After watching Death Note, it opened up a new sense for anime to me. I like to watch the more serious ones nowadays than the ones I watched when I was a kid like Naruto, One Piece, Shin-Chan, etc. :)

it's a nice anime just finished today

the recent fillers have been pretty good though. it's an arc that goes deeper into the kakashi/itachi/the wood style guy/minato etc. i forgot how funny younger naruto was. he's not nearly as funny now.

I've been told "Attack on Titan" is really good. You should check it out!!!

If you're into weird and unconventional animes, I'd recommend "Kaiba"
It's about a world where memory can easily be transposed from one body to another, and the art-style is amazing.

I saw, I do check the anime from time to time but didn't not following it episode by episode, when I have nothing to do/to watch I give it a look

I read somewhere it's been made promote manga, that's why they didn't reveal much, and will wait at least a year before releasing another.

I used to watch Naruto everyday... until I was 18 years or so.... Back then it was real fun.  ;D Then lost my taste for it. Hasn't watched any anime for more than a decade now.

Dragon Ball Z , i watched the full season and only anime that I watched .

Trigun (love the humor), full metal alchemist (nice graphics and humor), naruto (although at some point got me bored).

I used to watch A LOT animes back in the day. I still think that they surpassed any other form of animation from other countries. And anime's storytelling is just phenomenal. Now, however I switched to reading manga. I read like dozen of manga series series simultaneously from ultra known series like Naruto and One Piece to less known as Minamoto-kun Monogatari or Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro or Yongbi. Too many to count, really.

I never liked shonen; I can't help but facepalm every time someone announces their "special move".  I enjoyed Cowboy Bebop, FLCL and Akira.

I've watched just about anything, it depends on the mood that I'm in :D I tend not to watch the widely advertised crap like Naruto, Gintama etc. anymore because like with a lot of stuff the people who made it just refuse to end the fucking thing gracefully and churn out episode after episode :(

ghost in the shell was one of those legendary movies.. i remember a lot of hollywood producers/directors who were wowed by it - just a cartoon.

spirited away was pretty awesome too. those japanese people have the monopoly on non cgi animation.

Ghost in the shell is something that I have seen so many times .. it is pretty amazing even when you watch it today afters those years.

Anime from those times had something special in it.

I was, I can say that in the genres I like I watched everything up to mid 90s at some point, I used to watch at least one to two hours a day of anime a day, not it's more occasional, I just watch the anime of the season that looks interesting, I don't watch american series and stuff I guess that replace that

So yov've seen a lot of great anime movies perhaps! Indeed many anime series is much better than any other TV series.

I must say I do not watch anime series I like full length productions only :)

There are some amazing anime movies the ones that are not related to some anime series but full blown production, the movies that are related to series are OK but not amazing. There are some quality anime series that are 12 episodes long which equate more or less the length of a long movie :)

And DBZ is classed, I watched and rewatched 3 or more times, and there is an HD remake called DB Kai and they shortenered the Kame ha! that took episodes lol

I'm also looking forward to seeing a film called "Short Peace", and the new Ghibli/Hayao Miyazaki film "The Wind Rises", I am a sucker for the Ghibli stuff...

I tend to prefer full films to series, but there are some great series I've seen:

Death Note (So fucking cool)
Mushi-shi (this is so relaxing, and different to most other anime (cyberpunk, scifi) that I normally enjoy)
Attack on Titan (Bit too much talking, but otherwise great)
Berserk (Medieval style fantasy, good fun)
Full Metal Alchemist (Great story and characters, a nice change from the darker/disturbing anime)
Basilisk (Crazy ninjas with supernatural abilities fighting to the death)
Texhnolyze (dark dystopian business, great artwork, slow-paced but better for it)
Serial Experiments Lain (This is pretty abstract and slow, but very relevant to today's internet society)

I don't watch many animes nowadays since Ben 10 took my heart away (what's with the poetic language??) but I still like Ouran High school Host Club, Fate/Stay Night, Naruto (both the first one and Shippuden), and Yakitate Ja-pan

I watched that whole list excpect the food one I usually don't watch food anime, so I guess you stoped watching animes around 2008 more or less, it's similar to what I did my self, around that time I started watching less, but I used to watch tons of animes in the past, now is more like to keep with the new interesting ones

All of the animes almost have the same reason as to why I choose them except Full Metal Alchemist is a bit different. The other four are mainly characters with own unique powers that they create or achieve. And almost all of them have the same motive and that is showing courage to fight for justice, with purpose, and also there's some educational theme or information we can get from these animes in life, love and fight, which sometimes happen in our daily life. Full Metal Alchemist is a bit unique in its own way but the core reason is the same, fight for justice and purpose.

Currently rewatching Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. This is the sixth or seventh time. Still love it.

I currently watching onepiece, naruto and bleach.

