This graph shows the hashing power distribution in the network, the names are mining pools. I saw same thing 3 months ago and the "unknown" part was smaller.

1. Because there were small pools no one knew about.
2. Because someone had a lot of hashpower and solo mined.

Yeah, what I just said.

The unknown part is huge in blockchain.info data, because the site doesn't put much effort in finding smaller pools and private farms.

If you refer to the weekly report on organofcorti.blogspot.com (prepared by organofcorti https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=14118), the unknown is just 7.67% last week.
