All antivirus are the same. The tests show one is better than an other depending on how much they've been payed.

I use an antivirus + a firewall + spybot + Firefox (with NoScript)

yeah I'm concerned with my privacy using avast after reading an interesting review about it few weeks ago.  The free service is slowing down my pc when it updates and it is beyond annoying.  I'm gonna have to figure out what I want soon with all the news these days about security.

I keep using it all the time and it's not slowing down my computer. I think even free version gives enough security. I don't really have any problem.

Common Sense. I'm sorry for those who don't have much as they can't buy it off the shelf in a nice retail box.

Seriously though, no amount of software is going to help you if you don't have common sense. I've heard of many security pros who don't bother with antivirus suites and the likes because they don't go around running random scripts, downloading and executing unknown executables on an admin account and so fourth.

There is no linux-compatible versions for Battlefield 4 or Titanfall. A lot of other softwares are not compatible with Linux. If you are using your PC just to browse, then Linux is OK. But other than that, Windows is a must.

First you can play many games on Linux thanks to Wine and related program/script.
Secondly, Windows monopoly for video games won't last long but you must know it.

for me Norton 360 is best, never had any issue with that.

Norton always been the worse antivirus. It is considered a virus in itself because it makes the machine cripple.

Linux is much better than any other antivirus and security software .

Linux is great but it doesn't protect against virus/trojan/malware that you catch from an Internet browser.
Most Bitcoin trojan/keyloggers are cached from the browser.

The best security for browsing Internet is to use Firefox with NoScript (http://noscript.net/) and learn how to use it. Edward Snowden use it.

I'm pretty sure I can run a machine without a single antivirus or program without any issue, it's all about practices, I protect my self, because in some rare occasions, I download some files from untrusted source, a book in PDF format, a software I want to try, some altcoin client ect ect, hence you want to have a sandbox, and antivirus to be safe in some cases, and the software I mentioned previously are doing just fine for me, the last time I had a virus was in 2004 and then it was my fault for downloading a crap ton of garbage and installing it at the time

Exactly this. I am using Avast for a long time. Never had any problems with it. It is not intrusive. Does work done and by any means slows your PC. If you having problems it mus be something more than avast to cause that behaviour.

Your security is on high level. Even if you use free Avast and free Comodo, those are one of best free programs on internet with best free computer antivirus and firewall protection, sometimes even better than some full programs for computer protection.

If you run Windows 7 (or later) with a standard user account (non-admin), You're blocking 99% of malware already. Any malware will need admin access to infect your computer. You must be careful before providing admin access to new programs you don't trust yet, and you'll be fine.

best is to use linux OS.
if you choose windows use avast and a good firewall, however i would never use that OS when i trade or store btc.
(Be paranoid, use always paper wallets)

Security is determined by the administrator, not by what software you have installed.

true, recently a friend of mine had the bitcointalk account hacked.  He is very skilled but he made a naive mistake that compromised all the security settings.

As soon as the market share is big for Ubuntu, hackers will target the platform and find way to exploit it.

I tend to agree. However, I imagine if most of the world switched from Windows to Linux/Unix, those systems would be targeted far more often with malicious attacks than they are now.

It's much harder to target a Linux box. Mainly because most people install software only from a pre-burned DVD or CD.

All-in-one computer security software protects multiple devices with a single product. The advantages to buying such bundles are manifold. They cost less than the sum of their individual parts. You have one subscription-renewal date. You have one vendor to deal with that shoulders the integration burden

here are some of the best

Bitdefender Sphere, Norton 360 Multi-Device and Kaspersky Internet Security Multi-Device

Last 5 years I used Pro versions antivirus like Eset and Kaspersky, downloading them via torrent and cracking its not a good way to protect your computer because its very possible they have keylogger in them. Now I have free avast what is enough for my needs and its work like a charm

Use Ios, everything being managed by Apple already.

That's a myth.

iOS is more secure because majority of the virus are targeted towards the most widely used operating system, Windows.

There have been malware for iOS and also Linux, but they're less in number because of the single reason that attackers want to attack majority of the users, so they attack mostly Windows.

True, but there are additional reasons.

Linux users generally don't need to go on the internet looking to download software from unknown sources, this reduces the risk to a high degree. The default dvds come with so much software, it would be an exception to download from an official repository.

Especially targeting Bitcoins.

IOS users never use antivirus and are not careful. It's a great target.

I don't think they're that expensive.

The price varies by country, but in USA a 2-year license of ESET Smart Security comes at $90. That's not very high.
And I'm sure the license in other countries is much cheaper than this.

altough I changed my IP, deleted cookies, deleted flash cookies, history etc.

can't find any reason except SandBoxie to get them banned :D
