Though I am not actively using the app, but still KuCoin still decided to warn me about this type of scam. I know that many of us have also received similar alerts and for those that didn't well, here it is..... We need to be very careful coz this particular kind of scam isn't just peculiar to KuCoin user alone, it can happen to anyone whatsoever, both the wallet and even exchange users respectively. Truth is that, scammers are constantly looking way ways to trick crypto users.  That is why we have to be always prepared and always be vigilant in all of our crypto transactions be it trading, investment etcetera. Coz the responsibility to protect your funds lies in your hands.....For the new comers to the crypto space, always keep your eyes peeled out to confirm any message that is  claiming to be from one support team or the other. Only communicate with customer care services in their official channels or handles. Don't click anyhow links, or links that are without http:// or even give anybody not even your friend access to your wallets or whatever platform you use to trade or store your asset.

Honestly scammers tend to go extra mile to get away with people hard earned money. OP you’ve really done well in bringing up discussions like this. It is going to serve as a reminder to some  and also an eye opener for some. One thing you said that I really like and it’s just the truth about bitcoin is that “the safety of your assets lies in your hand”.
So you need to keep an open eyes. do let any mistake happen. What you do not understand please ask people that knw better than you and dont fall victim.

A link having http: do not give it a legit status of a site, making it necessary to regular be on the alert to very a link through it  official net, more still, chat with a customer care about what you are not sure of. It is better to act like a novice by asking than to act astute and fall into scammers trap. The safety of your asset rests much on how you surfing the internet and online platforms.

I totally agreed with you, we dey always complain say scammers dey do us something when we no won learn from our mistakes. As a person that has been into crypto should be able to know what one should do and shouldn't do in order to be safe from scammers, them dey always advice people to protect their assets at any cost and don't involve yourself in things you don't understand or have any idea about it or better still ask questions if you are so eager to be part of it or research about it.
And remember crypto is not something that one will start to benefit from immediately, it's takes process for it to be an achievement. So whatever adjustments that needs to be done in order to keep your assets safe in this crypto world, PLEASE DO IT.

I once had an issue with my account on KuCoin and it got frozen. I was able to create a ticket through their official website and went to their general group to also complain. It was a general group for Nigerians but I was amused by the number of people that replied to me immediately not to attend to anyone claiming to be a support group out of the official website I raised my concern on.

In that group, my complaint was helped to be escalated more by other users who may have been customer representatives from Nigerians communicating with their support group, that helped my issue to be resolved without taking too long. To my greatest surprise after complaining in that general group, I immediately started to receive direct DMs from unknown individuals claiming and showing blue tick on their accounts to impersonate the KuCoin customer support. Since I already received a warning message in that group, I already knew they were scammers and had to just ignore them.

Why would someone even reach out to an exchange support staff through social media messaging apps and platforms. Some people are just so non-challant about the security of their asset in this crypto space. As for me, i can never chat with any support team outside the exchange app or my email and which is why i also applied phishing codes to my email so that i can identify mails that comes from the exchange and the ones that come from scammers.

Just know that anything that involves social media platforms can be manipulated so you shouldn't pay attention to those who claim they are team from the exchange you use for transactions and another security measure is not to keep your coin in your exchange account so that in a situation where you suspect a fowl play, the damage won't be too much.

This kind of scam is quite common in this space . When scammers are impersonating the real deal just to scam novice and gullible users too , I actually post something related before about a friend falling as victim  of such scam , in twitter  . But the truth is that anyone can actually fall for such easily that's why we all have to be more careful. Because eachday they are getting smarter as we learn every day , so just like as the title state we have to be vigilant.

This is just the real truth. Anyone can fall for scam, not just the novice or lets say the beginners in the crypto space. Right on this same forum we all are, I have seen some threads whereby the op who have been on the forum for a long period of time (a legendary member) fall into scam. So we all must be vigilant, and also be updated to know about various ways scammers operates so that anytime we see one, we can easily identify.

Impersonation is a big game and massive tactics that people easily fall for. Most people who are not enlightened or sceptical about certain things are vulnerable to falling victim. Just because someone claims to represent an organization or service doesn't necessarily mean they actually represent them. Social engineering attacks are still very common, so it is expected of us to be very cautious, and maybe try as much to verify things properly.

And mind you, this tactics isn't restricted to crypto related matters alone. I want to believe that the majority of us in Nigeria must have received calls from scammers who are trying to impersonate one bank or the other. Let's be cautious.

