can access freely without paying anything... With the original idea that this should be used as money p2p with no censorship and privately... I would say that you have at least at "parachute"... Like what happens in 2014 in Cyprus... There are many of similar events that can happens. Bitcoin is the only resource that could probably save you or at least to help you to give an hedge. Title: Re: Could Bitcoin change my life, or will it mainly change when I reach middle age? Post by: Die_empty on November 16, 2025, 03:22:00 PM I’m genuinely just curious: is anyone else in a similar situation? Or was? The possibility of using your gains from accumulating $100 worth of Bitcoin per week to live a stable life in fifteen to twenty years will depend on certain factors. The price of Bitcoin at that period and the cost of living in your country will play a major role. The CEO of Ark Invest, Cathie Wood (https://finance.yahoo.com/news/heres-much-100-bitcoin-could-190038492.html), predicts that Bitcoin will get to $3.8 million in 2030. I also find this prediction massive, but if that happens $100 worth of Bitcoin might get to $3,914. You would be able to get a comfortable house and live your dream life if this prediction happens. How do you approach Bitcoin from this position? What mindset makes sense for someone who earns modestly and builds slowly but consistently? I appreciate you taking the time to read this, and I look forward to hearing your perspectives. Thanks! Bitcoin has shown over the years to be a reliable and profitable investment. If setting aside $100 for your Bitcoin DCA wouldn't affect your finances negatively, I will suggest you continue doing it. The amount might look small now but you would be surprise how much you might realise in a decade. Title: Re: Could Bitcoin change my life, or will it mainly change when I reach middle age? Post by: Rruchi man on November 16, 2025, 03:45:28 PM But one question keeps coming back to me recently: what if my current circumstances simply aren’t enough for that? I believe that the thoughts that you currently have are regular, normal thoughts that people who are investing consistently in bitcoins usually have; these are the sort of thoughts that, when set in the positive light, will keep you investing because of the hopes you have. There are certainly people who did not treat or handle these thoughts properly, and because of the uncertainty that such thoughts bring, it discouraged them from investing or investing with the same energy as they have been putting in. Maybe what feels like small steps now could become meaningful value over a very long period (15–20 years) and could help my future children (if I will have the opportunity to become a father) more than me, or it will only make a big difference for me when I reach my 40s or 50s. Or was? I think it is the right course of action to share such thoughts with a community like this, because you can actually get proper encouragement and the right motivation to continue doing what you are doing, instead of nursing such thoughts on your own. You will enjoy the benefits of your investment even sooner than you think. Title: Re: Could Bitcoin change my life, or will it mainly change when I reach middle age? Post by: Merit.s on November 16, 2025, 03:51:17 PM You can achieve your goal if only you can be consistent in buying bitcoin whenever, your $100 is available. A thousand miles start with a step. DCA might be slow but it's very effective and efficient in building your bitcoin portfolio overtime. You are in your early 30s and if you accumulate bitcoin with $100 monthly for 20 years, you will have a total of $24000 in bitcoin.
You ought to also create an emergency funds to backup your bitcoin investment so that you wouldn't sell your bitcoin when you are hit with real life emergency you should be active on this thread Buy the DIP, and Hodli (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5132720.msg66056193#msg66056193). But if you expect the significant change is like can afford to buy house, car and improve your lifestyle, I doubt it since you can't invest much. Title: Re: Could Bitcoin change my life, or will it mainly change when I reach middle age? Post by: ₿itcoin on November 16, 2025, 04:21:54 PM How do you approach Bitcoin from this position? What mindset makes sense for someone who earns modestly and builds slowly but consistently? Bitcoin you are saving can change your life, not only for your future children, but also for yourself. If you keep investing a little every month, it will actually bring you a lot of profit due to the growth potential of DCA & Bitcoin. Bitcoin has given good returns for a long time, so the opportunity is still there because we are still in the initial stage. If you keep your BTC in a cold wallet with you, you will be able to keep that money safe for the long term & you will also be free from the worry of selling it. You are still young, so there is a golden opportunity to run for BTC again. So I would say keep buying BTC non-stop from now on, Bitcoin is now being sold at a discount price at the end of the year, then you will reach a very strong position in the future. Your life may not change overnight, but the process you have started will bring you much bigger profits in the future. Something like being able to afford a stable home where I could safely start a family, or make a major life improvement. I think your scenario is actually very good for making monthly Bitcoin installments. What you need next is consistency, so you can reap the delicious rewards in the end, and that will be better than saving your income in fiat. Just a suggestion, you should consider the $100 you save per month as having the potential to multiply 5 to 10 times in the next 20 years, so you can imagine it becoming $1,000 (for every month you did), and I think that will motivate you even more to save Bitcoin. However, you are actually lucky to be able to do this, because many people want to save Bitcoin regularly like you, but many are unable to, or are still struggling to do so. So, I hope you can continue to do it.But one question keeps coming back to me recently: what if my current circumstances simply aren’t enough for that? Maybe what feels like small steps now could become meaningful value over a very long period (15–20 years) and could help my future children (if I will have the opportunity to become a father) more than me, or it will only make a big difference for me when I reach my 40s or 50s. Post by: obuoma on November 16, 2025, 04:43:12 PM Bitcoin can change the life of any investor that go about it the right way which is holding for long. If you invest in Bitcoin and expect it to blossom and change your life the next day, you will not be happy with the outcome because Bitcoin does not guaranty short-term profits. If you want to enjoy Bitcoin, consciously invest and hold for a decade or two then you will be proud of yourself for taking such decisive decision that would have transformed your then. Long-term wins the game of Bitcoin investing just like many other traditional investments.

