Title: Shortest path between 2 Wikipedia articles wins 1.453 BTC ($6)
Post by: genjix on December 28, 2011, 04:28:44 PM
From:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultra_high_frequency

To:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dromaeosaurus_minutus

Post your distances (but not solutions). After 20 posts, once the person with the shortest solution posts his distance, he wins. People have 1 day to post their solutions from the 20th post otherwise winner is the next person down.

Mine: took me 7 steps

I assume it's via means of the hyperlinks found within the Wiki articles. Am I correct?

Also, you requested longest distance. Did you mean shortest?

Any other rules?  Couldn't I just make a change to the second article, click "recent changes on the left" and click the article on that page?

2 steps, I win?

That beats my idea by 1 step.

I kind of like this game/contest. There are no losers, for everybody that plays learns something new during the process.

May I suggest clarifying the rules a tad and up the prize to the cube root of the least number of steps, thus 6 steps would equate to 1.8171206 BTC.

Now that you have the Christmas Special behind you, I see that you've taking on the task of rewriting the internet.

Somebody please give Matthew something to do with his new video equipment before he goes and edits the internet like stating that there are 27 dams located on the Wabash River when currently there are NONE.

UHF->Springfield,_Massachusetts->dinosaur->feathered dinosaur->Alvarezsauridae

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultra_high_frequency

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Springfield,_Massachusetts

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dinosaur

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feathered_dinosaurs

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alvarezsauridae (synonym of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dromaeosaurus_minutus and redirects t the same page)

So 4 transitions total and 3 pages between UHF and Dromaeosaurus_minutus

O.o
That's a strange approach.

What's so strange about it? I just backtracked from Alvarezsauridae to dinosaur and than just clicked all locations on the UHF page until I found 1 linked to dinosaurs  :D

Simple rule: No links allowed having an edit time stamp later than the time stamp of the posting of the contest (or something like that).

Can we have another, genjix? The community seems to like this. Just update the rules in the OP, always adjusting as time passes, as I do when with my contest, albeit mostly for clarity purposes.
