Over a 100 BTC plus countless altcoins have been stolen. In 1 transaction, 60 BTC stolen today here. The attack bypasses 2FA. You won't know your coins are gone until AFTER you hit withdrawal and you verify on the blockchain. using a computer to download untrusted malware, torrents, Trojans or any 3rd part program that has not been verified. is just as bad as using the signature strip of your debit card to write "my pin number: xxxx" if you have over $100 of bitcoin then think about these 3 options 1) spend $25 to buy a raspberry PI to be used ONLY for bitcoin transactions 2) spend nothing to secure your bitcoins and risk losing that $100+ 3) spend a bit of FIAT and only have legit programs on your PC, stop downloading free programs that have trojan risks Title: Re: how malware can be prevented in browser extensions Post by: MrBea on April 26, 2014, 03:44:41 AM Ok, I wasn't aware of this. That 60 divided into like maybe 6 offline wallets or of that like of 60 divided by 12, would have saved him/her from losing 50-55 bitcoins and using coinbase. And haven't people learned of online wallets? Another facepalm. Edit: Might lose some but not all. The amount people would save from not being scammed would give them more to donate to those helping them better understand how to operated safely online if you ask me.
