Title: Wait Time Q
Post by: serenitys on April 05, 2014, 07:40:53 PM
Since I'm in the preliminary 4 day wait for the $1 worth of btc I just set to order, I can't make ANY further purchase, right? I can't go ahead and start a new order for a new amount?

Am I really going to be forced to wait another 30 days before I purchase again?

Clarification?

Where are you purchasing your coins? Probably some exchange?
Maybe youd rather meet with someone in person and pay cash. You should probably buy a little over 1$ worth though ;)

Yeah, must be a wait for an exchange or something.

What are you talking about?
Where you did set this order?

On which exchange?

ps. better delete anyway this 1$ order ... and stop dreaming :)

Sorry - I signed up at coinbase and initiated a first order of $1 worth after verifying my bank info. I did that just to learn the system and how to make transactions, or that's the plan once they send it.

I read it takes 4 days for that transaction (didn't link a cc) so it's not instant.

But then I also read somewhere that after that first one, I have to wait 30 days to do anything else.

Is that true? I can't make another purchase until May??

And I wasn't dreaming. I wanted a small amount to send myself to set up the wallet all that stuff. Not buying a whole value btc for a dollar.

Jesus.

You'd be better off trying to buy a small amount from here. I'm sure somebody would sell you that amount even for PP.

Have you tried posting in the trade section?

Also no ones going to sell you only $1 in bitcoin, so you might want to increase the amount of btc you want to purchase.

WTF are we talking about... ;D

I'm not asking for someone to send me anything.

That's not true.  If someone wants to mail me a $1 bill, I'd be happy to send them $1 worth of bitcoins.

You'd be happy with people knowing your address, all for a dollar?

Maybe he has a post box somewhere away from his home?

How far from his home? Probably wouldn't be worth the dollar haha.

Lots of people already know my address.  Are saying that you live in a secret location and nobody in the world knows your address?  I don't understand what the problem is with people knowing an address.  Aren't most people listed in the white pages of the phone directory anyhow?

Yes, I do have a PO Box.  Mostly just for convenience.

How far from his home? Probably wouldn't be worth the dollar haha.

If I'm already going to the PO Box to pick up my mail, then there isn't any extra cost (in time or money) to pick up the envelope that has the $1 in it while I'm there.

I'm not listed in it. Do they give your full name and address out? Lot's of people know my name and address too, but not on here, so I live in a secret location for all you know. I'm sure there are plenty of people on here who would take advantage of knowing your or my address if they knew it and I certainly wouldn't like to take the risk.

I get stacks of junk mail (unsolicited advertisements) in the mail almost daily.  Therefore, it's clear to me that my name and address are associated with each other in a variety of databases that I don't have control over.  Since any of those databases could be leaked (accidentally or intentionally) to the public, I don't rely on obscurity for security and safety.  Anyone who thinks that obscurity provides them security and safety is likely to discover otherwise eventually.

There's a difference between this scenario and getting junk mail sent to your house. I never said or assumed I'm untraceable, but obscurity provides you with relative safety on here. It's unlikely people have access to those databases here and if they did they have no way of connecting your handle to a real world address unless you make it easier for them.

There's some reason that the people who read bitcointalk.org are a bigger threat than the people who have access to the databases that are used to send me junk mail?

There's some reason that the people who read bitcointalk.org are a bigger threat than the entire population of the earth (if any of those junk mail databases are ever leaked to the public)?

Send cash and a bitcoin address to PO BOX 72, Minooka, IL

I'll send bitcoins to the bitcoin address in the envelope when the cash arrives.
