Hi everyone what best coin to invest and why? Your suggestions are very much welcome.

IMO don't waste your time with altcoins - stick to BTC and possibly LTC and you should be fine. Just buy some now and come back in ten years when the price has appreciated/BTC is an accepted form of payment. Trust me the rest of the alts are fads; they won't be here in a year.

Bitcoin is the safest bet. If you want to go for alt coins I'd buy Litecoins or Blackcoins.

Buy Bitcoins and 3-5 another cryptocurrencies. The chance that all of them at once will go to the bottom is very unlikely.

Just go to poolwarz to get a comparison rate for every alt coin.

Alt coin should just be a hobby since bitcoin is the main coin.

Best thing would be to invest in bitcoins. Altcoins are pure  gamble , if you buy the right altcoin at right time , you can make lots of money .But risks are equal , you can lose money easily  with scam coins.

This should be noted. Most people think, like the doge coin will go up like bitcoin.. which sounds absurd.

Don't waste your time and money on altcoins. Buy Bitcoin and wait for next big rise or trade with USD.

Ignore altcoins, BTC is the way to go imo, but you can't expect to "get rich quick". You'll probably have to hold it for quite some time to be able to make a profit.

We should get growing BTC daily, that's good for future , if BTC gets high value

Invest 100% in Bitcoin only. Other shitcoins (such as Ripple, Doge and Namecoin) have value only because of Bitcoin. If the Bitcoin value decline, the shitcoin value also decline. Also, with the China Bust, it is clear that the shitcoin era is over. So be loyal to Bitcoin, and invest in Bitcoin.

alts are only speculative vehicles without any utility.

I know some newbies are attracted to them hoping they will produce growth comparable to btc but mostly they end up ripped off.

Don't waste money on altcoins or crypto stocks. If you cannot mine an alt or get it free then don't bother with it.

I don't think it is wise to go 100% all in on Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a gamble just like altcoins (arguably maybe less so).

In this case, one would want to invest in Bitcoin-related services or products that will utilize Bitcoin's tech.

I see next generation crypto platforms like Nxt, Counterparty, Etherium as being a safer bet than just Bitcoin itself. If you are not interested in these then just wait for new projects involving parallel Bitcoin chains to come around.

If you want to make legit money you aren't going to get rich wit BTC, you missed the boat.
Your best bet is other decent coins like Blackcoin which have more potential to grow than BTC.

Bitcoin and NXT

I wouldn't have the patience to wait 10 years, and it's not necessary if you're just looking to make profit. Wont take more than a few months before you can sell with a couple hundred dollars profit per coin.

NEM - just take a look in that big community - its all I have to say  ;)

Yep, BTC for the solid (ish) backbone to your portfolio, NXT for the innovative gamble. (tho I don't really see NXT as a gamble any more, I know whats coming up.....)

NEM looks good for the founders, nice distro, but I don't know if has serious long-term potential. Time will tell, I'm fairly certain NEM will go nuclear when it launches.

My prediction for 2014 is the death of LTC. I got out 3/4 months ago and haven't regretted it yet.

For the rest:  look for something with at least a little bit of innovation, make sure that there is a real dev team and community backing in place. Maybe half (or more) of the alts on conmarketcap are just backed up by one sweaty dude in a basement somewhere. (or a raving lunatic...check Marinecoin.)
A coin won't get anywhere these days without a supportive community at least, see Doge for a perfect example.

also when i think of investing i think of having little interest in watching market prices non stop and investing long term with no time limit.
flipping any coins short term with out regard to what one etc. is not investing lol

It's undeniable that there's a ton of money to be made in alts. Whether you get a cut of it is mainly down to luck, timing or being behind the whole thing.

It's a fun distraction with a potentially huge upside. They'll be with us for a long time to come.

So far, it's been quite constant with BTC pricing. I agree on threading carefuly in choosing alt coins...I got burned with Coinye and Lottocoin in the past. Expensive lesson. :(

Fluttercoin (FLT)

The best investment in 2014 you can do is NEM.

The second best maybe EXO-coin or NXTL.

I believe in EXO a bit more than in NXTL but thats just a feeling.

Nevertheless those both haven't got released, so you can buy many coins for low prices after its release.

Nem is vaporware and has no distinct advantage over NXT.  Nem's "innovative" features like PoI are unfeasible.

I don't get why people who are really interested in NXT's feature set purchase a clone.  They should just buy NXT.

The best bet is to not invest in any at all. take at least a month of reading and getting used to this world. ask all the questions you have and never get "an inside tip"

I suppose people feel like the 'missed the train' with NXT which is silly with its tiny market cap and coins valued at 2.5 cents! I'm all for it for now, I want to get a couple hundred thousand NXT so if people want to throw away money on crappy clones it's better for me! :)

Cinni is the next BC, feel free to take a look at it! It just got out of PoW and now is purely PoS. It is currently only 1/50th of BC's market cap. It's heading one direction. Take a guess!

you can´t invest in them. you have to wai months and the IPOs are over.
Until then buy NXT, NXT and nothing else then NXT.

Do you think that BTC has value while it's mined ? Mining is a wast of time, energy and hardware. It's like grabbing a gap and fil it. It doesn't make sense.

Only Altcoin I would hold is Dogecoin. Stick to BTC.

Litecoin is the first coin with different algorithm. Other altcoins are just bad clones. Litecoin is supposed to replace silver, as Bitcoin replaces gold. It definitely has value.

Not true. The first altcoin to introduce scrypt was Tenebrix.
What you call "algorithm" is called: blockheader hashing function (bitcoin and it's clones use hashing functions for other purposes as well). All other hashing functions being used by Litecoin are the same as in Bitcoin.
LItecoin is nothing more than Bitcoin #9.

I disagree. Coins have value because of what the community does with it. If everyone bails on Bitcoin for whatever reason, people will still want to use Dogecoin to tip on reddit, and take part in a fun micro-economy. There's no reason that a Bitcoin crash would crash the legit altcoins.

The fact that litecoin was first is in no way a guarantee that people will continue to use it, a few coins have a bigger and more active community than litecoin has, and yet for irrational reasons, their value is below for now.

Don't let history repeat itself.

BC is another clonecoin Pump and the initial phase is not fair, short PoW period causes only those who have good equipment get coins.

I like fluttercoin as well.  It's pretty much bottomed out right now, so there is low risk in investing, a couple of BTC should be fine.  An active and knowledgable dev team, and introduces Proof of Transaction (PoT).

There's a chance with every transaction to be rewarded with free PoT.  Think of it as PoS but with spending.  It still also has PoW and PoS to strengthen the blockchain and secure the network.

If you're looking to invest you should diversify anyway and a couple of BTC in FLT wouldn't hurt.

I loved Cryptometh and MyriadCoin.

The Keccak and Myriad-Groestl (Groetsl 512) work very fine on my R9 290.

Myriad and Keccak are more efficient than scrypt.

One of the small market coins could pay off if you are day trader.  They can fluctuate heavily in market price, some have risen up to 80% today. You may want to look on coinmarketcap.com (http://coinmarketcap.com)

For long term, I think a big market cap is neccesary. Bitcoin currently has the highest market cap 90% of the total market.

And there's Gridcoin too, provinding a huge amount of computer power to Berkeley's BOINC scientific infrastructure.

Everyone should have some BTC, just in case an outlier event occurs where it becomes the New World Currency..  No need to diversify into other cyptocurrencies...  Now Bitcoin 2.0 are another story.  That is up for grabs and I would monitor a bunch of them..

Monero, XC, Darkcoin should be invested. If the coin is not innovative then don't waste your time and money on them.
