"duhosnyul" is a unique user name and does not translate to anything in English.  If you Google it, you will see this guy posts on a lot of forums and blogs - mostly in Hungarian.

I'd find someone who speaks that language here, hire him for some coin, and have him post on all these forums about the scam and the bounty.

Somewhere someone must know this guys name.

It's almost surprising how often they reuse their addresses between accounts. Scammers need to put a little more effort into their attempts.  :)

ok guys, ive read through the posts, i can confirm i have received the coins from duhosnyul. from what i can tell VOD found the address and austin  found his second account, and by looking at the speed of how fast he gave me the money, i will assume they are correct.

message to duhonsyul thats great you owned up to your mistake, but the negative trust will stay for other borrowers security. im not bothered about the btc, but the way you sold the collateral has damaged confidence in that coin. it has also put me off borrowing anything from here.

Certainly a feel good ending - although I'm extremely surprised that he gave the coins back. I've rarely heard of scams and thieves willing to give a full refund once they get threatened with dox. Not too shocked about the reuse of addresses though, so many scammers have alts and are just lazy.

i hope your not referring to me. they helped me get my 4.5btc back, i wrote it off as a bad mistake. it has just been invested, and once ive sold, i shall pay. 0.25btc to austin and 0.25 btc to vod.

Of course .25 BTC to each of the two is fair. Bazar shouldn't get crap. He didn't post any evidence that he beat the other two to provide any information. Under bazar's theory everyone could have copy/pasted vod's post and everyone would get .5 BTC. I'm happy you got it back wonders

Now its good if u pay the real Vod & Austin as quick as possible and post the Tx openly rather than taking everything to PM. If u did it openly, it should not have happened, because others raised alarm.

You do realize that you can't just send coins to 2 random addresses (which you could have easily created yourself) and act like you should get credit for sending the coins to the correct addresses?  Your bad for getting scammed the first time... and the second time... make good on your word!

yes as funny as that sounds that is what has happened. i'm aware of the theories people will come up with and aware of the consequences too. it won't take much to make my trust negative if i dont pay. i have spoken to vod and he is ok with it.

An alleged scammer gets succesfuly doxed, magically appears right after and gives back the money  :o
Strangely another account uses his BTC address, but he claims it's not his alt  ???
Then some other guy wants to sell scammer's photo, despite the money being sent back the previous day, he demands to be paid and starts every reply with "i'm sorry".
Finally OP gets scammed and sends the prize to a wrong address  :-X

Favorite trick of scammers is use the name of trusted and reputable person but add the ` charactre to username! On some web browser and other application the character very small and hard to see!

You think maybe you talking to shadowhax but actual you talking to scammer using name shadowhax` with added ` symbol!!!

When I newbie to IRC years ago I once get scammed for 40,00 BTC because of this silly little trick. At time the bitcoins worth about $200,00 but today that be worth nearly $18.000,00!  :-\

The little ` symbol so small it easy to mistakes for speck of dust on monitor screen...

When you make deal with peoples always check it same account. If having doubts go to original thread, click on username of person and click on same one who sent you pm. See if all things match. Check URL of profile, number of post, signature, avatar and everything to be sure it same person before send large amount of money to scammer address!!!

I may suggest moderators of forums makes the ` character invalid character for forum account username!

After Vod and I helped to recover the funds from the original scammer, two accounts were created to impersonate us and steal the bounty that we would have received.

I think I may have past experience with same scammer on IRC...

Maybe two year ago I get scammed. Let my guard down and lose large amount of money to scammer who impersonate trusted user with ` character. Week later, he scam another person for 20,00+ BTC in same Bitcoin IRC. We examine Tor exit nodes and notice similar suspicious activity for several account.

Friend of mine send me information few days and say he notice similar network activity for user by name of "alexfun". I look into this person and network activity and find connections from mobile device coming from Estonia. I talk to him on alt accounts and be friendly with him. Linguistic pattern match Estonian native according to friend of mine. He also mention Estonia and websites from Estonia and Lithuania.

I eventually stop because I found new job and had to relocate and give more time to working. But perhaps I can resume pursuit once again. I would love to find the bastard. I have special plan for if the day I ever meet him face to face.  ;D

This could be same person or copycat phishing attack. Not sure. But perhaps this information is start to finding one scammer or even more.

I can hunt down and destroy them with enough time and resource...

Yes, he is. He has no actual skill. In a way I can respect hacker and people who pull of great bitcoin heist. They has skills. They find backdoor and network vulnerability few ever dream of. This guy just phish and scam and target newbies. He think he safe, probably over in Estonia like I suspects. But no matter who he is or where he is, he is NOT safe.  :)

It was just odd how you didn't pay right away, got tricked by some scammers the second time, and wanted to do routine things by private message.  That kind of behavior gave fuel to the folks that thought you may be trolling or pulling a fast one.
