Title: Programmer for hire for simple python/bash scripting jobs
Post by: Vitalik Buterin on April 16, 2011, 07:21:29 PM
Hi, I'm a python/bash script monkey and if you have any scripting tasks that I could get done quickly I'm willing to do them for a small fee. Example scripting tasks include:

  • Changing the 'title' metadata of every song in a directory with the song's filename, minus the extension
  • Printing out weather forecast data for your city with nice formatting
  • Giving the word count of an essay in plain text, not including quotes
  • Deleting every song in a directory whose 'artist' metadata is "Justin Bieber"

You decide on a fee between 0.25 and 5 BTC depending on how substantial the task is, and if it's reasonable and I know how to I'll do it. If you have any specific language requirements, let me know. Send bitcoins to 1PnqE59974vkazJFuxWABt5TiTQWjEsYyK .

How do you know he hasn't subscribed for notifications from this thread? I'm convinced he is still receiving notifications for the threads he opened here, and especially this one because when you post an offer for a job that's something everyone does.

Probably because of the posting date of this thread, 2011, and the last activity of the OP, 2016. He didn't even reply, bump, or update this thread considering the amount of the reward. And how's is it possible still finding someone in almost 10 years for a simple task?

Maybe you don't pay much attention to who has offered the service. I guess right now OP won't be working for anyone else anymore, he's busy in his ethereum lab.

Anyway, good humor. ::)

Do you think the OP was the real Vitalik Buterin?

10 years ago looking for small scripting jobs, now being the face of Ethereum and owning billions of $$$.

WOW! Nice career!

Do you think the OP was the real Vitalik Buterin?

As a matter of fact it really is him: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=428589)
He used to be a writer for blogs, Bitcoin weekly (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=8412.msg124401#msg124401) and Bitcoin Magazine (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=83530.msg932521#msg932521), coding enthusiast and well... the rest is history I guess

Yes. Legit!

10 years ago looking for small scripting jobs, now being the face of Ethereum and owning billions of $$$.

WOW! Nice career!
He became now one of the richest person in the world that happened through cryptocurrencies. And not just a cryptocurrency but through his creation of Ethereum and is one of the most successful crypto that we ever had in the market.

Well, he went far from his skill and we're now part of this historical thread.  :P

Hopefully he will have his spare time to login to his account and have even a single reply on this thread.

Well I think he has already received one job offer by PM at least because someone sent him 5 BTC to his BTC adress one week later (the 24th april) as you can see on this blockchain explorer :

Fast forward 10 years: can you imagine what kind of task a person can do for a fee between 0.25 and 5 BTC? :)))

I heard Ethereum is looking for developers to help lower their insane gas prices. O0
Maybe they will have to solve their own problems and no developer will be ready for that.
But if they listen to us from the beginning then maybe ETH 2.0 should be implemented soon, but it's okay with the experience of patience I'm still waiting for it to happen.
