Title: What is the way forward from here?
Post by: mrflibblehat on April 30, 2014, 09:29:46 AM
I have a GPU Rig, just bough a new card actually and now Scrypt ASICS have come out, is it worth selling the rig and moving to ASIC or is it worth mining another algorithm altogether, is there a better algorithm for GPU's to mine that ASICs cant?

Will GPU mining become redundant one day?

Thanks for any help

MrF

Try Primecoin. It's almost 2x more profitable than Scrypt with our mining software.

You'll probably want to return the GPU if you still can. I don't think those alternate algorithm coins are very profitable now, let alone when everyone moves to them as more ASICS come online.

I will certainly give it a go. I dont want to get rid of my rig, I loves him so much :(

EDIT.... Primecoin is CPU Mining I think, Si I can still sell my rig for asics and mine primecoin at the same time!

Considering the guy you're replying to is named "primeGPU", and mentions their mining software, I'd think it's pretty safe to say that they have a way of mining Primecoin with GPUs.
