Title: The Official X11 Thread (updated daily)(Now with increased MH)
Post by: jedimindtriks on May 03, 2014, 07:07:04 AM
UPDATE!

Code:
New miner: https://www.dropbox.com/s/59lvecndm866bzz/sph-sgminer_x11mod_b2.zip (fixed bugs) new rev
Thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=616786.0
set kernel to x11mod, about 35% increase in performance with the same watt usage.

This thread is created for the purpose of listing x11 based coins, and to gather all info about the coin in one spot.
and to provide info on how to mine.

The page is currently a simple draft. will add more info as i collect it :)

Benefits of X11

Up to 55% less power draw than scrypt
Less heat output. My 280x is running at 45-50c, compared to 75-80 on scrypt

You need special miners for it to work. The kernel has to be set to darkcoin. (./sgminer -k darkcoin)

added Badgercoin
added urls to announcement threads

will add a pool list which will consist of todays recommended pool depending on the coin that is most profitable, and maybe some x11 auto switch pools.

Edit: will try and add seperate lists for good coins and bad coins, although with how the market is, this might be difficult if not impossible.

How efficient is minerd vs sph-sgminer ?   Does the gpu miner blow it out of the water ? I've been looking for a good cpu miner to squeeze a little bit more out of my mining rigs.

Look into Groestl. The GPU to CPU ratio is about 5-10x, much better than x11. GPU mining with Groestl is also way more efficient.

2 x 290 non x and 2 x 270x gpu

about half what you get with scrypt.

290 running at stock volt, uses about 250watt. so i imagine half of that. 270x uses about 200watt at stock?

ofc its better to undervolt them and go down a few in core clock.

my 280x runs at 1040mhz and is undervolted from 1.2volt, to 1volt. which makes it use about 190watt on scrypt coins.

x11 really worth mining?

Not as profitable as scrypt but im running about 10 rigs, and its summer time. the cost of having those machines mine scrypt, they all run at a temp of 80c for each gpu. and i need 3 ac units + a fan that sucks the hot air out of the room.

i went from 10kw usage, to about 3.5kw.

so its absolutly worth it for me.

and is your calc based per MH? because my total MH is about 95, so the numbers arent that bad.

right now I am mining trademybit x11 pool. my house is 90 degrees in the room that I put the rig and all 4 gpus is 70-75 stable at least so far.

so far it is good for me. without worrying 85-90 degree gpu to be burn up. :?

you know that 1 mh/s in scrypt is 3 mh/s in x11, so 0.004 for only 1 mh/s x11 is pretty good lol

but perhaps you mean 1 mh/s in scrypt, so 3 mh/s with x11

Nice to see X11 thread here!

Can someone point me where I can find good X11 conf to my rig:
Gigabyte R9 280x rev 2.0 (GV-R928XOC-3GD-GA)
Gigabyte HD 7950 rev 2.0 (GV-R795WF3-3GD)

280x should run on 2 threads with no problems, but what about 7950? Do I need to make it run on 1 thread or can it handle 2 threads too?

Thanks  :)

Im not sure about 7950, but any normal scrypt settings work fine with x11.
for 280x, look at the main thread.

Anyone have a working CPU miner for X11?
It's suppose to be quite efficient, but none of them work for me.
My Scrypt minerd/cpuminers work fine, but the ones from Darkcoin for example, do not fully work.  They crash shortly after starting the threads up.
I'm using -a X11 which it reports is fine before it crashes.

Guys,

I cant get more than 1.4Mhash from my R9 280X sapphire, what is wrong with it? I tested all the setting combinations but it cannot go beyond 1.4Mhash

I have the sapphire 7970 dual X which is similar to the R9 280X.

I use: xIntensity 4, thread-currency = 8192, Gpu-threads = 2. Vcore = 0.94v V, core/memory = 840/1000MHz, the hash rate is 1.65 MH/s. I used the lower setting to have high energy efficiency as my electricity cost is high.

Gigabyte 280x & Sapphire 7970 Dual-X both getting 2.1 MH with the above with voltage set in the BIOS on both at 1.085

There are a lots of coins using X11 algo but I can't find decent coin to mine or invest amongst them...
tried DRK, HIRO, MUN, QBC, BDG, ERC, DRM ... and I don't see bright future in any of them... (only badger is fun and I kept, even bought some)

You see no future in Darkcoin and you instead choose to buy Badgercoin. I can only guess you researched Darkcoin for about 2 seconds, if that. Sorry to derail I just saw this and had to say something.

you calculate the MH per second like this.

if all your gpus do 100mh on x11.

then its 100/2 x (btc/mh/day)

so you multiply half of your MH with for example currently dreamcoin is 0.005 BTC/mh day

50 x 0.005 = 0.25

(equals 0.25 BTC a day)

Which is better than scrypt :)

Did you use power meter to measure the power consumption?

