Actually it is a nice way to utilize the excess electricity. Why give away your spare power for free, when you can mine Bitcoins with it?  ;D

Bitcoin mining by using solar energy. Is it possible?

Solar panels are quite expensive. Other than that it is a good idea to use the spare power for the mining of Bitcoins. That said, today the mining is highly uneconomical and will never pay for itself.
