I'm not so sure about us humans being able to detect pheromones. I'm not disputing we don't emit them, but our sense of smell just isn't sophisticated or sensitive enough. Maybe we lost the ability somewhere down the evolutionary ladder though.

Most would believe this. But it seems Nature does not, as procreation is the main purpose of Life.

An argument against these smell theories is the ubiquitous nature of visual representations of sexuality for humans - everywhere, every form of media.  We see and hear other humans.

By contrast a dog, seeing an image of a dog on a television or such, basically does not see a dog.  Dogs smell and hear other dogs as opposed to seeing them.

Maybe it was Nature's answer for the blinds to get laid?  :)

Or as an assist to reproduction at night, when vision is nominal?  Betcha, though that theory is refuted by the romantic aspects of a full moon.  The curious thing here is that the smell aspect is more unconscious than conscious.  The dog actually "sees" what he smells, maps an area via smell.  But then our brains are bigger and smell is one of the most primitive of the senses, lodged back on the brainstem.

Well the blinds other senses are usually heightened to cope with the lack of sight, so maybe there might be something in that lol. I don't think we can smell pheromones though, but maybe it's just on a subliminal level.

I remember years ago you could buy some pheromones scents that can attract girls. But lets face it. I really do think companies add pheromone enhancements in perfumes. Why? lets put it like this. Has it ever happened to you that while you were walking some girl passes you and you don't even notice her, there is nothing special about her ( for your taste ) but then you smell her perfume and there is an urge to turn back and look at her, an urge that its so hard to overcome?

Those 'pheromone scents' you can buy are as hokum as penis enlargement pills. And that's not pheromones in perfumes, that's just being attracted to pleasant smells. You could say the same about walking past a bakery or coffee shop. I also actually hate the smell of most women's perfumes. Fake and horrible chemical stench.

Penis enlargement pills do work, I wasnt taking them but friend did and it worked for him. I don;t agree with you, I love coffee and the smell of it but I would never turn and look at the store/coffee shop. And its not the scent im looking for its the girl, the fact that I think of her even if she isn't my taste says there has to be something more.

I'm not sure if you're trolling or not but penis enlargement pills do not work. That's a scientific fact. Go take some if you're sure they do. You only don't turn back and look at a store because you know it's a store. If a woman walked past you carrying fresh coffee and pastries you'd probably look back then. The smell is just a pleasant and inviting attraction and nothing more.

same as muscle growth pills don't work? penis isnt a musle, its an organ so no excessive use or not using it will work, but considering it is sponge like tissue something can work on it, or you think it can't? There is no need for me to try, im happy with my size... No I wouldn't and thats coming from someone who is addicted to coffee for 2/3 oh his life and to food. Ok lets put it like this, If a guy pass you by, and is smelling good, would you turn around or no?

Then it obviously doesn't work and you've just proved yourself wrong. I just told you I don't like perfume so I wouldn't look. You look back because you like the smell. If it was indeed pheromones you'd check out the guy too. You just see a woman, you like the inviting smell which you are attracted to, and you decided to have a look at the source of the nice smell. The same would happen if a car drove by emitting a pleasant smell; you'd look back to check out the source.

And penis enlargement pills don't work. A quick google search will prove this.

What do you mean? We're talking about if he was wearing perfume which according to you may have female pheromones in it. I can assure you you just like and are attracted to the smell of perfume.

I never said female perfume, I said perfume you like. That's a difference imo.

This is confusing cause and effect.  ANYTHING - that causes people to notice person X is likely to increase mating chances for X.  Perfume, hair style, skin, anything....

That has nothing to do with pheromones being in or not being in perfume.

Its easy to check, put a blind fold around person eyes and see if he/she can call just showered 0 perfume people gender correctly via gender smell. Who here have tried it? :)

I have a friend who is what you could call asexual. He never showed any interest in women (or men); originally we thought he was just an extremely shy tech-nerd type (he grew up mostly in the company of computers and very few friends), but eventually we discovered he didn't use any porn either.

Later I learned that when he was very small he had a severe nose infection which made him lose his sense of smell completely, and I believe it is very much related to his lack of interest in sex. I guess not being able to sense any scent just blocks your libido. Of course this could be just a happy coincidence but I do think there is a correlation.

I usually find people who claim to be asexual genuinely aren’t and there's other things going on for his/her lack of apparent sexdrive, or they're just lying about it. And ow do you know he doesn't watch porn? I think a few of my mates have denied in the past that they don't watch porn, but I know that they're liars  :D.

I know because I shared a flat with him for a year and all the rest of us would talk openly about porn, girls, etc and he wasn't really shy about it, just uninterested. I doubt very much he would have made such an effort to fool everyone. I also know other people who denied watching porn, but they did have an interest in women/sex so it was quite obvious they lied (or in a minority of cases maybe they really didn't for religious or similar reasons).

Well guys can I say this to you all, I dont know it it counts but when I was younger and I heard my parents doing the whammy jamm, I use to smell there sexual scent all over there room.  so is that a bunch of pheromones getting mixed up together in the air that gives that musky sex scent.

I doubt they'd be able to smell anything. If the person had just washed without any scented soaps or shampoos a person probably just wont have any smell at all, or more more importantly one human noses cant pick up.