I watch or try to watch everything in the season but it gets pretty hard so the three episodes rule can come in useful
Although sometimes if I have time I tend to watch more than that to get a feel for it
Example Tiger and Bunny was a really good series but three episodes in was pretty boring took 6 to 7 episodes to really start picking up

In my opinion. Hunter x Hunter is the best anime. you should watch that it's currently going episode 130.

the original was good, as for the most recent season I didn't like it at much or at least the beginning and didn't watch it

The two I've liked the most so far have been Death Note and Code Geass  but some other good ones include Yuyu Hakusho, Dragon Ball, Samurai Champloo, Spice and Wolf, Eden of the East, Sekirei, Welcome to the N.H.K., Trigun and a bunch of different movies from Studio Ghibli.

Dawhut? Fullmetal Alchemist was shit. The plot was illogical and I hated that they didn't stick to the manga. Which is why I like Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood a lot more.

That might be true in your opinion, but I haven't found any anime that could compete with FMA:B. I mean, I cry at every sad scene, even after rewatching it so many times. It just moves me a lot more then any anime has ever done.

All time favorite? Easily Neon Genesis Evangelion, with the 2 OVAs at the end, and none of the rebuild stuff. Other than that, FLCL was also pretty memorable, though I just had to watch it once with the director's comments to get what was going on in there. ;D

EDIT: at the moment I don't have that much time for anime, but I started watching Gintama, which someone in this forum (I forget who) told me about. Pretty fun stuff in there.

I Forgot about Kenshin, that's another good one.

The deathnote and everything from Hayao Miyazaki. That's all for me. I get bored easily while watching a movie anime etc. Not that I've tried to watch many in general.

Hayao Miyazaki's movies if you haven't watched them already. They're masterpieces. To me it's the best of anime.

But overall it doesn't seem to be that well liked. If you like sci-fi and haven't watched it, try Ghost in the Shell, Code Geass, or if you're feeling courageous, Evangelion.

Crude and realistic story; a deserter ninja is forced to wanderer constantly pursued by his clan's assassins.
He has to mistrust everybody in order to escape death and slowly becames paranoid ...

Well, the animation and the drawings can't be compared at all to the actual standard (it comes from '60  :D), but the storyline is really intriguing.

Last anime that I watched that was decent was Code Geass. FMA: Brotherhood was also pretty decent, but that's because I really like the idea of alchemy. Turn something into something else, and nothing is lost.

I believe Madoka is probably the “most perfect” anime there is.
Its visual aesthetic is creative and stunning, its soundtrack is powerful and evocative, and it tells a gripping, smartly composed story of friendship, sacrifice, the tragic cycles of living, and the greater spirit of humanity.
Its narrative and thematic elements lock into place like a perfectly crafted music box, and yet it still leaves room for rich interpretation.

None lol, I personally hate anime. You have to have a certain taste of television to watch it.

How so? The themes are pretty diverse, from comedies to psychological horror shows, passing through everything in-between. The only thing anime has as a distinct feature from any other type of animation is the fact that it's made in Japan.

If you like to see any series/movies at all, I'm sure there are a couple anime/OVA that you would like. :P

The creators of "Attack on titan" they are not sure if are going to create another season, even the manga since March there's no new manga episodes. Really Sad, I recommend Sword Art Online isa really good anime.

Right now I'm busy watching Black Bullet and I sort of like it but nothing too awesome has happened yet.

I ended up being bored half the time I saw One Piece. While I think that it is funny and the combat sequences are great, it seems to me that they waste a lot of time with character specific episodes, that end up not really adding a lot (or in most cases, anything) to the global storyline, or sometimes even the episodes they are in. If they removed, or at least drastically reduced their number, they could easily halve the total episode count, which would leave an action packed anime, with a lot of humor, and an interesting storyline with interesting characters to boot.

I found Seitokai Yakuindomo to be a really refreshing comedy anime, partly because they don't have those really really stereotypical 'perfect' and 'cute' ( actually really annoying at times ) girls, oh and there's dirty jokes in it, lots and lots of dirty jokes, speaking of which.

I started watching Mushi-shi recently; it's interesting, and it kind of reminds me of xxxHolic (no, that's not pr0n). Still, it's quite slow, and at least as far as I've seen, has no greater story arc to speak of. Need to find something new, preferably with a great story with lots of twists and turns, interesting characters, and cool spaceships/mechs. ::)

I never watched any Anime, but i am open to try 1 of the best anime's you guys know!
So help me out watching my first good Anime, I would like a top 3 or something of the best anime's.
I know my friends are watching this stuff so maybe I can watch a cool 1 with your help.

It would be easier to make a recommendation if you share what you're into: sci-fi, comedy, historical, etc. Otherwise, even if people recommend something great, the type of which you don't like, you're not going to enjoy it.
