Title: Best movies like "The wolf of wallstreet"?
Post by: pastet89 on May 05, 2014, 09:33:33 AM
I have seen this movie and I love it.
Anyone aware of similar movies like it?
If Leonardo is starting would be awesome, such characters fits him great!  ;D

Didn't someone already create a thread exactly like this? There's at least a post in one of the movie threads. Just look on IMDB for similar films, but I think Boiler Room was one mentioned, but I doubt any of the older films will captivate you as much as Wolf did.

There's obviously Wall Street 1 & 2. Maybe American Hustle.

These posts/recommendations may be of interest to you:

Recently watched the Wolf of Wall Street (obviously) then decided to watch the 1987 'Wall Street' too, and then Boiler Room. Might have to watch American Psycho too. You have to appreciate these for what they are  :)

Blood Diamond is another I watched not too long ago; that's a really good film.

Blood Diamond also stars Leo but I wouldn't say it's that similar or comparable to Wolf, but I recommend it.

These might have been mentioned already (this thread has too many posts cant read them all) But if you like financial movies:

  • Wallstreet
  • Boiler Room
  • Wall st 2
  • Margin Call
  • Glengarry Glen ross

This list is good...  it needs the addition of "Too Big To Fail" and obviously "Wolf of Wall Street."   "American Psycho" almost fits in...

"Wall Street" - the first part is better
''Duhless'' - russian movie with a cool main charater like Leo in Wolf , IMHO

Agreed. Even though it's not as "hardcore" as Wolf :)

The Wolf of Wall Street was an amazing movie no doubt and it was one of the best performances of Leonardo DiCaprio to date. But I don't agree with the glorification of Jordan Belfort in the film. He ruined the lives of thousands of people to make money.

I didn't think it was anywhere near his best performance. Good, but he was just play himself really.

The boiler room is a good one, similar style to the wolf of wall street setting.

Like the whole wall st. mentality of getting rich.

I do want to check that one particular film out.  Maybe I'll make some time to do just that soon enough.  What was you opinion of the film compared to Wolf of Wall Street, if you have seen that already?

I've seen both.
Without spoiling it for everyone......

I initially avoid downloading because I thought why would I want to see some flick about the 20s. I was pleasantly surprised, that movie has depth. They're both rise to power films.
