Title: [AUCTION] The Million Bitcoin Hompage
Post by: The_Fly on May 01, 2014, 05:54:13 PM
Selling: The Million Bitcoin Homepage

Description:

You are bidding for https://the-million-bitcoin-homepage.com/ - a pixel advertising site with a difference.

Unlike all the other pixel advertising sites currently out there we have instead focused on giving a rich UX, with a zoom-able map, a custom payment system with instant notifications, and real-time updates when blocks are added to the grid (including real-time stats for click-throughs).

The winning bidder will receive 100% profits that the site generates, the current domain name, SSL certificates and an additional (currently unused) domain http://thebitcoinhomepage.com/

A transfer of the server instance (as an Amazon AMI) including the codebase can be negotiated for an additional price.

Starting bid: 10BTC

End date and time: Midnight (UTC) on the 9th May 2014

Payment methods accepted: Bitcoin

Additional information: Along with the purchase of the site I am also offering my services as a full stack developer to add additional features or implement modifications at your request once an agreed rate is set on the deliverables.

Happy bidding :)

No offence and sorry for the offtopic. 10 BTC ? for a simple website that can be purchased for 30 $ ?

No offence taken. Constructive criticism is always welcome.

If you took a look, and went through the user path of creating a block, you might have noticed this is very different from the other pixel sites. As mentioned in the description above it comes with its own payment processing system and all interactions are "real-time".

e.g. user creates block, every users sees update without page refresh

or... user deposits funds, instant notification upon receipt, then upon confirmation, etc.

or... user clicks (or visits) block, all users see this via an icon (and view/visit stats updated)

None of the other sites offer a zoomable map, which is one of the key mechanics which makes this site stand out, since users will have to compete for attention at the larger zoom levels (And thus buy bigger blocks).

It needs better PR, a rebrand and some design work. I have a personal connection to the guy who created the original Million Dollar HomePage, and if I can find some way of reaching him then a quick mention of the site would do it some good.

Good luck with your sale. I still think that 10BTC is overpriced.

Under priced, the buyer is getting the most unique pixel advertising site there is, on the entire internet... this isn't your average carbon copy by any means.

if it is so unique why are you selling it then?

I'm about to take on other responsibilities and wont have time to work on it at all. I can either keep it or someone else can take it, extend it and promote it better than I know how to.

I am interested and will most likely place my bid later in the week.  It is my bed time and no time to be making rushed decisions.

I like the site and have a few blocks for my IRL business.  :)

Okay, sounds good.

If there are no bids by mid-day (BST) on the 9th I'll extend the auction for another week, if anyone makes a bid before then then the original end date stands.

Private bids also welcome. PM them through.

Thanks.
