"Misty kept a large bitcoin stash in the safe upstairs, for emergencies."

Kickstarter:

Looks like a cool setting with classic gameplay feel, and Tim Schafer (Secret of Monkey Island, Full Throttle) vouches for Last Life pretty heavily. I, for one, am going to give them my support in this endeavor.

Cool. The mainstreaming of bitcoin is critical...

we need to stop getting hyped up that TV, games just mention bitcoin. and be thinking of getting game devs to actually USE bitcoin.

imagine it, instead of a product key. each download has a bitcoin public key that customers put funds into which then is used to allow customers to prove they did not download a illegal copy of the game, and also to pay for ingame items

It is being developed in Los Angeles, and the game is set in a Martian city.

Rename thread to Bitcoins found on Mars?

Also +1 for Tim Schafer, made some awesome games.

I can try imagining what Clark Kent and Lois Lane's babies would look like too: but what would be the point?

the point would be, no need for credit cards to buy expensive upgrade packs or ammo clips. you can simply spend satoshi dust to get little items.

why spend $5 to buy 100 ammo clips for instance. which for some kids means asking their parents for their credit card. were as kids can by 1 clip of ammo for 0.0001btc knowing he doesnt need to pester his parents or spend more then what is needed. and the game devs get lots of little payment instead of trying to tempt users to make one-off or irregular payments.

i know i have experienced it many times when a game asks for $5 for an upgrade pack containing 30 items. id rather just buy the single item for a few pennies, knowing i can repeat buy that item, rather then wasting larger sums

Bitcoiners helped raise $1500 in just 6 hours for this game. Wow! It has been on Kickstarter for almost two months and you guys really showed a lot of support. I can't wait to play the first game ever to use bitcoin as a currency.
