The fact that you have MaidSafeCoin on your list and not Goldcoin (GLD) has me somewhat concerned for your sanity........

With half the coins listed being instamine scams yes goldcoin would fit right in.

Anyone who honestly believes that Goldcoin is a scam is either a.) uneducated in the recent history of the currency , or b.)  has a full-blown conspiracy theory complex.

bitcoin:  nothing to be said. this is the coin to have.

litecoin:  there's some interest here. if people are creating/inventing 'scrypt asics' for this, then this could well  be the next coin where another economy and industry could be built around on.

dogecoin:  community power!  such big!  not underestimate!

I choose Btc /Ltc well its obvious why and Quark because they managed to get Crypto involved in the top gaming scene which is huge, with the right promotion many new users can be introduced to Crypto.

Bitcoin: Far far further than any other cryptocurrency. It has become a professional cryptocoin and can be used for many purposes already.

Doge: Big great enthousiastic community. I have had many doubts about that coin, but thanks to Doge lots of people learned about cryptocurrencies on a friendly way. Lots of other and new cryptocurrencies can learn from them.

Quark: Has everything what a modern cryptocoin should look like (secure, fast and prepared for the future). Besdes also a big support from an enthousiastic devoted community who is working hard to get the coin to the public for everyday's use and had already many successes lately: Partnership with Shaq-Fu (in game payments), Partnership with Moolah (working on in store acceptance of Quark), and more and more merchants accepting the coin every day.

(LTC as an outsider). Great coin and copied a lot, but haven't heard much of them lately.

Quark - fast, secure, low maintenance cost, undervalued, no more premine, instamine FUD after all haters have no problem with one week instamine of new scam coins, what haters can tell now about quark after investing in many few day mining coins? Good dev team, many actions to improve coin. Hope haters will get a lot of water in mouth.

Darkcoin, namecoin and Quark.

The reason for Quarks is cause of it's combination of good specs. See sig for details. There're 2 or 3 better and active cryptos though which haven't made it yet.

Darkcoin cause it has unique security features and DGW, but otherwise it's just like another alt by design.


Namecoin cause a decentralized DNS system was always required and it's need will never end. There's scope of improvements though in the economic front.

As of blackcoin, it's the easiest one to kill with 51% (https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/6156-blackcoin-bc-information/?p=54484).

Quark. it is difficult to add something more than what has been said. I think some day people will appreciate its anti-asic features. However it seems to me that it may take long time to reach reasonable levels of adoption. It is my favourite coin, it is extremly fast, ideal tool for arbitraging, blood to the system ;)

And I like the name and the logo. Yea, it has the nicest logo of all the altcoins ;)

I must say I admire the Quark community for sticking with it.

It deserves to start going up in value again just for surviving if nothing else. I sold most of mine ages ago but kept a little bit in my wallet address. I think I'll dig it out again and might even start accumulating again if it's the case that it looks like having a future.

Dual POW and POS.

It's going places for sure.

Surprised Vertcoin's popularity is so low.

Despite this it has also been the most stable coin that I have witnessed. People making money just by holding Mintcoin. Even though there has not been massive pumps on mint it keeps on gaining community and building a foundation for the coin to stand on. It has a lot of strong people behind it and its popular as the poll suggests.

My choices are pretty obvious.
Bitcoin is the gold standard and father of all.
Litecoin is next in line for the thrown.
and Mintcoin has maintained has maintained it's position with only small variances over a long period of time. Mintcoin has withstood many pump and dump attacks, has a great DEV team, has gained acceptance on exchanges and has merchants accepting it.
At this time Mintcoin is leading this poll. I guess I am not alone in my thinking.

Very stable price which is great for its merchant utility (the only coin besides bitcoin that I have bought something with), and the high interest rate means you can receive an ROI even if the price stays the same or dips slightly. I also think this coin is severely undervalued at the moment.
2. Fluttercoin - Invented Proof-of-Transaction which is an innovative reward system that provides incentive to spend/use the coin and provides an additional level of blockchain security and further decentralizes blockchain security. I think it has great potential, especially when complementing Proof-of-Stake systems which reward saving/hording of coins. The dev -thekidcoin- is very attentive to the coin (one of the most active devs I have seen), all it needs is greater exposure and more community backing.

For the third I was stuck between Darkcoin, Maidsafecoin, and Blackcoin.

I picked Maidsafecoin. Although the IPO was a bit of a mess, if they are capable of accomplishing what they have set out to do it could be huge.

Whitecoin has got some big hands behind it.  There is a lot of PR and buzz going around.

Blackcoin, darkcoin and doge because they all have massive publicity

Worldcoin has become cult-like the last few months. A recipe for disaster, or mass poisoning.

I like Darkcoin, but it will ultimately fail.

the new paradigm is every coin fails from now on unless something genuinely innovative appears. It will be so innovative that it will literally blow you away.

This is exactly what I thought.

