I'd rather keep a damaged wallet , until I can find a trusted person who can recovering it , rather than giving it to a newbie with only one post who would be likely to just steal it. Correct, an unencrypted wallet has all the private keys in the necessary format to allow them complete control over your coins - meaning that someone untrutworthy can easily steal them. NEVER send anyone a cleared ersion of your wallet - I would even be hesitant of sending an encrypted version I it doesn't have sufficient length and entropy.
