DDOS attacks on BTC-e have occured many times , i would not worry. But still its not safe to have coins on any exchange , as soon as you trade , transfer them to your wallets.

Personally want 1oz Silver back to being at least 1:1 with bitcoin, in the summer of 2012, when I last traded bitcoins for Silver, the price was in the $4-5/bitcoin range then. It was a very bad trade for me, considering I was buying Silver selling for $30/oz.
