Title: How has Harry Potter infiltrated your daily life?
Post by: torr on April 22, 2014, 02:42:30 PM
As someone who has read the series numerous times and re-watches the movies far more than I'd like to admit, I find silly little things have popped up in my everyday life - for instance, I now call plumbers "pumbles," I can't hear the word trolley without following up with "anything from the trolley" and when someone makes a good joke/comment I can't help but say in my best Malfoy voice, "good one, Goyle."

So tell me, how has your Harry Potter love manifested itself in your every day life?

I'm in love with Emma Watson

I'm in love with Luna Lovegood ;)

Seriously, Harry Potter has contributed in teaching me how important it is to question authority. The part when the young wizards make a secret organization to rebel against the corrupted ministry of magic is awesome.

Well that was unexpected... I doubt that someone is taking Harry Potter story seriously and trying to implement stuff from there in his life.

If you think that fictionals stories don't influence the lives of those who take part in them, you suffer from a serious lack of imagination.

You don't have to wait for that Hogwarts acceptance letter to start learning a little magic ... but you might have to wait for the spring term to start taking courses at Hogwarts Online. Sign up for this virtual school and be sorted into your House, get a Gringott's vault and begin your magical education with classes like Basic Defensive Magic, Dragon Keeping and Household Potions...

Couldn't care less about Harry, I watched the movies but didn't enjoy them much. Never read the books, there are many better ones.

How can you know if you've never read them?

I never really cared for the books. They were enjoyable but vastly overrated. I've only seen the first film. I want to watch them all again though, especially the ones with Gary Oldman in.

I've only watched the first two or tree movies, and stopped because of it was becoming more and more ridiculous, Maybe also moving from teenage to adulthood has also something to do with it, But I respect the fact that you like the books and the movie, I might give the movie another shot and try to finish them all a Sunday afternoon

In one evening? There's like 8 of them or something or do you mean the remaining ones you havent seen.. Most films I've ever watched in a day was three and it's exhausting.

I watched four once but you do feel drained after. It's not uncommon for me to watch two films back to back and even that can be tiring. Not good to sit in front of tv continually for that long especially without breaks either.

I saw the movies and they were boring, didn't like the story or the style, they were too childish, so I decided books would be a waste of time, especially that I have other things to read.

I read all the books and watched all the movies, but it hasn't infiltrated my daily life at all, unless you count wanting to write a phenomenal series like JK Rowling and earning all that money from the royalties and movies and products.
