Title: Loan for music equipment
Post by: dank on April 17, 2014, 06:27:21 AM
I seek to buy some monitor speakers and condenser mic to record some music.

BTC amount is up to you, whatever you feel comfortable helping with.

Trying to make some beautiful music here.  It is progressing exponentially.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is some of my work.  https://soundcloud.com/dankm

It would be cool to get a new synthesizer too, I was hoping to release an album called illusion but I need more sound to put into it, the synth that I picked up from guitar center for $70 has reached it's peak more or less from a variation of sounds aspect, more or less.

but you're a scammer...

idea:  stop spending so much money on da dank and then you'll have some for gear.

I'm not a scammer.  That's like calling someone who foreclosed on a house a scammer.  I got screwed on my business and it was carried onto squall, I messed up one transaction out of several dozen.

Even then, I paid off 22 BTC of the 75 BTC loan (back when BTC was 10-13 dollars) and continue to pay him back monthly.  Scammers don't take off with 75 BTC and then return it.

And I have smoked probably four times in the last month.  Don't be so quick to judge.

Giving links to what you intend to purchase as well as estimated time of return would be beneficial to both parties here eh.

Condenser microphone, a Blue Snowball microphone might be in your interest.  Here is an awesome price on one if you're interested:  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Blue-Snowball-iCE-USB-Microphone-17280332-/360864337728

[At people who say I'm wasting my time legitimately responding to Dank]
Yeah, I realize Dank's story and his bizarre posts, but this post of his is grounded and he does have actual music up.
Bashing it over people's head that he is a "scammer" when he already has it in big red letters is redundant I think;
note I'm not in favor of anyone being "scammed".

Finally, Spring is a charming track.  Mellow and simplistic: https://soundcloud.com/dankm/spring
A good number of your tracks are good.  I'm not certain, but it sounds like you're using default percussion/kicks in the software you're using.  Some tracks could really benefit from something more unique and natural sounding. Another thing is getting your music out there, just small Forum postings and such could be a good step.

Yeah

Thank you for the constructive feedback.  I recently purchased a NTA-1 mic, if I recall correctly and it is nice but does not pick up the lower frequencies like I'd like it to.  I've also had some trouble with it, I recorded one song with it but I haven't been able to get it to work since.  I would like to purchase something a little better, the better the quality, the better the music, the more I can change the world.

I'm looking for studio quality equipment, the electronic songs I produce are with a $300ish Akai 24-bit synthesizer that I picked up for $70 guitar center (demo unit) but some buttons have broken, including the larp (record), which makes it difficult to play with.  A new synthesizer would help me produce some trippy music and complete the illusion album, which I can then distribute.  I haven't got a model in mind as I like to look at equipment in person to hear the sound of it.

Dank music going to blow up in the near future and I want to catalyze the process and give back to those who helped me succeed.  As it is, I'm just playing at my parents house and soon I will have my own place to record and produce music of exponential quality.

Glad you like some of my work.  I appreciate your positive feedback.

Note for people: I am going to release two albums in the near future, illusion and windows.  illusion will be electronic and windows will be guitar.  The music will be released for free but I may distribute hard copies for cheap, say, $4.20? as a means of collecting donations and progressing the musical frontier.

I made these today as well:

Need to figure out why my amp is hissing, playing her too hard I guess.  Or it's just snakey trying to speak to me. :D
