Exchange 2000 BTC to fiat and keep the rest until BTC reaches at least $800-$1000.

Oh. :( I'll go with the second option then.

I would immediately switch to fiat, wait for the price to drop slightly, then re-buy 90% back and hold/spend as bitcoin.

switch to fiat and buy a island

First option is stupid, because you would be selling half of them at $100.
More like sell 200, buy a house, sell 200 more buy a second house, sell 200 more, buy a third house, later on sell 200 more buy a fourth, and so on. Then rent the houses out to veterans for cheap as dirt after I have 10.

If i would be a millionaire and have like 5 million dollars i would of course keep all 10K bitcoins for a long term without selling ANY of them. :)

Post by: odolvlobo on April 18, 2014, 05:16:40 PM
The best choice is to sell all the bitcoins, and then do what I want to do (which would include buying most of them back).

Your poll is broken. You need more options plus none of the above. I think that your results will be invalid because most people would select none of the above if they could.

First, pay the relevant taxes on the massive gain I just experience by receiving these.

Then, switch some to fiat, watch prices, if it starts to drop or look sketchy probably unload some more quickly, ultimately I'd hold onto at least 25% for very long term to see if it ever does actually hit 10k or something crazy like that.

Changing to fiat is not necessary, you can spend the BTC directly instead

Hodl them until there worth far more than 1K, but then I'd sell some. You need to add more poll options.

I admit, I would immediately sell some just to cover my student loans...but definitely hold onto the rest as there's no reason no to... ;D

I will exchange 90% to fiat, and then donate it all to charity.

The other 10% stays in bitcoin.

Pretty sure you can't buy a lot of things (property for example) very easily with BTC at this stage...

No No you can't! only 3 choices  :D
Can I at least get spend whatever I have at some point in time?

Edit: Given the 3 choices, I will switch to fiat immediately. Then I would be free to do whatever I wanted with the fiat and not be bounded by the constraints of this stupid poll.

Charity in capitalism is unethical (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpAMbpQ8J7g).

What's needed is solidarity. Solidarity, reason (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uk7gKixqVNU), and social justice.

"I will switch to fiat immediately" > maybe you don't believe in bitcoin
"stupid poll" > it is insulting to all the people who participated in the poll
"bounded by the constraints" > bounded by your arrogance is more appropriate

I hope Soros Shorts and Odolvlobo will not discourage new people to post polls, good or not.

If I receive 10,000 BTC, then I'll:

1) Convert BTC1,000 to fiat (USD)
2) Dump my current citizenship and get a new St Kitts citizenship (costs $400,000)
3) Once I receive my new citizenship, I'll convert BTC4,000 to cash
4) Will keep the remaining BTC5,000

I'll just change everytime a spike comes up, sell when it stabilizes and wait for the next spike  ;D I earned ~60BTC with this method (but lost some as well :( :P )

Hire massive team of exterminators to eliminate all fast-moving non-essential insects (especially the abominations, your sibling-, mate-, and mother-eaters) from the world, paid in BTC. A primary priority will be eliminating the major killers: the tse tse fly, mosquitos, and poisonous spiders. Collect donations once significant progress has been made to continue making the world more pleasant. We'll eventually move on to poisonous small animals (snakes, frogs), then start a global project to kill off all wild deer and have them contained in specialized ranches, which will save thousands of human lives before we go for the final operation: eliminating jellyfish (quit pissin' on my leg, dad - goddammit!) and all dangerous-to-humans, non-essential sea creatures.

No other animals bother me that I can think of. Our exterminators will be paramilitary in case Greenpeace shows up.

Nope, I will convert the fiat back to BTC. I will probably keep 25% forever. The rest I may sell at some point in the near future, or keep for a much longer period depending on market conditions. But you never gave me that choice. The only option you gave that would give me immediate control of the fiat/BTC and allow me to do whatever I wish from that point on was the option to sell the BTC immediately.

"I will switch to fiat immediately" > maybe you don't believe in bitcoin

Or maybe you still basically can't buy jack shit with bitcoin? I'm just being honest here. Like it or not, btc is still basically just an investment vehicle and anyone who keeps all of their capital in one narrow investment is begging for trouble. Diversification = not losing all your money one day because of a random negative event.

Holy shit! We have MOSQUITO LASER AUTO-TURRETS! That may be even cooler than Bitcoin.

Assuming 500 average dead per day per $50 unit, with a $50M investment, we could be knocking off ~500M mosquitoes per day, or >182B mosquitoes per year. Guesstimates on global mosquito population vary wildly, but it looks like it's somewhere between 100T-1Q, with an estimated annual birthrate of ~200B-1T. Combined with already-used pesticides (another everything-killer which can be put out of commission), our unfortunate flying friends who eat the mosquitoes, and a much bigger investment ($50M for 600k-3M human lives per year is crazy-greedy -- it'd probably be more like a $1-5T investment), we have a pretty solid chance of eliminating mosquitoes within a few decades with a rapid decrease in population as soon as units are produced in mass-scale.

I'd guess mosquitoes make for decent compost, too. I wonder if you'd end up with a noticeable giant blood stain if it were set up over asphalt...

I'm changing my answer to mosquito laser purchases and NPO funding for mosquito lasers.

ETA: Numbers are way off and can't really be measured per annum. Birthrate must be way higher given mosquitoes only live ~3-100 days.

Selling 10,000 BTC immediately would probably crash the price.

I would give away almost half (OK closer to 30%) because giving them away would be a blast and I would owe less taxes.  :)
Then, ~30% into cash and the rest stays in BTC and alts.

Keep the rest until btc has been adopted worldwide...or is worthless :D

Honestly since there's only 3 options, I'd do B or convert to fiat when it reaches $1000.  I could always re-invest back to BTC, but also take care of any bills, debt, family I have immediately.

If there was a half/half choice, I would really pick that.  Half Fiat/Half BTC.

I will invest half in something big (online) and exchange the other half and invest them too (real life) :).

Most mosquitoes over 95 days old have a horrible life:
Sitting all day in an old mosquitoes nursing home just drooling and watching TV.

Then die a slow painful death due to weight related diseases.

I hope I never get 10000 BTC

1btc for 1000$ for sure. But I guess at point when it will be 1k$ i will be able to buy most of stuff I need for bitcoin so I probably won't need fiat any more.

You are retarded if you think you can convert that amount to FIAT without being taxed most of it or going to jail.

Bitcoin doesn't have to be converted back to FIAT.
