Title: I think the shitcoin flood is ending ...
Post by: minairia3 on April 08, 2014, 06:26:49 PM
Checkout altcoincalendar.info and cryptocoincalendar.com.  It is like after April 1st the plug was pulled.  Just a few fresh turds in the bowl so far this month.  I wonder what happened? I hope it keeps happening.

Just wait, it's the calm before the storm. There will be more country coins than actual countries by the end of next month :P

There will be 3 country coins for every country. We already have 3 guldens. I saw someone doing a state coin too

We may, but few if any will reach a decent marketcap, they'll die before the owners even got some cash out of it before the month is much older. The amount of fools with money is larger than I expected (yes I know... my fault), but soon most will tire of the game, and quit believing in the next big thing.

Maybe if bitcoin falls further in value there will be less and less shit coins released. I heard that before bitcoin zoomed up in value there were very few alts, perhaps because people thought there would be no money in them. By last christmas people were talking about bitcoin hitting $1 million, and the dollar signs obviously lit up in plenty of unscrupulous devs eyes.

It had to happen. The bubble burst, and with burst bubbles come more hostility and less support. (!)

It's all caused by bitcoin price instability=lower interest in altcoins.

Yes, first gen clones attack is slowing down.

Many of these died (or are dying) with Cryptorush Cryptoflush going down.  The toilet is out of order.

This is normal, these floods come and go just like the tide.

And as stated, there is a very strong correlation between the price trend of BTC and the amount of "lower quality" clones.

I could probably find a quote with those exact words from 2013, 2012, etc

I think we will see thousands of coins before it slows down. I also don't think that is a bad thing

I don't think it's the number of coins that is the issue, IMO it's the number of exchanges now... i mean, 6 months ago you (as a developer) had to work to prove some value and hope it would eventually get on one of the few alt-exchanges.

It wouldn't matter how many coins there were if exchanges were discerning on some level...

Now? giant premines? "IPO"? NO PROBLEM... insta-listing. Dump. As long as there are so many places to "get out of a coin" not much is going to happen in the alt world until you actually have to nurture value out of a coin....

solution only buy into established alts with proper dev and community.....but that's lost on alot of the get rich types around here.

Raising the awareness level of users of the damaging and wasteful behavior in a lot of recent topics has helped i think.

For one thing i don't think a lot of the more newer users that all popped up around here October / November
really truly even believed a lot of the stuff that they were warned about on random rare occasions
all i would ever see from the new guys is a knee jerk defensive reaction of what ever clone coin they were flogging
saying that anyone that criticized crypto coins were simply haters out to destroy them for no good reason.
when in reality people only complain about bad coins so all the good one have a fair chance at making it.

and when enough stories come out about some of these mass cloners i think it's started to sink in just how
unbelievably corrupt these guys are and how massive their scamming operations are.
the truth may be ugly but oh well.. facts are facts.
and it's better to clean up the mess and expose the frauds for who they are and get rid of them and move on
but in reality i think all that will do is create a lull in cloning as they regroup and change names and come back
later in full force once the complaints die down..

the mass cloners are not going anywhere they got a taste of easy money suckering gullible noobs.
primarily the ones who yammer on about Free Market and defend their coins for them and flash mine them
while saying well i don't support XYZ coin i just want to make money.. rinse repeat for every clone put out.

the guys who have pulled the worst of the worst scammy stunts before never left.. they simply change names.
they are not going anywhere, they are here to stay until the last dollar is sucked dry from the scene.

I think it was far harder to make an alt back then as well.

As ArsTechnica pointed out in their altcoin experiment, it only takes a couple hours and $200 to launch your own alt from start to finish with no programming required.

Launch is one thing, support is another. That is a key difference. Do you have developers who will work through the weekend to fix a key security exploit? Support for a coin is how it lives or dies in reality. Then there is community and marketing. Whether or not people are in it for a quick buck, or something longer term.

Out of all the country coins, I think there is one that might actually be serious and that is NLG , guldencoin. They have just partnered up with a litebite a dutch site that does Euro/NLG pairing.

