Title: News.com.au mention of bitcoin - Party drugs popular with online shoppers
Post by: Cluster2k on January 07, 2012, 02:34:38 PM

Not exactly the best association to make to with bitcoins, but it's getting the currency's name out there in popular Australian media (online and print).

"Once in, the website brazenly advertises cocaine, LSD, ecstasy and other illicit substances, which are purchased with virtual currency called "Bitcoins" and delivered to the buyer through Australia Post."

that's corny. So can the thousands of subtances we non drug users consume in our food and beverages every day..

articles like that make me sad though. It does, however, make me curious of just how big the SR economy is.

Its MDPV, not MPVD.

Also this kind of thing is exactly like why drugs shouldn't be prohibited. People get drug tested for work, etc so instead of using the known compound, they are willing to try the new ones that haven't been tested by thousands of people beforehand. You aren't going to stop people who wanna get high from doing it, they will find a way.

new untested substances can be very dangerous and harmful to health...

and more importantly, harmful to Big Pharma's ability to make Big profits...
long existing and extensively tested substances, that anyone can grow
themselves etc., are also a danger in that regard.

Please people don't do anything that your Government doesn't want you to do.
They have shown time and time again how much they have your best interests
in mind.

I am still waiting to hear from them on whether it is safe for me to use Bitcoin.   ???

Not to mention it's complete and utter bullshit since vendors get reviews and couldn't possibly sell unless their stuff was of good quality.

I checked the site a few days ago and they have loads of offers up but their forum was down so I couldn't check that. I'm also not a customer, just a nosy lurker.

Nah! They had it right: MPVD = Multichannel Video Programming Distribution. But it was for the wrong article. The same author was dissing porn on the internet. I assume he dipped into his private stash of MDPV prior to penning that article.

Seriously, Bitcoin was only mentioned once in the article. It's not like the author was trying to stick it up Bitcoin's ass. He just started what was fact, as I read it. Not to bad of an article, albeit a tad black eye for our favorite coin.