Post by: Richbased on November 16, 2025, 04:54:01 PM If you have a stable job, i will advise you to continue with your DCA accumulation of $100 monthly because since you said you have $2000 in bitcoins it means that if you can continually maintain that $100 every month, in the next 15 to 20 years you will be having about $20000 to $26000, though it may be small but the most important thing is that it will be under your custody within those years and will be safe from inflation so you shouldn't be discouraged. However, i don't know how what the cost of housing is in your country and i don't also know where inflation will drive it to by that time but i will just urge you to take the step and sometimes if you have enough discretionary income you can consider increasing your DCA amount so that your portfolio will also increase. Just think of what the price of bitcoin might be in the next 15-20 years times then you will know that your investment will sure yield a great harvest.

My believe towards this subject of discussion is based on the intention of the bitcoiner and what their targets are. I don't think any of us are in the position to dictate how people use their investments or what they use it for. Some people started this bitcoin investment with a targeted price in mind, once they hit their target, they stop and they use the money they have invested to achieve their dreams, if there are extra profits and they wish to reinvest it. Great. But there is always this satisfaction that comes with hitting your investments target and withdrawing your investments to achieve your purpose. In the end, no body knows how long they are staying in this world, if after a decade of investment the person withdraws his investments and use the money to build his dream home, it is a great idea for me. Because they are able to make judicious use of the funds they've been saving all this while. Title: Re: Could Bitcoin change my life, or will it mainly change when I reach middle age? Post by: GigaBit on November 17, 2025, 09:45:44 AM Investors who invest in Bitcoin for the long term will benefit the most. If someone deposits $100 of their monthly income into Bitcoin, they can gradually build a large portfolio that can multiply their portfolio several times over in a few years. On the other hand, if someone invests in Bitcoin for the purpose of life savings or leaving wealth for their next generation, that can increase the returns even further. The main thought is that if someone increases the long-term holding of Bitcoin in any way, they will definitely benefit in the future.

Is it enough for you to be "able to afford a stable home" or "make a major life improvement"?
I believe Bitcoin would one day reach $1,000,000. Whether that happens in the next 10 years or 20 years, I'm not sure. So, you're right, don't "expect salvation from Bitcoin alone". You must already have a family before that million dollar Bitcoin becomes a reality. Try to look for more sources of income. But I'm sure your future children will be happy you're stacking Sats as early as now. Title: Re: Could Bitcoin change my life, or will it mainly change when I reach middle age? You will have $43.5K after 10 years, does it enough to buy house in your country?