They have also got the teams full identity on there homepage which is great considering all the scam coins and exchanges that have come recently.

https://guldencoin.com/who-we-are/  --> This is really refreshing to see.

EFL, the first Dutch countrycoin, was on Litebit before NLG and was actually picked up by the media.
Where are the media articles for Guldencoin? ...

29 news-articles (2 audio interviews, 1 on national news Radio) for Electronic Gulden [EFL] (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=557077.0)

I hope not. All fiat currencies are the same since the 70's, not backed up by Gold and mega inflationary. Best scam ever which will lead to a huge wealth transfer from West to East (India and China have been hoarding gold for years as it holds value). I visited India a couple of years ago and bought gold from Dubai on route after being advised to do so from a friend. Was easy to sell at a mark-up in India (they can't get enough of the stuff).

That being said you can buy Gold and sell at a mark-up on eBay (morons pay 15-20% more than it's worth).

I recall one guy saying back in September 2013 roughly on Cryptsy chat that many of you know
he said "it's getting hard to scam the noobs.. they are getting smarter"
and i think that applies here with the OCT/NOV crowd.

they aren't as dumb now and combine that with new users have to have been slowed to a crawl for a couple months i think (just a guess)
so no new fresh blood plus smarter noobs makes dumping shit coins for a new Lambo everyday harder and harder lol
many are questioning whether to hold on to all the those fancy gpu's they paid double for too..
i bought my 1 7950 right before they all flooded here for $199 and later it was being sold used on ebay for a minimum of $470 (and everywhere else too)
they flooded in and overpaid for hardware and coins etc and many have taken a beating with fanboysism, propaganda and hyping on troll box's,
and taken big loses such as with Max coin and they are now out and gone (left) or far more paranoid about screaming "Take my money" now lol
(so i think the cloners are easing up because the don't see the volume of noobs flash mining anymore)

one guy said earlier on this topic that Bitcoin went down so the ALT's will too.. (i think he's right, that is the pattern i see now for a while)
well unless i am totally crazy but didn't like most of all last year any time BTC went down Alt's went up on Cryptsy ? that is the pattern i remember.

poor noobs love mouthing me off but they forget a ton of us we're sitting back waiting for you with a knife and fork on exchanges haahaa
all too happy to sell you expensive Altcoins.. you guys came in screaming Take My My Money ! LOL
and you bought up anything not nailed down for stupid prices....... like idiots
i couldn't believe how high some got and how much the guys that just got here spouted off telling people that what ever coin they had was going to the moon lol
<insert coin name> is going to be the bitcoin killer ! lol
The noob fanboyism and cheerleading that started then and up until now is revolting and severely irritating and illogical.

You could see a million noobs show up on Troll Boxs and IRC for exchanges etc and they would simply say what coin should i buy ?
and then they would go buy them.. with huge amounts of money too lol ..which makes for some easy money hahaha
and then it snow balled i think with so much of that precise behavior going on that more and more noobs threw money at any coin no matter which one it was
simply becusee they seen a green arrow at Cryptsy.. a domino effect.. that has now crashed.

Flooding the scene with shit coins and making excuses to support them is the biggest killer of all and i warned everyone about that almost by myself to deaf ears
i said it would kill this scene and we havn't seen nothing yet.. it's doomed and we're screwed unless we make severe and drastic changes asap !
And ask yourselves are the coin cloners going to stop ? (and yes i do consider even coins like Digibyte a clone for example)
Are the supporters going to fumble over themselves making pools for any shit coin ?
Are exchanges going to keep adding ANY coin asap no matter what and blame it all on "user demand" when the market crashes ?
Are users going to mine and support any coin no matter who made it or how bad it is as long as they can say "well i made 10 BTC with lol" ?

Irresponsible Greed.. short term gain vs Long term health of the scene is what i see.. make a lot asap and none later or make a bit less now and have a scene in the future !
and that is all it is... shit talk to BTC to fiat while spouting off Free Market and i love crypto.
If you all did you'd be holding your coins lol
But we see dumping non stop which is why values goes down.. because there is more demand to sell than to buy.. so it's not possible to deny it.
Blablah blah i love crypto FIAT !
