Like the subject says, I think I'm addicted to price checking.
It's exiting, it feels like being a drug/gamble addict.

I already wrote off all my BTC for being worthless because I see it as an experiment.
I think it is like putting money on red at the roulette and wait for it to be zero or infinite.

If it becomes zero, I had a hell of a good time being part of the scene.

I was addicted back a few month when it had risen a lot and when I was setting up my mining facility.
Now I check every few days/weeks.

I check around once a month just to note the general trend. I'm not so invested that I constantly have to worry about the price - my expectation is that it should go up in the long term so I'm not concerned with short term shifts.

I check always when i wake up.  ;D

For your purpose I moved "never" to the bottom since there were no votes on it yet and replaced it for once a month.

There has been times (march 2013) that I woke up in the middle of the night to take a leak and could not resist.

It's easy to check on a smartphone since I sleep next to it. It takes a few seconds and back to bed.

I check preev.com once every couple of days.

I have a Coinbase price app for my cell phone so I see it all the time.  It can be very addicting, especially when the price is rising. ;)

How can people say they check once a month/ once a week when they come on BCT everyday where the price is often discussed or at least mentioned.

The last two weeks it's been much easier to not check often, since t market is so slow.

I check once a week for a daily top up of information and news too. Everyday is too often..

I dont care much about the exact price, but I do find it interesting to see what the market is doing (showing strength/weakness, chart patterns etc).

Half of my work day consists of being in front of a computer, so I have the charts just open at all times on one of the tabs.   I am not sure how many times I check it daily, but it is too many I am sure.

bitcoin fever can be quite unhealthy.. it's like you lose control of your mind and give in to your impulses. when i reach that point, i just take a break.. or at least try to.

BTC is also so easy to buy nowadays with basically just the click of a button, so it is easy to keep buying more and more

i'm not even talking about buying more.. just the constant checking of the prices. and even posting on here.

For the past 2-3 weeks, I am checking the price of BTC every 15 minutes or so. I lost my full time job last month. So right now, I am converting some of my coins to fiat, just to survive.  :(

I don't know why I even check the prices so frequently because I am not day trading or selling any coins. I try to buy on the dips but lately Im just sticking to my holdings

No, it is not the price. I'm sure.
It is the exitement of being involved.
I already wrote off my bitcoin holdings as being worthless.
It feels like being part of the biggest, most important experiment known to mankind ever.
It feels like a privilege. It feels like being part of something people will talk about in 5000 years from now on.
Just like the people who build the pyramids. They knew it was something big, they knew it was going to last for thousands of years.
They could never imagine their pyramid was going to be printed as a symbol on a piece of paper, representing something of value thousands of years later (1 usd note).

Owning (and understanding) bitcoin feels like being part of a new religion.
The price tells me roughly how many other people agree with this feeling.
I even know about anti bitcoin people who own bitcoin them selfs (BIG LOL!!!!).
Even they can't deny the truth.
Even they are checking the price.

I have enough where it would sting if BTC and LTC crashed completely, but not enough to where I would be ruined if it happened.

you may be in it just for the ride, but based at least on my observations, a lot of people are in it just for the money. greed is natural. and i think it'll only get worse the bigger bitcoin gets. the guys who are not greedy will sit by and not really do that much, while the hungry guys climb to the top and use bitcoin to squeeze every bit out of bitcoin.

I'm happy to see I'm not crazy obsessive, as my vote (2-8 times a day) was the most common vote.
I was starting to get worried I am spending too much of my time with btc.

There's no need to check obsessively because a smartphone app with alerts set will warn when it may be worth selling/buying.


They get paid a tiny amount to do it, and in return sacrifice their credibility and the readability of their posts. It encourages them to post often, even when they have nothing useful to say.

I used to do this every 5 minits or so with my phone, but I am trying to take some distance from checking and checking and checking.

My goal is every 30 minits or so, can't help this. I also own stocks, but in the stock market you have in the weekends a few days off lol. So you don't have to check each time  ;D

Actually I never thought about how often i check Bitcoin price but after this thread I found myself checking at least 2  to 8 or more times a day. I have tabbed preev.com on my firefox and It takes only 2 secs to check It But i wouldn't call that addiction It's just like automated thing to do while surfing this forum or just on the internet. I'm sure i could handle It without checking the price so often  :P

i've already checked once today, probably a few more times. much better than how it was during the last bull run. i was probably checking 50 times a day.

Use to be in the 2-8 category, but not so much anymore. I'm not a day trader anyway, I'm buy as much as I can and keep it. I believe a LOT in Bitcoin longterm, the idea is just too good and too hard to stop. And I understand that the price will continue to swing wildly at least until we go from the innovator to the early adopters phase.

Before I lost my coins on gox I used to check 2 - 8 times a day hoping the price had gone up. Now I check about once a day hoping the price has come down, so I can buy some more.

