I use Transmission. Basically because it's simple, and it works just fine.
Also, I don't have to watch commercials and stuff like in some of the commercial applications.

I also use Transmission by the same reasons. I love it.

Vuze mostly since I was using Azuerus before hand and have a less bloated edition
Lightweight Utorrent is convenient where CPU matters though

Currently using Bit Torrent 7.6
Using since 2006. Never had any problem. But nowadays I hardly download anything with it. Don't have much time for all the downloading, ever since I got a full time job.  ;D

It takes a lot of time to find the right torrent, look at the samples / screenshots and then set the connection. Earlier, it used to be fun. But right now, I don't have much time.

Transmission. Simply because it came pre-installed on Ubuntu based linux distros, and therefore that was the only torrent program I know of when I started downloading. And then it's also open-source and kinda minimalistic, so it suits my preferences well.
But remember kids, piracy is a crime! (And therefore I have never pirated, and never will ::))

µTorrent - sheerly for the options it provides plus being able to set-up a proxy without too much hassle. The only annoying thing is the ads although those are quite easily removed.

I don't use torrents simply because I always worry all the downloading will slow my computer down.  I'm aware there are ways to store the downloads of the computer I'm just saying why I always hesitated to do so.  I'll be taking note of where others go for their downloads cause I think I'll try it soon.

Why? Is it bad?

It's both closed source and it shows ads in the client. I believe at least one P2P network was compromised by its ad system, but I forget which. Not to mention, if it's closed source AND they're willing to put ads in to make money, what ELSE would they be willing to put in to make money? I use Deluge or qBittorrent.

Ads has never bothered me but the closed source thing is pretty major! Going to give qbit a try.

uTorrent, for obvious reasons. A (very) tiny BitTorrent client.

But I must say it has been a bloatware since a last few releases; tries to install 3rd party tools when you install free version. And pushes you to buy the 'Plus' version every now-and-then.  I mean, REALLY? Who the fcuk wants a PAID version of a torrent client?

Switch to another client then. There are many open-source, non 3rd party installing clients. Transmission for example only ask you to donate once in a while on start up.

Don't think that torrents by their nature are handled by the NSA but your right that is quite the impressive number
Even though I don't use it on my main but have it installed on other units
I guess I'll make a note that Vuze accepts bitcoins

Yes, on newer version, I still use 1.6.1 cuz is the best no ads no search just place torrent file n enjoy.
