I'm actually quite surprised not seeing a Boxing on this top 10 list, but then this site (https://zipdo.co/boxing-popularity-statistics/) claims that boxing has over 350 Million fans globally, so I guess it's within the top 11 or 12.

I grew up in a household where Boxing is the most-watched sport, next to Basketball.
Boxing is mostly viewed as a premium sport since, unlike Basketball, where you can just go to any rural town center and you'll see a full-size Basketball court, a Boxing ring is a rare sight.
I remember quite vaguely that we only see boxing matches in our town during the Fiestas and other similar celebrations like Town Foundation day.
A few years back, when Pacquiao was at his peak, the entire country would literally come to a halt just to watch his live match. That's how big Boxing is in the Philippines.
This is probably why I mostly place bets on Boxing rather than on any sport.

I bet on football most of the time.

There are times that I will watch boxing and not bet on it, but I prefer to bet on the common boxing match between two well known people instead, I like football that I can see matches to bet on daily because I know about football better.

Football is most watched sport in my country.

Not surprised that boxing is not on the list because compared to the list you've posted, most of them have matches daily unlike in boxing, that a match might take months before the event. We both grow up in the same country and that's true that basketball and boxing are the top sports we've been watching growing up. However, when I started gambling, I most likely place bet on football, it's really hard for me from the start because there's really a lot of teams and I'm overwhelmed with it, but as the time goes by I learned that using previous stats and live stats would help me win some of my bets.

Right now, I do place bets on (by rank) Football, Basketball, Esports, Ice hockey. I'm more on team sports rather than 1v1 sports like tennis and table tennis. Anyway I haven't seen eSports on the list I was wondering how many fans are there in eSports leagues.

I always believe that soccer is what makes me feel real pleasure. You bet on your team, wait for the match, and once it starts, you cheer for them… nothing can be compared to that moment. The players become your partners; if one of them scores, he becomes not only the man of the match, but your savior of the day ;D

What we should see is that most sports that involves international physical combat are not listed there. They are not popular because they don't come up on a weekly basis and we know bettors patronize gambling on a daily basis. Sports like rugby, sports and entertainment like wrestling, including boxing are not frequent in sporting activities. So if soccer tops the list is understandable because it cuts across all nation both gamblers and non gamblers.

I think the record shown is fair from the wave of gambling. I prefer soccer and we know the rate of its participation in homes. I like watching boxing too while growing up because I felt learning how to defend myself is important  ;D but it doesn't count in the sports I could place a bet on.

Crazy numbers!! I thought it's Basketball on the top, lol. It's maybe because it's only the most famous sport here in our country/continent.

But yeah, do also doubt in Soccer because it's really popular in most countries.

Are you sure about this? I am not following what is happening in boxing than the big matches but if you do not go for only professional matches, you can bet on small boxing weekly if that is what to want. You can go to bookies to see why I said that. But just that I can not just be betting on the matches that I do not know but wait until the professional matches.

I am not surprised to see football topping the list and sure basketball is my most watched after football so for me I mostly bet on this two sport games, although I have boxing on my list of fav sport game's I love watching the fights and sometimes I bet on them when my fav fighters gave match and I am sure they will win.

And what surprised me more, golf is the 9th sport that has the most fans, especially in Asia. I thought it was hard to find any discussion about golf in my country, let alone betting on it. Golf is like an exclusive club where people pretend to play sports while negotiating business.

I can't remember the last time I watched TV, but I don't recall any live golf broadcasts.

Hi SEAbling, it's not surprising to see you like basketball & boxing considering basketball is the favorite sport in your country & you also have a former boxing great like Manny Pacquiao.


Our country (Indonesia) is football maniac, therefore, since childhood I was indoctrinated to love that sport. There's no better sport than football, that's what I heard from my parents when I was kid. With that said, I prefer to bet on football. In a year, you could probably count on your fingers how much I bet on other sports. As for football, you might need more than 1K fingers to count them, LOL.

I usually play football, cricket, basketball but I have all kinds of equipment for boxing at home. I usually play boxing at home in the morning and at night. Football is the most exciting game in the world from where everyone watches the game with excitement and the pace of the game can change in any direction at any time. Usually these games are more popular nowadays but when winter comes here, volleyball becomes popular. In the afternoon, everyone gets involved in volleyball. When I watch football matches, I try to bet on my favorite team and win.

If UFC/Boxing isn't in the top 10 then people don't like violence games, I am a big fan of UFC and Boxing but I hardly place any bet on such sport, the thrill is more than enough for me.

I prefer risking money on soccer matches and slots games, they are both the most interesting ones for me, I hardly place bet on anything else than these two.

I am not surprised to see soccer topping the list, the fans around the world are insanely bigger than any other sports, soccer is the most popular sport ever, I can go hours having discussions about soccer alone.

Football and basketball. But I think it's not so often for others, especially on single game sports. Even the casino mostly hosted betting on sports like football and basketball for odds selection. Maybe because there's a lot of bettors on these sports compared to others and much famous too and exciting game to bet on.