I'd say once a day I peep at Bitcoinwisdom, but I'll get it shoved down my throat on several crypto sites.  Primarily Coindesk.

When my OCD is coming out I check it once a minute lol. But i guess I don't have enough vested in it ATM to check it regularly.

It's fun to watch the price action but not nearly as fun as when the price was almost always going up!  Once China stops banning bitcoin every week maybe we can set new highs.

I'm much more addicted to being connected to all the brilliant minds on these forums than I am in the fiat exchange value of Bitcoin.

That said, I do have bitcoinwisdom as a homepage tab. The reason we check is because we're waiting for something we all know is coming.

I bought a second monitor so I could always watch it, I'll glance over every 2 minutes or so. 

My ex has serious issues blowing money.

I've got a budget plan worked out for him (because we're remarrying here shortly) that allots him X amount to gamble with. Only instead of casinos and dogs, I'm setting up a bitcoin trading account for him to get into day trading when he gets the craving to lose money...because I recognize once he understands it better, he'll find this far more potentially lucrative and doable than trying to beat the House and will enjoy it more...

Meanwhile, I'll be making my own investments over time and setting it aside for the long haul.  ;D

I especially look forward to watching him obsessively reloading bitcointicker and bitcoinwisdom over and over and over  ;D

Ofc we are addicted , also, to many of us, this is a daily routine.
Sometimes my wife screams at me, what am i doing all day looking at "those lines and bars" spread across at 2 monitos, and im like;

I have this android app called Bitcoin Paranoid. Gives me an updated price every 15 minutes.

I do not check the price purposely, I neither have a need or a persistent want to continue to check the price, but I can easily see it throughout the day as most of the sites I visit have it posted somehwere. As a miner its price doesnt bother me at all. if it drops back down to 30 dollars a coin Fine if it jumps up to 1500 a coin even better for me. Watching that price is both counterproductive and will not increase its numbers, doing something usefull that promotes a vast use of the coin is what will raise that value, and I have a plan for that if I can get there fast enough :) Once implemented, many will follow suite and the coin value will triple in a months time. Honestly I am surprised no one has done it yet. :)

People are going crazy to checking BTC price..I'm very happy that people are so mad about bitcoin. I think they r checking 4-6 times once an hour.

If it would JUST be stable over $1000 usd I think I'd be OK...again the is if it bounced around between $1100 and 1400 but never below 1000 usd...something like that.

I think $1000 usd would be my security blanket (I got in when it was at $150 and with miners if it drops below $300 I be a crying in then my investment starts to puke out)

I tend to check once a day. If I see the price is decent, I'll buy a little bit...usually 4-5 times month.
Like most people, I have a target I'd like to hold at some point. Once I hit that, I'm guess I'll play the alt-markets a little. As of now, I'm nearly 100% in btc for my crypto.

I only check when there are lot of people talking about prices, maybe once in a week or two. I am not a regular exchanger..

I have an app on my phone that alerts me if there's a spike in price (+10%). Otherwise I see the price any time I check my phone, it's right there in the homescreen anyway.

Not nearly as much as I used to be. The volatility is so much lower than before, when things get more exciting my "addiction" might come back again. Hopefully, later this year things will pick up a lot.

I always have preev open in a tab to easily check the price.

Indeed, the same is with me. Before I was actively trading all the coins, the volatility was much higher and i keep refreshing bitstamp the whole day.
But now I tend to check the price every now and then when I'm interested. I do not have time to trade it either.
Maybe once the next rally starts I'll be checking it as much as I used to.

I do not watch the price so often anymore, used to check it many times per day. These days I know bitcoin will do well in a few years, so no reason to worry  :)

I think there is a legit mental illness for this. It's like the chicken experiment where the chicken doesn't stop looking through a hole to see if there is any new food. They develop a tick. This is the same, you check all the time to release dopamine in hopes of finding new gains. This would be cool if we weren on this fucking downtrend from hell. I wish I had the courage to not look ever again until 1 year to find out i've made some decent gains at last.

But seriously I don't check the price very often to the point where it is unhealthy or anything.  It is just part of my day to day to check the price out of curiosity when I'm trading coins, or thinking about buying something, so there.  :P

Every time i go to the bathroom i check social networks and bitcoi price of cource. Also right after i wake up and before going to bed... and when i'm on a bus or taxi.... i guess i'm pretty addicted. :-[

Way back when I voted, it was 2-8 times a day.
It seems to have lost the novelty a bit for me...I[m now down to once daily, sometimes even once every other day.
(My wife feels this is a massive improvement.  :D )

I must check at least 2 - 3 times a day if I am honest sometimes more if I am not busy doing other stuff and it just happens to pop into my head to check it. It can sometimes seem like an addiction I will admit but I do believe that I could not check it at least for a day or so...I think :D

Id like to not check the price but i find it impossible to interact in bitcoin communications without getting the price flashing up.  You go on twitter and someone is tweeting it, you read something on coindesk and its in the head banner etc etc.
