I beleive notify will send you notifications to your email address that they were a repsonse to this topic or subject in the matter.  I havent try it yet but, why dont you experiment and see if I was right about that function. Watch is just to be on the threads your are watching and has no notifcation.

Watching threads puts them on your watchlist (at the top left), and I 'notify' send you an email (and/or maybe personal message or something).

Ah... ok I think I got it. I did not notice the watch list link on top left. Basically in my options I had the automatically add to watchlist if I reply and the email notification new replies etc. So basically there was no difference in watch and notify because of teh email setting in my account. I got email for everything... whether I clicked notify or watch :)

I think this should go in meta section first of all.

Second, I agree it would be helpful for a little guide to be put somewhere about what the notify watch etc. function do, as I've had similar issues in the past.

Amen to that. I also think a sticky on how the trust system works is needed.... and not just on the bitcoin main forum, but in the alt section and even in the lending section.

Notify sends you an email/personal message about what? It sends reminder when new post is posted on that thread or what?

Yeah, what else would it notify you about? Click the notify button and it tells you.
