Those who don't have an avatar can't add one, and those who have an avatar can't remove or change it (though theymos can do it for you). If you have an avatar already, you could ask theymos nicely to remove it for you when he is free. Its been at least like a 1 year since that happened like someone mentioned. But, yeah its sucks what can you do? nothing..