I will always advise anybody who is surfing the internet to never click on random links which you do not know and we should also avoid people using our phones to access random links too or even touch your wallet. I will also say you should not share your seed phrase with anyone for the sake of emphasis even if they are your best friend. I have also heard about people who are complaining and lookin for rescue online after they had sent their crypto to a fake site which looked exactly like Binance or stake or other exchanges and platforms. This is what they call Phishing sites, they are created to look like a replica of the actual sites then use the same medium to dupe people of their assets.

I wonder how some people can be so nonchalant about their safety in the crypto space to the extent of messaging any of the exchange app on social media, or even how can you pay attention to any message from any one claiming to be a stuff in an exchange app? Even in our traditional banks people still receive message from this scammers claiming to be from your bank and they also ask for your details especially your personal PIN that bank stuffs are not supposed to know, it's funny how people fall victim to these cheap methods and the worst part is that even after hearing these scams stories everywhere people still fall for it every time. Scammers are fond of impersonation and we should always be on the lookout and also avoid clicks that has nothing to do with you especially the ones that comes with giveaways.

There are two reasons why they keep sending you emails. One is because they want to warn you of scam attempts and style. And also, they want to keep reminding you about the account you have with them and how you have been inactive.

Not at all, I didn't subscribe to their newsletter. Well all this may not be their way of reminding me of how inactive I am, but in all all this scams are still really and constantly happening to lot of folks out there and we all really need to constantly take extra precautions.

I have once encountered this similar thing in my Kucoin account, then I was having a challenge with my password verification and it happened that I was chatting with some people in my telegram page, and they were asking to know how much I have in my Kucoin account and at the same time, giving me an address to fund it before I can gain access to my Kucoin account, and they even requested for my phone number and were calling me to fund the account. But God so kind, I quickly come to my senses and stopped that interaction.

What am I explaining? Do not yield to anybody requesting for your account information on any social media platforms or wanting to solve any problem for you. Every exchange has their support center right in their own app and when you have any challenge in your account, communicate them via the app to avoid becoming their victim.

This topic is a very useful one and should not be taken for granted, because I myself almost became their victim but with this awareness created here, I believe no one in this very forum will fall to their scam.

You need to understand that not all of them are scams, that is, if the email is coming from the official email of the exchange. For instance, I still receive emails from an exchange I no longer use. I only need to identify first if it is coming directly from the exchange or if it is a phishing email. Email scams won't be a problem if you can identify real emails from fake ones.

Scammers are gradually improving their scamming range on a daily basis and it's getting really bad especially for newbies who don't really understand the danger involved, the best thing to do would be to completely avoid such shady individual, I once experienced someone trying to buy my coin at a cheaper rate than was intended, the guy flashed a different price but during the trade tried to convince me to sell to him at a cheaper rate, the guy even claimed to have already payed when I didn't even receive any funds from him, best to confirm transactions before releasing your coins to buyers to avoid being scammed.

I used to feel that it's only ignorant people that usually fall victim to cheap scams but no that's not true cause anyone can fall for it whether you feel you're very smart or not, it just takes one mistake and boom your money is gone, we have to be very careful especially "newbies" like you said cause they're more vulnerable for scammers to prey on.
 Anyways the easiest target for scammers are people who are greedy, cause they tend to be nonchalant about their security and would easily trust whatever they come across online so far the reward scammers claim to offer them is good enough, that's why people who operates ponzi schemes usually get large number of schemed victims cause they're all greedy.

That is the problem, if people weren't too greedy then most scammers won't be able to get to them and the rate of scammed people will be reduced drastically but this is easier said than done since people will always try to take to easy way out of poverty even when that seemingly easy way is obviously unrealistic people will still flock to it, so it doesn't matter whether the person doesn't know that they can get scammed it's just that their greed surpasses their common sense so they willingly fall victim to scam and then blame everyone else when they get scammed.

This is a reminder, lesson and guard. The sacrifice of keeping vigily is worth it without thinking twice. What will it gain you to lose your assets to a swindlers as a result of personal laxity? Did I hear pains and regret? This is not limited to kucoin, this is for all digital space and assets (your Satoshi to start with). Making sure that your hard earned resources doesn't fly into thin air is worth doing today, now and tomorrow.

