Hurray! Agreed. When a "reputable" company like Bloomberg takes notice of Bitcoin, it means they believe in it, and don't want to be left out.
Too bad its not available on the free app...

Big news gents, once the hedge funds see the huge volatility in BTC they'll fall in love.

Instead of whales with millions to play with, the hedge funds with billions could move the market 30-50% intraday.

Just saw this on Twitter..  Good news.   Now if we can just decide if it can coexist as a currency and investment security.

I don't think it will move the price.
Big players already know about bitcoin, they are possibly invested bigtime already.

good.

But they should add others exchanges with higher volumes, like bitstamp, btc-e, huobi, etc...

And I don't think this will have significative influence in the price, most ppl just don't know or use bloomberg.

this will be a good thing and get more investors onboard. so prepare for a price rise. just dont expect anything in the next 48 hours, as it takes atleast 2 days to get verified on exchanges

Bloomberg Professional service is limited to paid subscribers only, right? So unfortunately I won't be able to check the exchange rates. They should have made it available on the free service as well.  >:(

If you are just after the prices on your smartphone, tablet, use this one http://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/.

Check the symbol XBT vs USD, EUR, JPY... etc.
Also download available for black"bah"berry, android, etc. Custom currencies and charts.
Its not the best visually, but if works a charm.

Nope... Don't want to use XE. I really wanted to saw the images on the Bloomberg site itself. Seems like I'll have to wait for some more time, until some one posts the screenshots.

Note: Seems like someone had already posted it:

Hedge funds have known about bitcoin for a while now. Some have bitcoin positions.

When I talk to my clients about bitcoin and they ask to see the price, I've been showing the price at xe.com, a site they're familiar with, not bitstamp or kraken or another primary source. Bloomberg is even more well known than xe, so it's good to have another familiar choice to mention to them.

I view this as bullish for both short and long term.  Always nice to see it being accepted more and more.

How are people reacting to BTC lately?
I know MtGox did huge damage:
Do you get people who think BTC went bankrupt, and how about positive reactions?

I'm glad you ask this.
My clients are not necessarily a representative sample of bitcoin users, but it is interesting to note their perceptions of bitcoin. I have investment businesses in several different countries, and each business offers services related to bitcoin—although I do not advertise as such and rely upon word-of-mouth among my client base. All of my clients are either accredited investors (https://www.sec.gov/answers/accred.htm) such as fund-of-fund managers or high-net worth professionals, such corporate attorneys, surgeons, and industrial engineers.

Although they are very interested in bitcoin and are beginning to better understand it, I encounter these perceptions above all others:

1) Bitcoin is functionally broken or financially broke because of MtGox, so there's no point in using bitcoins anymore.  'I missed the boat.'

2) Satoshi is a Japanese guy that may be Dorian.  'He just invented Bitcoin to make himself rich, so I why should I get involved?'

3) Silk Road was some sort of black market website that was shut down, but criminals still prefer bitcoins instead of dollars. 'I don't want to get involved with crime.'

4) The Winklevoss twins are trying to take Bitcoin mainstream, but they're failing.  'If they can't do it, then why should I bother with bitcoin?'

5) Bitcoins have no inherent value.  'Buffett said so.'

6) Bitcoin is a ponzi scheme.  'Or at least a pyramid scheme. Money comes from the government, anything else is a scam.'

These perceptions are slowly changing, but education about bitcoin is still an enormous hurdle.

I think far more people would use bitcoin if it were better understood.

Pros use Bloomberg terminals, so this is very good news for Bitcoin.

Wow, great news.
It's nice seeing more and more big name businesses accepting btc.
I'd love to see a big name box retail store accept btc as a payments source.

But still not many people will know of this feature and big woop if a company adds the prices of bitcoin.

Bloomberg adding bitcoin is actually important, since professional traders and money managers usually have access to a bloomberg terminal, and bloomberg does a good job of keeping its subscribers up-to-date on new features. Indeed only a very small number of people will notice this change and see it firsthand, but those few people make decisions that involve enormous sums of money.

Love it, Bloomberg adding it is a function is a great thing.  More exposure, more positive news, one closer step to legitimacy in the eyes of the "regular investor".

Doesn't get more legitimate than Bloomberg.

Yes, insofar as their being exposed to bitcoin will now be in a medium they are familiar with and have confidence in. At the last hedge funds conference I attended, everyone I spoke to already knew about bitcoin, but they weren't sure how seriously to take it. Some were open-minded, others were skeptical. (Three years ago, the same fund managers had never heard of bitcoin.) Bloomberg, whatever one may think of their shortcomings, does lend indeed credibility to bitcoin.
