If you want to have a coin named after a famous person, why not choose a historical figure? Otherwise you're just using someone's name and likeness without their permission for purposes they haven't signed off on.
You know, in regards to Colbert Coin, Colbert has his own resources and I'm sure if he wanted to make a coin he could figure out how and get together some people to do it. They should have just asked him to make one instead of creating one for him. They took the opportunity away from him. In addition a lot of historical persons are a bit controversial. E.g. Julius Caesar was a great military leader, a reformist and a notable author, a hero for Rome. But his troops killed about 1 million and enslaved an other million ppl in Gaul, (around 50 BC the world population was something like 200 million, so two million was a really huge lot of people). He also ruthlessly suppressed his opposition at home, and had an extensive cult of personality. For such "exploits" nowadays he would be labelled as one of the worst villains in human history, something like Hitler or Stalin. Most of the time, these coins do not have a real product backing up their value leaving fans who actually buy these coins spending money for no real reason.