Well I understand your points of view. But I think we should do the right thing at the right time and prevent ourselves from falling into the scammers trap and be their victim. And as my people use to say "prevention is far better than cure". It might be true that not all of them are scammers, but I also believe that 70 percent of them are nothing but a professional scammers and I think the best thing to do is to avoid whatever you don't feel good about, in order to prevent yourself from making a mistake or a decision that you will regret later.

A person should always be aware of this. If a person is not aware, then he is a victim of all these frauds. For example, if a person or someone gives you a link, then it is never right for you to enter that link immediately. Because that link may contain malware that can hack your account. Always be aware so that these fraudsters cannot steal all your holdings or savings.

It is better not to tell anyone how many Bitcoins or other coins you have, always keep it to yourself and keep it secret from yourself and tell a person whom you trust very much so that if something happens to you, he can give your holdings or savings to your family.

I've seen posts like this too frequent on the local board, you could have made your contribution to one of the old posts that have been in existence rather than creating a new one just to say same old shit we've heard for as many times as I can remember. I don't think there's no wrong with the post by the OP. The OP only shared what he felt is important and critical to the forum for the enlightenement of everyone on the forum so that people will not fall victims to such scams. Because scammers are always strategizing of new scam schemes on how to defraud people of their hard earned money so in the area of scams no none post should be enough.



This types of post reminds us all of the need to always stay alert online and be vigilant when ever we are dealing with others on any platform because you may not know who you may be dealing with.

Telegram na the easiest platform to detect scam every fast, very very fast because, it's always boldly written and pinned on every project telegram group chat that "admin will never DM you first"

If you ask a question on the group chat related to wallet problems, you'll definitely see lots of chat from impersonated admins messaging first pretending to help you solve the issue.

That's the quickest way to know scammers, they dm first and very fast.

It's painful that some users are naive to read through pin messages, it's painful causing many to fail again and again, inability to read.

It wouldn't be a great thing for you to go through the emotions of your bullish and moon era, then someone carts away with what you have accumulated over the years. So protecting your assets is yours and yours alone.

Avoid sites promising you free Bitcoin,
Avoid bait clicks on some acclaimed shitcoin sites as well,
If you are into P2P, double-check the funds received before releasing your coins.
Only discuss with their approved customer account if need be (it is your duty to verify).

Do not forget that the robbery of your crypto assets isn’t done with an armour, rather with just a click you initiated by yourself.
These little situations should not be overlooked; they might seem little, but it is better to learn from others’ mistakes than trying to experience it yourself.

Dealing with a centralized exchange requires wisdom and extreme care, otherwise one might just wake up and find he's account been compromised.Scammers aren't literally after your funds only, they can steal your login credentials and hack your account and use it for their fraudulent act.I assume that the user with the name "Alex" was a reputable customer not until he's account got compromised by hackers with intention to send deceptive messages to other customers,and people would believe because probably the account has always been known for good repute, anyways I can't just rush to judgement if the account is owned by a scammer or it was compromised.Just as the content of the whole matter says be careful and stay vigilant.

The reason why you made this statement is because you are enlightened and to very large extent you know stuffs, some persons are not familiar some going on, they don't know that social media is a mess right now, scammers has decided to make it their home, coming up with different antics every now and then to get some bucks from those that are unaware of their shits.
When I see post like this one, I get more happy because of  how further it exposes those scammers who has took it upon themselves to keep scamming without conscience.
It might look funny just as you noted but in the other way, it is not because scammers has a different way of twisting people and if one is not careful, you might fall for them even when you think that you know things, I understand that the easiest way people fall for those scammers is free money but does anything like that exist, greed is a killer that we must take note of.

This can only be possible if you store your bitcoin in non custodial wallet where only you will have full control over your assets through your seed phrase, which some people can as well expose thier seed phrase to people or scammers known or unknowingly so yeah the safety of our assets lies in our hands because if you keep your seed phrase very tight and secured nothing will come before it.

The risk about bitcoin investment is basically on this aspect of storing our seed phrase because if you loss or misplaced your seed phrase be rest assured that you have loss all your assets, so it is very important to keep our seed phrase very tight and secured to avoid making unnecessary mistake.

Information like this draw my attention most, not because of my ignorance but constant been aware of the scammer free one from such victim, this scammer have different strategies, that's is while is advisable to be careful of exchange where many person information will be tender, also allowing your assets on centralize exchange mostly when the asset is reasonable or huge there will be many eyes, as centralize exchange is just a market where different person accessed holding asset there exposed it to risk and scammers attack.