My husband is closely involved in football, although he's not a football player himself. I bet on European football, it's a sport that's captivated me since I was a kid, rooting for my team. I started following other championships as a teenager, so it's what I understand best. You say you're surprised that boxing isn't on this list, but I think that can be explained by the low frequency of heavyweight fights, and betting on rare events is also rare. Basketball is what I prefer, and I don't know why cricket is number two. Perhaps it's because of India. Cricket is their number 1 sport.
Hockey in number 4? Damn! Fans? Yes. But I highly doubt there are a lot of sports bettors there. Yeah, I am also surprised boxing ain't there, or maybe because the number of fights of each boxer is low. I mean, you will not see your favorite boxer daily or weekly. I was grow up in the middle of soccer fans and since were born my parent are the fans of the local club this situation makes me used to watching soccer games for almost every week that is why for sport betting mostly i bet on soccer games too but actually i like other sport such as boxing even when the boxer from my country became an the champion i always be support them and currently if there is a big fight i was quite active to bets on those events

Basketball, tennis and occasional e-sports. I’m surprised that cricket has much larger fan based compared to Basketball but I realized that it’s popular on country that has huge number of population such as India that’s why it can dominate the sports world.

Sports that I’m betting are very popular in my country so it has a lot of broadcast and news that covers this sports compared on other sports that listed.

I bet more on soccer and slightly on tennis, then the others I do once in a blue moon. Betting on tennis is because my friend is really into it and he could give me his prediction but football is the most watched sports for me, not that I don't want other sports but mostly football and that's why I can easily make prediction on some match and I can do a quick prediction for some team's fixture since I have e already been watching their games for years, I can quickly guess the outcome without even doing too much research and then place the bet.

Basketball and boxing are two popular sports in my country. I usually bet on boxing against my peers. I'm surprised boxing isn't in the top ten, given how every big event creates a huge buzz.
But I cannot disregard the power and support of European countries for their favorite sports. I guess even if a particular sport is popular in your country, that doesn't necessarily mean it's popular in other countries.

There's a chance that the statistics are correct due to the changes in boxing because of the lack of genuine boxing fights, as we see in the prime time of Mike Tyson, etc.
Now it is always about the money, not based on what the fans wanted, and most of the boxing fights we're seeing are not real due to the conditions added to the fight. An example is Mike Tyson's fight with Jake Paul.

growing up here in the Philippines boxing really hits different even if it’s not in the global top 10 list I can feel how huge it is locally, during Pacquiao’s prime the whole country would stop, streets were empty, sari sari stores had their TVs outside & everyone was basically united for a few hours. I don’t get that kind of energy with most sports. I do bet on basketball sometimes mostly NBA or UAAP but boxing is where I’m most comfortable. It feels more premium & special maybe because events aren’t as frequen so every big fight becomes an occasion.

My beta are usually placed on football and basketball. These are my two major sports of interest and the only sports upon which I place my bets, the reason Behind this is very simple; I do not understand other sports as much as I understand these two, basketball and football are the two sports I understand very well and I believe I shouldn't be involved in something I don't understand well enough so I don't suffer inexplicable loses. I once tried a game I didn't understand and I was solely dependent on luck, more like it eas a blind bet, I got lucky once and the rest other times was loses which I didn't want to continue in such direction anymore.

Another major reasons I chose these two sports is because how well I enjoyed them, I actively fan them enough to enjoy the games when I watch it, that way I feel included and I gwt to build  the best of passion for the game beyond just gambling on them, but it's really different with other games and so I do not engage because I will not enjoy the games ans also don't wish to learn how they work now.

I like betting on soccer and basketball games. I especially follow NBA matches and World Cup qualifiers very closely. I enjoy watching the matches. I enjoy watching even more the games I bet on. That is the main reason i bet on them to be honest.

I mostly bet on soccer , very rarely I can place bets on some combat sports if I am going to watch that fight. Recently I have limited my football bets to only a few leagues that I follow. It is much easier for me to bet this way because the fewer teams there are, the easier it is for me to keep track of them, the news, and everything else. To avoid spreading my attention too thin, a few leagues are more than enough for me to place several bets per week.

I regularly do place bets on football. But I also follow basketball and place bets on that sport as well. The reason is that I really like and play these sports. Football, Tennis, and Basketball are my three preferred sports for betting, but mostly only on major leagues or tournaments. For example, for basketball, the NBA is the only competition I bet on, because I don't follow other competitions and this would only be a hassle because I don't know the development of the competition as a reference for choosing.

Honestly most of us will have a dip on soccer  because we are used to playing it, watching it and hearing about the news and latest development in football matches, so i will go for soccer, just as it also appears being the highest in this regard, people all over the world are more interested in watching it, gambling couldn't have been this fun to play without the even of sports and soccer games specifically.

I think like you said, football is topping the charts because of its frequency. Because of how very often it is. Football is every where every day and and almost all the time. Hardly will you find a time that one game or the other is not going on. When you wake up and check, there is a game. When you are able to go to bed and check there is another one going on and this is happening almost every day so in a case like this, it does not have to do with you loving the sport or not it is about its availability which is what pulls people in and give them something they can throw their money into for fun.

But when you look at other games, there is difference with them. They do not occur so frequently unlike the sports listed above which are happening more frequently. Some of these games like boxing games could probably happen just once or twice in a month so even if it happens to be your most favorite, you don't get to gamble with it as much.
