Title: Idiots reversing funds on Skrill
Post by: Kith_ on April 24, 2014, 02:49:31 PM
So I sold BTC to someone on skrill, roughly £1,200.
He reversed the funds today, and here's the funny part:

1. Skrill didn't even bother letting me know...
2. Skrill put a hold on my account last Thursday, it was meant to be resolved then and there, but as usual they held out until today. So pretty much, if they had done their job, I'd still have my funds.
-> They also told me to wait 2 business days on my business account for a hold to be removed, it took them 47 days to follow that email up, every time I called it got 'escalated' again.

...
Annoyed, to say the least.

I did not know that was possible with Skrill.

I'm not an user but thanks for the heads up.

It sounds like the person you were dealing with was less of an idiot and more of a scammer.

I have never used Skrill (now I don't plan to ever). If the funds can get reversed what's the difference between it and Paypal. Is there no way now that you can get your money back?

I think the best way to go about trading BTC is use a trust worthy exchange or trade it here using an escrow.

Actually I'd love to know how he reversed it, I use Skrill all the time.

Guys, Skrill has always been reversible. Not a safe payment method for BTC.

The best way to sell BTC (if that is what you want to do) is to deal in cash in a public place.

This presents the least risk to you and keeps bitcoin decentralized.

Yes. But one has to be careful doing that too.

You are correct that cash in person is not risk free. But IMO a less number of people will try to scam you in person then will try to scam you on the internet.

You can use your judgment on if you think you should do business with the person once you meet them.

I'm also curious how somebody could reverse a payment in Skrill.

As I'm using them instead of PayPal because of my knowledge that this isn't possible by normal accounts. And only when you complain that your account is "hacked" and so on and so on.

The OP thought that skrill was not a reversible method

Skrill is nothing but a go-between just like paypal. You load your credit card info on there. Credit card companies hold the real power. Customer calls them and says they did not make purchase. They snatch the money from Skrill, Skrill snatches the money from you.

Bang bang.
