Before FTC started the whole altcoin scam rush of 2013.
Before Chinacoin.
Before Quark and the Instamine scam
Before Worldcoin.
Before IPO scams.
Before Premine Scams
Before Airdrops.
Before Doge/Cat/Farm Animal/Celebrity/Country coins.

Life was a lot more simple back then. Life was beautiful.
I remember litecoin at mere pennies.
That day when LTC hit $1 we all celebrated. Most of you copy and paste noobs don't remember when BTC-E let you use Emoticons. When we could spam "Arize Chickun" and not get banned.

Anyone remember when coinchoose only had like 6 coins listed?
Anyone remember Cryptsy TrollBox?
Anyone remember the real Fontas?

I was there. I started mining ltc at pennies.  Very little hash at the time.  It was a different world then.  Fun new exciting!

BTC-e was fun. I remember a Sunday Morning I woke up and for hours all the troll box said was Gox this and Gox that. Gox in Sox and  so on. It was pretty funny..

Ah yes. The day when people got goxed and the exchange totally crashed. clarkmoody wouldn't load anything. Everyone got lagged to hell. BTC-E was doing Gox puns. I never laughed so hard.

I guess one of the reasons for nostalgia is because of some of the coins I hold. I might look at hobonickels and say "wow 12 cents is high" but I remember LTC at 23 cents thinking the same thing. I remember after when LTC hit $2 I thought that it was too high. Then we hit over $40 dollars.

Even now you see LTC ballers on BTC-E flashing 100k LTC plus sell orders. I always think "did they buy those recently or did they mine them in the early days?"
Its funny how much things change in a year.

It's all thanks to bitcoin's price. I don't really think that FTC was the coin that started the altcoin rush.

And even though litecoin was builted with the purpose to make mining more accessible profitability for GPUs is going down the drain again. And I don't really belive that profitability of mining is going to benefit from those "GPU friendly" coins.

I remember LTC at 6 cents, but I wasn't buying alts then.
BTC-e was tons of fun before last Nov/Dec.

BTC-E was fun for me until they removed Emoticons, made you wait 30 seconds before replying and now forces you to have a deposit before you can chat.

Cryptsy Troll box was fun until they updated the layout and realized that they couldn't support a trollbox with a million DOGE shibes spouting "such troll, many box, spam wow".

Their Emoticons were great.
I started using BTC-e ~3 weeks before they took those away. Too bad they couldn't stay.

I remember when it was all about alternative currencies, now its about the fiat  :'(

I remember not selling when the price spiked up the first time and I didn't sell and I got all sad. But then a few weeks later it spiked to over $4.

Good memories. Arize chikun. Chikun arise...Chikun will reach moon!

LTC did make it into orbit.
6 cents to $50 was a great run up.

oh yeah the days when everyone used to mine after launch.......those were the days  :'(

I joined the community a month after reading about this exact event on some random blog. Bitcoin was fluctuating @ $80-120 and another month later IFC was selling for 10-20 liteoshi. For anyone wondering that's 100 million IFC for about $100 btc equivalent at the time. 2 months ago that same 100 mill was worth $10,000  :P and now about $2,000

We are all so rich.  ;)

may be NXT and NEM will be in future 15-20$ per coin???

Those Gox puns flooded in so fast, many of them seemed like bots.

Do you also remember how Tenebrix and LTC devs lied about GPU mining being impossible?  ;)

I remember when it hit 80 cents and btc went to 80 dollars at about the same time, and this forum was.... different.

When I started LTC mining , it was $0.4 . Then it rose to $49 and now back to $11. Crypto is just amazing.

I remember first BTC crash at winter/spring 2011 when BTC had fallen from 30$  :D Few months later I've been mining BTC for several days (about 0.7 BTC / day / 6950) and sold @ 5$  ;D

Oh, it was fun! I bought some @less than a penny. But i remember it was a huge pain getting fiat in, though.

I've been there too. In that time it was mostly about fun and I thought that we are forging a new, maybe better world. I think I was quite a bit naive :).

one word. Nostalgic !

Alot of us must of felt like pioneers back then. Just when the world was learning about Bitcoin, we were balls deep into LTC and other legacy coins like TRC, PPC, NMC, DVC and NVC. Heck even some of us "veterens" don't even remember Tenebrix, Fairbrix or Solidcoin.

I remember getting 25 LTC from a user on BTC-E when it was about 60 cents, as a gift. He had mined a ton of them at mere pennies and told me these exact words.

"keep the blockchain going"

Its one of the few things that makes me not quit the scene. Money comes and goes, but being a part of history is priceless.

Its getting harder now with all these scams going around. It seems like we are just drowning in sewage.

yeah but when you've been around these parts long enough you realise those not in it for the fiat end up being the crypto wealthy........

I had a few really generous giveaways from a few people on here and it really makes a difference to how I see people. There are plenty of scammers but also plenty of really nice, decent people who go out of their way to help others. It's nice to know not everyone is out to rip you off.
