Most I ever spent in a single day was $900. I purchase often, though never for very much total money.
I tend to invest when I have some extra money in my bank account after all my expenses and investments for the month have been paid.

When it comes to crypto, I only put in what I can afford to lose should the whole thing tank. I do not believe it ever would, but I do understank the risk is possible.

$20,000 worth of BTC on some Cointerra units... regret it slightly but made back most.  Sold one now I'm sitting with my other trying to ensure I get in the black.

If you have invested a lot of cash, i dont think its likely that many post an accurate number. It is placing a target on your back.

Sorry you want to explain that?  Like for a hacker or spam or something?

So far, I have invested around $400 in Bitcoin (in 2013). Never put my hard cash in any altcoin, but I had converted some of my BTC (around 5%) to Litecoins a few months ago.

I took all my 15 btc at the 300 bux and as it soared to worldwide news coverage and hit 1200 bux, i sold em all for all these new coins coming out, like anoncoin, worldcoin, megacoin, litecoin (when it was 2 bux)...  It is such a weird thing to be talking in the past tense about it like a world far behind.  But it hasn't even been a year!

It has been a great time and I only played with money I could afford to lose.  Sorta side-point to this thread.  What's the most you've spent and - did you have a good time?   ;)

Hacker, scammer, it is also putting it in writing for the world to see (which is not good if you are very aggressive on your taxes).

someone I know very well spent $50,000 on BTC-E for Bitcoin and was a victim of "Selective-scamming" and sent the money to the given account in Europe and never heard back and was blocked and banned by admins for trying to gain attention in regards to the theft. His bank said he was SoL (it came from his a trust his parents setup for him for tuition and business investment needs)

This is why its very hard to trust Bitcoin exchanges, it's not easy to recover funds, especially when the person behind the theft knows that if someone is willing to 'risk' $50,000 on BTC they did it out of impulse or just have the luxury of spending money on potential risks, he should have asked his bank if he could somehow authorize the transaction because the other party did not meet the contract and perhaps an admin changed it to show a different account than the rest of the users who have successfully uploaded $ USD for Bitcoin on BTC-E, as myself, having sent $10,000 when Bitcoin was $100-$130 not too long ago.

Or kidnapping where the kidnapper does not have to risk being exposed for a money-drop.

That really, really sucks.   When I use BTC-E, I try to send smaller amounts, because I have heard several horror stories like this.   I have never had a problem there, but have heard many times of people losing their money in the system there, and then getting banned for trying to get to the bottom of it...

Bought about $1k a few times.  Fortunately wasn't looking for a quick profit because it a higher price than it is now.

I can almost guarantee you that there are not that many people buying 50k worth of BTC on a regular basis.  Maybe once in awhile...

I've spent about $300 dollars to this date... but keep in mind that is about 10% of my gross income last year.

Speaking of kidnapping, did you know that you can get life insurance that includes "ransom payments."   Since police don't typically negotiate with what they consider to be terrorists, they are usually more interested in capturing or killing the bad guy, rather than rescuing the kidnapped.

These insurance companies will just cough up the ransom money to bring loved ones home.
