Where are all the responses?

I guess you need a "chick" on here after all. ;)

Since I do most of the cooking, I have a few recipes but I actually don't cook anything that spicy or use tomatoes, except in spaghetti, lasagna or on salads.

I make an oven baked chicken most people like.  It requires skinless chicken breast, first dipped in butter (real butter is best), then dipped in a breading made with about 2/3 cracker crumbs or panko bread crumbs or crushed corn flakes mixed with 1/3 parmesan cheese.  With the oven set at 375 I bake them for about 40 minutes or so, until the tops are golden brown.   You could probably add some hot sauce before you dip the chicken in butter for a little more "kick".  I have never tried it, but who knows, it might be good. ;)

Although I can't eat spicy food now when I did one of my favourites was "mapo doufu" (a very popular Sichuan traditional Chinese dish).

It is basically minced meat (normally pork) and tofu with a bunch of red hot chilly peppers!

Easily cooked in a wok and no difficult preparation.

Chinese dishes are the one thing I'm horrible at. I just can't seem to duplicate the style or taste It always comes out a mess. I do love Chinese though.

I can't cook much beyond boiling an egg myself - but fundamentally Chinese about basics like "oil and garlic" and the correct preparation (a lot of chopping up of ingredients which is why "mapo doufu" might be an easier starting point).

Certainly "wok" cooking is not very difficult (and is very quick).

Also note that traditional "mapo doufu" includes Sichuan "wild peppers" which *literally make your lips and tongue numb* (so you may have to decide whether or not you want to include those as a lot of westerners don't like that).

Curry rice is delicious and very simple to make :)
Cook rice, any kind you want. When done, add a generous amount of coconut milk, curry power, and any vegetable/tofu/bean/meat you want. Adding a tomato or tomato sauce also adds a good flavour. And if you like spicy food, feel free to add hot pepper or tabasco sauce.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/81/Sweet-and-sour_pork.jpg/800px-Sweet-and-sour_pork.jpg

Sweet and sour pork is a Chinese dish that is particularly popular in westernised Cantonese cuisine and may be found all over the world. Several provinces in China produce various dishes that claim to be the ancestor including a traditional Jiangsu dish called Pork in a sugar and vinegar sauce. The dish consists of deep fried pork in bite sized pieces, and subsequently stir-fried in a more customized version of sweet and sour sauce made of sugar, ketchup, white vinegar, and soy sauce, and additional ingredients including pineapple, green pepper (capsicum), and onion. In more elaborate preparations, the dish's tartness is controlled by requiring that Chinese white rice vinegar be used sparingly and using ketchups with less vinegary tastes, while some restaurants use unripe kiwifruits and HP sauce in place of vinegar.

I do all the cooking at home and i do it pretty well i think. I'm bored with all my current dishes and looking to try a new dish anyone have anything good like a family recipe or favorite?

I love spicy food i also love recipes involving tomatoes or tomato sauce if that helps.
Thanks

Sure I have!!! :)

have a look at those :

-15 Minutes time
-Two eggs
-TableSpoon on flour
-Two tablespoons of milk
-Pinch of salt
-Jam / marmalade
-Frying pan + butter (for frying)

Seperate white part of egg from a yellow one :D hehe - mix up glair (white part of an egg) to make a spume
add yolk and mix with flour and milk and salt all togehter again.

Pour it onto a Frying pan and after few minutes turn around - wait another few (~5min) and EAT IT ! :) with marmalade on it! :)

This is really great!
