Not sure why he would steal 8 Million $ as he was making very good money in the times that mcx had very high volume...

Make up your mind. The mcxfees were sold at 0.4 btc/mcxfee when btc was worth 200-250$. Most of them were sold when btc was worth 200$. Around 18k fees were sold (not exactly sure, maybe it was 22k). Which results in 1.5-2 million dollars. But then BTC value skyrocketed.