However other asset price will increase too, not just Bitcoin, I think in 10 years the price would be double for real estates. So, you might only can afford $21.5K house with the present value. https://imgvb.com/images/2025/11/17/47c5975212ea952243468ff52cd7f287.png Title: Re: Could Bitcoin change my life, or will it mainly change when I reach middle age? What mindset makes sense for someone who earns modestly and builds slowly but consistently? Bitcoin does not change anyone's life unless each person is willing to take the approach to financial freedom that he chooses and maybe I have experience with this because I have never before seen an investment asset that can make me achieve the freedom I have now. I view bitcoin as an investment asset so it is possible to invest in the long term and it may be easier to achieve value based on the capital I use for the investment. If you want to build a sustainable investment and have limited budget, perhaps you could try the DCA strategy so that whatever money you have you can buy bitcoin regularly.I appreciate you taking the time to read this, and I look forward to hearing your perspectives. Talking about investing in Bitcoin must also be balanced because it is impossible for you to invest small amounts that are not regular or consistent will lead you to achieve financial freedom as expected because asset growth is very dependent on a person's ability to collect even though they may not have large capital to start with but buying consistently with the available methods can bring someone to gain asset growth slowly and steadily. Certainly, the return will depend one the investment. An investor who invests more for the purpose of long-term investment will benefit more. But there are some investors who are not interested in investing in Bitcoin, they are not willing to make small investments and cannot make large investments, for them I think it is better to hold Bitcoin in small amounts for the long term. Through this, even if an investor cannot buy at least one Bitcoin, if he can shorten half of the Bitcoin after a long time, I think that is a lot for him.Title: Re: Could Bitcoin change my life, or will it mainly change when I reach middle age? You calculated it as if he was saving in a stable coin. $100 for 20yrs is actually $24k, but remember that for 20 years, there will be about 5 bull runs according to the bitcoin cycle and these 4 cycles will definitely take bitcoin to more than 150% if I don't exaggerate. 150% of 24,000 is about 36,000 and then add the capital we have about $60k.You ought to also create an emergency funds to backup your bitcoin investment so that you wouldn't sell your bitcoin when you are hit with real life emergency you should be active on this thread Buy the DIP, and Hodli (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5132720.msg66056193#msg66056193). So, 20 years is a good number to make fortune in bitcoin only if he remains consistent and not give up. Being able to save his BTC for 20 years is another case to determine. Title: Re: Could Bitcoin change my life, or will it mainly change when I reach middle age? Post by: sunsilk on November 18, 2025, 07:57:41 PM I guess that many of us here are living for the next generation of our family and we want them to give a better life.
Don't forget to live your life brother and it's never too late to invest. You're even better than 99% who have no plans of how they'll acquire bitcoin even if they have enough salary. Stick to your plan and be consistent in doing your monthly accumulations. Whether it's $100, $50 or any amount, as long as you will continue doing that. I've done that for years and I can say that it's worth it when you're about to take profits, it sure is. Title: Re: Could Bitcoin change my life, or will it mainly change when I reach middle age? Post by: ovcijisir on November 18, 2025, 08:02:59 PM TL;DR: I don’t want to give up on the idea that BTC might still improve my life one day, but maybe it will mainly benefit my future kids, or only make a real difference for me around in my 40s-50s. I'm curious how do you see this. So first off the days of 100x ROI are gone, they were back in the early days but it still wasnt instant, you would have had to HODL for a few years. Secondly, you will need to have patience, there is no guaranteed way of being a millionaire! OK you could try the lottery, you might hit it big in a short space of time. Thirdly, if you decide that Bitcoin isnt going to benefit you quickly, what else is there? Nothing! - everything takes time. Look to the future, build yourself a plan from today. think of the Bitcoin 4 year cycle, you will likely be better off in approximately 3.5 years from now. Patience 100x days are gone, but regarding ROI Bitcoin performs much better than other assets. And to answer OP whatever you do I recommend you to avoid trading except you know what are you doing. I tell you that from my own experience, as I would probably have two times more crypto funds if I avoided trading and just holded it on cold wallet. Post by: Natalim on November 18, 2025, 08:10:07 PM It could certainly change your life if you consistently invest in bitcoin, and if the price keeps surging high and hit its new all time high. Investing in an immovable asset is useless, and bitcoin has not been stagnant so far, So along with faith, never stop investing as well, because if you can't benefit bitcoin in your old age, but your future kids will surely do.
Invest in bitcoin not for today but for the future, not your future, but your family's greener pasture. Title: Re: Could Bitcoin change my life, or will it mainly change when I reach middle age? Post by: SOKO-DEKE on November 18, 2025, 08:51:46 PM The point is that Bitcoin investment has changed many people’s lives, and there is still strong hope that it will continue to change more people’s lives, as it is a very good investment. But what I will tell you now is that holding only $2k for the time you target cannot give you as much profit as you may be thinking. So my advice to you now is that you shouldn’t stop investing and rely only on that $2k. Continue to accumulate more Bitcoin so that you can build a better portfolio. That way, even if the Bitcoin price does not increase as much as you expect, you may still be able to gather some funds for yourself. So the better thing to do now is to continue with your Bitcoin accumulation. And also, don’t forget about your emergency funds they are very important in Bitcoin investment, as you know. Emergency funds are for future purposes and unexpected problems that may arise later on. Having this emergency fund may help you avoid touching your Bitcoin investment when problems come up. |