The most promising coins are the coins with the biggest market cap(for a reasonable time span). Just kidding. Check out [shit coin which I have a lot]. With a market cap of $4000 and a trading volume of $2 it is just very unknown for now. But the dev team is very active and because it is very innovative, it will go to the moon very soon. Of course, I'll pick WhiteCoin, DogeCoin and BlackCoin.

Some benefits

One of the most appreciated factors of this algorithm is its mining temperature in comparison to mining Scrypt algorithms. Overall you can enjoy your GPU running 30% cooler which also means an increased lifespan for your GPU and a reduction in power consumption and electricity bills.

Now if that is not enough reason in itself then we must also specify that this algorithm is so far Asic proof. Meaning that they have not yet found a way to produce asic miners for the x11 algorithm. Now we all know that this can eventually be placed into production though we can rest assure that for the time being this algorithm is safe from the hungry asic minersssssssssssssssssssssssssssss  :P

Why didn't you add CryptoNote based coins like BCN (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=512747.0) to the voting list?
They provide users with true anonymous transactions and they are CPU-only that's really good for decentralization.

You should add Global Denomination (GDN) to the list. Very promising X11 coin.

You forgot Qubitcoin. Based on Quark but has a unique algo.

DigitalCoin, MicroCoin and LiteCoin.

DigitalCoin has a great and active dev and a great community behind it. It's just a matter of time for the coin to gain it's old value again, but I'm sure we will see its value increasing in the future (and that's why most of my BTC's are in that coin). MicroCoin had a great launch (no premine etc), it just had to deal with some dump issues etc. But, I think it will gain value in the future again (and that's why I HODL my coins). 

LiteCoin? Because it has proven to be successfull. As soon as most of the Scrypt ASICs will start mining, its difficulty will go insane. I think that makes them more worth too :).

Where is Einsteinium its a very decent coin with good dev team and no fast pump and dump its 1 of the more decent ones long term

On second though, Darkcoin is pointless (http://delogics.blogspot.com/2014/05/darkcoin-review.html).

Worldcoin has 4 ways of merchant implementation, 10+ direct exchanges 20+ altcoin exchanges, 100+ merchants. It has a 30 second block time with a reduced orphan blockrate in comparison to Quark which has double the amount of orphan blocks. WDC isn't as fairly distributed as it could be but still has the potential to be unlike other coins which have a short mining period, WDC only has 55m/256m mined so far. Take for example blackcoin which is very very poorly distributed (55.5% top 100 wallets).

The alliance committee has 3 meetings a week with regular updates and the developer team is expanding to help bring out wallet updates etc faster. So think again, Worldcoin has everything but right now is lacking in recognition.

The PoS coins seem to be a popular choice. I picked black coin, white coin, and mint coin because they seem to be standing the test of time. Mint coin came out months ago, but still seems popular and I suspect the other two might follow the same path.

I think some of you chasing insta-profits need to ask yourself are you trying to get rich in a week? Cause that isn't investing or building a currency. That is just gambling.

If you actually want to invest and maybe help build something great then you should probably take another look at Worldcoin. We've had our trials but we are only getting stronger. We have a growing development team, an active forum of our own, many merchants, exchanges and services. We have a wallet release this Friday that will protect us from asics and position us to transition into something even more unique safely. We have big plans and the resources to achieve them but I'm sorry we aren't going to lie and try and convince you that we will make you rich in a week. I guess that means we aren't that promising.....

Bitcoin is not an altcoin. It does not belong on the list.

Litecoin is a no-brainer. It doesn't belong on the list.

You missed Huntercoin. It's absolutely one of the top 5 easily.

As such, I can't vote.

If I were to vote:

1) Namecoin - This is a no-brainer.

2) Huntercoin - Parallel merged mining with SHA-256 and scrypt, human mining. These are BIG deals.

3) Not sure about #3... a few possible contenders...

RieCoin? The fact that I've never heard about it probably, which means that it didn't had enough promotion.. (And / or because it's shit).

There are too many cryptocurrencies. I think only a few will survive in the long run.

Looks like Cinni and Doge are twice in the list (any others ?). You don't have NEM  there   ::)  , so i only chose NXT. It is just in the edge of exploding from "altcoin" to seriously challence the old and tired Bitcoin.  8)  

The "old" and "tired" Bitcoin? I really think Bitcoin will be the #1 for ever.. It's really hard to create such community for a new coin.   I wish I had more coins of this "old" and "tired" Bitcoin ;).

I'm currently making my Altcoin portfolio smaller, when I'm done, I just want BTC and a few altcoins. Having a wide spread portfolio really takes time in my opinion, atleast to maintain it..

Bitcoin is very good first step, but tech goes forward fast and i am afraid that the feature "original" won't be enough anymore in 2015. And community will easily be cut in half when some other coin starts getting close to Bitcoin's cap and some of the "Winkelwosses" announce that they have just moved their investments in to new slicker platform....

And in the end there is only few stubborn dude's yelling that Bitcoin is the only crypto and you should never move on... because it's the first one...  >:( ... :'(
