Title: Re: Next block halving Post by: alh on May 20, 2014, 11:56:15 PM I think when the reward halves, it will be almost identical to a one day
difficuly increase of 100%. I don't want to be that guy that just bought his shiny new 50 TH/s miner the day before and watch it depreciate 50% overnight. Worse than buying a new car. Title: Re: Next block halving Post by: Corporate on May 21, 2014, 12:38:11 AM I cant wait to see how this affects the price of BTC. What do you guys think it will do?

You obviously haven't spent enough Time on memegenerator.net Title: Re: Next block halving Post by: Ron~Popeil on May 21, 2014, 02:43:36 AM Hopefully by then transactions will reach a volume to offset some of the lost mining rewards.
Title: Re: Next block halving Post by: haploid23 on May 21, 2014, 02:44:49 AM Dam I remember the good ol' days when I mined at 50btc reward blocks. Now it's only 25btc/block, but at the same time btc value increased much more than double. So if the past predicts the future, then halving to 12.5btc/block will more than double current price as well.
Here's to hoping... Title: Re: Next block halving Post by: WheresWaldo on May 21, 2014, 10:11:07 PM Dam I remember the good ol' days when I mined at 50btc reward blocks. You mean that awesome time where they were worth 1/100th of what they are now? I'm glad we've developed and bitcoin is being regarded as the valuable commodity that it is. Though obviously price isn't everything. I remember mining using my laptop and getting half a bitcoin in a week and thinking it was the lamest thing ever. Now my 7gh wont get me that in a year. Title: Re: Next block halving Post by: abacus on May 22, 2014, 04:16:50 AM I never seen a block that doest that.. I thought every block is 25 bitcoin reward.. Yes, it's 25 bitcoin now but not forever. It was 50 till the end of 2012. The reward halving happens every 210,000 blocks (about 4 years if difficulty is stable). |
