internet in the 80's?? WTF is this assclown smoking?!? in the 80's there was no commercially available internet until the early 90's. Anything in the 80's was what a few universities might have had which was mostly just interconnecting BBSes (Bulletin Board Systems). There were a few online services like Compu-Serv and American People-Link but they weren't really considered internet material. Just online dialup sites that had chatrooms, forums and email, which was self contained. Nothing left those systems to be transported to other remote systems.  

God damn I'm sick of celebrities.. They obtain fortune and fame and are generally dumb as a bag of hammers.. Meanwhile those of us that were considered middle-class at one time are living in poverty because of the assclown jiggaboo president that these assholes rallied behind...

 

I don't care much about him... but remember the fact that more than 16,000,000 people follow him on the twitter. That is massive publicity for the Bitcoin, and the best part is that all of it is free!

the actual interpretation he is saying is "bitcoin is new and will grow to cover the planet and nearly everyone will use it"

but what i do find funny is that after doing the steve 'jobs' origins movie, his research about 1980's tech seems to be limited

Most people think that Ashton Kutcher is a dumbass because of his good looks and the fact that he plays a dumbass on TV... most people forget that he has a biochemical engineering degree and a VC investor in several successful startups including Skype and Spotify...

I think haters here are just jealous that he's young, good looking, and actually smart.

it must be nice to have the money to become an investor... when his dumbass gets paid several hundred thousand per episode that should tell you how worthless the money really is.

if I had millions to invest, I could make some successful startups as well with gas vapor technology...

Maybe he's very bullish in his reasoning. I think he was being very positive about bitcoin.

I think that's the point he's making. I was using the internet (not to be confused with the WWW) back in the 80s. People who used the internet back then were early adopters, and nothing was very easy, just like bitcoin now.

How would you define the advent of the "modern" Internet? I would say 1993, or whenever the world wide web was first developed, since that's what the laymen associates as "The Internet".

He is reasonably smart but his mass following is his main leverage to get into deals
Not as smart as some of his VC co-investors, but smart enough to make his brand talk

When come to bitcoin Kuchter has struck me as intelligent and realistic when he speaks.
Kutcher is apparently smarter than I am.

Just that his access to premium deals is primarily driven by smart use of his celebrity rather than his smarts per se

I am no fan of Ashton Kutcher. But due to him, Bitcoin is gaining a lot of publicity. And I am not just talking about his 16 million plus twitter followers, check this one as well:

I think he was one of the major investors in bitpay. Regardless of what a lot of us here think of him, a lot of people hear when he talks, so it is still good to help mainstream adoption, which is our ultimate goal right?

Ashton has done more for bitcoin times 1000 than any of the haters on here.  If bitcoin got 10 more Ashton's we might all be so lucky. 

Hopefully it will catch more celebrities. That would really drive the price up!

Ashton kutscher sucks. Only good movie he ever played in was "Butterfly Effect".

I wouldn't care much about it. But that said, he has played a number of good roles, and The Butterfly Effect wasn't the only one. Films such as A Lot like Love, The Guardian and Just Married comes to mind.

The comparison has been made in the past - I'm personally not a big fan of it. It's nice to think of it as something as big (I certainly don't mind a price rise) but I have my doubts that it will eventuate and change the course of humanity and human lifestyle to the same extent that the internet has.

Internet in 80s were available only to few people, it was heavily connected with universities and army. There is definitely less similarities then we might expect.

Bitcoin is not like internet in 80s more in the beginning of 90s. But celebrity talking about Bitcoin is ver good, We should welcome them in our community and not talk shit about them. Most of the time they are paid to connect their name with some product or service.

He should of said "of the 90s" because it more accurately describes something easily accessible to everyone. I suppose he's too young to really know that, or dumb...but he's got a lot of people listening to him, I hope they understand what he means and follow through on his lead.

Dumb people are part of the economy too. The larger part, I'm afraid, but there's little can be done about that.

Imagine if Ashton Kutcher really bought even just a million dollar worth of bitcoins in 2014? It is more than 10 million dollars already in today's rate. That was already a big amount in short span of years.

its more than 20 million mate.look at the price back in 2014 compared to now and seems like this man  capable of holding for that long..but the thing here is Internet has been in the market from 1980's?nah i dont think so its early 90's when it's publicly presented and being use by countries wayback

Yeah that's true but he should first educate himself on what is a cryptocurrency and blockchain and involve himself also as trader or investors to fully understand how cryptocurrency works, the more celebrities that endorse cryptocurrency the better.

If he is a billionaire who made money during the internet boom i am sure he is making good investments in the bitcoin era too, i like many projects but i think may be some of the coins might die off as there are many coins and tokens that have come up in a short period of time with fancy projects and you never know what all team will fulfill their promise and Ashton being an investor he is making some heavy investments like he has shares with bitpay and so on .