I have 8 GPU rig with combination of 7970/7990. The power consumption is 730W. Total hash = 13.5MH/s.
core/memory= 850/1000MHz. VCore = 0.94V.

yeah i used a power meter. scrypt i get about 1250watt. and x11 its somewhere in the range of 550-600.

not sure about the 7990 tho. do you cound it as 2 gpus in your rig? but still 730watt for 8 cards isnt bad at all.

1X7990  = 2GPU.

What are your voltage settings and other configurations?

You are using higher clocks, so higher voltage. Therefore should be less efficient, but

Your efficiency: 2080*5/550 = 22.7 kH/s/W
My efficiency: 13500/730 = 18.4 kH/s/W

all my cards have been flashed to precisly 0.943volts since MSI are retarded and only allows 0.943v or 1.2v on the cards i got with serial starting with sb38

then i add +0.1v through msi after burner to get about 1.043 (althou afterburner reports 0.995)

and running at 1040/1500 (some cards manage 1060, some 1080) and mem is always 1500. i get about 2.08MH per card.

other config is the cfg setting in the main post.

i have also deactived everything possible in bios, and im using a 30gig ssd disk, low voltage ram with further voltage drop to about 1.2volt, running at 800mhz. undervolted cpu as well but its mostly idle it doesnt matter that much tho.

interesting question, tried installing it on my six card rig but didnt have the modded driver at hand so aborted the test (the comp will only install the driver on 5/6 gpus without the mod)

give me 10 minutes to test it on my rig with 5 cards.

Title: Re: The Official X11 Thread (updated daily)(Now with increased MH)

I notice the openCL version of 13.12 and 14.4 is the same. I just tested both on my computer using the 14.4Mod, they are the same speed.

I am wondering why your 1.04V, 1040/1500MHz cards consume the same power as my 0.94V, 840/1000MHz cards and have higher hash rate. It should be 50% more due to the high voltage and clock speed.

Title: Re: The Official X11 Thread (updated daily)(Now with increased MH)
Post by: jedimindtriks on May 25, 2014, 04:26:16 PM
checked the voltage today, system usage is about 550watt for 5 card setup, and about 650watt for 6 card setup. all i have is the killawatt.

as i said before. not 100% how to measure vddc. since gpuz and afterburner show different results.
but in my previous posts i explained what i did to lower the power usage as much as possible.

and i notice about 0.025 increase in hash going from 13.12 to 14.4
so basicly no change :) but the reject rate is about 1% on 2 of the 5 cards.

Good thread!
Which X11 coin is the most profitable to mine now?
It perplexes me that, not just one but, two of ya in a row can make it all the way to "Full Members" complete with "OG status" type shiny badges, regalia that, in a more honest era, symbolized "time spent and wisdom earned" yet now apparently nothing more than a string of font serving as a flat surface, one ascends a ladder of plastic rungs strung on lines of credit to to stand atop while tossing the word "noob" down to those of lessor title, and at the end of the day still not even know of "cointweak.com, coinwarz.com, or coindust.com"? LOL Such Very Wow!

but ill share again.

"intensity" : "15,15,15,15,15,15",

"scan-time" : "7",
"tcp-keepalive" : "30",
"temp-hysteresis" : "3",
"shares" : "0",
"kernel-path" : "/usr/local/bin"

All cards have their speed adjusted if they stop, i go down 5 mhz until stable.

i have MSI 280x cards that are undervolted to exactly 0.943, then i add 0.1v with afterburner. (bug in the MSI cards with serial number starting with 38SB, where you can only have 0.943 or 1.2v in bios)

Most cards in my rigs cant go over 1040mhz.

UPDATE!
Code:
New miner: https://www.dropbox.com/s/59lvecndm866bzz/sph-sgminer_x11mod_b2.zip (fixed bugs) new rev
Thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=616786.0
set kernel to x11mod, about 35% increase in performance with the same watt usage.

What date was this update and when was that new miner build released? I've gotten newer kernals from sgminer builds released this month. The sgminer build I'm using is dated July 7th.

What are people getting with undervolted/underclocked cards?

I'm running 2 R9 280x cards down at almost 1.00v and 930/1220 @ 18intensity. They're getting about 2.8Mh/s, is that terrible or ok if they're running 930/1220? Running them low to save on power/heat, and its hott as balls in my place right now.

"intensity" : "13",
"worksize" : "400",
"kernel" : "x11mod",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"thread-concurrency" : "8192",
"shaders" : "0",
"gpu-threads" : "2",
"gpu-engine" : "930",
"gpu-memclock" : "1220",
